Kathleen Elaine Groves
Kathleen Elaine Groves, 63, of Lost Creek, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at her home.
She was born March 30, 1945, at Lost Creek, the daughter of the late Lester Enich Losh and Winona Wonda Dove Lowne Losh.
She was married to Robert Lee Groves on September 13, 1987, who survives at Lost Creek.
Also surviving are six sons, Roger Lee Butcher of Morgantown, Danny Joe Butcher of Lost Creek, Steven Wayne Butcher of Walkersville, Robert L. Groves of Clarksburg, Michael Lynn Groves of Bedford, Ohio, and Vernon E. Groves of Walkersville; two daughters, Karen Ann Butcher of Clarksburg and Lisa Ann Schrader of Petersburg; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Lee Butcher; three brothers; and one sister. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Groves was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a friend to all who knew her. She attended the Ingo Community Church.
Friends will be received at the Morris Funeral Home of Jane Lew on Thursday, April 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald Elmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockford cemetery.

Ronald Lee Hitt
Ronald Lee Hitt, 67, of Rt. 2 Jane Lew, died April 18, 2008, at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg.
He was born March 26, 1941, in Harrison County, the son of the late Blonda Earl Hitt and Dora Pearl Jearden Hitt.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Hitt of Rt. 2 Jane Lew and Jeffrey Lynn Hitt of Charleston; and two grandchildren. He cherished his friendship with James and Kathy.
Ronald was a dozer operator and truck driver and attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
There will be no visitation.
Morris Funeral Home of Jane Lew is handling arrangements.

Lois Lamb
Lois Lamb, 53, of Weston, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at her residence after a long battle with cancer.
She was born March 1, 1955, in Lewis County, a daughter of Orval L. Lamb and Juanita Carder Lamb of Jane Lew.
She is survived by three sisters, Patricia J. Cress of Weston, Kathy F. Smith and husband Russ of Weston and Kimberly J. Oxley and husband Allen of Thornville, OH.
Lois was also the proud aunt of five nephews, Chris Franklin, Sean Cress, Michael B. Franklin, Gary L. Lamb and Robbie Smith; and two nieces, Taylor Oxley and Alexis Oxley.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Lee Lamb; one nephew, Kyle Lee Cress; maternal grandparents, Doy and Ada Talbott; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Sara Lamb.
Lois was a graduate of Lewis County High School, Class of 1973. She retired from Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital with 32 years of service. She was a Mary Kay Beauty consultant for many years and a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
Lois had many friends and family and will be sadly missed by all.
Friends were received Friday, April 18, at Boyle Funeral Home, Weston. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church with Reverend Jonathan Nettles officiating. Lois was held in state at St. Matthew from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Rock Grove cemetery, Linn, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lois’s memory to People’s Hospice, P.O. Box 1680, Clarksburg, WV 26302-9960, and St Matthew United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 49, Weston, WV 26452.

Kathleen Barbara Phillips
Kathleen Barbara Phillips, 82, of 658 Locust Avenue, Weston, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2008, in the Western Pennsylvania Hospital.
She was born in Clarksburg, on August 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Hamrick of Clarksburg. Her dad was a prominent attorney in Clarksburg.
On November 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to Hayward C. Phillips, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Lee, and three brothers, Kenneth, Arthur and Victor Hamrick. Mrs. Phillips was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by one daughter, Connie Hoover and husband James Daniel Hoover of Weston. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Adam Stark and Elizabeth Stark, and four stepgrandchildren, Kim Turner, and Autumn, Angela and Max Hoover. Also surviving are six stepgreat-grandchildren, Katelyn, Jaylyn, Kate, Chase, Noah and Emily.
Kathleen Barbara Phillips was employed as a social worker for the state of West Virginia and was co-owner of Phillips Real Estate with her late husband. She was a past president of the Weston Branch of the American Association of University Women, former regent of the Trans-Allegheny Chapter, DAR; one of the first women to serve on the Board of Directors of the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Weston Sanitary Board, a member of the Weston City Council for two terms, a member of the Fireman’s Civil Service Commission, a member of Friends of the Library, Weston Community Design Team, Theresa Snaith Auxiliary, Weston Garden Club, a member of the Lewis-Gilmer Solid Waste Authority, a member of Rachel Chapter 47, OES, a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, where she served as chairman of the Board of Trustees; a member of Group 3, United Methodist Women of the church, a member of the WVU Emeritus Club and Alumni Association, a member of the Lewis County Development Authority and a member of the Weston Lions Club. She is listed in “Personalities of the South” and Dictionary of International Biographies.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Monday, April 21. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, with Reverend Jonathan Nettles, assisted by Reverend Ronald Brown, officiating. Interment followed in the Weston Masonic cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 123 East 3rd Street, or the Trans-Allegheny Chapter of DAR, c/o Julia Bragg, 516 Center Avenue, both in Weston, WV 26452.

Joyce Sue Raber
Joyce Sue Raber, 72, of Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital following a brief illness.
Joyce was born April 28, 1935, in Weston, the only daughter of the late Roy H. and Fleta (Reed) Bailey.
Joyce is survived by five sons and their wives: Michael and Jennifer, of Parkersburg; Steven and Vange of Price, Utah; Donally and Kathy of Washington; Robert and Kay of Parkersburg; and John A. and Connie of Little Hocking, Ohio. Her grandchildren include Jacob and Nicole Raber, Justin Raber, Jeremy Raber, Robin and Jason Cunningham, Amanda and Chris Ables, Amber and Curt Welch, and Shyrick Butch Raber. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Carl Raber in 1984.
She lovingly donated her body to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University Medical Center. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at a later date.

Flora B. Renshaw
Flora Belle (Riffle) Renshaw, 86, formerly of Licking St., Pierpont, Ohio, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born September 9, 1921, in R
oanoke, WV, the daughter of Jesse and Ella Belle (McClain) Riffle. A Cleveland resident from 1946 to 1964, she moved to Pierpont and remained there until moving to the ACNH in 2004.
Prior to her retirement in 1985, she worked 11 years as a finisher for Premix. She previously worked 5 years for the Industrial Rayon Plant in Cleveland.
A Methodist by faith, she enjoyed woodworking, gardening, landscape painting, and feeding the birds. She was a life member of the Ashtabula County Humane Society.
Her survivors include three step-children whom she raised like her own, Sheila (John) Woodburn and Karen (Dan) Suchala, both of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Charles Renshaw of Conneaut, Ohio; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Marion Riffle of Walkersville, WV and Dottie Riffle of Beckley, WV; five nieces, Pamela Kurilko, Sharon Burge, Patty Zutaut, Debbie Justice, and Pam Tetzloff; four nephews, Paul Joseph, Cecil Junior, and Dwayne Riffle, and Mike Prince; plus two very special friends, Martha and Victor Baker of Jefferson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Cecil, and Argyle Riffle; two sisters, Nina Burroughs and Olive Riffle.
At her request, no local services will be held. She will be laid to rest in Quickel cemetery, Braxton Co., WV where memorial services will be held at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the Ashtabula County Humane Society, PO Box 422, Jefferson, OH 44047.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

Debra Ann Aman
Debra Ann “Debbie” Aman, 44, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins, following an extended illness.
She was born May 1, 1964, in Weston, a daughter of James R. Aman and Norma Bush Aman of Camden, WV.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Jimmy P. Aman of Camden; one sister, Anita Aman of Morgantown; and one niece, Lauren Sandor of Morgantown.
Debbie was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Camden.
Friends were received Sunday, May 4, at Boyle Funeral Home, Weston. A Rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father George Manjadi as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Boniface cemetery.

Lillie Jane Bleigh
Lillie Jane Bleigh, 76, of Lost Creek, passed away at 12:31 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, following a sudden illness.
She was born in Lewis County on January 2, 1932, daughter of the late John Albert Pringle and Catherine (Chrislip) Pringle and step mother Hazel Rollins Pringle.
She was raised by Causby and Della Queen.
On August 26, 1961, she married Elmer A. Bleigh, who preceded her in death on November 7, 2005.
Mrs. Bleigh is survived by three daughters, Minnie C. Hyde and husband Timothy of Lost Creek, Sandra Turner and husband Kevin of Fortson, Ga., and Eleanor Persinger and husband Charlie of Jane Lew; and six grandchildren, Cody and Cory Hyde, Charles Persinger Jr., Bruce Holt and Emily and Kayla Turner.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Jo Lawson of Norton, Ohio, and Dottie Overton and husband John of Kent, Ohio; two step sisters, Reista Flathery and Thelma Fahrenbach, both of Hamilton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and step mother, Lillie was preceded in death by one step brother, Kenneth Rollins.
Mrs. Bleigh was a homemaker. She grew up in the Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston and attended the Lost Creek United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women of the church. Lillie was a member of the Lost Creek Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, Lost Creek Senior Citizens, Red Hat Society and the Lost Creek Lights Committee.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral, Weston, on Tuesday, May 6. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Ann Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship IOOF cemetery of Jane Lew.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lost Creek Fire Department, Lost Creek, WV 26378, or St. Judes Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 187, Memphis, TN 38101-0187.

Rodger Lee Burnside
Rodger Lee Burnside, 76, formerly of Jane Lew, died May 3, 2008, at 9:26 a.m. in the Hopemont Hospital.
He was born April 11, 1932, in Harrison County, the son of the late Aubrey E. and Helen Lowther Burnside.
He is survived by one brother, William M. Burnside and wife Barbara E. of Locust Grove, Va.; one nephew, Christopher W. Burnside of Madison, Va.; one great-niece and nephew, Annika and Carden Burnside of Madison, Va.
Rodger had worked for the WV Department of Highways and was a Methodist by faith.
Memorial services will be held at the Morris Funeral Home at a later date.

Patricia Grace DeBarr
Patricia Grace DeBarr, 57, of Weston, died Saturday morning, May 3, 2008, at home, after succumbing to facial cancer.
She was born on June 3, 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William Porter and Mary “Libby” Porter, and step-father Stanley Brooks.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Ray DeBarr; and son Jesse Porter DeBarr; her brothers, Daniel and Stephen Brooks; and sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Brooks; a great-uncle, Richard Porter; and her informal “sons,” Philip Ross and Clint Stenger.
She was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Weston, and was a former member of the Cert K-9 Search and Rescue unit. During her life she went to nursing school, became a certified veterinary assistant, a certified ophthalmology assistant, and a certified dog and dog-handler trainer. She loved to learn and read everything she could about cosmology, psychology, astronomy, and about the new discoveries in engineering and technology.
Since her early 30s she has struggled with various medical conditions including lupus and arthritis, a kidney transplant, a replaced hip, multiple fused vertebrae, two bouts with breast cancer, one with cervical cancer, and finally, jaw cancer. Through it all, she could always smile or offer an encouraging word to help someone else through a difficult time.
She had a beautiful soul and the heart of a warrior, her family and friends will miss her greatly, and the world lost a truly wonderful person.
Her body was donated to WVU School of Medicine but a memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Weston on Sat. June 7th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers send donations in memory of Patricia DeBarr of 2110 Glady Fork Rd., Weston, WV 26452 to the American Cancer Society by calling 1-800-227-2345.
