Shirley A. Bennett
Shirley A. Bennett, 58, of Rt. 5, Clarksburg, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2006, at United Hospital Center after an extended illness.
She was born December 15, 1947, in West Milford, a daughter of the late Roy M. and Mildred I. Greaver Mitchell.
On December 31, 1966, she married George W. Bennett Sr. who survives.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law: George W. Bennett Jr. and Wilma of Lost Creek, David W. Bennett and Jamie of West Milford and Orval R. Bennett and girlfriend Julie Lynch of Lost Creek; brother Bobby Mitchell and girlfriend Donna Sharp of West Milford; nephew, Danny Mitchell of West Milford; and grandchildren, George W. Bennett III and Emily H. Bennett, both of Lost Creek.
She was employed at United Summit Center of Clarksburg. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She really enjoyed taking care of handicapped persons.
Shirley was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Rose Hill cemetery and Mausoleum of West Milford.

Robert Corcovilos
Mr. Robert "Bob" Corcovilos, 68, of Huntington, passed away April 13, 2006, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was the son of the late Theodore C. and Anna Laura Corcovilos of Grafton.
Bob attended Weston High School and served as a member of the Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy. He was a volunteer for the VA Medical Center, Huntington, with over 6000 hours of volunteer service. He was also an active member of the Marine Corps League.
He is survived by four children: Shirley Ann, Pamela, Robert and Adam. He is also survived by his loving brother, Ted Corcovilos of Ravenswood and several nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind many friends and co-workers from the VA Medical Center.
A memorial service was held at noon on Tuesday, April 18 at the VA Medical Center Chapel, Huntington, with the Marine Corps League officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Thursday at the National cemetery in Grafton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church Building Fund, 600 Crooks Ave., Ravenswood, WV 26164. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is in charge of funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at chapmansmortuary@wvdsl.net.

Ruth M. Greenlief
Ruth M. Greenlief, 84, of Glenville, departed this life at 11:13 a.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Born December 29, 1921, in Gilmer County, near Glenville, daughter of the late Homer and Bessie Minigh Langford.
Ms. Greenlief was a homemaker. She was a long-time member of the Crooked Run Community Church. She loved gardening and working with her flowers. She loved to cook and bake; she loved sharing her delicious food with family and friends.
On June 8, 1937, she was united in marriage to Charles Lee Greenlief, who preceded her in death on May 15, 1971.
Surviving are five daughters and two sons: Betty Byrd and husband Asel; Mildred Greathouse; Wanda Frederick and husband Lawrence; Linda Nolan and husband Bill; Emma Byrd and husband Frank; Kenneth Lee Greenlief and wife Elizabeth, all of Glenville; and Steve Greenlief and wife Joyce of Burnsville.
One brother survives: Melvin Langford of Weston; three sisters: Geneva Wolfe of Baldwin, Naomi Beall of Glenville and Maxine Jenkins of Sullivan, Ohio.
There are 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-granchildren also surviving.
Ms. Greenlief was preceded in death by one son, Charles Linn Greenlief; one granddaughter, Lecia M. Byrd; two grandsons, Charles A. Byrd and Infant Byrd; one great-great-grandson, Joey Frederick; one brother, Paul Langford; and two sisters, Lela Langford and Rosalee Hess.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 12 at the Ellyson Mortuary of Glenville with the Rev. Ronzel Roberts and Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial followed in Rhoades cemetery near Glenville.

C. Edward Griffin
C. Edward Griffin, 61, of 122 Harrison Avenue, Weston, died at 10:02 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, in United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, after a brief illness.
He was born June 11, 1944, in Weston, a son of the late Joseph and Naomi Ruth John Griffin.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Griffin.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Michelle Edman and husband Benjamin of Camden, Rachel Dozer and husband John of Weston and Jennifer Thompson and husband Desmond of Clarksburg. One brother, Patrick Griffin and wife Linda of Woodbridge, VA. Two aunts: Maude Louise John of Weston and Mary Griffin of Sun City Center, Florida. One granddaugther, Jacee Dozer of Weston. Two grandsons: Elijah Dozer of Weston and Braxton Thompson of Clarksburg. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ed became a member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department in 1962, was appointed Assistant Chief in 1977, appointed Chief in 1987 and retired in 1997.
The reason Ed first joined the fire department was because his mentor Ed Blair was a member of the fire department at that time.
He later worked as a real estate agent for Garton Real Estate and was a National Realtor of the Regional M.L.S. He was a licensed pilot with an instrument rating.
He was a loving father and grandfather.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20 from the St. Patrick Catholic Church with Reverend Father Jeremiah McSweeney as celebrant. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at the Boyle Funeral Home of Weston. Interment will be in the Broad Run cemetery in Jane Lew. A rosary service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weston Volunteer Fire Department or the St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Joe Harold Hartley
Joe Harold Hartley, 54, of 1793 Churchville Road, Camden, died at 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston following a brief illness.
He was born in Lewis County on December 15, 1951; son of the late Harold and Julia (Radcliff) Hartley.
On July 28, 1972, he married Jane (Brady) Hartley, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Kim Ray and husband Collin of Lawrenceville, IL, and Julie Chapman and husband Shawn of Jackson's Mill; one son Joe Hartley II and wife Amanda of Jackson's Mill; and 8 grandchildren: Landen and Camren Ray, Madison, Chayten and Mason Chapman, and Haley, Abby and Courtney Hartley. Mr. Hartley is also survived by one brother, Walter Hartley of Roanoke, VA, one sister, Judy Stamper of Weston and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hartley was a mechanic with Hydrocarbon Well Service of Buckhannon.
Friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Wednesday, April 12. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clifford West officiating. Interment followed in the Snyder cemetery, Churchville community in Lewis County.

Imogene Hickman
Imogene "Jeanie" Hickman, 82, of 124 First Street, Weston, died at 3:00 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Denver and Mary Lesher of Jane Lew following a brief illness.
She was born March 9, 1924, in Roane County, a daughter of the late J.J. Starcher and Rosanna Hamrick Starcher.
She was twice married, first to Gay Lesher who died in 1962; then to Charles R. Hickman who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Denver Lesher of Jane Lew, Charles D. Hickman of Boise, Idaho, and James R. Hickman of Houston, Texas.
Seven grandchildren, Rita, Michael, Stacy, Rebecca and Jessica Lesher and Casey and Amy Hickman. Five great granchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Sue Lesher, one son Bernard Lesher, one grandson, Toby Lesher and one half brother.
Mrs. Hickman was a member of the Grace Baptist Temple in Jane Lew.
Friends were received at the Boyle Funeral Home of Weston on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roger Brown officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Ruth Hooton Melphis
Ruth Hooton Melphis, 103, died Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006, at the Church of God Home, Carlisle, PA.
Born January 30, 1903 in Rowlesburg, WV, she was a daughter of the late Ulysses Grant and Sarah Edwards Hooton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Victor Emile Melphis; her son, Robert Emile Melphis Sr., and brothers, George and Fred Hooton.
She was a retired glass decorator for West Virginia Specialty Glass and participated in painting glassware chosen by Jacqueline Kennedy for the White House. She was a lover of cats and flowers, was famous for her green thumb and a ravenous WV Mountaineer fan.
Surviving are three grandchildren: Deborah Reeder of Centerville, MD, Robert Melphis Jr. of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Sharyn Rosenburg of Duncannon, PA; a niece Rosemarie Eakin of Elkins, WV whom Ruth raised; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn C. Melphis of Centerville, MD; 8 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, two grand nieces and a grand nephew.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove cemetery in Morgantown.

J. Woodford Piercy
J. Woodford Piercy, 90, of Glendale, AZ, died February 12, 2006, in the Roswell Medical Center in Glendale.
Memorial services was held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, from the Boyle Funeral Home with the Reverend Cletus Hudkins and Michael Piercy officiating.
Private interment will be in the Weston Masonic cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Legion Post #4.

William L. Quick
William L. Quick, 71, of Cortland, Ohio, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2006 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 25, 1934, in Ellamore, the son of Oral D. and Mabel Wentz Quick, and had lived in Trumbull County since the early 1950s.
Bill served with the military police in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and had worked as a machine operator for ITT Grinnell, retiring in 1996. He was a nature lover and enjoyed nature walks, rocks, flea markets and collecting.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Lou Martindale Quick, whom he married March 21, 1987; two sons, Phillip L. Quick of Warren and Albert J. Quick of Cortland; his stepmother, Cornelia Quick of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher and Kayla Marie Quick, all of Warren; two brothers, Charles Quick of Baltimore, MD, and Dane Quick of West Virginia; and a sister, Pamela Murray of Punxsutawney, PA.
Preceding him in death are his parents and two brothers, Myron and Ronald Quick.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2006, at McFarland and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kory Tedrick and the Rev. Scott Uhlinger of Walnut Creek Community Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1296 Tod Place N.W., Warren, Ohio 44485.

Austin Herbert Taylor
Austin Herbert Taylor, 69, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Elkview and Weston, died suddenly on Monday, April 10, 2006, at his residence.
He was retired from Halliburton Services in Clendenin, WV. He was working at Country Creek Golf Course and was a member of the Jamaica Golf League in Fort Myers. He was a member of the Cypress Lake United Methodist Church of Fort Myers, FL.
Mr. Taylor was born in Weston on April 18, 1936, to Cecil Taylor of Weston and the late Kathryn Taylor.
Austin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois (Post) Taylor, whom he married on September 12, 1958, his children, Jeffrey Taylor and wife Tammy of Weston, Stephen Taylor and wife Patricia of Ellicott City, MD, Lois Ann Carnes and husband Rex of Gastonia, NC, and Timothy Taylor of Charleston.
In addition to his father Cecil, Mr. Taylor is survived by his sister Mary Ann Swisher and husband Robert of Weston, his grandchildren Justin, Jessica, Amanda, Heather, Matthew, Jennifer and Angel and the many other family members and friend whose lives he touched.
Friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Sunday, April 16 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday at 11 a.m. from Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Arthur of Elkview presiding. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the charity of your choice or Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, 8570 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919.

Mabel Grey Workman
Mabel Grey Workman, 64, of Weston, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 17, 2006, at Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown.
She was born February 15, 1942, in Bablin, a daughter of the late George and Arthie McCourt Allman.
She is survived by her husband Howard Louis Workman.
Also surviving are one daughter, Wanda Titus and husband Gary of Weston; four sons, Howard Workman and wife Althea of Troy, Leslie Workman and wife Charlotte of Weston, Jerry Workman and wife Cathy from Weston and Raymond Workman and fiancé Mary Roberts of Weston; two sisters, Virginia Smith and Louann Allman, both of Weston; one brother, Harvey E. Allman of Weston; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-granchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Claypoole and two brothers.
Mrs. Workman was a member of the Haleville Union Mission. She was a retired glass cutter.
Friends were received at the Alkire Funeral Home of Ireland on Tuesday, April 18. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Alkire Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Gum officiating. Interment will follow in the Kincaid cemetery.
