Tiny Kesner Gill

HINTON — Tiny Kesner Gill, 67, passed away Monday Oct. 17, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a short illness.

Born March 23, 1938, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late William and Nina Kesner.

Ms. Gill was a homemaker and had lived all of her life in Summers County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey L. Gill; a daughter, Nancy Ann Gill; two brothers, Elwood and Brother Kesner; three half brothers, Ernest, Lacy and James Simmons; and a half sister, Lena Simmons.

Survivors include seven sons, Leonard Gill of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert Gill of Hinton, James Gill of Richmond, Va., Kenneth Gill of Pennsylvania, Danny Gill of Richmond, John Gill of Talcott and Jerry Gill of Hinton; three daughters, Barbara Young of Richmond, Bonnie Gill of Pennsylvania and Alice Gill of Pipestem; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Jody Kesner of Hagerstown, Md.; three sisters, Mary Raia of Hughestown, Pa., and Dorothy Adkins and Betty Jane Adkins, both of Hinton; a half brother, Tony Simmons of Pomeroy, Ohio; and countless nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Johnny Wills officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Eileen Harless Griffith

LANDVILLE — Eileen Harless Griffith, 79, of Logan County, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Landville Freewill Baptist Church. Friends may call 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Ralph W. Mills

Ralph W. Mills, 80, of Egeria, died Tuesday, Oct.18, 2005, in a local health care center following a long illness.

Born June 14, 1925, at Egeria, he was the son of the late Willie and Ethel Wood Mills.

Mr. Mills was a barber for 32 years and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Oliver, Cephus, Raymond, Bernard and Lowell Mills; a sister, Mae Novack; and a grandson, Marc Gregory Mills.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Rosa Mills; two sons, Dan Mills of Goose Creek, S.C., and Jim Mills and wife, Pam, of Daniels; three grandchildren, Steven Mills, Jason Mills and his wife, Melissa, and Jessica Mills; a brother, Kenneth Mills and wife, Macel, of Beckley; a sister, Vertle Halsey of MacArthur; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Lighthouse Community Church, Egeria Road, with Pastor Arthur Dangerfield officiating.

Burial will follow in Mills Family cemetery, Egeria.

Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Leslie W. Phillips, 73, of White Oak, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2005, at the Salem, Va., VAMC.

Robert Franklin Ratcliffe Sr.

NIMITZ — Robert Franklin Ratcliffe Sr., 72, of Cave Ridge Road, died at his home Tuesday morning, Oct. 18, 2005, following a short illness.

Hilda E. Romans

MASSILLON, Ohio — Hilda E. Romans, 80, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Aultman Hospital.

She was born Oct. 3, 1925, at Leslie to the late Raymond and Ethel (Nutter) Miller.

Mrs. Romans moved to Massillon in 1969. She was a homemaker and enjoyed having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her. They will always remember sharing her love: of gospel and country music and working in her garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer M. Romans, in 1994; two sons, Johnson and Randy Romans; sisters, Emma Elkins and Elena St. Clair; a brother, Curtis Miller; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children and their spouses who will dearly miss her, Nera and David McManus, Foster and Shauna Romans, Opal and George Snyder, Pamela and Charles Palaski, Deborah and David Davis, Homer E. Romans and Curtis Romans; a sister, Virginia Loftin and husband, Raymond; a brother, Alfred Miller; 23 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted by the family.

Lois H. Scarbro

CENTREVILLE, Md. — Lois H. Scarbro, 80, a native of Durbin, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005.

Memorial graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Arbovale Annex cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Durbin United Methodist Church, Durbin, WV 26264.

Ada Mabel Sims

VICTOR — Ada Mabel Sims, 79, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.

Mrs. Sims was born Sept. 29, 1926, at Ansted and was the daughter of the late Frank and Leota Skaggs Cole.

She was retired from Hawks Nest State Park as a cook and was a member of Ansted Baptist Church and attended Lighthouse Worship Center at Hico.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Earl Sims, on Jan. 2, 1989; four sisters, Kathleen Bibb, Hazel McGraw, Lizzie McHenry and Mary Lou Hall; and a brother, Sherman Cole.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Houchins and her husband, Lee, of Ansted; a son, Leslie Michael Sims and his wife, Yvonne, of Victor; two sisters, Inez Eades of Ansted and Nellie Eades of Ansted; a brother, Harold Cole of Ansted; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Clyde Wood of Ansted.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted, with Pastor Larry Gawthrop, Pastor Jack Eades and Pastor Doug Eades officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dottie Hazel Stone

GILBERT — Dottie Hazel Stone, 80, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.

Born Jan. 5, 1925, at War Eagle, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Rose Lowe and the late Calvert Cecil Stone.

Mrs. Stone was a homemaker and a member of the Protestant faith.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and an infant brother, Jack Lowe, Wilbur Lowe and Don Lowe.

Survivors include a son, Davie Stone and wife, Rosemary, of Hanover; four daughters, Grethen White and husband, Dick, of Gilbert, Kathy Murphy and husband, Randy, of Beckley, Mitzie Ward and husband, Michael, of Lenore and Robin Hatfield and husband, Ricky, of Gilbert; 12 grandchildren, John White, Wes White, Stacy Murphy, Brooke Murphy, Shasta Ward, Erin Stone Cook, Tara Murphy, Celia Ward, Andy Hatfield, Katie Stone, Anthony Ward and Darcy Hatfield; a sister, Goldie Stacy of Lake Wales, Fla.; and a brother, Rennie Lowe and wife, Mildred, of Beckley.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, with the Rev. Bill Cresong officiating. Burial will follow in Hatfield cemetery, Sharon Heights (Hampden).

Friends may call noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Eva Violet Treadway

Eva Violet Treadway, 80, of Clear Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, after a long illness.

Born July 18, 1925, at Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Okie Stearns Maynor.

Ms. Treadway was a good Christian and attended White Oak Advent Church of Artie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Scotty” Treadway; two daughters, Anita Scarbro (Treadway) and Katherine Treadway; two brothers, Quinton and Tracy; and three sisters, Dorothy, Carmen and Ruth.

Survivors include a son, William “Bill” Treadway and wife, Kathy, of Clear Creek; a daughter, Regina “Penny” Withrow and husband, Charles, of Colcord; a brother, Ken Maynor of Clear Creek; a sister, Mildred Nash of Clear Creek; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She will be sadly missed by her family and many loved ones.

The family wishes a special thank you to the workers of Hospice of Southern West Virginia.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at White Oak Advent Church, Artie, with the Pastor Roy Runion who will be assisted by Joe Barnett.

Burial will follow in Maynor Family cemetery.

Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.

Friends may begin calling at 6 p.m. today at the church.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, is serving the family.

RAINELLE — Beulah Beane, 88, of Rainelle, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2007.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
