Gary A. Sheets, 32, of Milton, son of Wayne and Edna Foster Sheets of Milton, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton; burial in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Ronald O. O'Dell

Ronald O. O'Dell, 81, of Milton, W.Va., passed away Monday, February 7, 2005, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 10, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev. T.J. DuBose. Entombment in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born February 5, 1924, in Bruce, W.Va., a son of the late Lewis W. and Bessie Corbett O'Dell. He was retired from the State of West Virginia Insurance Commission, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Vivian Herold O'Dell; one daughter and son-in-law, Ronna O. and Kenneth J. Clark of Milton, W.Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joan O'Dell of Milton, W.Va.; two grandsons, Bryan M. O'Dell and his wife, Erin, and Rickie Clark; one great-grandson, Alec; and a host of family, friends, neighbors, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Milton Baptist Church, Milton, WV, or Hospice of Huntington, Box 464, Huntington.

Jerry Daniel Withrow

Jerry Daniel Withrow, 62, of Milton, died Monday, February 7, 2005 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar; burial in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Josephine Blake

Josephine Blake, 80, of Ona, WV, died Sunday, February 6, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev. James Dailey. Burial in Union Ridge Cemetery. She was born November 26, 1924, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Willie and Florence Tincher Holley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Blake Jr., two brothers, Bob and Willard, and three sisters, Cornelia, Zadie and Maxine. She is survived by five children, Billy and Judy Blake of Barboursville, Helen Dean and Mike Clagg of Milton, Bobby and Carla Blake, Betty and Keith Jeffers and Brian Blake, all of Ona; four brothers, Emory, Chester, Fred and Paul; one sister, Nora Mae; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Kevin Jeffers, Billy Blake Jr., Bruce Dean, Timmy Blake, William Blake and Justin Shull.

Olen T. Harper

Olen T. Harper, 82, of Barboursville passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2005. Funeral service were conducted Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at Harper Memorial Church, Harmony, W.Va., by Dr. Ed Grant. Burial in Harper Family Cemetery. He was born May 12, 1922, in Higby, W.Va., a son of the late Thomas O. and Dixie McCrosky Harper. He was a funeral director for more than 60 years, and a founder of the former Hess & Harper Funeral Home, Clendenin, W.Va., and was an employee of the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, since 1966. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the I.O.O.F, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Madeline Carey Wallace Harper; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Larry and Carolyn Harper of Burlington, N.C., and Kim and Patricia Harper of Danville, W.Va.; one sister, Virginia Johnson of Tell City, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Mattill and Virginia Carey; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, Barboursville, or the Harper Memorial Church, Harmony, W.Va. military graveside services conducted by Post 61 American Legion, Clendenin, W.Va.

Gladys Hager Wintz Hume

Gladys Hager Wintz Hume, 91, of Huntington, formerly of Lesage, entered peaceably into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 6, 2005, in Heritage Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with the Rev. Keith Watters officiating. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Pea Ridge, Huntington. She was born March 6, 1913, in Lincoln County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Woody and Roxie Hager. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Irvin Wintz and Dennis Hume; and one son, Dale Wintz. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon K. and Odell Bellomy of Midkiff; one son, Ronald Wintz of Huntington; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Charles E. Hill Jr.

Charles E. “Skeebo” Hill Jr., 48, of Hometown died January 29, 2005, of injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born June 26, 1956 in South Charleston, the son of Charles Hill Sr. and the late Mary Jane Barnett Hill of Hometown.

He was the supervisor of transportation for the Putnam County Board of Education with 27 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Wilkinson Memorial United Methodist Church, Hometown. He was a firefighter for the Bancroft Fire Department. He was a legion member of the Nitro Moose Lodge and a member of the Beast Of The East Boating Association and an avid boater.

Surviving: wife, Debbie Gibson Hill; daughters, Jessica Hill of Southern Pines, North Carolina and Lindsay Hill of Supply, North Carolina; stepson, Anthony Scott of Hometown; step-daughters, Samantha Scott and Sarah Scott, at home; grandson, Riley Hill of Supply; a host of family and friends.

Service was held Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Winfield High School. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House. Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Patricia J. Armentrout

Patricia Jean Armentrout, 70, of Poca died February 4, 2005, in Thomas Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Raymond City Community Church and the Christian Motorcycle Association. She was also a former employee of Poca Super Market.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce E. Armentrout.

Surviving: daughter, Barbara Jean and husband, James May, of Poca; sister, Betty Meadows of Poca; brother, Morris Cowley of Nitro; grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Hatfield and husband, Greg, of St. Albans, Wendi Leigh Kenworthy and husband, Paul, of Culloden, Bruce Wayne Jones and wife, Renee, of Poca, Doug May and wife, Jamie, of Poca; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Emily, Morgan, Micah, Max, Jayla and Timmy.

Service was held Sunday, February 6, 2005, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca. Burial was in Hughes Cemetery, Nitro.

Dorothy Mae Null

Dorothy Mae Null, 73, of Hometown died February 3, 2005, in Teays Valley Center.

She was a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R. Null, and sons, Roy Maxey Null and David Null.

Surviving: children, Richard Null and wife, Dottie, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, Charlotte Buoy and husband, John, of Winfield, Mike Null, Randy Null, and Annette Null, all of Hometown; grandchildren, Mamie Buoy and Stella Buoy, both of Winfield, and Dakota Null of Hometown.

Service was held Monday, February 7, 2005, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, with Paul Arthur officiating. Burial was in New Antioch Cemetery, Red House.

Elozine E. Johnson

Elozine Edwards Johnson, 71, of Hurricane died February 6, 2005, at Lincoln Continuous Care Center, Hamlin.

She was born April 15, 1933 to the late Samuel and Edna Mynes Edwards. She was retired from Putnam County Schools.

Surviving: son, Rick Edwards of Hurricane; brothers, Ray Edwards of Culloden and David Edwards and wife, Kay of Scott Depot; sister, Inez Bird and husband, Lee, of Hurricane; uncle, Harold Mynes of Hurricane; nephews, Bob Bird and wife, Nikki, Keith Edwards and wife, Julie, and Scott Edwards; niece, Melanie Jacobsen and husband, Brendt; special friends, Kathy Joyce and Regina Francis, and her best friend and faithful companion, Tiny.

Service was held Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with the Rev. Jim McGehee officiating. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery.

Jesse D. McClanahan

Jesse D. McClanahan, 42, of Poca died February 3, 2005.

He was an iron worker for Local No. 301, an Army veteran and an organ donor.

Surviving: wife, Juanita J. McClanahan; children, Caleb and Dylan McClanahan, both at home, and Terry McClanahan of Hometown; parents. Robert “Bob” and Brenda McClanahan of Poca; brother, Bobby McClanahan of Bluefield.

Memorial service was held Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at the Lovejoy Cemetery, Poca. military honors were presented by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Jesse D. McClanahan Trust Fund, c/o People Credit Union, 419 First Avenue, Nitro WV 25143.

Gary Lester Newton

Gary Lester Newton, 60, of Huntington, passed away February 1, 2005. He was born December 2, 1944, in Ansted, W.Va., a son of Alma Sheaves Newton of Huntington and the late Clifford Newton. Also surviving are two sisters, Norma Brizendine and Ina Byrd; one brother, Rick Newton; several nieces and nephews and one special friend, Lillian Hardesty. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Ronnie Leland Nash

Ronnie Leland Nash, 60, of Barboursville, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 3, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Carl Vallance. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born November 6, 1944, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Julia Bias Roach and the grandson of the late Emarilla Bias. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Herise Workman Nash; two daughters, Nicole and Tina and one granddaughter, Jade, the apple of his eye; brother, Danny Nash; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Charles Walker, Peggy and Randy Adkins and Janet Hope. He was a devoted husband, father, and papa who is loved and will be missed.

Raymond Hicks

Raymond Hicks, 80, of Salt Rock, died Sunday, January 30, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor James Jobe. Burial in Forest Memorial Park Milton. He was born June 22, 1924, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Vernil and Essie Cremeans Hicks. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Winford and Herman Hicks. He was retired from Cabell Huntington Hospital, was a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Lora Legrande Hicks; one daughter, Angie Pitts and her husband, Mike of South Point, Ohio; four sons, Allen Hicks and his wife, Joyce, of Barboursville, Montie Hicks and his wife, Teresa, of Salt Rock, Randy Hicks and his wife, JoAnna, of Fayetteville, N.C, and Steven Hicks and his son, Matthew, of Salt Rock; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

B. Maxine Coleman

B. Maxine Coleman, 74 of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Paul Meadows officiating. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born September 30, 1930, in Hamlin, W.Va., a daughter of the late James Maxie and Juanita Mae Scites. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Eugene Scites, her husband, Clyde Coleman Jr. and Keith L. Arthur. Maxine was a graduate of Huntington East High School Class of 1948. She began her work career at Mootz's Bakery and went on to serve as County Clerk and Magistrate at the Cabell County Court House. She retired in 2001 with 26 years of service as a secretary for United Steelworkers of America Local 40. She was a member of Barboursville Church of Christ. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory Eugene and Donna Coleman of Athens, W.Va., and Jerry Allen and Christine Coleman of Milton, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Kattie Marie Walters and her husband Donnie of Barboursville, W.Va., Curtis Max Coleman and Carlie Mae Coleman both of Milton, W.Va.; a great-grandson, Cole Landon Walters and daughter-in-law, Mona Lisa Cooper Jordan. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Patricia Workman for her loving care and dedication to Maxine and also to Hospice of Huntington for the care and concern given to Maxine by the nurses and staff. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington.

James Lewis Hunt

James Lewis Hunt, 77, of Barboursville passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at his home. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 5, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Bob Galloway and Pastor Mark McKay. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born November 4, 1927, in Putney, W.Va., a son of the late John D. Lewis Hunt and Helene Kinsolvin Hunt. He was also preceded in death by a son, James Anthony Hunt and two brothers, Howard Hunt and Raymond Hunt. He retired from the Gulf Oil Corporation and was a veteran of the US. Navy serving in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Muriel Frances Lawson Hunt; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Harold Bias of Barboursville and Deborah and Larry Thaxton of Milton; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Hunt of Cincinnati Ohio; two sisters, Barbara Fetty of Huntington and Jean Smith of Ohio; two brothers, Thomas Hunt of Texas and Middleton Cleveland Hunt of Ona; four grandsons, Scott Hunt, Kyle Hunt, Aaron Bias and Ryan Bias.

Golda Kelley

Golda Kelley, 91, of Milton, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005, in Morris Memorial Nursing Home, Milton. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Dr. Thomas J. DuBose officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born January 1, 1914, a daughter of the late Reece and Ella Jarvis. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Kelley; seven brothers and sisters and one grandchild. After raising her family in Milton. Golda lived several years in Westerville, Ohio, and after retiring from Riverside Hospital, she returned to Milton. She was a member of Milton Baptist Church, the Order of Eastern Star 149 in Milton and a former member of North Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by one son, Bill Kelley and his wife Janet of Milton; three daughter Dixie and her husband Jim of Milton, Dorothy Wise of Milton and Judy Kidner and her husband Raymond of Grove City, Ohio; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. The family is very appreciative of the care and kindness shown to her by Rose Greene and the aides and nurses at Morris Memorial Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the April Dawn Park Fund c/o Bank One Milton (April Dawn Kelley was a granddaughter of Golda Kelley.) Frances Oneida Elkins

Frances Oneida Elkins, 84, of Barboursville, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at her residence. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, with the Rev. Bobby Dailey officiating. She was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Albert and Nora Morrison Keenan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawson “George” Elkins Sr.; one son, Benjamin Elkins; and three brothers. She was a member of Susannah Baptist Church. She is survived by five daughters, Linda Elkins, Leafy Elkins, Sharon Sifrit, Shirley Wagner and Lila Bledsoe; five sons, Lawson Elkins Jr., Clovis Elkins, Gary Elkins, Albert Elkins and Harry Elkins; three brothers; six sisters; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two very special caregivers, Wanda Morgan and Dorothy Workman. Russell Blake

Russell Blake, 86, of Glenwood, W.Va., went peacefully to his heavenly home Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005 in St. Mary's Medical Center, with his immediate family by his side. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor George Surgeon and Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Interment in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Mr. Blake was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Mason County, W.Va., the son of the late John L. and Daisy Meadows Blake. He was retired from BASF Corp., Huntington. He was a member of Lawrence Chapel Church, Glenwood. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Erma L. Cooper Blake; two daughters, Shirley Jackson and special friend Mike Wolfe of Roanoke, Va., and Linda and Dwight Kirby of Glenwood, W.Va.; and three sons and daughters-in-law, Harlin and Darlene Blake, Marlin and Jeannie Blake and Roger and Kimberly Blake, all of Glenwood. He is also survived by one brother, Johnnie Blake of Glenwood; eight grandchildren, Michael Jackson, Kevin Blake and spouse, LaAnna, Sherry Blake Kirwan and spouse, Stephen, Maranda Blake Spry and spouse, Warren, and Ashley, Kara, Kaitlyn and Morgan Blake, and seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Brittany and Summer Jackson, Brittany and Blake Kennedy, Audrey Spry and Tristyn Blake. Mr. Blake was preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam Powell and Omega Perdue, and two brothers, Rufus and David Blake.

David E. Linville

David E. Linville, 57, of Barboursville passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Elmwood Baptist Church by Pastor Rick Glass. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born June 3, 1947. in Barboursville, a son of Lenora Gothard Linville of Barboursville and the late John Linville. He was an employee of BFI and was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ferguson Linville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Herb Talkington of Greensboro, N.C, and Amanda and Patrick Hansen of Conyers, Ga.; one son, Scott Linville of Barboursville; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Dennis Herrenkohl of Barboursville; his mother-in-law and his father-in-law, Lois Ferguson of Barboursville and the late Austin Ray Ferguson; and seven grandchildren, Jake Talkington, Elizabeth Talkington, Mykenzie Linville, Katie Talkington, John David Hansen, Victoria Hansen and Austin Linville. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Deloris Wanda Pinkerman

Deloris Wanda Pinkerman, 71, of Barboursville, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Cabell County, a daughter of late Ira John and Nellie Nida Gue. She worked as a produce manager at Big Bear in Huntington until her retirement. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, George Pinkerman; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Mike Christian of Barboursville; two sons will daughters-in-law, George Jr. and Brenda Pinkerman and Greg and Georgia Pinkerman of Barboursville; three sisters, Lora and Darius Hall, Shirley and Johny Jordan and Sue and Larry Brown; one brother, Ira Edward and Dottie Gue; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey and Deanna Pinkerman, Chad and Brandie Pinkerman, Brian and Melanie Pinkerman, Chris Pinkerman, Melissa and Matthew Christus, Casey Christian, Whitney Christian and Bianca Pinkerman; and great-grandchildren Madeline, Faith and Brady Pinkerman and Bentleigh Christus. She also leaves a large and loving extended family and circle of friends. She would want mentioned a very favorite friend, her cat Sheba. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Redith Mae “Dickie” Burgess and two brothers, Carroll Buford and Donald Dwight Gue. The family would like to thank Glory Way Baptist Church, of which she was a member, its pastor, David Cardwell and his wife Dorothy and its members who offered their prayers and support.

A special thanks to the Oncology Unit at St. Mary's Medical Center and Hospice of Huntington. We look to our church friends and family for comfort in his time of sorrow. We look to God for our eternal life. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 7, 2005 at Henson Mortuary, Pea Ridge; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
