CHARLESTON — Annabelle Lee Glover passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston.
She was supervisor of surgery and a registered nurse at CAMC General and St. Francis Hospitals.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a resident of Charleston for over 50 years.
She was a graduate of Charleston General’s Nursing School and was a member of AORN, Surgical Nursing Association, as well as the American Nurses Association.
She is survived by her brother, Willis Glover and wife, Frances, of Princeton; two nieces, Vonda Hardin and Tammy Louise Glover, both of Roanoke, Va.; a great-niece, Madison Hardin; and a great-nephew, Zack Hardin.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jessie Neale, Penny Shafer and mother, Frances Luger, Wanda Lanham, Cubberly Cross and Elaine Nelson.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at Roselawn cemetery, Princeton, with the Rev. Rymer Davis officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Francis Hospital volunteers or charity of choice.

Dora E. Goode Johnson
PINEVILLE — Dora E. Goode Johnson, 81, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.
Born Oct. 18, 1925, in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lillie Meadows Goode.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Rockcastle Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mike Johnson; her daughter, Sue Ward; three brothers, Ray, Carl and Brack Goode; and a sister, Sena Mullens.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ralph Johnson; a grandson, Michael Johnson and his wife, Heather, of Pineville; a great-granddaughter, Haley Johnson; two granddaughters, Kimberly Ward Ballowe and her husband, Stacey, of Christianburg, Va., and Tracy Ward of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Lloyd Goode of Longmont, Colo., and Herbert Goode of Ocala, Fla.; and four sisters, Watsie Hill of Pineville, Faye Browning of Rural Retreat, Va., Lila Anderson of Huntington and Mary Gunter of Pineville.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Doc Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
Pallbearers will be men of Rockcastle Baptist Church.

Edward A. Manning
Edward A. Manning, 88, of Beckley, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at his residence.
Born Jan. 11, 1918, at Winding Gulf, he was the son of the late Howard and Nancy Marshall Manning.
Mr. Manning was a former coal miner and a retired building contractor. He was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church at Shady Spring, was an avid bowler and golfer and had been a lifelong resident of Raleigh County.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Cox, and a brother, Okey Manning.
Survivors include his wife, T. Emogene Foley Manning; sons, Wayne Manning and his wife, Janet, of Auburn, Calif., and Jerry Manning and his wife, Lucy-Jane, of Bluefield; daughter, Karen Thompson of Beckley; sisters, Virginia Carman of Beckley, Helen Preast of Pomeroy, Ohio, and Jean Blevins of Harrisville; brothers, Robert Manning of Beckley, Kenneth “Sarge” Manning of Crab Orchard, Melvin Manning of Dothan, Donald of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Virgil Manning of MacArthur and Ross Manning of Elyria, Ohio; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Elder Keith Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Edward Lee Berginnis
ASHLAND, Ky. — Edward Lee Berginnis, 62, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at his residence.
Born March 17, 1944, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Margaret Marschner Berginnis.
Mr. Berginnis was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley and held a B.S. degree in accounting from Concord College where he was on the bowling and tennis teams, Phi Beta Lamba and Theta Xi social fraternity. He was a member of Elks BPOE Lodge 350, a Kentucky Colonel and a graduate of the AEP Executive Management Program at the University of Michigan. He was accounting manager, assistant treasurer and assistant secretary of Kentucky Power Co., retiring after 37 years of service.
Mr. Berginnis was active in various civic and community activities, including director of the Brandon Webb Holiday Baseball Camp for the past three years, United Way Citizens’ Review Panel, as former chairman and past president of the Ohio Valley Accountants Association, adviser for Junior Achievement of the Ohio Valley, and Boyd County Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Development Program.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Natalie Renee Berginnis.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Diane Smith Berginnis; two daughters, Rhonda Leigh Suman and husband, Matt, of Ashland and Alicia Nicole Webb and husband, Brandon, of Ashland; a sister, Charlotte Cole of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Sydney Elizabeth Suman, Sophie Marie Suman, Reagan Lucille Webb and Brayden Cole Suman; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special buddy, his dachshund, Otis.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Suman officiating.

Eula Bowling
PINEVILLE — Eula Bowling, 82, of Pineville, passed peacefully from this world, after a short illness, on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at her residence.
She was born to Sabbatino Lattanzio and Mary Gentile (Bill and Mary Lambert) on Sept. 17, 1924, in Welch.
Eula, with her husband, Willis Ward Bowling, was a founding member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pineville. She remained active in the church throughout her life and was a source of strength and support to many in the community. She was a lively member of the homemakers club and the Cow Shed breakfast club.
For a number of years, Eula worked for the service department at Sears but devoted most of her life to providing a loving home for her children and grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Willis; and her brothers, Joe, Jules, Tony, Fred, Lawrence, Paul and Bill Lambert.
Eula will be remembered with love by her son, Dr. Everett Bowling and his wife, Junemarie, and their daughter, Veronica Bowling, of Pineville; her daughter, Karen Bowling of Charleston; and special friend, Ali Stevenson. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Howard of Columbus, Ohio; and all her nieces and nephews and their families.
A music prelude will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pine-ville, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10 a.m. with Father Jim O’Conner and Father Patsy Iquinta presiding. Eula will then be taken to Maplewood cemetery, Tazewell, Va., for burial beside her husband at 1:30 p.m. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
There will be visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville, with a wake service at 7 p.m.

Anna Mae Cales
SANDSTONE — Anna Mae Cales, 76, of Sandstone, passed away at 7:36 p.m. Thursday Jan. 4, 2006, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 5, 1930, at Meadow Creek, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rufina Plumley Smith.
Ms. Cales was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a lifelong resident of Summers County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. Cales, in 2000; a daughter, Shirley Ann Cales, in 2004; three brothers, Theo, Clyde and Roy Smith; and a son-in-law, Tim Fredeking.
Survivors include three daughters, Diana Willey and Beverley Fredeking, both of Sandstone, and Debra L. Harvey of Hinton; a brother, Forest Smith of Hinton; three sisters, Mary Ellen Richmond of Grandview, Imogene Gwinn and husband, Jack, of Meadow Bridge and Margaret Bragg of Meadow Creek; three grandchildren, Dr. Kimberly Gwinn of North Carolina, Jennifer Price Dickens of Hinton and David A. Harvey of Hinton; twin great-grandchildren, Chloe and Drew Dickens; sister-in-law, Frances Thompson of Prince; several nieces and nephews; adopted by love, Rhoda and Angie Gwinn and Sharon Richards Pannell; and grand-kitty, Ashley.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Bill Ballengee officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond cemetery, Sandstone.
