Jack O. Crawford

OAK HILL — Jack O. Crawford, 78, of Oak Hill, died on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

Born Sept. 16, 1928, at Summerlee, he was the son of the late George O. and Wilma O. Rogers Crawford.

He was retired. Jack was a member of the Summerlee Presbyterian Church and served in the U.S. Air Force during peacetime.

Survivors include a brother, Tim Crawford and wife, Geraldine, of Chesterfield, Va.; and a sister, Juanita Rogers and husband, Lewis E., Jr. of Oak Hill and Culloden.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Winston O’Neal officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Lloyd Eugene Dishmon Jr.

Lloyd Eugene Dishmon, Jr., 51, of Beckley, formerly of Oceana, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2006.

The family is being served by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco.

Charles Russell Dotson

PINEVILLE — Charles Russell Dotson, 52, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Christian Fellowship Worship Center, Pineville, with the Rev. Bill Goode officiating. Burial will follow in the England Family cemetery at Hanover.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Calfee Funeral Service of Pineville is serving the Dotson family.

Leonora Dugan

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Leonora Dugan, 78, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at her home.

She was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Vandergrift, Pa., a daughter of Paul and Helen Petak.

Mrs. Dugan was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

She was a graduate of Vandergrift High School and was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, bridge and crafts.

On May 28, 1949, in Vandergrift, she married William “Bill” Dugan, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Michael (Robin) Dugan of McDonald; five daughters, Marilyn Hamlin and Kathy Dugan, both of Washington, Julie (Craig) Waters of Coraopolis, Francie (Chuck) O’Connor, of Norcross, Ga., and Patty (Chuck) Wintermantel, of Aliquippa; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Katie Dugan, Shawn and Brian Hamlin, Elyse Waters and Kayla and Kyle O’Connor; a great-granddaughter, Marlee Anne Hamlin and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Matonak; and a sister, Dolly Morrone.

Friends called from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Ave., Washington.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10 a.m. today, Dec. 27, 2006, in the Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut St., Washington, with Father Nick Spirko as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Washington cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Three Rivers Hospice, 1195 Jacks Run Road, North Versailles, Pa. 15137.

Roy W. Finney

SAULSVILLE — Roy W. Finney, 80, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2006.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. J.C. Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell.

Friends may call from 12 noon until time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Calfee Funeral Service of Pineville is serving the Finney family.

Linda Lou Fortner

Linda Lou Fortner, 56, of 119 Creole St., Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2006, at 6:30 a.m. following a long battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to others for her spirit and determination to not let her illness get her down. Linda was a born again Christian, and baptized by the Rev. Jack Maddy on June 25, 1978. She never wavered in her faith and knew that she had a better home waiting in heaven.

Linda was born at Beckley on Jan. 5, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Carl H. and Wanda Jones Waddell and was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl E. Waddell. Her paternal grandparents were the late Allen Waddell and Wadie Waddell Haga. Her maternal grandparents were the late Dewey and Myrtle Jones.

Linda is survived by her husband of 32 years, Rick Fortner; daughter, Sherry Fortner Suytak and husband, John Paul; brother, Earl (Duke) Waddell and wife, Diane; her twin sister and soul mate Barbara Sue Waddell, all of Beckley; three stepsisters, Loretta Burress and husband, Jack, of Beckley, Vida Gravley of Beckley and Della Airey of Egeria; a very special friend, Terri Waddell of Prosperity.

Linda was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard. Linda loved to crochet Afghans and made many for family and friends. Linda was a charter member of Harper Freedom Church. She studied her Bible daily and strived to live her life by its principles.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley with the Revs. Steve Board, Billy Waddell and Randy Smithson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial park.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tom Ward, Carnell Toler, Tracey Waddell, Tom Waddell, Jason Harper and Mike Allen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern WV, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802 in memory of Linda Fortner.

Jatazia Jamie Neshea Green

Jatazia Jamie Neshea Green, 312 Barber Ave., Beckley, four days old, died Dec. 24, 2006, in Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

Letha Mildred Harrison

GILBERT — Letha Mildred Harrison, 75, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2006.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Justice Tabernacle Church, Justice. Friends may call 6 to 11 p.m. today at the church.

Tully Larew

GREENVILLE — Tully Larew, 74, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston.

Born March 13, 1932, at Greenville, he was the son of the late Robert and Gladys Broyles Larew.

Mr. Larew was a farmer and retired school teacher, having last taught Vocational Agriculture at Narrows High School, Narrows, Va.

He was a 1949 graduate of Greenville High School, a 1958 graduate of Berea College, and received his Masters Degree in Agriculture from West Virginia University. He was past president of the Virginia Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association, a member and past president of the Greenville Ruritan Club, past national director of Ruritan, past district governor of Ruritan, and served as chairman of the Board of the Ruritan Foundation. He was currently serving as Farm Bureau president in Monroe County, he was a member and elder of the Centerville Presbyterian Church, Greenville, W.Va.

Mr. Larew was an avid woodcarver and was noted for his kind gestures of giving away wooden hearts that he so lovingly carved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Sune.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Larew; a son, James T. Larew of Augusta, Ga.; three daughters, Gladys Carter and husband, the Rev. Robert Carter, of Petersburg, Alaska, Bonnie Walsh and husband, Richard Walsh, of Lindside, Janet Haag and husband, Dr. Matthew Haag, of Peterstown; nine grandchildren, Martin Carter, James, Rebecca, Thomas and Elizabeth Walsh, Steven, Allen, Autumn and Evan Haag; four brothers, Robert Larew and wife, Celestina, of Willow Grove, Pa., Conrad “Coon” Larew and wife, Delene, Wilbur Larew and wife, Irene, Charles Larew and wife, Dorothy, all of Greenville; four sisters, Roberta Allison and husband, Alvin, of Charleston, Margaret Moore and husband, Eugene, of St. Albans, Genevieve Heatwole of Romney, and Julia Light and husband, Paul “Buddy,” of Marie.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at the Hans Creek Union Church, Hans Creek Road, Greenville, with Pastor Ronald Obenchain officiating. Burial will follow in the Larew cemetery on Hans Creek Road.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, and at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to Centerville Presbyterian Church or the Ruritan Foundation in Tully’s memory.

Russell E. Lego Jr.

DANESE — Russell E. Lego Jr., 80, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, at the home of his son, Rusty Jeffrey in Jeffrey, W.Va., after a short illness.

Born April 7, 1926, at Glen Jean, he was the son of the late Maggie Pittman Lego and the late Russell E. Lego Sr.

Mr. Lego was a retired coal miner, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and had also worked as a truck driver for Royal Coal Company.

Survivors include his wife, Marion Carrie Shuck Westfall Lego of Danese; a son, Russell “Rusty” Jeffrey of Jeffrey; four stepdaughters, Delores Holmes of Charleston, Karen Williams of Culloden, Debra Ford of North Carolina and Edna Ford of Virginia; three sisters, Florence of Danese, Thelma of Ohio and Bettie of Virginia; two brothers, Larry of Fayetteville, and George of Hilltop; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Mike Gunnoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel.

Brenda V. Lilly

FOREST HILL — Brenda V. Lilly, 55, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at her home after a sudden illness.

Arrangements are incomplete at Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton.

Charles Leonard Mabry

VIRGINIA — Charles Leonard Mabry, 86, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006.

Born March 9, 1920, he is the son of the late Obie and Pearle Mabry.

Charles was a WWII veteran, serving in North Africa, Sicily and Italy from 1941-1944. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars.

Charles was a safety inspector for Westmoreland Coal Company for forty years. He was a member of the Mason’s and graduated from Welch High School in Bluefield.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mabry; and sister, Imogene Wyatt.

Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Eldred Mabry and wife, Ellen, of Madison Heights, Va.; brother, Franklin Leeland Mabry and wife, Lura, of Hillsville, Va.; sisters, Vergie Nance of Hillsville, Va., and LaLa Little of Lakeland, Fla.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with the Rev. Darrell McNeely officiating.

Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to the service.

Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr., Beckley.
