Joyce Ann Reynolds, 49, of Fraziers Bottom, W.Va. went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 22, 2005, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Guyan Creek Church, Glenwood., W.Va. Born June 5, 1955, in Mason County, West Virginia, Joyce was the youngest daughter of the late Richard and Vena Holley Meadows. She was a former employee of Leadmon's Meats of Hurricane and Rolfe's Meats of Ona. She attended Guyan Creek Church since 1987. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Pastor Don Reynolds; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Frankie Hudnall; three grandchildren, Preston, Corey and Baylee; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Richard Jr. and Barbara, Larry and Kay, Darrell and Sarah, Barry and, Debbie, all of Milton, Garry and Mary of Glenwood and very special brother, Michael of Apple Grove; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ronnie Robertson and Eloise and Wayne Doss, both of Ashton, W.Va.; Mother-in-law, Deloris Reynolds of Guyandotte and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of special friends and loved ones. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank Dr. Amin, Jeannie Kim and the Oncology staff at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Paul Clagg Sr

Paul Clagg Sr., 80 of Milton, WV, passed away April 20, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton by Pastor Winford Curry. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born August 28, 1926, in Milton, a son of the Jate J.E and Vernice Jordan Clagg. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Cecil and one sister, Hazel Bates. He was a retired school bus driver for Cabell County with 32-1/2 years service and worked for 25 years in construction. He is survived by his wife, Okal; two sons, Paul Clagg Jr. and his wife Frances, Jimmy Clagg and his wife Charlotte, and daughter Ladonna Neal and her husband Terry, all residing in Milton; sister Mabel Edwards; brothers Roy and Darrell Clagg; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Fern Meadows, Jimmie Jenkins, Donald Hern, Jeff Foster, Richard Fellure and Roger Fellure.

Jack Lee Collins

Jack Lee Collins, 48, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at his sister's home in Ona. Graveside services were held Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington, by Pastor Paul Meadows. He was born on February 20, 1957, in Huntington a son of the late Carroll and Beulah Burks Collins. He worked at A&R Transport. He was a member of Beulah Ann Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Collins; one stepson, Jason “Jake” Burdette. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Elza Collins; one son, Jack Jason Collins of Louisville, Ky.; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol Jean “Sis” and Garry Woody of Ona; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Ruth and Joe Hanks; three nieces, two nephews, and five great-nieces. Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. “I will love and miss you forever.” - Vickie

Betty R. Gillespie

Betty R. Gillespie, 75, of Huntington, WV, lost her brave battle with cancer and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 19, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the Wallace Furneral Home & Chapel, by Rev. Michael Rowe. Burial was in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born February 24, 1930, in Huntington a daughter of the late Lester and Pauline Burrows Anderson. She was a member of Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, C.E Gillespie; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mike Hammock of Huntington: one sister, Lois McDaniel of Barboursville; one grandson, Matthew Arthur; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Hospice for all their love and support.

Andrew Alan “Andy” Hutchinson

Andrew Alan “Andy” Hutchinson, 16, of Ona, W.Va., died April 18, 2005. He was born April 21, 1988, in Huntington, W.Va. The son of Dianna Adkins of Ona and William Hutchinson of Milton, W.Va., and father figure Kelly Oldaker of Ona. He was a student at Cabell Midland High School and an avid outdoorsman who lived life to the fullest and will be sadly missed. He is survived by one sister, Amanda Hutchinson; two brothers, William Hutchinson Jr. and Nicholas Oldaker; one niece, Julie Hutchinson; close family members, Keith Rappold and Kimberly Dean; grandmothers, Leona Adkins of Ona; Mary Crawford, of Milton, and Garnett Oldaker of Lesage, W.Va.; a special uncle, Bud Adkins. Lots more uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends. Pallbearers were Andy's close friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 22, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Joe Hutchinson and the Rev. Gary Wilson. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

Opal Lester Pinson

Opal Lester Pinson, 68, of Lesage, wife of Orville L. Pinson, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 21, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Minister Emual Adkins. Burial in Mays Cemetery, East Lynn. She was born in East Lynn, W.Va., a daughter of the late Emual Lester and Avis Mays Lester. She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Lee Pinson; brother, Edgar Lester; and grandson, Christopher James Pinson. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Amy Pinson of Ona, W.Va., and Wayne and Marla Pinson of Lavalette, W.Va.; three sisters and brother-in-law, Tressie Brammer of Cole Grove, Ohio, Bonnie Clay of East Lynn, W.Va. and Ruth and Paul Swoveland of Huntsville, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Pulmonary Unit, MICU and Dr. Ron Brownfield.

Della L. Stevens

Della L. Stevens, 91, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005, in Teays Valley Center, Hurricane, W.Va. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Doug Spurlock officiating. Burial in Union Ridge Cemetery, Glenwood, W.Va. She was born July 24, 1913, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Reuben H. and Martha Legg Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Stevens; son-in-law, William T. Trippett, four brothers, Virgil, Willie, Henry and Glen Jenkins; and one sister, Ella Edmonds. She is survived by one son, William T. Stevens of Huntington; one daughter, Mary Trippett of Lesage; four grandchildren, Gina Massie and her husband Ronnie of Ona, W.Va., Brian Trippett of Lesage, W.Va., Timmy Stevens and his wife, Karen of Huntington and Michelle Roberts and her husband Terry, of Fayetteville, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Kevin Massie, Christopher Massie, Chelsea Stevens, Graham Stevens and Hillary Roberts; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Iva Jenkins of Glenwood and Ida and Vernon Black of Milton.

Glenn D. Snodgrass

Glenn D. Snodgrass, 86, of Milton passed away Monday, April 18, 2005, in Teays Valley Center, Hurricane. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born January 4, 1919, in Huntington, a son of the late Homer Snodgrass and Marie Hall. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 139, Milton. He is survived by his wife Reba F. Snodgrass; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda G. and Paul M. Klodowski of Charleston, S.C., Annette M. and M. David Butler of Goose Creek, S.C., and Carolyn E. and Russell W. Alexander of Milton; five grandchildren, Antonia Craig of Charleston, S.C., Aaron Weatherholt and his wife, Shannon, of College Station, Texas , Melissa Davis and her husband, Trevor, of Kingston, Tenn., Matthew Weatherholt and his wife, Audra, of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Jonathan Yeager of Barboursville; one great-grandson, Eli Gage Davis of Kingston, Tenn.; and one step-grandson, Corey Alexander of Sissonville.

Jimmy Gene Tucker

Jimmy Gene Tucker, 67, of Buffalo died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Putnam General Hospital, following a sudden illness. He was a disabled railroad worker from CONRAIL and was a member of Manilla Chapel, Robertsburg. He was the son of the late Foster and Bertha Tucker and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethyle Higginbotham, Beulah Oldaker and Wilma Higginbotham, and two brothers, Paul and Kenny Tucker. Surviving: son, Jimmy G. Tucker Jr. of Red House; grandchildren, Brittany and Joshua, both of Red House; brothers, Bobby and Otis Tucker, both of Robertsburg, Ed, John and Robert Tucker, all of Grimms Landing, Don and Ron Tucker of Marion, Ohio; sisters, Lola Doss of Shrewsbury, Nancy Jividen and Sherry Knapp, both of Leon, Vickie Mackling of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Paula Lumberson of Florida, Bonnie Potter and Lynn Lumberson, both of Marion, Ohio, and Sandra Lowe of Buffalo.

Service was held Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Sampy Hart officiating. Burial was i Tucker Cemetery, Grimms Landing.

Rebecca Diane Hayes

Rebecca Diane “Becky” Hayes, 43, of Poca died April 11, 2005, at home.

Surviving: husband, William Lee Hayes; children, Heather Hudson of Delaware, Chris Hayes of Big Chimney, Jesse Hayes of Buffalo, Bambi King, Amy Hayes, Andi Hayes, Sammi Hayes, and Abby Hayes, all of Poca; brother, Franklin Runions of Montgomery; grandchildren, Brianna, Skyla and Kendra; a host of other family and friends.

Service was held Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, with Roger Fisher officiating. Burial was in Center Point Cemetery.

Betty Lee Kelley

Betty Lee Witt Kelley, 73, of Eleanor died April 12, 2005, in Putnam General Hospital.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #1523, Nitro, the 15th Street Church of God, and the Putnam County Democratic Women's Federation.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence W. Witt, her father, Hollis Criner, and her mother, Electa Roe.

Surviving: husband, Earl K. “Keith” Kelley; stepmother, Goldie Crouse of Nitro; sons and their wives, Greg and Joyce Witt of Rock Branch, Mike and Debbie Witt of Red House; stepson and wife, Jerry and Joyce Kelley of Midway; sister, Shirley Cope of Ohio; brother, Hollis Clifton Criner of Ohio; half brothers, John Warner of Ohio, Keith Criner of South Carolina an Steve Criner of Nitro; stepbrother, Lance Coleman of Florida; grandchildren, Stacy, Joshua and Tiffany Witt.

Service was held Friday, April 15, 2005, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, with Pastor Nyle Fisher officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House.

Eva P. Midkiff

Eva P. Midkiff, 84, of Hurricane died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in SunBridge Care of Putnam following a long illness.

She was formerly of St. Albans and retired from the City of St. Albans Street and Sanitation Department. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, St. Albans.

Surviving: son, Tom Midkiff II and his wife, Christine, of Hurricane; grandchildren, Tom Midkiff III of Fraziers Bottom, David Midkiff of Floral Hills, Florida, and Mark Midkiff of Rock Hill, South Carolina; eight great-grandchildren.

Service was held Friday, April 15, 2005, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Paul Bresnahan officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.

Pearl E. Cox

Pearl E. Lyons Cox, 87, of Red House died April 14, 2005, in Putnam General Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Red House. She was a member of ABW Ministries, former Sunday school teacher and member of Riverside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Cox, and son, Roger Darrell Cox.

Surviving: children, Patricia White of St. Albans, Joan Casto of Grandview, Nila Stover of Red House, Ramona Cox of Winfield, Richard Cox of Salado, Texas , and Jackie Cox of Biloxi, Mississippi; sisters, Helen Browning and Dorothy Riddle, both of Eleanor, and Sylvia Covert of Midway; brothers, Ernest Lyons of Eleanor and Harvey Lyons of St. Albans; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Service was held Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Riverside Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Hanna and Rev. Larry Covert officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House. Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.

Carl L. Bradford

Carl L. Bradford, 65, of Poca died April 15, 2005, as a result of a fall in Webster County while at an annual ramp feed with his lifelong friends..

He was born in 1937 in Mole Hill, Ritchie County, to Elinor Haymond Bradford and the late Jennings Collins Bradford. He was raised in Morgantown but was a long-time resident of Poca. He was the retired director of the Office of Emergency Services for the State of West Virginia.

In 1983, he was a founding trustee of the National Youth Science Camp, which has continued successfully since its inception. He remained a member of the Youth Science Camp throughout his life. Additionally, he coached several local youth sports teams and loved the outdoors, especially West Virginia parks and scenery.

Surviving in addition to his mother: his wife of 34 years, Judy Bradford; daughter, Kirsten Bradford-Sharp and husband, James; sons, Joshua Bradford and wife, Tabitha Brewer Bradford, and Jeremy Bradford; sisters, Karen Stipes and husband, Jay, of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Janeen Bradford of Morgantown; ; brothers, Randy Bradford and wife, Demaris, of Hurricane, Larry Bradford and wife, Rita, of Woodstock, Virginia; brother-in-law, Don Vejvoda of Delray Beach, Florida; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Service was held Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Cross Lanes United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Jay Stipes officiating. Interment was at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens. Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be sent to the National Youth Science Foundation, PO Box 1065, Charleston WV 25324, in honor of Carl.

Christina Lynn Walker

Christina Lynn Walker, 38, of Scott Depot died April 15, 2005.

Born July 28, 1966 in South Charleston, she was a daughter of Tom Oxley of Poca and Jeanette Oxley of Hurricane.

She was a 1984 graduate of Hurricane High School and a 1986 graduate of the University of Charleston, School of Nursing. After graduation, she worked with Charleston Area Medical Center. She was also a member of Scott Depot Christ Fellowship.

Surviving in addition to her parents: children, Michael Walker, currently a student at the University of Cincinnati, and Gabrielle Harrah of Scott Depot; sisters, Drema Henley of Scott Depot, Melissa Miller of Bridgeport, and Danielle Oxley of Hurricane; grandfather, John Guy Smith of Nitro.

Service was held Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Dr. Rodney L. Taylor and the Rev. Larry Hammett officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Memorial donations may be made to Scott Depot Christ Fellowship, 4345 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot WV 25560.

Edwin Eugene Petty

Edwin Eugene “Tim” Petty, 50, of Poca died April 14, 2005.

He was born in Charleston in 1972. He attended West Virginia University, and worked for the US. Postal Service for 30 years. He was also an avid photographer.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac H. Petty Sr.

Surviving: companion, Kimberly Dixon; daughters, U.S. Army SPC Mary Beth Petty, stationed in Fargo, North Dakota, and Brittaney Lorraine Petty, a freshman at Marshall University; son, Edwin Timothy Petty at home; mother, Norma Jean Radcliff Petty of Charleston; sister, Marshal Brown of Mitchellville, Maryland; brothers, Francis Tucker of Virginia, Sfc. Isaac H. Petty Jr., Army Ret., of Fort Lee, Virginia, and Major Kevin L. Petty, Army Ret., of Seaside, California; several nieces and nephews.

Service was held Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at the J. E. Scott Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry O. Leftridge of Columbus, Ohio presiding.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kanawha County or Putnam County animal shelters.

James Grady Ferguson

James Grady Ferguson, 54, of Barboursville, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Pea Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Greg Creasy and Rev. Carl Merritt. He was born March 11, 1951, son of Eathel McComas Yates of Huntington and the late Odie Leroy Ferguson. In addition to his father, Mr. Ferguson, was preceded in death by two brothers, Odie Allen and Robert Eugene Ferguson. He was a retired surveyor from the West Virginia Department of Highways with 32 years of service. He was a member of Pea Ridge Baptist Church, past president of Huntington Archery Club, a member of Southern Bow Hunters of West Virginia, West, Virginia Bow Hunters Association and owner of Shawnee Arrow of Barboursville. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his mother and stepfather Eathel McComas Yates and Bennie Yates of Huntington; his wife. Martha Nash Freeman; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen Scott and Karen Ferguson of Scranton, Pal., and Barry James and Crystal Ferguson of Barboursville; and four grandchildren, Aaron James, Austin Matthew, Evan Matthew and Kenslee Elizabeth Ferguson, who gave his life great joy. Henson Mortuarty, Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.
