Diane Fleshman

BALLARD — Diane Fleshman, 57, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at UVA Hospital, Charlottesville, Va.

Born Sept. 1, 1948, at Red Sulphur Springs, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Dean “A.D.” and Sylvia Campbell Miller.

She was a homemaker and attended the Red Sulphur Springs Community Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Fleshman Sr.; grandson, D.J. Fleshman; sister, Mary Haynes; brother-in-law, J.B. Haynes; two nephews and three nieces.

She is survived by her two sons, Ernest Fleshman Jr. of Ballard, and Eddie Fleshman and wife, Bobbie Jo, of Zenith; a brother, John Miller and wife, India, of Princeton; a sister, Lilly Jackson and husband, Carl, of Lindside. She also had one granddaughter, Nikki Fleshman; and a niece, Cindy Easton and husband, Billy.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, with the Rev. Tommy Mounts and Evangelist Roger Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Ballard cemetery, Union.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Arrangements by Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown.

Everett Walter ‘Walt’ Goad

FENWICK — Everett Walter “Walt” Goad, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Geneive Gulliams Hightower

On this day Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, our loved one was called to Him, Geneive Gulliams Hightower, 78, of Stanaford. She died in a local hospital of cancer.

Born April 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John H. Guilliams and Rosa Lunsford Guilliams.

Mrs. Hightower was a member of the Stanaford Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Stanaford. She was a homemaker and loved her gardens.

She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Pete, Okey, Ann Louise and Jewel; and a great-great-granddaughter, Noel.

Survivors include a son, John Hightower; daughters, Dorothy and husband, Kenneth Browning, and Barbare Meade, all of Stanaford; stepson, Rodney and wife, B.J., of Palmyra, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Zingo of Rochester, N.Y.; brothers, James Gulliams and wife, Shirley, of Beckley, Billy Guilliams and wife, JoAnn, of Sanford, N.C., and Danny Guilliams and wife, Linda, of Rochester, N.Y.; and numerous loving nephews and nieces.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with Evangelist Fred Dinkler officiating, and a eulogy by Tessie Alterbaum. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Rosa Bell Lee

Rosa Bell Lee of Prince George County, Md., formerly of Ingram Branch, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, in South Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, Md.

Arrangements are entrusted to Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley.

Alexzander William Carl McComas

Alexzander William Carl McComas, four months old, went to heaven Monday, Dec. 12, 2005.

He is survived by his parents, Christina McComas and Dale Cottrell; sisters and brothers, Chynna, Hannah, Jacob and Dyllan; maternal grandparents, Pam and Leon Smith of Salt Rock and Alfred McComas of Mullens; maternal great-grandmother, Ida Gambone of South Charleston; paternal grandparents, Charles and Beverly Allen of Big Chimney; aunts, Melissa McComas of Charleston, Astacia Bennington of Charleston, Stephanie Moore of Charleston and Michelle Smith of Logan; uncles, Charles Allen Jr. of Big Chimney and Virgil Smith of Salt Rock; and a host of other family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Randy Lanham and John MacKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in Teays Valley Memorial Gardens, Hurricane.

Eugene Robert Mills Sr.

SOAK CREEK — Eugene Robert Mills Sr., 71, died at his home Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 19, 1934, at Helen, he was the son of the late Lundy W. Mills and Peggy E. Milam Mills.

After graduating from Sophia High School, Eugene proudly served his country in occupied Germany as a member of the United States Army. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned home. He then worked 17 years for Slab Fork Coal Company and 20 for Eastern Coal Corporation, retiring in 1987.

Eugene was an avid outdoorsman and spent many happy years hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing with his family and friends. He had a special affection for coon hunting and playing golf.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Mills and Clifton C. “Buster” Mills.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Lola A. Mills of Soak Creek; four children, Joel P. Goings and wife, Teresa, of Princeton, Eugene R. “Butch” Mills and wife, Sharon, of Crab Orchard, Debra E. Pomeroy and husband, Jeff, of Dobson, N.C. and Lundy W. “Link” Mills of Sophia; five grandchildren, Israel R. Mills, Nathan Mills, Jeffrey Pomeroy, Stacy Goings and Robin Bailey; four sisters, Myrtle Basham and husband, Ivan, of Sophia, Betty Lee and husband, Gary, of Minot, N.D., Thelma Mullins and husband, Bill, of East Leroy, Mich., Ruby Rupe and husband, Marvin, of MacArthur; four brothers, Oley Mills and wife, Judy, of Harker Heights, Texas, Roby “Roscoe” Mills and wife, Leona, of Vance Ala., Thurmond “Roger” Mills and wife, Ella, of Soak Creek and Francis “French” Mills and wife, Lynn, of Ghent; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; numerous bowling friends and two special golfing buddies, Clarence “C.O.” Mills and Luther Crump, both of Soak Creek.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Soak Creek Gospel Tabernacle with Pastor Marvin Rupe and Curtis Monk officiating. Burial will follow at Mills Family cemetery, Soak Creek.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home.

Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 147 Virginia St., Sophia, is serving the family.

Dana G. Mollohan

BIRCH RIVER — Dana G. Mollohan, 71, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville. Friendsmay call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Zola I. O’Neal

CORINNE — Zola I. O’Neal, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005.

Born May 24, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Carter and Grace Smith.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank O’Neal; her son, Herb O’Neal; and her son-in-law, Douglas “Skip” Ashley.

Survivors include six children and spouses, Gene and Doris O’Neal, Sam and Jean O’Neal, Dave and Rose O’Neal, Carol Ashley, Gracie and Louie Stone and Donna and Wayne Cayton. She also had 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. David Pollock officiating.

Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

There will be no public visitation.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr., Beckley, is serving the family.

Johnny Edward Runyons

IKES FORK — Johnny Edward Runyons, 66, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with special service at 7 p.m.

James ‘Jim’ Edmond Terry

OAK HILL — James “Jim” Edmond Terry, 78, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at his home.

Born April 11, 1927, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late David James and Gladys Estelle Painter Terry.

Mr. Terry was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 40 years of service. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

He was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended Glenville State College and Beckley College.

Jim was a former football and basketball official and a member of the New River Valley Officials Association for 27 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II and the West Virginia National Guard for eight years.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Elaine Terry Kirk; his second grandchild, Jeremy Pino; a brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores E. Evans Terry; a daughter, Delora Elizabeth “Squeaky” Meadows and husband, Rick, of Beckley; a son, James E. Terry of Huntington; three grandchildren, Samantha Elizabeth Gibson of Oak Hill, Rachel and Joshua Pino of Beckley; and four great-grandchildren, Tierra Roop, Derek Roop, Nikolas Gibson and Mia Elizabeth Hess.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Father Roy Crist officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, WV Division, 301 RHL Blvd., Station 6 and 7, Charleston, WV 25311 or Hospice of Southern W.Va., P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25801 or the Minden Community Meeting Center, P.O. Box 359, Oak Hill, WV 25901.

Athleen B. Wilfong

Athleen Brown Wilfong, 78, of Fairdale, formerly of the Pine Knob section of Naoma, went home with the Lord, Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at the home of her daughter.

She was born April 18, 1927, at Peach Tree, a daughter of the late Barney Howard and Edith Lafferty Brown.

Mrs. Wilfong was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, the Rev. Fred A. Wilfong; two brothers, Quentin Brown and French Brown; and two sisters, Virginia Dickens and Pauline Turner.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Gloshen and husband, William, of Fairdale, with whom she made her home, Linda McCoy of Hillsboro, and Lisa Bowers of Crab Orchard; five sisters, Sylvia Amos of Ava, Mo., Ruby Dickens of Naoma, W.Va., Madeline Belcher of Colonial Heights, Va., Patsy Miller of Villa Park, Ill., Frankie Lawson of Beckley; a brother, Dennis Brown of South Dakota; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; special thanks to her caregivers, Sandy Daniel and Jenny Collins. The family would also like to extend their thanks to Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their loving care.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ruckman cemetery at Mill Point with Pastor Jack Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Ruckman cemetery, Mill Point.

There will be no visitation.

Calvin B. Anderson, 57, died Dec. 12, 2005, at VA Medical Center.
