William Sprouse

William Gerald Sprouse, 65, of Weston, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 in Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown following an extended illness.

He was born in Weston November 29, 1939, son of the late William Edward Sprouse and Marie (Heater) Sprouse. On December 31, 1964, he married Ernestine (Groggs) Sprouse, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters Vicki Sprouse and Mary Ellen Henline, both of Weston; two sons, William Eugene Sprouse and Gary Lee Sprouse, both of Weston; thirteen grandchildren; one brother, Roger Sprouse of Weston; and one nephew, Sean Sprouse of Tenn.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Naoma Heath and one infant brother.

Mr. Sprouse was a retired aide with the Weston State Hospital, was a Weston City Police officer, and a Lewis County Deputy Sheriff. He was also a volunteer with the Weston Volunteer Fire Department and Lewis County Emergency Squad.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 1 from the Floyd Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Phil Bosh officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Weston.

Carl D. Gardner

Carl D. "Denny" Gardner, 84, of Jane Lew died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 at his home following a sudden illness.

He was born Jan. 26, 1920 at Cowen, a son of the late Alden and Ada Kessler Gardner.

On April 9, 1948 he married Betty Jo Snyder Gardner, who survives.

He is also survived by one son, William D. "Bill" Gardner and wife Dorothy of Jane Lew; two daughters, Molly Burkhammer and husband Bill of Weston and Donna Gaines and husband Delbert of French Creek; one sister, Kathleen Straw of Elkins; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, one step-granddaughter and two brothers.

Mr. Gardner served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from the State Road with 36 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston.

The body was cremated. Memorial service will be at a later date at the First Baptist Church in Weston.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated.

Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Reva G. Garvin

Reva Geraldine Garvin, 84, of Broad Run Rd. died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.

She was born Jan. 6, 1920 in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Albert Carl and Emma Grace Hitt Ramsburg.

On June 26, 1947, she married George B. Garvin, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, David Garvin and wife Vicky of Allegan, Mich.; one daughter, Lisa Gum and husband Robert of Jane Lew; one brother, Rensel G. Ramsburg of Jane Lew; one sister, Zola Sims of Weston; one granddaughter, Katie Gum of Jane Lew; four grandsons, Matthew, Shawn and Daniel Garvin of Allegan and Joseph Gum of Jane Lew; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Erma Caldwell.

Mrs. Garvin was a charter member of Jane Lew American Legion Auxiliary No. 166, a 1937 graduate of Jane Lew High School and was a member of the Broad Run Baptist Church for 74 years, where she served as deaconess. She was loving and was dedicated to her family and friends.

Service was Monday at Morris Funeral Home, Jane Lew with Rev. William Coffindaffer and Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Burial was in Broad Run cemetery.

Edward C. Hull

Edward C. "Junior" Hull, 87, of Camden died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born July 20, 1917 in Camden, a son of the late Clyde Hull and Lura Hall Hull.

On Feb. 9, 1952, he married the former Urma Sprouse, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kathryn Clevenger and husband Kenneth "Dick" of Camden and Linda Anderson of Harlingen, Texas; five grandchildren, Lisa Poling, Mike Hull, Kevin Anderson, and Kelly and Kyle Clevenger; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Jaunita Imboden and Eva Ford, both of Weston, Virginia Matheny of Greensburg, Pa., and Mary Mazzei of Wellsburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry Hull; one infant daughter; and two brothers, Harold and Virgil Hull.

Mr. Hull worked as a lineman service man for Monongahela Power Company for 35 years. He was a loving father, husband and grandfather and enjoyed farming, gardening and hunting. He was a member of Freemansburg United Methodist Church.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Martin Wine officiating. Interment will be at Freemansburg United Methodist Church cemetery.

Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

James A. Lesher

James A. Lesher, 17, of Gulfport, Miss., formerly of Jane Lew, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 in Biloxi, Miss.

He had been a coast resident for the past 18 months and was a senior at Gulfport High School. He was in the Air Force ROTC where he held the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force National Guard Leadership School.

He is survived by his mother, Sonnie Looney of Gulfport; father, Leonard A. Lesher of Elkview; sister, Crystal D. Lesher of Charleston; maternal grandparents, James Dixie and Wilma Wine of Weston; paternal grandparents, Carol Evans of West Virginia and Leonard P. Lesher of Ohio; three aunts and one uncle.

The body was cremated.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at Peterson cemetery with Chad Belt officiating.

William M. Neal Jr.

William Mark "Bill" Neal Jr., 68, of Buckhannon died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at his home following a sudden illness.

Born March 17, 1936 in Leslie, Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late William Mark Neal Sr. and Helen Webb Neal.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vera Stewart Neal; two sons, Dr. William M. Neal III and wife Lisa Crowder Neal of Buckhannon and Dr. Jeffrey Stewart Neal and wife Janet Clark Neal of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren, Natalie Elizabeth Neal of Buckhannon, Matthew Stewart Neal, Alexandra Caitlin Neal and Jennifer Ashley Neal, all of Lexington.

Mr. Neal was a longtime member of Buckhannon First Baptist Church, where he had served as moderator and trustee in past years. He was also a member of Summersville Lodge No. 76, Masonic Lodge.

A graduate of West Virginia University's School of Pharmacy, he was formerly employed at Miller's Pharmacy in Buckhannon from 1957 to 1965, then was co-owner of Cain's Drug Store in Weston for the next 31 years. He was part-time pharmacist for Thompson's Pharmacy in Buckhannon for the past eight years.

Service was Saturday at Poling St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon with Pastor Richard McGuire and Dr. Daniel Unger officiating. Interment was in Heavner cemetery Mausoleum, Buckhannon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 42 Hart Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201.

Pearl L. Posey

Pearl Lucille Posey, 78, of Clarksburg died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 at United Hospital Center following a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 14, 1926 in Crawford, a daughter of the late Eddie L. and Mary L. Gay Cosner.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Underwood and husband Brad of Clarksburg; two brothers, Woodrow I. Cosner of Weston and Franklin D. Cosner and wife Marlene of Clarksburg; one grandson, Seth Michael Underwood; and several nephews and nieces.

Her husband, John Alfred Posey, preceded her in death Nov. 7, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Marshall Cosner.

Mrs. Posey was a member of the Duff Street United Methodist Church, Lucinda Rose Auxiliary of the Meuse-Argonne Post No. 573, VFW, and had been employed for over 24 years as a nurse's aide at United Hospital Center.

Service was Wednesday at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, Clarksburg with Rev. Amy Shanholtzer officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Lottie L. Snyder

Lottie Louise "Tiny" Snyder, 76, of Churchville died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at the home of her daughter following an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 12, 1927 in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Jacob Straley and Zeffie Keister Straley.

On Oct. 3, 1949, she married Oris B. "Peck" Snyder, who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1968.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Arbogast of Roanoke, Va., Korrene Woofter of Churchville and Hazel Gay Whitlock of Romney; two sons, Fred Snyder of Churchville and Richard Snyder of Walkersville; three sisters, Dolly Bush of Barberton, Ohio, Jo Ann Ellis of Miami, Fla., and Edna Lamb of Clarksburg; 10 grandchildren, Mike, Greg and Sara Woofter, Stacy Allen, Alison and Carrie Arbogast, Marshall and Ben Snyder, and Brent and Ryan Combs; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker and member of Churchville United Methodist Church.

Service was Monday at Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Steve White and Rev. Martin Wine officiating. Interment was in Snyder cemetery, Churchville.
