E.D. ‘Buck’ Davis

GREENVILLE, Texas — E.D. “Buck” Davis, 61, formerly of Beckley, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Texas.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Jim Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park, Greenville.

Mr. Davis was born May 3, 1945, in Beckley to Elmer Ray Davis and Mary Belle Williamson. He married Brenda Johnson on June 23, 1997, in Greenville. He was a route supervisor for Encore Games. He was a member of the American Legion, Ducks Unlimited and Am Vets.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; stepson and wife, James and Tammy Shields of Caddo Mills, Texas; stepson, Robbie Holden of North Carolina; stepdaughter, Charlene Shields of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler Shields and Stephanie Shields of Caddo Mills, Texas, and Ethan Holden of North Carolina; brothers, Jerry Davis of Greenville, Norman R. Davis of Beckley, Kenny Davis and Jim Davis of Mount Olive; sister, Brenda Goddard of Plano, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Pat Allen, Jack Linton, Gary Rutter, Bobby Clark, Lewis Squires and Ricky Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Whitworth and Quinten Land.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 23, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Carlos R. Duff

Carlos Richard Duff of Hart Street, Beckley, formerly of Bradshaw and Prestonsburg, Ky., passed away Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Beckley following a two-year illness. He was 60 years of age.

Ruby Jean Michelinie

FAIRLEA — Ruby Jean Michelinie, 78, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, after a short illness.

Born May 12, 1928, at Ronceverte, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie H. and Glenna J. Honaker Morgan.

Mrs. Michelinie had been a life-long resident of Ronceverte and Fairlea, member of Greenbrier Regular Baptist Church of Ronceverte and was retired from the Federal Prison as a correction officer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Sheldon R. Michelinie; a daughter, Beverly Clements of Fairlea; two sons, Lanny R. and wife, Emma Michelinie, of Beckley and Brian S. Michelinie of Fairlea; a sister, Peggy Webb of Fairlea; a brother, Lonnie H. Morgan Jr. of Clifton Forge, Va.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Graveside service and burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Mike Estep officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Kaylee and Chloe Page

LINDSIDE — Kaylee Page passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Princeton Community Hospital, and Chloe Page passed away Friday, April 20, 2007, at Women and Children’s Hospital in Charleston.

Kaylee and Chloe were twin daughters of Jeremy and Rebecca Ratliff Page of Lindside.

Lillian Morton Pennington

HODGES, S.C. — Lillian Morton Pennington, 85, of 116 Windmere Drive, widow of Walter D. Pennington, died Friday, April 20, 2007, at Hospice House in Greenwood, S.C.

Born at Grandview, she was a daughter of the late James Ralph and Gertrude Adkins Morton.

Mrs. Pennington was a homemaker.

Survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth Plumb of Blythe, Calif., Lou Ann Pridemore of Waterloo, S.C., Hazel Ruth Jordan of Hopewell, Va., and Nina Gail Harrison of Greenwood; four sons, Alvin Pennington and Danny Pennington, both of Waterloo, Paul Pennington of Maryland and James Allen Pennington at home; two sisters, Nellie Redden of West Virginia and Flora Belle Morton of Columbus, Ohio; five brothers, Paul Morton, Tom Morton, John Morton, Arlis Morton and Jim Morton, all of Grandview; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Cryptside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. today at Harley Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorials may be made to Hospice House, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Donal ‘Deacon’ Petrey

SUMMERSVILLE — Donal “Deacon” Petrey, 64, died Friday, April 20, 2007.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville. His body will be cremated.

Willie Edward Robinson

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.

A time to be born: Willie Edward Robinson was born July 3, 1913, in Halifax County, Va., to his wonderful parents.

It was then a time to grow: He grew and received his education in public schools in Virginia.

Then it became his time to move out on his own ... he migrated to Carbondale, where he remained until entering into the United States Army where he served his time and received an honorable discharge. After which, he settled in Washington, D.C., where he remained until again returning back to West Virginia. He loved the state of West Virginia. He loved his church and his friends which he had many of.

Willie leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Florine Henderson; a nephew, William Edward “Eddie” Henderson (wife Annie); a niece, Cheryl Henderson, all of Alexandria, Va.; four great-nieces; a great-nephew; and a host of relatives and friends.

There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor.

Service for Willie will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Church Assembly, Mount Hope, with Elder Les Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

Friends may call one hour before service Tuesday at the church.

Lula Frances Sharp

CASS — Lula Frances Sharp, 91, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Arbovale. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jason Patrick Shrewsberry

Jason Patrick Shrewsberry, 35, of Shady Spring, formerly of Austell, Ga., died Sunday, April 15, 2007, in Austell.

He was the son of Carol Shrewsberry of Austell and the late Jerry Shrewsberry.

He was a friend to many and was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jasper and Helen Shrewsberry; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Mae Perkins; and an uncle, Ted Perkins.

Other survivors besides his mother include a brother, Jeff and wife, Christy Shrewsberry, of Villa Ricca, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Amber, Jacob and Macie Shrewsberry; half brother and half sister, Jarrod and Jennifer Shrewsberry; three uncles, John, Dean and Bill Perkins; an aunt, Pat Williams; and cousins, Thomas, Dean, George, Sabrina, Greg, Allen, Eric and his wife, Tammy.

His body was donated to the Anatomy Gift Register so that children may have a chance living due to his generosity.

There will be a memorial service held in his memory at a later date.

Linden James Stevens

LAKE MILTON, Ohio — Linden James Stevens, 82, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Stevens was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Green Sulphur Springs, the son of the late Ezra John and Ruby Jewel (Dunbar) Stevens.

On Aug. 10, 1947, he married Ruth Mae Gazdik. He retired in 1979 at the age of 55 after 33 years as a steel worker at Republic Steel. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.

Mr. Stevens was a member of Lakeview Assembly of God. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and sawing trees. Linden was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Wilson and Betty Jo Stevens.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Mae Stevens; three sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Cheryl Stevens of Lake Milton, Mark and Linda Stevens of Berlion Center, Ohio, and Philip and Sandra Stevens of Grassy Meadows; sister and brother-in-law, Ralph and Vera Goodge of Youngstown, Ohio; sister, Freda Wadagaza of Asheville, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Shelby and Lois Stevens of Pearce, Ariz.; brother, Darrel Stevens of Deerfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Assembly of God, Lake Milton. Burial will follow in Eckis cemetery.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at James Funeral Home, Newton Falls, Ohio.

The family ask that contributions take the form of donations to Lakeview Assembly of God Memorial Fund.

Wilma G. White

NEOLA — Wilma G. White, 67, died Friday, April 20, 2007.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Beaver Creek cemetery Chapel. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton.

Francis ‘Frank’ Yurkins

OAK HILL — Francis “Frank” Yurkins, 80, died Friday, March 9, 2007.

Committal service will be 11 a.m. Friday at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill. Friends may call 10:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at the mausoleum.

Cora E. Talbert

FAYETTEVILLE — Cora E. Talbert died at age 70 on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, in Hamilton, Ohio, after a long illness.

Cora was born May 8, 1935, in Fayette County. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Donza Hitchcock; her husband, Charles Madison Talbert; and infant son, Gary Wayne Talbert; and several brothers and sisters.

Cora was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by five sons, Charles (Donna) of North Carolina and Michael (Kathy), James, Jerry (Tara) and Terry (Michelle), all of Virginia; four daughters, Barbara Sue Garcia (Henry) of New Mexico, Patty Case (Larry) of Pennsylvania, Mary Saye of West Virginia and Cindy Johnson (Mark) of Ohio; 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three brothers.

Cora was an active member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren until the time of her illness. She was very involved with the community and to those around her. Cora was one who placed the needs of others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all who had the great fortune to be a part of her life. We love you, Mom.

Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Gatewood Road, Fayetteville, with service beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant View cemetery.
