Larry K. Ward
Larry K. Ward 77 of Old Mill Road, Jane Lew died Wednesday evening at 8:15 p.m. November 4, 2007 after an extended illness.
He was born February 16, 1930 in Weston a son of the late George and Phyllis Jennings Ward.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Patricia Ward.
He was a a retired lieutenant with the Columbus Ohio Division of Police.
Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting very much. He loved to water ski.
Survivors include his wife Sanda Blackwell Ward of Jane Lew; one son L. Brent and wife Sara Ward of Richmond, Va.; five daughters, Terry and husband Anthony Libby of East Sandwich, Mass.; Kimberly and husband Daniel Linton. of Columbus, Ohio; Lisa Ward of Columbus, Ohio; Angela Ward of Charleston, S.C and Jodi Contract of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip and wife Elaine Ward of Columbus, Ohio and Kenneth and wife Sally Ward of Galloway, Ohio and one sister, Martha and husband Dennis Carroll of Des Moines, Iowa.
At Larry's request his body will be cremated and the family will have a private memorial service. Boyle Funeral Home of Weston.

Lois Ruth Duncan
Lois Ruth (Harris) Duncan, 97, of 111 Fairground Road, Glenville, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at 7:45 a.m. in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston, following an extended illness.
She was born in Lewis County on May 27, 1910; daughter of the late Marion Harris and Florence (Marsh) Harris.
In 1932, she married Samuel Franklin Duncan, who preceded her in death in 1962.
Mrs. Duncan is survived by two sons, Marion F. (Buck) Duncan and wife Pearl (Groves) of Crawford and William R. Duncan and wife Betty (Lake) of Weston; and seven daughters, Wilma V. Curtis and husband Oley of Roanoke, F. Rose Aichele and husband Tom of Clarksburg, Betty L. Burkhammer of Weston, V. Mildred Rittenhouse and husband Ronnie of Jane Lew, M. Pauline Riffle and husband Russell of Crawford, Sylvia R. Ables and husband Carl of Weston, and Cammie Charlotta Clark.
Also surviving are one stepson, Paul J. Duncan and wife Glenna of Akron, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Katherine Hall of Walkersville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters, one brother, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, one stepson, two stepdaughters, three step grandchildren, two sons-in-law and three step sons-in-law.
Lois attended the Message of Light Tabernacle of Weston. She loved to sew, raise a garden, and can her vegetables. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed family gatherings.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Thursday, January 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Bob Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in the Hall cemetery of Walkersville.

Robert J. Gissy
Robert J. Gissy, 86, of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully at Worthington Manor on January 19, 2008.
He was born in Lewis County, August 29,1921, the son of the late Jacob L. Gissy and Genevieve M. Droppleman Gissy.
He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Catholic High School in Weston. He attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church for 61 years, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Altar Server. He was a member of the Serra Club.
He retired from Dupont with 45 years service as an Area Supervisor and served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater on Okinawa.
Bob enjoyed farming, gardening, sports, woodworking and picture framing. He also coached Little League baseball for many years in the Jefferson Central League, the Mt. Olivet League and the Babe Ruth League.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ernestine Stark Gissy; two sons, Stephen J. Gissy and wife Cynthia of Vienna, David E. Gissy and wife Laurie, of Katy, Texas; three daughters, Janet Reich and husband Dan of Flagstaff, Arizona, Linda Carpenter of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Sharon Stanard and husband Alan of White House, Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Gissy of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Stephen Gissy, Michael Gissy, Leah Gissy, Tevis Reich and Kelly Mariotti; one great-granddaughter, Ava Mariotti; and one brother, Joe Gissy of Starke, Florida; and several step grandchildren.
He was prededed in death by one son, Robert Gissy in 2002; a son-in-law. William Carpenter in 2006; two brothers, Tom and John Gissy; one sister, Joan Eneix.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Peterson as celebrant. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel cemetery.Visitation was Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with a wake service beginining at 8 p.m.

Stella Maxine Hefner
Stella Maxine Hefner, 82, of Covelick Road, Weston, died Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following an extended illness.
She was born March 31, 1925, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Elasha Metz and Stella Dooley Metz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Oras Cledith Hefner on November 30, 1997; one son, Lash Hefner; one son-in-law, Earl Wood; and siblings, Cora Musser, Mary Neal, Harley Metz, Earl Metz, George Metz, Claude Metz and John Metz.
She is survived by nine children and spouses, Patty and Holly Paugh, Marie Wood, Bobby and Cindy Hefner, Eddie and Roberta Hefner, Carol and Brenton Wiant, Sandra and JR Barnett, Debra Hefner, Kathy and Bill Daley, all of Weston and LeaEllen and Randy Mock of NC; one daughter-in-law, Georgia Hefner of Weston; 27 grandchildren, Mark Barnett (wife Linda), Pam Bates, Mike Paugh, Brenda Smith, Stella Wood, Joyce Duncan, David Wood, Missy Smith, Charlie Hefner, Kevin Hefner, Greg Hefner, Trevor Hefner, Ashley Hefner, Beth Smith, Jamie Hefner, Teresa Lunsford, Kim Jordan, Doc Wiant, Angie Wiant, Casey Wyatt, Todd Hefner, Robbie Gum, Chad Gum, Kathy Gum, Bill Daley, Lorelei Daley and Faith Daley; 40 great-grandchildren, Shannon Bates, Dustin Bates, Racheal Paugh, Mike Paugh, Travis McCloy, Eric Sherrard, Ryan Sherrard, Christy Corbin, Keli Cook, Tyler Wood, Jacob Smith, Cody Hefner, Hunter Hefner, Kamryn Hefner, Damian Hefner, Brooklynn Hefner, Robbie Metz, Aaron Lunsford, Charissa Jordan, Josh Lunsford, Tyler Lunsford, Abby Lunsford, Maggie Wyatt, Lauren Wyatt, Brady Gum, Cody Gum, Brandon Gum, Ashley Duncan, McKenna Daley, Adam Heater, Tanner Lawson, Tyler Lawson, Mary Lawson, Josh Moran, Jehra Smith and Liam Smith, Jenny Barnett, Brittney Barnett, Mark Barnett and Toshia Brown; four great-great-grandchildren, Hunter McManaway, Haden Cook, Melodee Corbin and Megan Corbin; siblings, Andrew Metz of Ohio, June Metz of Weston and Jean Taylor of Weston; and several nieces and nephews.
Stella loved to listen to gospel music and cook and care for those around her.
She was Methodist by faith and attended Bealls Mill United Methodist Church.
Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 5, at the Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Avenue, Weston, WV. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Gum officiating. Interment followed in Old Field Fork cemetery, Lewis County.

Holly B. Henline
There will be a Memorial Service for Holly B. Henline on Monday, January 28, at 2 p.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston.
Holly was born November 4, 1926, and passed on November 25, 2007.
Please join her family in a celebration of her life.

James W. McCauley
James W. "Jim" McCauley, 57, of Weston, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born December 12, 1950 in Weston, a son of the late Carl Edward "Buck" McCauley and Ruth Jane Marsh McCauley.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Linda R. Rinberger McCauley; one daughter, Toni McCauley at home; one stepson, Steven Hampton of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Sandra Warner of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Roger McCauley of Dunbar and Carl McCauley of Sandusky, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles McCauley.
He was a diesel mechanic, working in Lewis County for over 35 years.
Jim was Christian by faith and a good samaritan, always going out of his way to help those in need.
He was a member of VFW Post #5131.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, at Boyle Funeral Home of Weston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24, at the Boyle Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Donald McCauley officiating. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National cemetery, Grafton.

Lillian Louise McHenry
Lillian Louise Boyers McHenry, age 62, of Weston, departed this life suddenly on January 19, 2008, at the United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
She was born in Monongalia County on June 25, 1945; daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Hawn) Boyers.
Louise was a homemaker and Protestant by faith.
Mrs. McHenry is survived by four sons, Kennard J. and Junene McHenry of Clarksburg, Kevin and Jackie McHenry of Weston, Mark and Shelly McHenry of Weston, and Terry McHenry of Weston. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Kelly, Wendy, Whitney, Shane and Hannah McHenry.
Mrs. McHenry is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, Jim Boyers of Morgantown, Joe Boyers of Weston, David Boyers of Glenville, Edna McHenry of Linn and Ruth White of Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene and one brother, Chuck.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24, at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville, with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the McHenry II cemetery, Sand Fork. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Causbie N. Messenger
Causbie N. Messenger, age 96, of Centre Hall, Pa., and formerly of Buckhannon, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008, in Centre Hall, Pa.
She was born December 4, 1911, in Buckhannon; the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel Kesling Campbell.
Her husband, Everett W. Messenger, preceded her in death in 1974.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Messenger of Centre Hall, Pa., and Richard Messenger of Pittsburgh, Pa.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Messenger was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene M. Pritt; and by a brother, Harold Campbell.
She was a past member and Sunday school teacher at the Macedonia United Methodist Church and a past member of the Fishing Camp Women's Club. She was retired from the WT Grant Company of Pittsburgh.
Family and friends were received on Saturday, January 19, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel with services held on Sunday, January 20, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mona Jackson officiating. Burial followed in the Peterson cemetery.

William Robert Moneypenny
William Robert Moneypenny, 79, of 302 US Highway 33 West, Weston, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston, following a brief illness.
He was born in Weston on September 2, 1928; son of the late Virgil O. Moneypenny and Irene L. (Jarvis) Moneypenny.
On November 24, 1949, he married Louise (Radcliff) Moneypenny, who survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Cathy Stark and husband Dan of Hurricane.
Mr. Moneypenny was a heavy equipment operator with CNG National Gas Company, with 38 years of service. He was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a sergeant in the 45th Infantry Division 180th Regiment during the Korean Conflict, where he received several medals, including the Bronze Star.
Friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Wednesday, January 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. A private funeral service will be held on Thursday from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew.

David E. Plants
David E. Plants, age 60, of 342 Center Avenue, Weston, passed away at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Burton, WV, on October 26, 1947, a son of the late Curtis E. Plants and Mary Madeline Rice Plants.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Leslie A. Stanley Plants, whom he married January 1, 1976; two daughters, Micah Irene Plants, a student at WVU in Morgantown, and Carie Annette Plants, a student at Lewis County High School, Weston; four sisters, Sylvia Bearce, Erie, Pa., Karen Lee Mercer and husband Raymond, Metz, WV, Rebecca Rae Minger and husband Ronnie, Barrackville, and Lana Marie Conrad and husband Randal, Burnsville; his mother-in-law, Dorothy B. Stanley, Clarksburg; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
David was a member of Saint Matthew United Methodist Church in Weston. He was a graduate of Mannington High School, Class of 1965, and a psychology major from Fairmont State College. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He had been employed as an information systems coordinator at Sharpe Hospital in Weston.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of remembrance of David's life will be held on Sunday, February 3, at 2 p.m. at the Hickory House, Route 19, in Jane Lew.
This is a Davis-Weaver service.

Lillian Reese
Lillian Reese, 85, of Noyock, NC, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Alzwell Assisted Living, Chesapeake, VA, following an extended illness.
She was born June 30, 1922 in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Hanson Yates Jarvis and Martha Alice Hammer Jarvis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry Emanuel Reese in May of 1998; and two sisters, Wynogene Myers and Marjorie Hart.
Lillian is survived by one son and wife, Fred and Margaret Reese of Noyock, NC; two grandchildren, Jodi Rabinowitz of Williamsburg, VA, and Joseph Reese of Atlanta, GA; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Evan Rabinowitz of Williamsburg, VA.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, at Broad Run cemetery, Jane Lew, with Reverend Russell Furr officiating.
