Larry Delano Jones

DANESE — Larry Delano Jones, 66, of Brooke Lane in Danese, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Plateau Medical Center of Oak Hill, following a sudden illness.

Born April 27, 1939, at Layland, he was a son of Pearl Faye Lester Jones of Danese and the late Ernie Jones.

Mrs. Jones was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the National Rifle Association and was retired from Volkswagon of America, where he worked as a parts supplier in the shipping warehouse.

Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Carole Brooke Jones, in 2003.

Other than his mother, survivors include his daughter, Jill Leeann Jones of Danese; his son, Brent Warren Jones of Port Republic, Md.; two sisters; and three grandchildren, Benjamin Jonthan Nolan, Kyrstein Leeann Nolan and Lacey Brook Jones.

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Opha L. Keith Sr.

LINDSIDE — Opha L. Keith, Sr., 83, of Lindside, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born Sept. 15, 1922, at Gilmer, he was the son of the late Opha L. and Katie Katherine Campbell Keith, Sr.

Mr. Keith was a retired maintenance worker from the Greenbrier Hotel and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Keith; a son, Opha “Buddy” Keith, Jr.; a brother, Orville Keith; and two sisters, Eula Mae Parker and Helen Greener.

Survivors include three sons, David W. Keith of Rock Camp, Charles Miller of Lebanon and Donald “Buck” Gallion of Ranger; two daughters, Rellanna M. Hellmick of Blue Lick and Sharon R. Buckland of Rock Camp; one stepdaughter, Shirley Hall of Rock Camp; two brothers, Asa Keith of calhoun and Lawrence Keith of Stouts Mills; two sisters, Marie Rogers and Goldie Frazier, both of Sand Fork; special granddaughter, Kristy Buckland; 15 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Fortner cemetery, Lindside.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 until 9 p.m.

Jack Thomas Lilly

Jack Thomas Lilly, 77, of Sunset Drive, Beckley, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at his home, following a long illness.

Randy Lee Shelton

Randy Lee Shelton, two- day-old infant son of Jeremy and Jill Janney Shelton of Cabell Heights, Beckley, became God’s little angel on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at a Morgantown hospital.

Arrangments are pending at Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.

Maggie Stewart

GREENWOOD, S.C. — Maggie Lusher Stewart, 87, resident of 306 Clairmont Drive, Greenwood, S.C., wife of Curtis M. Stewart, Sr. of the home, died Oct. 9, 2005, at National Health Care in Greenwood, S.C.

Born in Stanaford on April 5, 1918, she was a daughter of the late James L. and Ora Barrett Lusher.

She was a retired receptionist from Certified Grocery of Ocala, Ocala, Fla., and was a member of the First Christian Church in Ocala, Fla. She had made her home in Greenwood, S.C., since 2003.

Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by a son, James “Bobby” Stewart.

In additon to her husband, survivors include her son, Curtis M. Stewart, Jr. and wife, Jackie, with whom she made her home; three grandchildren, Timi Eddy and Teri Lake, both of Greenwood, S.C., and Jeanie Michaels of Dunnellan, Fla.; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m.Tuesday in the Oakbrook Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, with the Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. Entombment will be in the Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum. The body is at Blyth Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of Druid Hills and will receive friends immediately following the service at the Oakbrook Memorial Park Family Center.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Blyth Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the Stewart family.

Harold Williams

Harold Williams, 79, of Shady Spring, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, in a Beckley hospital, following a short illness.

Born on April 18, 1926, in Shady Spring, he was the son of the late Lennie Cooper Williams and Owen Williams.

Harold was owner of Williams Top Shop in Beckley for 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was stationed on a small island in the Pacific called Iwo Jima.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Richmond Williams, on Sept. 11, 2004; five brothers, Noel, Norvel, Oval, Earl and Eden; and by six sisters, Ina, Lena, Edith, Willie, Virginia and Nita.

Survivors include his son, Eddie of Shady Spring; a brother, Herbert Williams of Johnson City, Tenn.; and by a large extended family.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Shady Spring, with the Revs. Delvin Elwell and Joe Pizzino officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call this evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jim Lowry, Eugene Lilly, William Phillips, O’Neal Phipps, George Cook, Jim Chambers, Fred McMillion and Wayne Farley. Honorary pallbearers will be Thad Dorsey, Donald Gragg, David Wilson, David Burgess, Adam Wood, Brett Crouse, Adam and Brent Beha, Adam Redden, Glenn McGuffin and all other friends of the family.

Glenna Mae Smith Beckett

Glenna Mae Smith Beckett, 76, of Crab Orchard, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at her residence following a long illness.

Born July 20, 1929, at Fireco, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Theodore and Luda Mae Yan-cey Smith.

Mrs. Beckett was a bookkeeper for the UMWA, District 29, retiring in 1988. She had been a member of Crab Orchard Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she was a former choir director. Glenna had been treasurer of the Fellowship Sunday School Class as well as a member of Mission Circle No. 2.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Hartsel Beckett, in 1979; an infant brother, Luther Smith; and a teenage sister, Lois Smith.

She was a lifetime resident of Raleigh County.

Survivors include her daughter, Rita Beckett Goodman and her husband, John, of Crab Orchard; two sons, Mason Hartsel Beckett Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Thomas Eanon Beckett and his wife, Dena, of Pax; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margie Smith Beckett of Crab Orchard.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Crab Orchard Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Shields and the Rev. Todd Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Donations of sympathy may be made to Crab Orchard Missionary Baptist Church Choir, P.O. Box 466, Crab Orchard, WV 25827.

Barbara K. Brewer

DURBIN — Barbara K. Brewer, 61, of Durbin, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2005.

Graveside service and burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at Arbovale cemetery.

Frances Pauline ‘Polly’ Hooten Crouch

OAK HILL — Frances Pauline “Polly” Hooten Crouch, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born July 28, 1922, at Helen, she was the daughter of the late James Raymond and Mary Jane Hooten.

Her husband, C.E. “Buddy” Crouch, a brother, James Hooten, and three sisters, Leslie Decker, Cora Wimbish and Hazel Withrow, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee Gonzales and husband, Art, and Terri Lyn Harvey and husband, Mike, all of Oak Hill; a son, Charles Crouch and wife, Helen, of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Leslie Gonzales-Faust, Art “Buddy” Gonzales and wife, Ann, Kelli Ann Sewell, Jonathan Crouch, Katie Crouch and Mary Beth Kees; nine great-grandchildren, Will Faust, Zachary Gonzales, Jeremy Gonzales, Aaron Gonzales, Jacob Gonzales, Benji Gonzales, Henley Ellen Sewell, Michael Crouch and Megan Crouch; and a sister, Doris McClung of Oak Hill.

Polly was a retired postmaster and full-time volunteer at Plateau Medical Center where she cheerfully greeted the staff and patients each morning with, “Good morning, Mountaineers: Isn’t it a beautiful day that God has made? Be sure to stop by the gift shop for fresh biscuits and muffins.”

She was a selfless lady whose life of faith in Christ was expressed in the genuine care and concern for anyone that she met.

As a longtime member of Lochgelly Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher, her walk of faith was a beacon of hope that led numerous young people to accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

A closed-casket visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Bill McClung officiating. Burial will be at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her memory to Lochgelly Baptist Church, Lochgelly, WV 25866, or the Volunteer Scholarship Fund, Plateau Medical Center, 430 Main St., W., Oak Hill, WV 25901.

Lucy Miller Ferguson

UNION — Lucy Miller Ferguson, 100, of Union, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Greenbrier Manor Nursing Home, Fairlea.

Born Sept. 11, 1905, at Wikel, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Nettie Copeland Mann.

Mrs. Ferguson was a homemaker and a member of the Indian Creek Club. She also attended Spingfield Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Miller; her second husband, James Ferguson; two sons, Elvin and Mickey Miller; a daughter, Viola Jean Miller; three sisters, Hattie and Mable Mann, and Mae Harvey; a granddaughter, Lynn Nivens; and a great-great-granddaughter, Melanie Perron.

Survivors include two sons, Ralph Miller of Maryland and Randolph Miller and wife, Edna, of Union; a daughter, Juanita Thomas of Union; a granddaughter she raised, Connie Miller of Finksburg, Md.; grandchildren, Gregory Miller, Viola Zimmerman, Joyce Gebhart, Patricia Cros-ier, Debbie Whitney, Jeffery, Wayne and Dennis Miller; 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with Elder James H. Boothe and the Rev. Eugene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in Mount View cemetery, Wikel.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mable Marie Beckett Grose

ANSTED — Mable Marie Beckett Grose, 73, of Ansted, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at cemetery Hill cemetery, Russellville. Friends may call noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted.
