BOZOO — Janice E. Ball, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William ‘Bill’ Burleson Sr.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in the quiet early morning hours on his beloved farm, William “Bill” Burleson Sr., of Saxon Road, Glen Daniel, went to be with the Lord. He was 70 years of age.

Born William Fred Burleson at Sabine on Sept. 27, 1936, he was the son of the late Fred and Blanche Stover Burleson.

Bill spent his childhood at Saxon on the Burleson family farm. A graduate of Trap Hill High School, he attended West Virginia University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and physics. He taught at Trap Hill High School, retiring from Liberty High School with 29 years of service in the field of education. An engaging man, who enjoyed family and friends, he was at his best when farming. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny, and sisters, an infant, Bethel Jewell Burleson, and Ruth Snuffer.

He was the beloved father of William F. “Billy” Burleson II at home. Other survivors include his former wife, Irene Burleson of Matheny, and her daughters, Terri Ann Cozart and her companion, Johnny Winn, and Vicky Milam, all of Beckley; six grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Marsh of Crab Orchard, Charlotte Estes and her husband, Millard, of Medway, Ohio, Mary Sue Burleson of Glen View and Norma Jean Henderson and her husband, Troy, of Saxon; two brothers, Frankie Burleson and his wife, Sharon, of Auburn, Ind., and Charles Burleson and his wife, Rosie, of Portland, Ore.; several nieces and nephews; and many former students, countless friends and neighbors.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Jerry Cantley officiating. Burial will follow on the Burleson farm.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary and one hour before service Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Larry Ransom, Robert Henderson, Mark Harold, Rick and Gary Daniel, and Scott and Jason Henderson.

Harry Collins

Harry Collins, 77, of 144 Mellon St., Beckley, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at the Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.

Born July 23, 1929, at Skelton, he was the son of the late Robert Collins and Bessie Crowder Collins.

He was a retired steel worker. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ann Collins, in 1984; and daughter, Brenda Schroeder.

Survivors include his sons, Terry Collins of Baltimore, Md., Dewayne Collins of Baltimore and James Collins of Springfield, Miss.; sisters, Evelyn Johnson of Beckley, Ida Harold of Illinois and Drema Grant of Petersburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; loving companion, Ruth Collins of Beckley; and longtime friend, Bill Saunders of Elkton, Md.

There will be no service.

Geneva ‘Neva’ Bailey Fralic

PINEVILLE — Geneva “Neva” Bailey Fralic, 97, ended her life’s journey on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Fralic’s name to Pineville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 382, Pineville, W.Va. 24874.

Helen L. Gorman

OCALA, Fla. — Helen L. Gorman, 83, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in an Ocala hospital following a short illness.

Born June 10, 1923, at Curtin, she was the daughter of the late Louis Edward and Elsie Fulks Davis.

Mrs. Gorman was a retired teacher, having last taught in Kanawha County schools. She had resided in Ocala for the past 19 years where she was a charter member of Ocala West United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Nelson and James Davis.

Mrs. Gorman is survived by two children, her daughter, Sharon Calfee and her husband, P.H., of Beckley, and her son, Gregg Gorman and his wife, Beverly, of Westfield, N.J. Also surviving are her brother, Ed Davis of Ashland, Ky.; her sister, Betty Henderson of Naperville, Ill.; her sister-in-law, Ruth Davis of Tucson, Ariz.; her granddaughter, Cheryl Quinlan and her husband, Tim, of St. Albans; grandsons, Dr. David Calfee and Chris Gorman of New York City, and Adam Gorman of Harrisburg, Pa.; and great-grandchildren, Michael and Alyssa Quinlan of St. Albans.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, with Dr. Bob Stoddard officiating.

Donations of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, W.Va. 25802, or Kanawha Hospice Care, 1001 Keenawa Drive, Charleston, W.Va. 25311.

Timothy Austin Green

Timothy Austin Green, 45, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.

Born Nov. 16, 1960, he was the son of Darrel and Theda Green.

Tim served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a loving husband, father and a great friend. He loved his family, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and NASCAR racing. Tim was a graduate of Pineville High School and attended Concord University where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma. He worked as a plumber for the Beckley Sanitary Board. He last attended Old Grove Chapel Church.

Tim was preceded in death by a grandfather, Oscar Green; a sister, Vicki Green; and grandfather, Boyd Tilley.

Those left to cherish his memory include wife, Kris Cozort Green of Topeka, Kan.; son, Cutter Green of Topeka; daughter, Courtney Green Boyd and husband, Michael Boyd, of Clarksville, Tenn.; parents, Theda (Bib) Green and Darrell Green of Keyrock; brother, Craig Green and wife, Tina Green, of Timmins Ontario, Calif.; sister, Kim Browning of Beckley; brother, Jim Miller of Sophia; brother, Rodney Lilly and wife, Julie, of Beckley; grandmother, Rachel Green of Pineville; grandmother, Gyneth Tilley of Keyrock; nieces and nephews: Todd Cornett, Zachary Lilly, Jordan Lilly, Megan Miller, Nicholas Miller, Jon McKinney and Jay McKinney; father-in-law, Glen Cozort; and an extended family of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Ronald Adkins officiating.

Graveside rites will be at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Perdue-Green cemetery, Pineville.

Pallbearers will be Mike Boyd, Todd Cornett, Zachary Lilly, Rodney Lilly, Jim Miller, Bryan Shrewsbury, Nick Miller, Jeff Adams, Chris Adams and John Peplowski. Honorary pallbearers are co-workers from Beckley Sanitation Board.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.

Friends may gather with the family 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Beulah Lila Hall

Beulah Lila Hall, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006.

She was the daughter of Walter and Della Adkins.

Beulah was originally from Jumping Branch and made her home in Gloucester, Va., with her daughter, Geneva Carr, until she entered a nursing home in 2003. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hall, a sister and three brothers.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include daughters, Geneva Carr and husband, Harold, of Gloucester and Helena Wills and the late Eugene Wills of Poquoson, Va.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Iris Lucas of Beckley, Oday Jessup of Beckley and Lila Hopkins of Coal City.

Service will be noon Saturday, Nov. 11, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. William Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may gather with the family one hour before service Saturday at the funeral home.

Alma Elizabeth Harless

BELLBURN — Alma Elizabeth Harless, 89, formerly of Quinwood, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at the home of her daughter Joan in Bellburn.

Born Sept. 9, 1917, at Winona, she was a daughter of the late Darius and Inez Thomas Hoke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Harless, in 1991; and an infant daughter, Sonja Cletious Harless.

Mrs. Harless was a loving wife and mother, and was a member of Quinwood United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Nell J. Hayes of Charlestown, Ind., and Joan R. Dorsey of Bellburn; a son, John Dale Harless of Beecher, Ill.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Lee Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

MARTINSBURG — Nellie Johnson of Martinsburg, formerly of Beckley, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Martinsburg.

Cindy Lou Flint Justice

RONCEVERTE — Cindy Lou Flint Justice, 43, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Greenbrier Baptist Church, Ronceverte. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg.

Edna Earle Stafford McBrayer

ROCKVIEW — Edna Earle Stafford McBrayer of Rockview, formerly of St. Albans, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at the age of 80.

Edna was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Oil Springs, Ky., and was the daughter of the late Earl and Vera Mahan Stafford.

Edna attended Berea College and Morehead State University in Kentucky and taught for several years in Johnson County schools. She worked as a department head and buyer for the Diamond and Stone & Thomas department stores for over 20 years. She was a resident of St. Albans for 48 years and was very active in her church, St. Andrews Methodist, ladies circle, homemakers club and bridge club.

In October 2001, Edna moved to Rockview to be near her daughter and family where she attended Cook Memorial Baptist Church when physically able.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Homer Wilson McBrayer; a sister, Betty Jo Stafford; and a nephew.

Survivors include her daughters, Terry S. Murray and her husband, Matthew, of Rockview and Carolyn Jane McGraw and her husband, Michael, of Beltsville, Md.; a sister, Mary Evalyn Rice and her husband, Donald, of Warren, Mich.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Goodson and her husband, Scott, of Indian Trail, N.C., and Madeline Cook and her husband, R.J., of Turkey Creek; a grandson, Michael W. McGraw of Crofton, Md.; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Zoe Cook and Andrew and Parker Goodson; two nieces, four grandnephews and a great-grandnephew.

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with Chaplain Donald L.D. Rice officiating.

The family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be noon Saturday, Nov. 11, at Cunningham Memorial Park Mausoleum, St. Albans. Burial will follow. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the mausoleum.

Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville, is serving the McBrayer family.
