UNION — Marvin Mason “Bear” Reynolds, 55, of Union, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2005.

Rita Pietrantozzi Richmond
Rita Pietrantozzi Richmond, 62, of Scott Ridge Road, Beaver, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at home following a long illness.
Born March 21, 1943, at Portsmouth, Va., she was the daughter of the late Dido Pietrantozzi and the late Andril Torrico Pietrantozzi.
Mrs. Richmond was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1961, where she served as class president. She attended Beckley College. Mrs. Richmond was a homemaker, a former administrative assistant at BJW Printing and Office Supplies, and a former service coordinator at Raleigh General Hospital. She also served for many years as a volunteer at the hospital.
Mrs. Richmond was a member of Grandview Christian Church for more than 40 years. She served as president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and director of Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ronald Richmond. Other survivors include her two sons, Dr. Brian Richmond and wife, Linda, of Charleston and Eric Richmond and wife, Carrie, of Racine, Wis. Three beloved grandchildren also survive her, Hailey Richmond of Charleston, and Samuel and Gabriel Richmond of Racine. Mrs. Richmond is also survived by her only brother, Gene Pietrantozzi and wife, Susan, of Glenview.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastors Oscar Schwitzerlette and Terry Newton officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth A. Shiflet
RICHWOOD — Kenneth A. Shiflet, 65, of Hinkle Mountain, Richwood, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at his residence after a long illness.
He was an Army veteran. He had Shiflet Transfer Co. of Richwood. He was a former employee of Island Creek Coal Co., Muddlety, and High Power Energy, Summersville. He attended Riverside Baptist Church, Richwood.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Shiflet; a son, the Rev. Kenneth Paul and wife, Lylian Shiflet, of Elkins; three daughters, Kimberly and husband, Lee Wolf, of Webster Springs, Kathy and husband, Dennis Leatherman, of Oakland, Md., and Kelly and husband, Mike Tyler, of Hinkle Mountain; eight grandsons and a granddaughter.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, with the Rev. Brant Seacrist officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Park, Richwood.

ITMANN — Heather Nicole Sizemore, 11, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Feb. 4, 1994, at Welch, she was the daughter of Donnie Ray Sizemore of New Richmond and Rosilie Hall Sizemore of Itmann.
Heather was a fifth-grade student at Mullens Middle School and was a faithful attendant of Sweet Home Baptist Church where she was an active member in the Youth Group.
Her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Zina Amol Hall, and paternal great-grandparents, Zida and Isabell Adkins, preceded Heather in death.
In addition to her parents, those left to cherish her memory are a sister, Hali Lynn Heizer at home; paternal grandparents, No. 1 Papaw and Maw-maw, Ronnie and Gladys Sizemore of New Richmond; maternal grandmother, Beulah Newshame and her husband, Walter, of Ohio; maternal great-grandmother, Betty Metzger; several aunts and uncles, Chrissy Sizemore Lowe and husband, Leonard, of Lashmeet, Roxie Hatfield and husband, Lou, of Oceana, Sheila Carter and husband, Rob, of North Carolina, Shirley Trent and husband, Jess, of Oceana, Ruby Parsons of Bud, Benny Hall and wife, Rita, of Matheny, Kenny Hall of Matheny, Jimmie Vance of Glen Fork, Paul Vance and Billy Green of Ohio; cousins, Kevin and Mike Mullins of Lashmeet, Thomas, Kenny and Rebecca Hall of Oceana, Ron “Pug” Morgan of Oceana, Robbie Carter of North Carolina, Amanda Hatfield and husband, Richard, of Matheny, Benji Hall of Logan and Margaretta Honeycutt and husband, Bobby, of Bald Knob; great-uncle and aunt, Tom Brunk and Debbie of Ohio; extended family in Ohio; and special grandma and grandpa, Linda and Larry England of Mullens.

Sula Soter, 76, of Beckley, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Greystone Inn at Daniels following a long illness.
Born at Mount Hope on Aug. 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Athas and Helen Karakasis Soter.
Miss Soter was a retired employee of Verizon as a supervisor and was a member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Beckley.
Survivors include her sister, Freda Soter of Beckley.
Service will be 3 p.m. Monday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 200 Virginia St., Beckley, with Father David Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Thelma Jean Cheek Burgess
Thelma Jean Cheek Burgess, beloved mother and grandmother, 63, of Beckley, died Friday at her residence of natural causes. Born Dec. 4, 1943, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Mamie Phipps Cheek. She was retired from the housekeeping department at Pinecrest Hospital and was of the Baptist faith. She was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County.
Survivors include her sons: Kevin Cheek and his wife Tammy of Beckley and Mark Cheek and his wife Angie of Beckley; grandchildren: Megan Cheek, Morgan Cheek, Kevie Cheek, Kris Cheek, Michael L. Cheek, Mark Cheek, II, Scott Cheek and Michael A. Cheek; and her last surviving sibling, her brother, Sam Cheek and his wife Pat of Crab Orchard.

CRAIGSVILLE — Rose Mary Tharpe, 48, of Craigsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, in Summersville Memorial Hospital, Summersville, after a long illness.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Richwood. She was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She adored her nieces and nephews. She was a 1977 graduate of Richwood High School and always looked forward to her class reunions. She liked to play bingo and watch television. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her mother, Camilla Zangari Tharpe of Craigsville; her father, Oscar Tharpe and Connie Propst of Summersville; two brothers, Mike and wife Dorothy Tharpe of Craigsville and Oscar, Jr., and wife Patricia Tharpe of Cottle; a sister, Linda Kay and husband Steve Willis of Craigsville; a stepbrother, Steven and wife Melanie Propst of Fort Riley, Kan.; best friend, Carolyn Cox Hanna of Craigsville; eight nieces, Theresa and Anna Willis, Amber Nicole Tharpe, Gabrielle and Phalam Fleming, Kaitlynn, Breanna, and Gabrielle Propst; and six nephews, Brian Michael and Brandon Lee Tharpe, Chance and Lance Sheets, Nathaniel and Nicholas Propst.

Joy Tilley
SABINE — Joy Tilley went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at the age of 73 years, seven months, and 11 days, following a long illness.
Born May 25, 1933, at Keyrock, she was the daughter of the late Alton and Hailey Stewart Phillips.
Mrs. Tilley was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sons, Kenneth Tilley, Richard Tilley, Jerry Tilley, Stevie Tilley, and an infant son; four grandchildren, Tyler Francis, Michael Tilley, Kimberly Wise, and Brian Tilley; and a brother, Leonard Phillips.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Curtis Tilley of Sabine; six children, Rhonda Allen and her companion Gary Frazier of Sabine, Charles Tilley and his wife Patricia of Glen Fork, Gary Tilley and his companion Janet Belcher of Sabine, Ricky Tilley and his companion Joyce Tilley of Sabine, Tammy Francis and her husband Garrett of Glen Fork, and David Tilley and his wife Norma of Glen Fork; four sisters, Jenell Sleboda of Virginia, Kay Decker of Sophia, Judy Sparks of Pineville, and JoAnn Thompson of Bluefield; a brother, Alton Phillips, Jr., of Oceana; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; special people in her life, Ashley Allen, Jason Tilley and his companion Shenna Griffith and her baby, Cameran J. Tilley; special son-in-law, Jackie Allen; special lifelong friends, Sherry Pennington and Phyllis Tilley; and a host of friends also survive.
A celebration of Mrs. Tilley’s life will be 2 p.m. today at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Ernest Francis officiating. Burial will follow in Tilley cemetery, Twin Falls. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service today at the funeral home.
