George M. Moore Sr.

George M. Moore Sr., 82, of Red Lion, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 10:58 a.m., at York Hospital in York, Pa.

He was born Mar. 18, 1920, at Weston, a son of the late Ernest and Lorena (Linger) Moore.

His wife, Theresa V. (Balcer) Moore, survives.

Also surviving are six children, Veronica Martin of Bel Air, Md., George M. Moore Jr. of White Hall, Md., Terry Tobias of Upper Falls, Md., Joyce E. Edie of Norrisville, Md., Ronald A. Moore of Bel Air, Md., and Jamie Markowitz of Woodbine, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Moore and his wife owned and operated grocery stores in Pylesville, Md., and Perryman, Md., for 25 years until his retirement in 1975. He had his private pilot license and flew his private plane in the Maryland and Pennsylvania areas from 1961-1985.
A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc. in Stewartstown, Pa., with Rev. Melissa A. McDade officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Mr. Moore's name may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Central Pa. Chapter, 800 Corporate Circle Suite 100, Harrisburg, Pa. 17110.

Francis "Bud" Riley

Francis E. "Bud" Riley, 83, of Bridgeport, died at noon on Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, following a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 13, 1919, at Ellamore, a son of the late James and Catherine (King) Riley.

His wife, the former Erma Wenzel, whom he married Aug. 18, 1949, died Jan. 3, 2000.

Surviving are one son, Thomas E. Riley of Clarksburg; one sister, Margaret Kish of California; four grandchildren, Gretchen Riley Cremann of Wardensville, Jason Riley of Snowshoe, Kyle Seitz of Cary, N.C., and Erin Seitz of Hickory, N.C.; three stepgrandchildren, Nicole Molnar of Clarksburg, Ben Molnar of Key West, Fla., and Leslie Flaherty of Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; one great-grandchild, Noah Molnar of Clarksburg.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Riley Goodgame; three sisters and five brothers.

Mr. Riley retired from the Operating Engineers in Clarksburg with several years of service; prior to that, he was in the coal business for many years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Weston, with Rev. Jeremiah McSweeney as celebrant. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Boyle Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Carol Sue Vineyard

Carol Sue Vineyard, 63, of 62 Kimberly Lane in Jane Lew, died at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at West Virginia University Hospital/Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, following an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Roy Lee and Virginia Marie (Goldsmith) Vineyard Jeffries.

Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Aubrey Smith of Weston; two nephews, Gregory Smith of Glenville and Mark Smith of Front Royal, Va.; one niece, Mrs. Michael (Tina) Norman of Jane Lew; seven great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Ann Vineyard.

Miss Vineyard was formerly employed in the Finishing Department of the Colonial Glass Factory and, later, the Louie Glass Factory, with several years of service. She retired with 12 years' service from William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Boyle Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Machpelah cemetery.

Joseph W. Wagoner

Joseph W. Wagoner, 85, of Weston, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston.

He was born Nov. 9, 1917, a son of the late O.B. and Mary B. Wagoner.

His wife of 60 years, Lucille (Greene) Wagoner, survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mary Ann Ramsey of Jane Lew; two sons, Joseph W. Wagoner and his wife Mary Martha of Weston and Thomas L. Wagoner and his wife Jane of Scott Depot; five grandchildren, William T. Ramsey, Ann Chrisman and her husband Eric, Kerrie L. Wagoner, Brian J. Wagoner and his wife Amy, and Kaitlyn Wagoner; one great-granddaughter, Cassandra M. Chrisman; one brother, Kemper Wagoner; three sisters, Lala I. McWhorter, Clarice M. Stott, and M. Maxine Wagoner; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Walter Wagoner.

Mr. Wagoner was a graduate of Lost Creek High School. He retired from Transmission Services of Consolidated Gas Supply Corporation with 37 years of service. He served as Chief Boatswain Mate in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, American Legion Post 4, and VFW Post 573.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Jeremiah McSweeney as celebrant. Interment followed in the Machpelah cemetery. Boyle Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Nancy R. Ware

Nancy R. Ware, 67, of Ravenna Township, Ohio, formerly of Weston, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Altercare of Ravenna in Ravenna, Ohio.

She was born Feb. 13, 1935, at Lorain, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ray Bueche and the late Ruth Thomas.

Surviving are three daughters, Donna Bower of Warren, Ohio, Barbara Stutler of Rootstown, Ohio, and Kimberly Marshall of Ravenna, Ohio; three sons, Tom Ware and Joe Ware, both of West Virginia, and John Ware of Virginia; one brother, Charlie Gerth of Amherst, Ohio; 12 grandchildren.

Ms. Ware had lived at Ravenna, Ohio, for the past 25 years. She was a nurse's aide and was retired from PCNH.
A chapel service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Maple Grove cemetery in Ravenna, Ohio, with Rev. Denver Lovejoy officiating. Shorts Funeral Home Inc. of Ravenna, Ohio, was in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the family, c/o Kimberly Marshall, 527 N. Walnut Street, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.

Sibyl V. Williams

Sibyl V. Williams, 84, a resident of St. Barbaras Nursing Home in Monongah, formerly of Bridgeport, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, following an extended illness.

She was born Jul. 13, 1918, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late J. Newton and Mary Molissa (Keener) Peninegar.

Her husband, Robert C. Williams, whom she married Jun. 26, 1946, preceded her in death in December 1994.

Surviving are one daughter, Melissa Williams of Kingmont; two sons, Stephen Williams of Laurel, Md., and Richard Williams of Harrisonburg, Va.; two sisters, Laurabelle Bennett and Eloise Cunningham, both of Bridgeport.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Scott and Edward Peninegar; and four sisters, Mabel Smith, Ethel Peninegar, Myrtle Yearer, and Mayme Freeman.

Mrs. Williams was owner and operator of Sibyl's Beauty Shop in Grafton for more than 25 years. She attended the Clarksburg Beauty Academy and was a nurse's aide at Grafton City Hospital.
A funeral service will be held today, Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m., at Floyd Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark James officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic cemetery.

Lewis Richard Haymond

Lewis Richard Haymond, 66, of Berlin Rd. in Weston, died at 7:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Taylor County, a son of the late Lewis Ellis and Wilma (Keller) Haymond.

His wife, Dottie L. Pritt Haymond, whom he married Dec. 14, 1983, survives.

Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Ellis and Linda Haymond of Bunker Hill and Philip David and Mary Haymond of Fairmont; three stepdaughters, Wavalene Lester of Lightburn, Linda Hicks and her husband Scott of Weston, and Elizabeth Fultineer and her husband John of Buckhannon; 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 12 stepgrandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild; one foster sister, Patty Gonzalez and her husband Donald of Clarksburg.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Ann Haymond.

Mr. Haymond managed the Grafton newspaper for 20 years. He was a union representative with the West Virginia State Employees Association; a loan officer with Lewis County Savings & Loan of Weston; and a clerk for Kane's Hardware in Weston. He attended Berlin United Methodist Church.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m., at Floyd Funeral Home, with Rev. Roger McKee officiating. Interment followed in the Weston Masonic cemetery.
Jesse Boyd James

Jesse Boyd James, 85, of 392 Broad St., Weston, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, following an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Braxton County, a son of the late Perry Stanley and Melvina (Long) James.

His wife, Mabel Irene (Sams) James, whom he married Oct. 9, 1944, preceded him in death Nov. 28, 1992.

Surviving are three sons, Stanley James, Melvin James, and Ernest James, all of Weston; one daughter, Sandra Keith of Weston; two sisters, Gertrude McClary of Collingswood, N.J., and Dell James of Pittsgrove, N.J.; four grandsons, six granddaughters, five great-grandsons, and three great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Perry Steven James; two brothers, Leman and Cleman James; and one sister, Luna Autha Phillips.

Mr. James was a social worker for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources with 35 years of service. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, belonging to Weston Lodge 10 AF&AM. He was also a member of Bigelow Chapter 4, RAM; St. John's Commandery #8, K.T.; Orlando Shrine Temple of Orlando, Fla.; and the Baha Camel Herders.

A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Floyd Funeral Home, with Rev. Roger Brown officiating. Interment followed in the Peterson cemetery.

John P. "Johnny" Jones

John Paul "Johnny" Jones, 36, a resident of the Burnt House community in Ritchie County, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Rt. 47, Burnt House, following a jobsite timbering accident.

He was born Mar. 25, 1966, a son of Linda White Cottrill of Stouts Mills and Edgell J. Jones of Auburn in Ritchie County.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his stepfather, Haymond Cottrill of Stouts Mills; his father's companion, Etta Spencer of Auburn; two sons, Joshua Lee and Andrew Paul Jones of Buckhannon; his ex-wife, Beverly Richards Jones of Buckhannon; one brother, James Jones of Tunnelton; three half brothers, Zavada, Cazjun and Suneak Spencer of Auburn; one stepbrother, David Cottrill of Little Birch; two stepsisters, Rose Craig of Linn and Rita Brown of Glenville.

He was preceded in death by one stepbrother, Lynn Cottrill; and one stepsister, Cheryl Cottrill Greenlief Miner.

Mr. Jones was a truck driver and a timberman. He was a Baptist and a former member of the National Guard of Gassaway.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Ellyson Mortuary Inc. in Glenville, with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial followed in the Cottrill Family & Friends cemetery on Sliding Run at Stouts Mills.

Lena Myrl King

Lena Myrl King, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Colleen Jones, in Jefferson, Ohio.

She was born June 24, 1915, at McCann's Run, a daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Jessie May (Barb) Allman.

Her husband, Ross Lauden King, whom she married Sept. 23, 1933, preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1993.

Surviving are two sons, Ross L. King and Delbert King, both of Buckhannon; four daughters, Kathleen Weaver of Weston, Marleen Brandon of New Kensington, Pa., Colleen Jones of Jefferson, Ohio, and Barbara McVicer of Quakertown, Pa.; one brother, Basil Allman of Jane Lew; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Harvey Allman, Peter Elza Allman, Roscoe Bill Allman, Laco "Cody" Allman, Claude Allman, Rupert Allman, and Bernard Allman; and one sister, Pearl McKinney.

Mrs. King was a homemaker, a Methodist, and a member of the Senior Citizens.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m., at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon, with Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Lewis County.
