William R. Fox
William R. "Bill" Fox, 81, of 1892 U.S. Highway 19 North, Jane Lew died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2005 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness.
He was born December 7, 1923 in Roanoke a son of the late Ovie Cecil and Mary Alice McCray Fox.
On April 25, 1944 he married the former Ruth Arizona Posey who died September 12, 1999.
Surviving are four daughters Erania C. Fox of Weston, Karen Wells of Mogadore, OH, Janet Smith of Avon, OH, and Donna Lee Fox of Jane Lew.
Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Two brothers Charles Fox and wife Bobbi of Panama City, FL and Andy Fox and wife Mary Jane of Jane Lew.
One sister Mrs. Bud (Mary Belle) Cunningham of Barberton, OH.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Fox was owner and operator of Bills Beauty Salon in Weston for over 35 years.
He was a Methodist by faith and veteran of the U.S. Army 1943 to 1945 and the U.S. Air Force 1947 to 1965.
He was a member of the Nemesis Shrine Temple and Weston Lodge # 10 A.F. & A.M.
Friends were received Monday at the Boyle Funeral Home.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday from the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend William JB Gum officiating.
Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Horner United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
Weston Lodge # 10 A.F. & A.M. was in charge of graveside rites.

Wanda J. Hawkins
Wanda J. Hawkins, 74, of 4966 U.S. Highway 19 North, Jane Lew died at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born May 1, 1931 at Old Field Fork, Weston a daughter of the late Walter and Agnes Neal Woodson.
On September 16, 1954 she married William Lawrence Hawkins Sr. who died July 23, 2003.
Surviving are one daughter Diane Ocheltree of Jane Lew.
One son William L. Hawkins Jr. of Jane Lew
Three grandchildren Anna Turner, Steven Hawkins and Deena Ocheltree and five great grandchildren.
Sisters: Nina Churchwell of TN, Carol Holland of DE, and Clarice Curry of MD.
Brothers: Robert "Terry" Woodson of TN, Walter "Sam", Raymond "Jake" and Joe Woodson all of MD, William and John Woodson both of Jane Lew.
Mrs. Hawkins was Pentecostal by faith and a homemaker.
Friends may call at the Floyd Funeral Home, Main Ave., Weston, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Clyde Gidley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Waldeck cemetery.

Lewis McClain Jr.
Lewis "Pee Wee" McClain Jr., 54, of Dusk Camp, departed this life at 12:33 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005 at his residence.
Born February 20, 1951 in Braxton County son of the late Louis Wesley and Rosalie Edith Queen McClain.
Mr. McClain was a Carpenter for local 476, Army Veteran, a Deacon at Sand Fork Baptist Church and a member of the Sand Fork Choir. Mr. McClain was a member of the Captain Crew Quartet.
Mr. McClain was united in marriage to Kay Keith McClain of April 16, 1976 who survives at their Dusk Camp home.
Surviving are two daughters Lurenda Allison and Lewesla Linden both of Dusk Camp. Five grandchildren: Lasa Bree Mencer, Preston McClain Allison, Gunner Douglas Allison, Grasen William Allison, and Montaiginey Layton Linden all of Dusk Camp.
Three brothers and four sisters also survive: Charles Raymond McClain of New Castle, DE, Russell McClain of Burnsville, Richard McClain of Walkersville, Ruth Bush Criss of Rockcave, Maxine Johnson of Parkersburg, Vinitia Ball of Deepwater, and Edna Halstead of FL.
Mr. McClain was preceded in death by one brother, Robert McClain.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the Sand Fork Baptist Church in Sand Fork with the Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Fork cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at the Sand Fork Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Sand Fork Baptist Church.

Robert Edwin McNemar
Robert Edwin McNemar, 76, died Saturday, August 20, 2005.
Born April 15, 1929 in Lewis County to the late Franklin C. and Georgia Lloyd McNemar.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, David McNemar.
Survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Keener McNemar; five children, Barbara (Paul) Cummings, Rebecca (John) Connelly, Timothy (Mary) McNemar, James (Beverly) McNemar, and Thomas (Cindy) McNemar; one sister, Mary Joann Richards; and eight grandchildren.
After 31 years with the Columbus Public Schools, serving as Director of Science and Mathematics, and other administrative appointments, Robert continued to educate at the Ohio State University where he had previously received his PhD.
Robert was a veteran of the Korean War, a Colonel in the Army Reserves - serving from 1953-1989 and in 1977 was a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA.
He also provided leadership for many professional organizations.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27,2005 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Saint Edward Episcopal Church, 214 Fairway Boulevard, Columbus, OH 43213, (614) 856-1689 with Father Rick McCracken-Bennett officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Ohio Parkinson Society, 1380 Dublin Road, PO Box 16126, Columbus, OH 43216, (614) 486-1901. Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 East State Street is handling arrangements.

George Calvin Bennett
George Calvin Bennett, 80, of 113 Sprigg Steet, Weston, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born in Lewis County on January 15, 1925; son of the late Ell Bennett and Madge (Flesher) Bennett.
On September 23, 1949, Mr. Bennett was married to Mary Lee (Myers) Bennett, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters: Brenda Carothers and husband Gary of Walker, and Ruth Lowther of Weston; one sister: Mildred Cunningham of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Jodi Bean Jones, Richard N. Bean, Eric Nathan Carothers, Krista (Carothers) Ranson and Jason Carothers; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by one daughter: Marcie Bennett, two grandsons: Ron Bean and Gary Michael Carothers, one brother: Archie Elmer Bennett, and one sister: Dolly Bush.
Mr. Bennett was retired from the Louis A. Johnson Veteran Administration Medical Center of Clarksburg in 1983. He was a self-employed painter. He was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church. Mr. Bennett was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.
Friends and family were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, 730 North Main Avenue, Weston, WV on Sunday, September 4, 2005. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 5, 2005 at 1 p.m. from St. Matthews United Methodist Church with Rev. Rupert Evans officiating. Interment followed in the Machpelah cemetery of Weston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 120 East Third Street, Weston, WV 26452.
At the cemetery, military honors were conducted by the American Legion Post 166, Chapter 697 MOPH, Post 1976 VFW and American Legion Post #4.

Renice J. Francis
Renice Jeanette Whipkey Francis, 60, of Elizabeth, WV, formerly of Five Forks, died at her residence on Sunday, August 28.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Brady and Edith Whipkey.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Rev. Harold B. Francis of Elizabeth; one daughter, Melissa D. Francis of Elizabeth; one son, Michael V. Francis and his wife Angie of Summersville; three granddaughters, Megan, Morgan, and Madilyn Francis of Summersville; three sisters Hazel Louise Swisher of Parkersburg, Grace Holcomb of Glouster, OH, and Carolyn McEwen of Toronto, OH; three brothers, Timothy Whipkey of Five Forks, Denzil Whipkey of Mt. Zion, and Roger Whipkey of Mt. Zion; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Francis was proceeded in death by one sister, Pauline Swisher of Windsor, NC; and two brothers, Mervin and Denzil Whipkey of Five Forks.
She was a preacher's wife and a member of Esther Circle, Mary Elizabeth Circle, and the United Methodist Women at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church in Elizabeth with the Rev. Carroll McCauley and Rev. Greg Auxier officiating. Burial followed at the Nobe cemetery.
Friends were received on Friday, September 2 at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville.

James Burr Heater
James Burr Heater, died Sunday, August 20, 2005 at a retirement home in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Heater was born in 1920 the son of the late Captain Clyde Heater.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lin Heater; two grandsons, Nathan and Brian; his sister-in-law Elisabeth Susan (Betty) Bland; and brother-in-law George L. Bland, Jr.; his sister-in-law Aletha May (Judy) Loomis Heater of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Eleanor Steska Heater; two sons, Michael and Jack; and his brother, Colonel George W. Heater.
Mr. Heater was a Lewis County High School and Glenville State College graduate. He also enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. His professional career following his enlistment was divided between the corporations McDonnel-Douglas and Emerson.
Lieutenant Colonel James Burr Heater was buried in a downpour of rain with full Military Honors at the J.B. National cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Walter James Vankirk
Walter James Vankirk, 70, of 1662 Highway 33 West, Weston, Pricetown Community died at 11:45 a.m. on September 5, 2005 as a result of a heart attack.
He was born January 23, 1935 in Gilmer County a son of the late Thomas and Merle Ball Vankirk.
On August 26, 1954 he married Eliza Bell Goldsmith who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Darla Williams and two grandchildren Caleb and Issac all of Ireland; one sister: Susie Cawthon of Horner; one brother: Ernie and wife Joy Vankirk of Weston.
He was preceded in death by two daughters: Sharon Kay and Vicki Ann Vankirk; one brother: Glenn; two half-brothers: Robert and Haven; and a half-sister Lula Young.
Mr. Vankirk was retired from Union Drilling and previously had worked for S.W. Jack Drilling and WV Glass Specialty Co.
After retirement, Walter continued to do odd jobs for many of his friends and family.
He was Methodist by faith.
Friends may call at the Boyle Funeral Home, Main Avenue, Weston, Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Martin Wine officiating.
Interment will follow in the Peterson cemetery.
