James R. Frame
James R. "Jim" Frame died Saturday, April 19, 2008.
He was born February 4, 1922, to Harry and Winifred Frame (Stalnaker) in Weston.
Jim went to Doddridge County High School in Weston Union his freshman through junior years and graduated from Pennsboro High School in 1941. He played quarterback on both high schools' varsity football teams. He held the West Virginia state record for longest field goal for over 20 years.
He fell in love with his beautiful wife Mary Kay Stutler when they were both freshmen.
Jim served in the Royal Canadian Air Force before the US entered WWII. Jim proudly served as a glider pilot in the South Pacific. Following the war, Jim served in the Army Reserves, retiring as a chief warrant officer 3.
Jim graduated from Marshall University in 1951 as a health/phys. ed and social studies teacher. He was a star split-end on Marshall's football team and a champion Golden Gloves boxer. He also played semi-pro football. After graduation, he taught and coached at Milton, WV high school. After teaching, Jim went to work for West Virginia Steel and helped to build the New River Gorge bridge as depicted on the West Virginia State Quarter. He later worked for Flintkote Insulrock roofing division, setting up many distributorships throughout the easter half of the United States. He became the regional sales manager in Mexico, Central and South American for Cessna Aircraft. Jim was brought to San Antonio, Texas, by Rockwell Aviation. He built a home in Hollywood Park and lived there for 38 years with his wife Mary Kay. Jim owned and operated the Hydrolite Corporation in San Antonio for over 30 years. His good friend and secretary of more than 20 years Mary Kay Klorer was invaluable to him.
Jim was active in many organizations in San Antonio. He held many offices including President of the Quiet Birdmen. He marched with the Scottish Rifles for several years as a member of the "Stewart Clan." Jim was privileged to meet Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles on their trips to San Antonio. Prince Charles recognized and spoke to him about his RCAF wings.
Jim was a descendant of Capt. Samuel Stalnaker, a pioneer and the first white man to discover the Cumberland Gap. Capt. Stalnaker's settlement was widely recognized and documented to be the western most settlement in the colonies in 1750, according to the State of Virginia.
Jim's brother Charles was a salvage diver in the US Navy during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. His mother, Winifred enlisted as a WAC on the same day he enlisted in the US Army serving in photographic identification. She ended her teaching career at the age of 76 in Point Barrow, Alaska. Jim's sister, Esthelene, was also a career teacher.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Harry Frame; his mother, Winnie D. Williamson; his brother, Charles "Charlie" Frame; and sister, Esthelene "Sissy" M. Osborne.
Jim was the loving husband of Mary Kay (nee Stutler) of 63 years; father of Valorie Kay Frame-Heidenreich (William); and grandfather of Michael James Grant, Christopher Mark Grant (Mary) and Kathryn Anne Grant.
Friends and family will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Saturday, May 10, from 12 to 2 p.m. A memorial service will follow with Reverend Clifford West officiating. Interment will be in the Georgetown cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard.

Wanda W. Goff
Wanda W. Goff, age 75, of 65 Renny’s Mobile Village, Buckhannon, died May 2, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hosptial following an extended illness.
She was born July 28, 1932, at Linn, Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Rex Freeman and Dora Radcliff Wiant.
She was united in marriage December 10, 1955, to Ray K. Goff who preceded her in death Sept. 1975.
Surviving are six brother,s Russell of Linn, Eugene of Toronto, Ohio, Rex Jr. of Providence Forge, Va., Roy Delano of Weston, Clinton “Jack” of Horner, and Gary Lynn of Camden; two sisters, Lucille Shoulders of Clarksville, Tenn. and Mary Lawson of Romney.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Ray Wiant, and one sister, Maxine McNair.
Mrs. Goff taught at the Diana Grade School in Webster County for a few years; was a Ward Secretary at the Webster County Memorial Hospital and retired from the Division of Highways, Webster County, with 21 years of service. After retirement, she moved to Buckhannon to be near relatives. She took senior aerobics at the fitness center, was a member of the Upshur County Senior Center, and enjoyed spending time there with other seniors, playing scrabble, card games, and using exercise equipment.
Private family graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Buckhannon Memorial Park cemetery. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements for Wanda W. Goff.

James Goldsmith
James Edward David Goldsmith,68 of Colliers, WV, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Trinity East Hospital, in Steubenville, OH.
He was born on May 14, 1939, in Bealls Mills, a son of the late Harry Otto and Laura Maxine Turner Goldsmith.
He was also preceded by a grandson, James Edward Goldsmith III in 1985 and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Goldsmith in 1985.
He was an Army Veteran, and a member of the Colliers United Methodist Church and was retired from US Can as a Machinist, Journeyman, and Pressman.
Surviving are, his wife,Patricia Randolph Goldsmith, at home; two sons, James Edward Goldsmith II and his wife, Sherri of Camden, Del., and Steven David Goldsmith and his wife, Cheryl of Camden, Del.; one daughter, Susan Lynn Goldsmith of Follansbee, W.Va.; two sisters, Norma Given, of Arkansas, and Susan Jean Moneypenny of Weston; one brother, Dewayne Riddle of Jane Lew; and five grandchildren, Kristina Niblett, Amanda Niblett, Mary Beth Goldsmith, Steven James Goldsmith, and Jennifer Goldsmith.
Friends were received on Friday, May 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St. Follansbee, where services were held on Saturday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Deane officiating. Interment followed in St. Johns cemetery, Colliers, W.Va. Full Military Honors by The Ohio Valley Memorial Squad.

David Hefner
David Hefner, 77, Hayesville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Mifflin Care Center.
He was born August 27, 1930, in Orlando, WV, the son of Edward and Lillie (Queen) Hefner.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Ashland Vault in 1995 and David's Own Cleaners in 1999.
David will be deeply missed by his wife of 43 years, Mary; sons, Charles Hefner Jr. of Akron, Ohio, and Wayne (Kathy) Hefner of Ashland, Ohio; daughters, Rose Ann Hefner of Ashland, and Diane (Ray) Bowman of Jeromesville, Ohio; sisters, Ann Dye of Weston, and Rosie Sommerville of Hurricane; brother, Carl Hefner also of Weston; grandchildren, Derek Williams, Michael Hay, Brandon Hefner, Shelby Hefner, Toshia Sprouse, Nicole Lindecamp, Tabitha Rhodes, Shelly Keefer, Sarah Johnson, Charlie Johnson Jr.; and several great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan Hefner, and brother James Hefner.
Calling hours were held on Monday, May 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home - Ashland Chapel, 1058 US 250 W., Ashland, Ohio, with Carl Breit officiating at the 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Ernest Lee McCall Sr.
The shepherd has called home another member of his flock. Ernest Lee McCall Sr., 79, of Jane Lew, West Virginia, has left this world for everlasting life on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 7:45 p.m. He passed away at home following a long battle with cancer. His spirit departed peacefully with his family surrounding him.
He was born July 4, 1928, in Springfield Township, Ohio, the son of the late David Lee and Frances (Harris) McCall. He married his surviving wife, Marcia Elaine (Taylor) McCall, on his birthday in Las Vegas, Nevada, and had spent 52 years together.
Surviving in addition to his wife Marcia is his greatest joy, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His surviving children are Sharon Mount (Rick) of Cambridge, Ohio, Tanya Riley (Jim) of Weston, Ernest “Cash” McCall II (Vickie) of Jane Lew, Tarla McCall and companion Gary Ruble of Jane Lew and Trena Smith (Rodney) of French Creek. He is also survived by his sister, Ella “Nanny” Millhoff of Jane Lew. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Cricket Dunlap, David Fisher, Dustin Doerr, Hyatt Baker, Jerry Constable, Joshua Smith, Kimberly Allen, Marcia Robey, Michael Riley, Romeo Radcliff, Russell Ball, Sheena Berg, Sherri Hinnant, Skylar Rogers, Tommie Baker and Tosha Clem and 15 great-grandchildren, Cameron Clem, Destiny Ball, Destiny Robey, Donnie Hinnant, Faithalyn Robey, Kendra Lattea, Kolbi Doerr, Makenzie Baker, Rondal Allen, Shane Androw, Shannon Walters, Shyanne Bullard, Shyanne Berg, Tristan Dunlap and Tyler Allen. Several nieces and nephews, many cousins especially the one he thought of as a brother, Robert “Bob” Harris of Clarksburg, survive.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Ann Baker, son, Trent Allen McCall and sister, Marie Wilson.
Coming here from Covina, California with his wife, Marcia, Mr. McCall created several successful businesses — McCall’s Marine, McCall’s Rental and McCall’s Cash-N-Pawn. His last thoughts were I love all my family ...
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Sunday, May 4, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jason Allen officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew.

Sara Blair Piercy
Sara Blair Piercy, age 90, of Weston, departed this life on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at her family home, where she resided most of her life.
She was born in Weston on January 16, 1918, a daughter of the late Robert Cowan Blair and Leah Eakin Blair.
She was married to William Lionel Piercy on July 23, 1938, who survives.
Surviving are three sons, William J. Piercy and daughte-in-law, Thomasina Piercy of Harpers Ferry; Charles B. Piercy and daughter-in-law Jeanie Piercy, and Robert L. Piercy and daughter-in-law Judith Piercy of Weston; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Tracy Berends and husband Kenneth, daughters Kaylee and Amanda, Westminster, Md., Jody Riley and husband Jason, sons, Austin and Lucas, Weston, Samuel Piercy and wife Laura, Morgantown, Janelle Piercy, Weston, and Katelyn Piercy, Weston; along with many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Edward E. Blair, Robert C. Blair Jr. and James M. Blair; and sister, Susan V. Montgomery.
Mrs. Piercy was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston and attended the Bendale United Methodist Church. She previously was employed by the Weston National Bank, West Virginia Department of Highways and the Caravan Motel of Weston. During WWII, she worked with the War Ration Board of Lewis County and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Her political interests included being past president of the Lewis County Democratic Committee.
A graveside service will be held on June 14, at 10 a.m., at the Machpelah cemetery in Weston with Reverend Jonathan Nettles officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bendale United Methodist Church, 1163 US Highway 19S, Weston, WV 26452, or St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 120 East 3rd St., Weston, WV 26452.
Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston is in charge of arrangements for Sara Blair Piercy.

Thomas George Stout
Thomas George Stout, 59, of Mt. Clare, passed away on April 23, 2008, as a result of a tractor accident, at his residence.
He was born in Clarksburg, on September 3, 1948, a son of the late Howard Vane and Martha Elaine Rogers Stout.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine L. Paugh Stout, whom he married on April 26, 2000. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas A. Stout and his wife Carmen of Defiance, Ohio, and Robert Vane Stout of Lost Creek; three daughters, Tricia Ann Jerden and her husband Steve of Weston, Misty Dawn White and her husband Shaun of Mt. Clare, and Heather Ann Kennedy of Fairmont,; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one stepdaughter, Tammy Valentine of Farmington; one sister, Sue Morris of China Grove, N.C.; one brother, Charles Conley of Wooster, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Helen and Eugene McCarty of Weston.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stout was preceded in death by two infant twin daughters.
He was the promoter and owner of Pyramid Valley Raceway, one of the oldest “outlaw” tracks in W.Va. which opened in 1976. Tom was featured in the National Magazine, Racer X, and at that time the race track was rated one of the top ten in the eastern United States by the American Motorcycle Association. Tom loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. His love for people was expressed by helping all people whether at the race track or plowing the neighbor’s garden or snow during the winter time.
He was a good hearted man who never met a stranger. Those who knew him will never forget him. He never lived by the clock and enjoyed the outdoors especially at night. His favorite Bible passage was Proverbs, Chapter 3, Verses 4, 5 and 6.
Affectionately known as the “Ole Tractor Man”, he died doing what he loved. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.
Family and friends were received at the Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg, on Friday, April 25, from 3 to 8 p.m., where funeral services were held on Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m. with Elder Larry Hathaway presiding. Interment was in the Stout cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.mem.com.

Bridget Nicole Taylor
Bridget Nicole Taylor, 28, formerly of Somerset, Ky., died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins, following an extended illness.
She was born November 4, 1979, in New Castle, Ind., a daughter of Ralph Taylor, Jr. of Somerset, Ky., and the late Toni Lynn Hampton Taylor.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandfather, James McCauley.
She is survived by one daughter, Toni McCauley of Weston; one son, Bradley; one brother, Patrick Aaron Taylor of Somerset, Ky.; and grandmother, Linda McCauley of Weston.
Bridget was Protestant by faith.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Reverend Jimmie Joe Johnson officiating.

Annadale Bennett
Annadale "Dale" Bennett, 84 of Huntington, peacefully passed away on Sept.3, 2008, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
She was born in Charleston, the daughter of the late Lester R. and Mary K. Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth L. Bennett.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Bennett-Muth and James Muth of Isle of Capri, Fla., and Steven Dale Bennett and Tammy Bennett of Ona; two grandchildren, Shaina Bennett-Muth of Isle of Capri, Fla., and Chase Bennett of Ona; one half brother, Lester D. Bennett of Remington, Va.; one cousin who
was more of a sister, Emmadale Strader of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated from the Walkersville high School class of 1943 and worked in Washington, D.C. prior to her marriage in 1945. She retired from Stone and Thomas Department Store in Huntington, and was a member of Huntington Chapter #8 OES whose members will conduct services on Monday at 1:30 pm at the Reger Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Sept. 8, at 2:00 pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Luana Cook-Scott. Burial followed at the Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington.
Friends were received from 11 am until service time Monday at the Reger Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the Hospice House for their care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice house, 3100 Staunton Rd., Huntington, WV 25702.

Homer Lee Crites
Homer Lee Crites, 74, of Weston, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following a brief illness.
He was born October 10, 1933, in Sutton,a son of the late Mike Crites and Mamie Keener Crites.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Crites and Walter Crites; and one sister, Catherine Ransdale.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Crites, whom he married on November 15, 1969; a son, Michael Crites of Weston; two grandchildren, Colin Crites and Megan Crites both of Weston; three sisters, Gladys Montgomery of Stow, OH, Marilyn Nagle and Mary Miller both of Akron, OH; one brother, Bennie Crites of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Homer was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He was a coal truck driver until he retired. He loved horses and was a great horseman.
His laughter and smile will be greatly missed by those that knew him.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, September 5, at Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Avenue, Weston. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmie Joe Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Weston.
