IAEGER — Anthony Dotson, Sr., 82, of Johnny Cake, Iaeger, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, following a brief illness.
Born May 27, 1924, at Mohawk, he was the son of the late Garfield and Ruby Coleman Dotson.
He attended the Freewill Baptist Church of Ikes Fork. He spent his days loving his wife and children, adoring his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and taking care of animals. He loved being outdoors and especially loved going for drives.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Margie Bailey Dotson of Johnny Cake, Iaeger; a son, Anthony Dotson, Jr., of Welch; a daughter, Barbara A. (Donnie) Stafford of Oceana; two grandsons, David C. (Shannon) Phillips, Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mark S. (Kimberly) Phillips of Beckley; a granddaughter, Kendra Lee (Jason) Brown of Eccles; five great-grandchildren, Maddison, Megan, Jordan, Parker, and Mallory; three sisters, Elsa Estep and Helen Bailey of Iaeger, and Ellen Wilson of Thomasville, NC; and a special friend of the family, Mildred Manuel of Welch.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, with the Rev. Homer Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Baileys Family cemetery at Lower Long Pole, Panther.

Thomas William Evans
Thomas William Evans, 96, of 215 Westmoreland St., passed away Jan. 10, 2007, at Raleigh General Hospital, following several months of illness.
Born June 5 in Raleigh, he was the son of the late Angus B. and Viola V. Wood Evans.
He was a teacher principal. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, was a Trustee, and was also a member of the American Legion A.W. Calloway Post 70. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy White Evans; a sister, Ada M. Reid; and two brothers, Angus B. Evans, Jr., and Billy E. Evans.
Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Ruby J. Evans Freeman of Beckley.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, with Rev. David McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Talcott cemetery, Talcott.
Friends may call from 6 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral parlor.

ROCKVIEW — Margaret Blankenship Johnson, 54, of Rockview, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, following a short illness.
Born June 22, 1952, at Hurley, Va., she was the daughter of the late Troy and Dora Hurley Blankenship.
Mrs. Johnson was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the 101st Airborne Association where she was a Lady Eagle. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, her dogs, and being with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Johnson of the residence; a son, Daniel Cline and his wife Kim of Isaban; two daughters, Kelene Blankenship Belcher and her husband Mark of Rockview and Deborah Faye Grey and her husband Clarence of Peterstown; a brother, William C. Blankenship and his wife Billie of Jesse; six grandchildren, Gadge Allen Grey, Latishia Belcher, Mikeala Belcher, Tyler Grey, Mark Ethan Belcher, and Danielle Cline; and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 8 p.m. today in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Donald “Doc” Adkins officiating.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today prior to the service.

Carl Douglas Cole
ROANOKE, Va. — Carl Douglas Cole, age 52, formerly of White Sulphur Springs, passed away early Sunday morning at his niece’s home after an extended illness.
He was born June 17, 1954 in Covington, Va., a son of the late Thornton Eugene and Agnes Fogus Cole.
Mr. Cole was a salesman at Macy’s Department Store in Roanoke, Va. He was also a 1973 graduate of Greenbrier East High School.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a great nephew, Samuel Simms.
He is survived by one brother, Samuel Thornton Cole of White Sulphur Springs; one niece, Tina Simms of White Sulphur Springs; one nephew, Mike Cole of White Sulphur Springs; two great nieces, Laela Simms and Summer Cole, both of White Sulphur Springs, two great nephews, Daniel Simms and Mikie Cole, both of White Sulphur Springs, and one great-great -niece, Olivia Simms also of White Sulphur Springs.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Lewisburg with Rev. Bobby McClintic officiating.
The family received their friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2007 at Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs.

Cecil V. Conway
ANSTED — Cecil V. Conway, 84, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, following a long illness.
Cecil was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Lookout, he was a son of the late Isaac Conway and Flossie Pike Conway. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Billie Conway on July 15, 2000, and two brothers, Harry Conway and Leslie Pat Conway.
He was a Marine veteran of World War II, a disabled American veteran, a Veteran of Foreign Wars and a member of Signal Knob Lodge 90 of the Knights of Pythias.
He was a heavy equipment operator, a truck driver for McLean Trucking Co., owner and operator of B & C Carry Out and a retired school bus driver for Fayette County Board of Education.
Survivors are two nieces, Sharon Simmons & Phyllis Salyer and a nephew, Terry Conway, all of Ohio; caregivers and friends, Harold and Ilene Dufour and Pearl Skaggs.
Service will be 3 p.m. today at the Chapel of Rest Mausoleum, Victor, with Pastor Ron Eagle officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
No visitation prior to the service.

James T. Dorsey
NETTIE — James T. Dorsey, 70, of Nettie, passed away Saturday night, Jan. 13, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital of Charleston, following a sudden illness.
Born Dec. 16, 1936, at Buckhorn, W.Va. he was a son of the late John A. and Lillie M. Taylor Dorsey.
Mr. Dorsey was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church of Nettie, where he taught Sunday School. He was a member of Summersville Masonic Lodge No. 76, a member of Camden-on-Gauley Order of the Eastern Star, and was past master of the Richwood Masonic Lodge.
James was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Loretta Ball Dorsey of Nettie; a daughter, Kimberly Mullins and husband, Mike of Lynchburg, Va.; two sons, Gregory Dorsey and wife, Sheryl of Charlotte, N.C. and Doug Dorsey and wife, Robyn of Nettie; two sisters, Norma Smith of Lincoln Park, Mich. and Wanda Middleton of Sanford, Fla.; two brothers, Alva Dorsey of Mt. Nebo, and Leon Dorsey of Mt. Nebo; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Olive Branch Baptist Church of Nettie, with the Rev. Stuart Stover officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery, Nettie.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
The White Flights will be released at the cemetery as a final tribute.
