PETERSTOWN — Mary M. Riner Spangler, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dana A. Titta

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Dana A. Titta, 57, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at her home.

Born Dec. 13, 1948, in Roanoke, Va., she was the daughter of the late Amos A. Graham and the late Sara Frances Preston Graham of Princeton and daughter-in-law of Mary Frances Titta of Ghent and the late Carl C. Titta.

Mrs. Titta was retired from the Spartanburg, S.C., public school system.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Gerald C. Titta; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Warner of Chesapeake; a son and daughter-in-law, Jamey and Angelia Titta of Anderson, S.C.; three brothers and their families, Steve Graham of Tenhook, Va., Dave Graham of Crab Orchard and Ken Graham of Missouri City, Texas; a half brother, Stacy Graham and family of Roseville, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Lindsey, Lauren, Madison, Ashleigh, Michael, Robyn and Nolan.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, Princeton, with her nephew, the Rev. Joshua Jenkins, and the Rev. Paul Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donations of sympathy may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Laura Margaret Tygrett White

FAYETTEVILLE — Laura Margaret Tygrett White, 92, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at the Ansted Center following an extended illness.

Born Nov. 9, 1913, at Ottawa, she was the daughter of the late Marion A. Tygrett and June Woods Tygrett.

Mrs. White was a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church. She graduated from Fayetteville High School. She worked 20 years as a telephone operator for C&P Telephone Co. and 20 years as a clerk for Kresges in Detroit, Mich., now known as Kmart, before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pagel R. White; six brothers, Harold Tygrett, Charles Tygrett, John Tygrett, Paul Tygrett, Raymond Tygrett and Reginald Tygrett; and two sisters, Lucille Tygrett Lafferty and Vivian Tygrett White.

Survivors include her two brothers and their wives, Kenneth and Margie Tygrett of Fayetteville, and Tommy and Jean Tygrett of Ripley; a sister and her husband, Betty Sue and Robert Mulligan of Fayetteville; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. David A. Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Family will be receiving friends one hour before service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Margaret White’s memory to the Fayetteville United Methodist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 87, Fayetteville, WV 25840.

Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, is in charge of arrangements.

Dolly Katheryn Wilcox

Dolly Katheryn Wilcox, 100, of Daniels, formerly living in Amigo and Crab Orchard, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006.

Born April 30, 1905, in Ash County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late David Martin and Elmina Martin.

Mrs. Wilcox was a homemaker. Dolly was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church.

She was the last surviving member of the immediate family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Wilcox; a son, Charles C. Wilcox Jr.; a son-in-law, Everett Ray Gentry; grandsons, Alan Ray Gentry and Ronald Paul Gentry; great-grandson, Eric Charles Almond; six sisters, Hattie Martin, Bessie Martin, Maggie Wallace, Elizabeth Stout, Callie Hayworth and Mae Wallace; and five brothers, Charlie Martin, Ray Martin, William Martin, Luther Martin, and Fred Martin.

Survivors include two daughters, Arna Mae Almond and son-in-law, L.G. “Al” Almond, of Daniels, and Emma Jean Gentry of Daniels; three grandsons, Dan Almond and wife, Peggy, Eddie Almond and wife, Donna, and Dale Gentry and wife, Donna; four great-granddaughters, Kimberly Stearns, Heather Goldberg and husband, Brad, Rachel Almond and Kelcey Gentry; seven great-grandsons, Danny Almond Jr., Charles E. “Chuck” Almond II, Bryant Gentry, Gregory Gentry, Kevin Gentry, Steven Gentry and Jeffrey Gentry; a great-great-grandson, Matthew Almond Goldberg; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She had a lovely smile that would touch your heart and light the world. Special thanks to the staff of Hospice and Heartland of Beckley.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastors Ken Overdorf, Rick Absher and Sheldon Cosma officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O. Box 147, Beckley, WV 25802, or Oak Grove Christian Church, 273 Oak Grove Road, Beckley, WV 25801.

Frances Louise Hicks Winfree

SPEEDWAY — Frances Louise Hicks Winfree, 75, of Horton Lane, Speedway, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at her home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Winfree, the daughter of the late L.C. and Ocie Walker Hicks, was born in Layland on July 9, 1930. She was the wife of the late Olen E. Winfree, Sr.

She is survived by a son, Olen E. Butcher-Winfree and wife, Joy, of Clarksburg; a daughter, Cynthia Winfree of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Lindsey Jones and wife, Jamie, of Athens, Joshua Winfree of Bluefield, and Leah and Aaron Butcher-Winfree of Clarksburg; two sisters, Freda Ramey of Scott Depot and Carol Benjamin of Reston, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Hicks and Lindsey Hicks.

Mrs. Winfree was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and Concord College, and had taught school in Mercer County. She had worked with her husband in a surveying business. She was a member of Painters Chapel United Methodist Church, Speedway, and a member of the Mercer County Extension Homemakers.

At 11 a.m. Friday, we will celebrate the life of Mrs. Frances Winfree from Painters Chapel United Methodist Church, Speedway, with Pastors K. Almond and Tommy Mounts officiating. Following a dinner at the church for the family, graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. at Bibb cemetery, Gatewood.

Friends may visit with the family 6 to 8 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road, Princeton.

WESTLAKE, Ohio — Freddie Coleman, 78, formerly of Beckley, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at St. John Westshore Hospital, Westlake, following a long illness.

‘John John’ Coombs

LAUREL CREEK — John Douglas “John John” Coombs, 25, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at home following a long illness.

Born Dec. 31, 1980, at Gainesville, Fla., he was the son of Sharon Ellison of Laurel Creek.

He was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Fayetteville High School and was an avid Dale Earnhart fan and enjoyed all types of auto racing.

Survivors include his parents, Joseph and Sharon Ellison of Laurel Creek; two brothers, Terry Andrews and his wife, Melodie, of Cunard and Joshua Andrews and his wife, Roxanna, of Fayetteville; grandmother, Dora Cole of Oak Hill; grandfather, Doyle and Ellen Ellison of Laurel Creek; an uncle, John Miller of Laurel Creek; and a cousin, Jonathan Miller of Laurel Creek.

Service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Ralph Shupe officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Margie A. Dalton

Margie A. Richardson Dalton, 84, of Beaver, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at her home following a long illness.

Born May 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alex Loar and Clara Keaton Loar Murdock and stepfather, George Murdock.

Mrs. Dalton was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Blue Jay and a proud member of the church’s prayer chain.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Richardson; her second husband, William Dalton; brothers, Charles H. Loar, James P. Loar, George A. Murdock, Quincy “Billy” Murdock and Jack Murdock.

Survivors include a son, Gary W. Richardson and wife, Darlene, of Pennsville, N.J.; stepdaughter, Rosemary Cummings and husband, John, of Rural Retreat, Va.; grandchildren, Kelly Richardson of New Jersey and Vicki Walton and husband, Mike, of Maryland; great-grandchildren, Joshua Richardson of New Jersey, Tiffany Headley of New Jersey and Delaney and Darby Walton of Maryland; sisters, Mildred Ransom and husband, Frank, of Daniels, and Mary E. Meador of Blue Jay; and a brother, Joseph Murdock and wife, Bertha, of Fayetteville.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Betty Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Prasch, Marvin Murdock, Mike Meador, Frank Ransom, Frank Ransom Jr. and Joshua Richardson.

Brianna Nicole Hutchinson

CRAIGSVILLE — Brianna Nicole Hutchinson, 19, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006.

Memorial visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood. There will be a second memorial visitation 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Southern Baptist Fellowship Church, Elizabeth.

Willard M. Johnson

Willard M. Johnson, 77, of Piney View, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at home following a sudden illness.

Born March 8, 1928, at Stanaford, he was a son of the late Jesse Johnson and Bessie Wardensky Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was retired from C&P Telephone Co. as a telephone technician. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and past president of Communications Workers of America. He was a member of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Johnson.

Survivors include daughter, Susan Ball and husband, Ken, of St. Clairsville, Ohio; brothers, Walter Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., and James Johnson of Barberton, Ohio; sisters, Nellie Johnson of Beckley and Wanda Simpkins of Cranberry; grandchildren, Stephanie and Scott Ball; great-grandchildren, Katelynne and McKenzie Ball; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. George Wood and Philip Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
