Anna V. “Nanny” Colloras, 91, died April 7, 2005, at SunBridge Nursing Home of Hurricane.

Surviving: daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Bill Childs of Hurricane; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Service was held Monday, April 11, 2005, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane.

Norma Jean Richardson

Norma Jean Richardson, 75, of Culloden died April 7, 2005, at Putnam General Hospital after a short illness.

She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Putnam County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin G. Bailey.

Surviving: daughters, Carolyn Hudson of Dunbar, Patsy Roush and husband, John, of Culloden, Robin Turley of Culloden, and Pat Tolley and husband, Bill, of Culloden; grandchildren, Kelly Vance, Tracy Lanier, Kim Hartley, Jeff Hartley, Scottie Johnson, Josh Turley, B.J. tonney, and Mike Tolley; 12 great-grandchildren.

Service was held Monday, April 11, 2005, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. David Bess officiating. Burial was in Teays Hill Cemetery, St. Albans.

Gregory S. Robinson

Gregory S. Robinson, 44, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was employed as a salesman for serveral companies and was a 1978 graduate of Hurricane High School. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 19798. He was also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity while attending Marshall University.

Surviving: parents, Donald and Barbara Robinson of Scott Depot; brother, Douglas A. Robinson, sister-in-law, Cindy Robinson, nephew, Douglas Robinson II, and niece, Megan Mitchell-Robinson, all of Dunbar.

Service was held Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Dr. J.D. Harrah and the Rev. George Bendall officiaitng. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.

Vernon D. Foster

Vernon D. Foster, 69, of Fraziers Bottom, fomerly of Obetz, Ohio, died April 7, 2005, at his residence.

He was born October 6, 1935 in Huntington, to the late Jeremiah Otis and V. Oma Gibson Foster. He had 26 years of service with Federal Glass, and seven years of service with Brown Steel Company, Columbus, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea, A. Battery, 6th Howitzer Battalion SP, 80th Artillery, AP07.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma J. Brown of Orient, Ohio, and a brother, C. Darrell Foster of Obetz.

Surviving: wife, Judy A. Foster; daughters, Esther Rinehart and Valerie Fritz, both of Obetz; sons, Tony Foster of Ashville, Ohio, Mike Crider of Ashville, Ohio, and Gary Davis of Fraziers Bottom; brother, Larry M. Foster of Fraziers Bottom; seven grandchildren; many family members and friends.

Service was held Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Milton, with Minister Boyd Purcell offocisating. Burial wtih military graveside rites was held at Mount Live Cemetery, Milton. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.

Michael S. Rooney

Michael S. Rooney, 50, of Lesage, WV, born July 13, 1954, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, and great friend. He had a way of touching everyone he knew, both by words and by love. Michael was an insurance agent in Barboursville, WV, an incredible singer and songwriter and had a way of bringing words to life, and his words will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat Rooney II and Betty Rooney. Surviving him is his wife Barbara, with whom he shared a love so tender and enduring; a son Matthew (Shannon) and daughters Hillary, Megan, and Danielle. Michael Rooney would say, “I've had joy, love and laughter and I have NO REGRETS.” Michael wanted everyone to live their life the way they wanted and to love one another as they want to be loved. He encouraged his family and had great hopes for them. As a result of his encouragement, his daughter Hillary has her own business, Megan is a student at Marshall University, and Danielle plans to attend college at Marshall University after graduating from high school.

Matthew's marriage to Shannon has provided his parents with two beautiful grandchildren, Michael and Nina. Hillary has a beautiful daughter, Dominique, who also is a great joy to her grandparents. Other survivors include brothers Jim Rooney (Linda), Pat Rooney III (Jeanette), and sisters Kelly Harp (Mike), Kathy Edmondson (Rich), Gerry Sandhaus (Andrew) and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday at Beard Mortuary, Huntington. Burial followed in Greenbottom Memorial Park.

Norma Jean Richardson

Norma Jean Richardson, 75, of Culloden, widow of Ervin G. Bailey, died Thursday in Putnam General Hospital. She was a homemaker. Funeral 11 am Monday, April 11, 2005, at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel Hurricane; burial in Teays Hill Cemetery, St. Albans.

Vernon D. Foster

Vernon D. Foster, 69, of Fraziers Bottom, formerly of Obetz, Ohio, husband of Judy A. Foster, died Thursday at home. He worked for Federal Glass and Brown Steel Co. Funeral was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Milton; burial in Mount Olive Cemetery, Milton. Lockbourne Freewill Baptist Church, Groveport, Ohio, and Chapman Funeral Home Huntington, WVa were in charge of arrangements.

Leslie Browning

Leslie Browning, 80, of Barboursville died Saturday at home. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel Barboursville; burial in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington.

Mary Eva Reynolds Cart Stowasser

Mary Eva Reynolds Cart Stowasser, 94, of Culloden died Friday, April 8, 2005, in Sunbridge of Putnam. Funeral service were conducted 2 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Culloden Cemetery. Mary was born March 7, 1911, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Tom and Mary Jane Reynolds. She was also preceded in death by one son, Billie Cart; two daughters; and several brothers and sisters. She was retired from Huntington Manufacturing. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Sunderland of Culloden; one sister, Frances Henderson of Culloden; daughter-in-law, Virginia Cart of Milton; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Ray Edward Scarberry

Ray Edward Scarberry, 56, formerly of Glenwood, WV, died Saturday, April 9, 2005. Graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in Union Ridge Cemetery by Pastor Robert Tucker. He was born June 18,1948, in Mason County, W.Va, a son of the late Willie and Bessie Waugh Scarberry. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Mobley and Judy Holland, and brother-in-law, Elvin Sutphin. He is survived by three sisters, Norma Sutphin of Ona, W.Va., Sue Wyisel of Melbourne, Fla., and Linda Brannen of Beckley, W.Va.; one brother, Billy Scarberry of Glenwood, W.Va., and . several nieces and nephews. There was no visitation. Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Carl Eugene Jenkins

Carl Eugene Jenkins, 64, of Barboursville, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at home. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Dr. Ed Grant. Burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. He was born May 22, 1940, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Erva Jenkins and Gladys Jordan Jenkins. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked in the Huntington area for 45 years and had just retired. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Jenkins and Harold Jenkins, and one sister, Alberta Cunningham. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Austin Jenkins; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike McClung of Barboursville; two very special grandsons, Matthew McClung and Brandon McClung; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Bill Theuring of Huntington and Myrtle and Raymond Ward of Orange County, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Janice Jenkins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Eloise Hensley of South Point, Ohio, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Sandy Austin of Russell, Ky.; and nephews, nieces and friends. A special thank-you to Hospice for all their care and support. Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel L. Stewart

Daniel L. Stewart, 25, of Pliny, WV, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Evangelist Ray Knapp officiating. Burial in Pete Meadows Cemetery, Glenwood, WV. Daniel was born December 4, 1979, in Huntington, a son of Rosalee Knapp Stewart and the late Dave Stewart. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Haimer Knapp and his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Garnett Meadows Stewart. He was employed at Hammers Industries, Huntington. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his twin brother, David L. Stewart of Pliny; two sisters, Melissa Scott and her boyfriend Jason Trippett of Glenwood and Mary Stewart of Pliny; girlfriend Tess Reynolds of Milton; maternal grandmother Stella Knapp; nephew David Allen Scott; niece McKenzie Trippett and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

William Calvin Washington Jr

William Calvin Washington Jr., 90, of Huntington, WV, died April 6, 2005, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Entombment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born August 12, 1914, in Fayetteville, WV, a son of the late William Calvin Washington Sr., and Dulcie May Bragg Washington Powers. He retired from Houdaille Industries. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and also was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Washington ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Craig Hedrick of Charlotte, NC., Phyllis and Gary Lycan of Greensboro, NC; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas W. and Marie Washington of Barboursville; one brother, Robert Edward Washington of Florida; five grandchildren, Chasity Hedrick, Christiana “Christy” Lycan, Kevin Lycan, Thomas Robert Washington and Veronica “Ronnie” Sue Coggin; three great-grandchildren, Joseph William Coggin, Benton James Coggin and Anderson Neeley Coggin. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

John Edwin Weekly

John Edwin Weekly, 42, of Barboursville, WV, formerly of Chicago, Ill, died at home after a long illness on Saturday, April 2, 2005. While John resided in the Barboursville area, he was a member of Pea Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as part time youth director. John graduated from Barboursville High School in 1980 and Cum Laude from Georgetown College, Georgetown, Ky., in 1984, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and was very active in student government. He attended Eastern Michigan University and Marshall University where he completed his Master's degree in history. He then graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. Prior to his illness, John was employed by the Howard Brown Health Institute of Chicago, Ill. John was preceded in death by his father, Glen E. Weekly on January 19, 2005. He is also survived by his mother, Helen M. Weekly, with whom he resided. Also surviving are his brother, William (Bill) Weekly and his wife Kathy of Barboursville; niece, Shanna G. Weekly of Huntington; nephew, Lindsey A. Baker of Seattle Washington and great-nephew, Peyton Graham Weekly of Barboursville. John is also survived by aunts and several cousins, as well as numerous friends local and afar. A memorial service was held Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV, by the Rev. Craig Coster. Donations may be made to the new Hospice House of Huntington, Attention: Development Department, PO Box 464, Huntington, WV, 25709.

Donald Reed Morrison

Donald Reed Morrison, 74, of Glenwood, WV, husband of Eva Holley Morrison, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at his residence with many family members and loved ones by his side. Donald was born in Cabell County, WV, on November 18, 1930, a son of the late Hallie and Havana Chapman Morrison. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Scott Ferguson officiating. Burial in Morrison Family Cemetery located on Don's beloved farm. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Richard Swann and a grandson, Jason Wilson. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Debbie Morrison of Glenwood and Wesley and Doris Morrison of Lesage, WV; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Reba Swann of Barboursville, WV, Roberta and Jack Black of Salt Rock, WV, Debbie and Tom Wilson of Huntington and Alma and Richard Chapman of Milton. He has 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Glenn Morrison of Hamlin, WV, Bobby Joe Morrison of Milton and Jerry Morrison of Salt Rock; three sisters, Oneita Toler, Faye Chapman and Betty Monday, all of Milton. He had two very special friends, Earl and Gloria McGue of Hurricane, WV. Don was retired from INCO. For the past 33 years, Donald and his family hosted the annual Morrison's Ox Roast for thousands at the family's farm on Union Ridge. He was also a founding member of the Mountaineer Sportsman Gun Club. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Steven Wayne Sawyers

Steven Wayne Sawyers, 58, of Barboursville, passed into a better life Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at his residence. He was born March 24, 1947 in Cabell County, West Virginia to Troy and Louise Burdette Sawyers. He was a road electrician for CSX for 27 years and CEO of Affordable Floral for 12 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Linda Grant and Joann Holton. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carole Wheeler Sawyers; one son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col Jeffrey S. and Valerie Ransbottom of New Windsor, NY; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Daniel Stacy of Huntington; one special grandson (whom he raised) Shawn Adkins; three grandchildren, David and Brittany Ransbottom and Tasha Adkins; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Frank Sawyers of Barboursville, Larry Sawyers of Huntington, Jerry and Alice Sawyers of Cleveland, Ohio and Rod and Barbara Sawyers of Wayne; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janet and Rodger Stephens of Barboursville and Laura Adkins of Cleveland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, with Pastor Carl Merritt officiating. Burial in Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock.

Lesta Gue

Lesta Gue, 87, of Lancaster, Ohio, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Fairfield Medical Center. She was a member of Green Valley United Baptist Church in Salt Rock, W.Va. She is survived by a sister, Lucille Boster of Lexington, Ky., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gue; parents, Eslie and Cynthia Adkins; two brothers, Harlow and Elsie Edwin Adkins; infant sister, Winford Adkins and infant brother, Arlow Adkins. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV, by the Rev. Russell Gue.

Oscar “Lyle” Harvey, Jr.

Oscar “Lyle” Harvey, Jr., 69, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 after a brief hospitalization. He was born June 1, 1935, in Huntington, a son of the late Oscar L. Harvey Sr., and Coral Wooton Harvey. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Barbara Woodrum Harvey and his beloved children and families, daughter Susan (Dana) Browning, their daughter, Jessica all of Grandbury, Texas , their daughter Velvet (James) Smith, their children, Hunter, Dallas, Elijah and Ezekial of Prattville, Ala.; son, Donald (Nancy) Harvey of Hendersonville, Tenn., daughters, Casey Harvey, and Samantha (Brian) Ray, her children, Tyler and Dakota Sumpter and step-grands, Brian, Blade and Alisha Ray of Huntington; cousins, Jack and Pat Sale, Laura Wooton Wolfe and Betty Wooton. Lyle was retired from the city of Huntington (HMPB). He loved sports and gardening. Although he had been on a walker for a number of years, he managed to “play in the dirt” and make sure that all of his kids were well provided for with tomatoes and other vegetables they liked. Favorite color was green, as in out of doors. His shadow was his inherited grand-doggie, Freckles. Funeral services were held Friday, April 8, 2005, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Craig Coster. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.

John Marvin Collins

John Marvin Collins, 71, of Milton, passed away April 2, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by the Rev. Millard Morrison. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born October 15, 1933, in Milton, a son of the late Delbert Lewis and Chlory Jane Jackson Collins. He was retired from Steel of West Virginia and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded m death by one brother, Herman Howard Collins. He is survived by his wife, Dianna Lynn Martin Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Eric Stowers and their son, Shannon; son Shawn Lee Collins; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Smith and their daughter, Emily Smith; stepson, Craig Owens and his daughter, Gabby Owens; one sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Johnnie Kirtley; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert Lewis and Marlene Collins, Ralph “Jim” and Linda Collins, Thomas Dovan Collins, Dwayne and Becky Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Cynthia.

Norma Jean Dunn

Norma Jean Dunn, 66, of Culloden, W.Va., wife of Harold Dunn, died at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Virgil Chapman and Ester Isabelle McDaniel Chapman, both of Culloden, W.Va. Jean was born December 5, 1938, in Marmet, W.Va. She was preceded in death by a very special brother-in-law, James Dunn, and two nephews, Larry Dunn and Anthony Lott. Throughout her life, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Jean is survived by her husband of 49 years, Harold. She has three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandy and Tom Zerkle of Ironton Ohio, Carrol Dunn of Culloden, W.Va., and Tammy and Chad Bentley of Barboursville, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Mikayla and Alex Bentley, Lexi Floyd, Shelby and Logan Zerkle. She is also survived by two sisters, Donna Dunn of Culloden, Delores Jean Dunn of Columbus, Ohio, and many special nieces and nephews. Services were conducted Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel, Hurricane, W.Va., with the Rev. Millard Morrison officiating. Burial in Fraziers Bottom United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fraziers Bottom, W.Va. Donations of Sympathy may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.

Connie J. Lively

Connie J. Lively, 56, of Hurricane passed away Friday, April 1, 2005, while on a trip to New Jersey. Connie was co-owner and operator Hurricane Wrecker Business in Hurricane. She was preceded in death by her mother, Justine Spunagle of Milton and father, Denzil Meadows of Hurricane. Surviving are her husband, Wayne Lively of Hurricane; sons Jackie Williams of Milton and Jeff Williams of Hurricane; stepchildren Tammy and Mark Kazee of Ashland, Ky., and Richard and Shona Lively, of Wayne, W.Va.; brothers Bob and Carolyn Meadows of Culloden, Darrell and Sue Meadows of Milton and Denver Meadows of Hay Market, Va.; many nieces and nephews and special friends Mikie White of Culloden and Warren and Mary Hodges of Hurricane. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerry White officiating. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park.

Esle A. “Bud” Perry

Esle A. “Bud” Perry, 61, of Barboursville died March 31, 2005. Survivors include a daughter, Natalie Marie Osment of Tucson, Ariz.; and one son, Adam Kenneth Perry of Jacksonville, Fla. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel; Burial in Arlington National Cemetery.

Dorothy Jean Powell

Dorothy Jean Powell, 84, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away February 18, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Memorial services were conducted Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Huntington, where she was a member. She was born July 31, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of the late Robert Barrows and Gay Simpson. She is survived by two sons, Rev. Martin W. Liebmann Jr. of Havana, Ill. and Roger Albert Liebmann of Perth, Western Australia; one daughter, Lois Ann Broyles of San Diego, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren. Henson Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.
