FANROCK — Elsie Juanita Wingler, 73, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2006, in Princeton Community Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 3, 1933, in Del Rio, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Corn Myers.
Mrs. Wingler was a homemaker and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wingler; a son, Richard Wingler; two step sons, Arnold and Luther Wingler; and a brother, Boyd Myers.
Survivors include three daughters, Edith Coe of St. Albans, Nancy Houck and her husband, Joe of Fanrock, and Linda Epperhart and her husband, David of Fanrock; a stepson, Roy Wingler and his wife, Mary, of Twin Branch; a daughter-in-law, Ida Marie Wingler of Bristol, Tenn.; five brothers, Johnnie Myers and his wife, Bertha, of Thomasville, N.C., Dannie Myers and his wife, Pat, of Goldsboro, N.C., Virgil Myers and his wife, Beulah, of Clearfork, Charles Myers and his wife, Gloria, of Surveyor, Joe Myers and his wife, Bonnie, of Matheny; five sisters, Pauline Stewart of Matheny, Faye Bailey of Jesse, Rosie Schoolcraft and her husband, Charles, of Colonial Heights, Va., Carolyn Vaught and her husband, Lawrence, of Geneva, Ohio, and Margie Legg and her husband, Fred, of Red House; three grandchildren, Mark Myers and his wife, Tammy, of Fanrock, J.C. Houck of Fanrock and K.B. Wingler of Bristol, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Andrea Myers and Becca Myers, both of Fanrock; and numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and step great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Ralph Whitten officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

OAK HILL — Cynthia Williams, 51, died Saturday, April 1, 2006.

Margaret ‘Marcie’ Elsie Taylor
WALKERTOWN, N.C. — Margaret “Marcie” Elsie Taylor, 77, of Walkertown, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 10, 2005.
Miss Taylor was born in Beckley, a daughter of the late Arlie Edward and Pearle Pennington Taylor.
She was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church. She moved to Walkertown, N.C., in 1990 from Beckley, and was part owner of the Central Printing Co. in Beckley for some 42 years.
Survivors include three sisters, Lorene Widner of Walkertown, N.C., Marie Lively of Glen White, and Sarah Jane Kallam of Madison, N.C.; three brothers, Ronald Taylor of Kernersville, N.C., Levi Taylor of Wentworth, N.C., and Arlie Taylor of Shady Spring; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Gospel Light Baptist Church by Dr. Bobby Roberson, with burial to follow in the Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gene A. Young
UNION — Gene A. Young, 55, of Union, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, from injuries received while cutting timber at Organ Cave.
Born Aug. 28, 1950 in Hillsdale, he was the son of the late Roy E. and Thelma Forren Young.
He has been a lifelong resident of Monroe County, a Vietnam veteran, a maintenance worker for B.A. Mullican Lumber Co., Ronceverte, and John U. Brown Trucking Company, Union.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Young.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Smith Young of Union; a daughter, Lannie Young and Dean Deel of Gap Mills; one brother, Paul Young and wife Margie of Greenville; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Ft. Spring, with Rev. Jonathan Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Ballard cemetery, Ballard.

Dorothy Lee Ballard
OAK HILL — Dorothy Lee Ballard, 83, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Charleston Area Medical Center.
Born May 14, 1922, at Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Alex Sneed and Sylvana Gibson Sneed.
Dorothy was one of 17 children and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Ballard Sr.; eight sisters and six brothers.
Dorothy was the retired owner of Ballard Fashions in Oak Hill and attended the Oak Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Thomas L. Ballard Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Oak Hill; a daughter, Carla Lokant and her husband, Pete, of Oak Hill; two sisters, Evelyn Sneed of Oak Hill, and Myrtle Smith of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four grandchildren, Leah Marie Evans and her husband, Jereme, of Beckley, Jeffrey Scott Lokant of Charlotte, N.C., Michael Thomas Lokant and Joseph Peter Lokant of Oak Hill; and a great-granddaughter, Ashton Elizabeth Evans.
Service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David White and Pete Lokant officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Robert James ‘Bob’ Dewese
IKES FORK — Robert James “Bobby” Dewese, 80, died Dec. 10, 2005, at his home surrounded by his beloved family and friends.
Mr. Dewese was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Williamson, W.Va., to the late Clyde and Ella Dewese. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde Jr., Charles and Doug; three sisters, Betty, Lillian and Margaret; and three special nephews, Jimmy Legato, Roger Riffe and Eugene Dewese.
Bobby is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Genevieve Cline Dewese; daughter, Sheila Walker and her children, Zack and Kacy of Charleston; a son, Steve and his wife, Robbin Dewese, and their sons, Chase and Chandler of Beckley; a sister and brother-in-law, Gerri and Jimmy Legato of Iaeger; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Charlotte Dewese of Oceanside, Calif.; a special sister-in-law, Loretta Dewese and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Bobby was a graduate of Iaeger High School. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine and was a 100 percent disabled veteran of World War II, having been wounded while in the Pacific Theater on July 9, 1944. He was a member of Hanover Baptist Church.
He was known throughout southern West Virginia for his love of sports and his generous spirit, but most of all for the love and dedication to his family. Bobby was deeply loved by his family and community and will be greatly missed, but he has completed his earthly journey and is now in God’s loving care.

LaVerne ‘Buzz’ Wilson Knuchel
LaVerne “Buzz” Wilson Knuchel, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Oak Hill.
Born June 25, 1918, in Monroe County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fred and Lucy Brown Knuchel.
Buzz was a member of the First Christian Church of Weirton for more than 50 years. He was a retired railroad engineer on the Penn Central and CSX Railroads. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Lucinda Carle Knuchel; and a sister, Juanita Norden.
Survivors include a son, Roger Knuchel and wife, Joan, of Byesville, Ohio; a daughter, Darlene Newell and husband, Donald, of Lochgelly; a brother, Raydon Ted Knuchel; five grandchildren, Mark Knuchel, Ryan Newell and wife, Lisa, Lee Newell and wife, Dawn, JoEva Knuchel Hager and husband, Tim, and Eileen Knuchel and four great-grandchildren, Makayla and Chloe Hager and Tucker and Trent Newell.

Marie Vest Loudermilk
Marie Vest Loudermilk, 73, of Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at the Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness.
Born at Matoaka on April 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Maude Hanks Vest.
Mrs. Loudermillk was a graduate of Matoaka High School and was a graduate of Concord College with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics. She had taught in Clay County, Kanawha County, and retired from the Raleigh County School System in 1990. She had last taught at Stratton Junior High School.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Uhler; and two brothers, Roy and Amos Vest.
Mrs. Loudermilk was a member of the United Methodist Temple in Beckley since 1960, and had taught Sunday School for 30 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and the Eastwood Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Hands All Around Quilting organization.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert Loudermilk; a son, David Loudermilk of Beckley; two daughters, Carol Wood of Beckley and Susan Perry and husband, Rob, of Beckley; two brothers, Joe Vest and wife, Louise, of Flatwoods, Ky., and Perry Vest and wife, Lilly, of Matoaka; a sister, Alma Vest of Beckley; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Vest of Matoaka; five grandchildren, Jonathan and Brianna Wood, Robby Perry III, Ray Perry and Morgan Perry.
Services will be noon Wednesday at the United Methodist Temple in Beckley with the Revs. Dan Johnson and Mona Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church, and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Sponaugle, Rick Gray, Bill Jameson, Bill Baker, A.K. Minter and Walter Winant.
