GILBERT — Tharon H. Arnold, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Gilbert Presbyterian Church. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of Gilbert Presbyterian Church or the charity of choice.

Linda Christian

PETERSTOWN — Linda Christian, 58, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005.

Bonnie Alene Davis

Bonnie Alene Davis, 90, of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, following a long illness at the Raleigh Center.

Born Sept. 9, 1915, in Pocahontas, Va., she was the daughter of the late Conley G. and Ora Swim Pierce.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a longtime volunteer at the Beckley VA Medical Center. She was a longtime member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and the Wednesday Morning Prayer Group.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John K. Davis; a daughter, Carolyn A. Davis; two brothers, Clarence G. Pierce and Billy S. Pierce; and a son-in-law, Allen Bonds Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Billie J. Bonds of Beckley and Barbara J. Clifton and her husband, Roy, of Roanoke, Va.; a sister, Retha Peak of Beckley; four grandchildren, Cindy Parker and her husband, Gary, of Beckley, Kim Bonds of Charleston, Melissa Clifton and her fiancé, Eric Shepherd, of Vinton, Va., and Jonathan Clifton and his wife, Christie, of Roanoke; four great-grandchildren, Patrick Parker of Beckley and Taylor, Jacob and Gracie Clifton, all of Roanoke; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Phil Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Riffe, Les Haga, Steve Sturgill, James Bond, Ken Jennings and Dale Fitzpatrick.

Donation of sympathy can be made to the Raleigh Center, P.O. Box 741, Daniels, WV 25832.

Katherine Reavish Easley

Katherine Reavish Easley, 90, loving wife, mother and grandma, went peacefully to be with the Lord at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Tyron, N.C., to Joe L. Reavish and Lula Hannon Reavish.

Katherine came to accept Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a very faithful, active member of St. Matthew A.M.E. Church. She was a woman of God who was dedicated to serving in the church as a member and secretary of the Sarah Allen Missionary Society, president of the Stewardess Board, member of the Senior Choir, served on the Kitchen Committee, member of the Willing Workers Club, attended Sunday school and a member of the Vacation Bible School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Easley, and a son, John Cox.

Survivors include three children, Joe Louis (Shirley) Cox, Rose Lee (Vincent) Bass and Della (Gary) Rodgers, all of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Ola Mae Brooks of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Service will be noon Monday at St. Matthew A.M.E. Church with her pastor, the Rev. Abner Wright, and close friends officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour before service Monday at the church.

Willie Mae Green, 78, of 405 Stanaford Road, Beckley, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at SunBridge Pine Lodge Care and Rehabilitation.

Moody E. Hawks

PETERSTOWN — Moody E. Hawks, 78, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005.

Kenneth ‘Sonny’ Hawver

FAYETTEVILLE — Kenneth “Sonny” Hawver, 65, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at Plateau Medical Center following a sudden illness.

He was born June 13, 1940, at Hico, a son of the late Alton and Viola Neal Hawver.

Kenneth was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He served in the United States Army and was a former operator of the Pines Motel at Beckwith.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Esther Leigh Hawver; a sister, Mary Ann Hawver; and a brother, Alton Jasper Hawver.

Survivors include a sister, Sharon Marie Manning of Oak Hill; and a brother, Kyle Donald Hawver of Indianapolis, Ind.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted, with Pastor Doug Eades officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted, is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth LeRoy Bryant

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Kenneth LeRoy Bryant, 80, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. today in the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to service.

SIMON — Chester Ravin Cline, 55, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006.

ROANOKE, Va. — Mary K. Riner Comer, 92, formerly of Lindside, went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown. Friends may call 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty Jo Dilly

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — Betty Jo Dilly, 71, formerly of Beckley, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville.

She was born April 27, 1935, in Beckley, a daughter of the late John Arthur and Mary Marie Yearout Parks.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Parks.

She is survived by her husband, Albert Lee Dilly; two sisters, Margie Rose of Cleveland, Ohio, and Elaine Munson of Beckley; and brothers, John Parks of Cleveland, Curtis Tarr and Michael Tarr, both of North Carolina, and Bill Frye of Beckley.

Service will be noon Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley, with the Rev. David Minturn officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.

Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville.

Nancy Marie Wood Foster

Nancy Marie Wood Foster, 95, of 328 Myers Ave., Beckley, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at the home of her beloved daughter, Doris Lucille, and son-in-law, Fred Quesenberry, and her loving daughter was by her side.

Born March 2, 1911, at Egeria, she was the daughter of the late James Alexander Wood and Arminta Hornsby Wood.

Mrs. Foster was a homemaker. She was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years. She attended Jones Memorial Baptist Church and was a volunteer at Pinecrest Hospital for over 30 years. She loved to garden, flowers and taking care of others.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Lee Foster, in January 1981; a son-in-law, Carson Combs, in July 1981; a grandson, Carson “Chris” Combs, in 1983; brothers, Franklin, Lewis, Bryan, Newton, Wilson and Jim Wood; and sisters, Viola Hatcher, Ora Calloway, Opal Cooper, Dorothy Stump and Rachel White.

Survivors include daughters, Doris Lucille Quesenberry and husband, Fred, of Beckley, Peggy Hylton and husband, Don, of Lewisburg, Betty Epperly and husband, Carlyn, of Johnson City, Tenn., and Janice Thurber and husband, Bill, of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandsons, James Quesenberry and wife, Kathy, of Grandview, David Hylton of Ashland, Ky., Darrell Hylton and wife, Molly, of Huntington, Greg Hylton and wife, Cara, of Lewisburg, Jerry Epperly and wife, Suszane, of Springfield, Mo., Bobby Combs of Jacksonville, Charles Combs and wife, Drenia, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Steven Combs and wife, Deborah, of Jacksonville; granddaughters, Anna Vanderlaan and husband, Dale, of Ravenswood, Nancy Netherland and husband, Jerry, of Findley, Ohio, Melissa Simmons and husband, Dwayne, of Beckley and Andrea Jevic and husband, Scott, of Jacksonville; great-grandchildren, Jamie and Jenna Quesenberry of Grandview, Hannah Eichburger and husband, Greg, of Ashland, Megan Huffman and husband, Josh, of Huntington, Joe Hylton of Ashland, Kathie and Garrison Hylton of Lewisburg, Jeffery Epperly of Trenton, Mo., Jared Epperly of Independence, Mo., Angela McBride and husband, Mike, of Columbus, Ohio, Jason Netherland and wife, Kim, of Mansfield, Ohio, Ben and Carly Combs of Jacksonville, Courtney and Carson Combs of Tallahassee, Annabelle Combs of Jacksonville and Cori, Kacie and Cooper Jevic of Jacksonville; stepgreat-grandchild, Jordan Delugo of Jacksonville; great-great-grandchildren, Amanda Netherland of Mansfield, Samuel Eichburger of Ashland and Jaden and Ava Huffman of Huntington; many nieces and nephews; special thanks to her caregivers, Kitty Wills, Queen Schoolfield and Dolly Wine; and Hospice nurses, Tonya, Tracy, Joan and Michelle.

Service will be 1 p.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Paul Blizard and Dr. Rick Metrick officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends called Thursday at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Jimmy Quesenberry, Bobby Combs, Charles Combs, Stephen Combs, David Hylton, Greg Hylton, Darrell Hylton and Jerry Epperly.

Flora Hale

DOBSON, N.C. — Mrs. Flora Mae Richardson Hale, 75, widow of Dr. Christy Mathewson Hale, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006.

She was born April 22, 1931, to Bessie Irene McGary Richardson and the late Samuel Isaac Richardson.

Mrs. Hale taught school for 22 years in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Billings, Mont., before moving to North Carolina. She taught at St. Paul School in Cana, Va., for 20 years. She and her late husband, Christy, also owned and operated Shadewood Acres Iris Gardens for several years prior to his death in 2002.

Mrs. Hale is survived by her mother, Bessie Irene McGary Richardson, 99, of Idaho; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Brian and Joan Hale of Charleston, S.C., Michael and Connie Hale of Dobson, Daniel and Cheryl Hale of Lowgap, N.C., and Jonathan Hale of Dobson; a daughter and son-in-law, Edie and Lee Collins of Dobson; seven granddaughters, Melissa, Emily, Sarah and Megan Hale, Ashley, Haley and Kristin Collins; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Hale; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris Hafer and husband of Idaho, Pearl and Frank Radler of Nampa, Idaho, and Shirley and Tom Archibald of Idaho; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Caroline Richardson and Marvin and Virginia Richardson of Idaho; a brother-in-law, Joe Hale of Coal City; and a niece, Linda Farley of Dobson.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hale Family cemetery with the Rev. Darrell Tate and the Rev. Joey Lane officiating and interment to follow.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. today at Moody-Davis Funeral Home, Dobson.
