Charles Callahan Jr.
Charles Callahan Jr., 79, of Weston, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following a brief illness.
He was born April 19, 1929, in Plymouth, Pa., the son of the late Charles Callahan Sr. and Elizabeth Muntz Callahan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Leavitt Callahan; a son, Charles W. Callahan of Buckhannon; two daughters, Bonnie Lynn Grogg and Catherine Lola Callahan both of Weston; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister.
Charles retired from the Weston State Hospital, with 28 years of service as a meatcutter.
Friends were received Friday, October 10, at Boyle Funeral Home, Weston. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Weston.

Michael Scott Finster
Michael Scott "Scotty" Finster, 26, of 347 Indian Fork Road, Orlando, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008, following a sudden illness.
He was born in Clarksburg on July 22, 1982; son of Eugene F. Finster and Luwanna (Riffle) Finster.
On May 24, 2003, he married Angela M. (Alkire) Finster, who survives.
Also surviving is one brother, Timothy Bryan Finster of Orlando.
Scotty was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Hetty Finster; and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Lois Riffle.
Mr. Finster was a manager for the Weston Wendy's. He attended the Victory Assembly of God of Weston. Scotty enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and football and loved people.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Tuesday, October 14. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will follow services at the Mitchell cemetery of Roanoke.

Winnie L. Frye
Winnie L. Messenger Frye, age 90, of Linn, departed this life at 7:10 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, at her residence, following an unexpected illness.
Born August 28, 1918, in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Albert and Rosalie Richards Messenger.
Mrs. Frye was a homemaker and member of the Upper Ellis Church.
Winnie was united in marriage to James R “Steve” Frye on July 30, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1997.
Surviving is one son and twin daughters: Steve C. Frye and wife Rose Ann of Linn, Sarah Smarr of Weston, and Rosie Smarr and husband Ronnie of Linn; and one brother, Lester Messenger of Linn. She is also survived by four grandchildren : Jay (Paula) Smarr, Rick (Joann) Smarr, Brian (Cheryl) Frye, and Melissa (Michael) Frye-DeJarnette; 13 great-grandchildren: Brittany Miller, Kelly Powell, Lindsey Smarr, Ryan Smarr, Stephanie Parker, Marcus Dennison, Spencer Sartin, Chantrice, Quenton and Walter Smarr, Dylan and Connor Frye, and Dalton DeJarnette.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Virgil, Argil, and Everett Messenger; and three sisters: Nella Collins, Stella Lowther, and Gladys Messenger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, at Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville, with Rev. Alan Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiney cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday October 15, at the mortuary.

Ralph L. Sinnett, Sr.
Ralph J. Sinnett, Sr. formerly of Life’s Run died October 8, 2008 in Akron, Ohio. He was born September 5, 1927. He was employed by West Virginia Glass until 1968 when he and his family moved to Akron. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and from Pinkerton Security Co.
Proceeded in death by his wife Hazel of 61 years on June 30, 2008; parents John and Audree Sinnett; brothers John Jr., Darrel and Virgil Sinnett; he is survived by daughter Sharon (Tom) and sons Robert (Patti), Budd (Becky) and John Michael; brother Gerald Shirley) and sister Mary (Tony), grandchildren Missy, Shelley, Jim, Ivan, Randy, Audree, David, Joe and Gary; and a host of family and friends.
A service will be held Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Donovan Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, OH 44278 (330)633-3350.
Burial will be at Forrest Lawn in Weston on Tuesday, October 14, at 10am.
Donations may be made to In-House Hospice Solutions, 8536 Crow Dr., Macedonia, OH 44056 in his name.

Donna Starr
Donna (Skidmore) Starr, formerly of Weston, passed away October 1, 2008, in the Huntville Hospital of Alabama. She was 43 years old.
She was born August 17, 1965, in Ravenna, Ohio, to Karen (Skidmore) Hinkle and the late Orville Gene Skidmore. She is also survived by her step-father, Glenn Hinkle who resides in Buckhannon.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Harvey "Randy" Starr. She also leaves behind two loving daughters, Jessica Dawn, age 17, and Ashley Maire, age 10, both of Decatur, Alabama. She is also survived by two sisters whom she loved very much, Brenda Sue Turner and her husband Dave of Jane Lew, and Toni Diane Hoce and her husband Rob of Parkersburg. She also leaves behind two nieces, Faithen Maire Burkhammer of Athens and Shannon Curtis of Weston. Also surviving is her paternal grandfather, Niel Kile of Windham, Ohio. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her very much.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Cora Ella England Kile Ocheltree and her paternal grandparents, Grandville and Jessie Skidmore.
Services were held at the Shelton Funeral Home. She was laid to rest at the East Lawrence Memorial Gardens on Oct. 4, 2008, in Decatur, Alabama.

William Walter Ward
William Walter (Bill) Ward, 79, of 275 Circle Heights Road, Weston, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, following an extended illness.
He was born February 23, 1929, in Weston, a son of the late Anna Mary Peterson Ward and Martin C. Ward.
On June 28, 1950, he married Margaret Hila (Peggy) Kenner, who survives; also surviving, a daughter, Peggy Jo Parks and husband Allen of Weston; and grandsons, William Joe (B.J.) Parks and fiancé Angela Wamsley of Buckhannon, and Allen (Wade) Parks of Richmond, Indiana.
Bill had been a salesman for most of his life, working for Andrews Motor, Smith Chevrolet and R.D. Wilson Paper Co.
He retired from the Lewis County Commission and Farmers Mutual Insurance Co.
After retirement, he and his wife, Peg, owned and operated Bill Ward Motor Sales on Circle Heights Road in Weston.
In the 1950’s, Bill drove stock cars at many tracks around West Virginia and surrounding states. He loved to hunt, fish and camp, but most of all to play golf with his wife and friends. He and his daughter shared a passion for showing horses.
He belonged to Weston Lodge #10, A.F. & A.M., St. Johns Commandery #008 Knights Templar of Weston, Lewis County Shrine Club, Nemesis Shrine of Parkersburg, WV, and Weston Moose Lodge #1376.
Bill attended and was a member of the Stone Coal Methodist Church.
Friends were received Sunday, October 12, at Boyle Funeral Home, Weston. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Verl Simmons officiating. Interment followed in Weston Masonic cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Stone Coal Methodist Church, attention, Mary Ann Swisher.

Tara Sue West
Tara Sue West, 27, of West Milford, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, as the result of a vehicle accident.
She was born September 16, 1981, in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Tara was a graduate of South Harrison High School and Fairmont State University.
She is survived by her mother, Melissa S. West, stepfather, Terry Rogers, and two sisters, Trista West and Tabitha West, all of West Milford; her father, Dennis West; stepmother, Vickie Bailey West; three stepbrothers, Kyle, Tyler and Ryan, all of Ft. Benning, Georgia; half brother, Dakota West of Houston, Texas; her maternal grandparents, James F. and Alice L. Rogers of West Milford; paternal grandparents, Arnold and Carol West of Houston, Texas; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tara was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, sister, and a friend who was loved by all. She was a brilliant young woman who loved music, dancing, tailgating and WVU games, traveling, the beach, Kennywood, horses and especially animals. She participated in cheerleading, soccer, track and attended Rhododendron Girls State while in high school. Tara was on the dean’s list while acquiring her B.S. degree in criminal justice at FSU. She enjoyed life with her family and friends to the fullest.
Family and friends were received Saturday, October 11, at Morris Funeral Home in Jane Lew, where services were held at noon on Sunday, October 12. Interment followed at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Quiet Dell. Rev. William L. Coffindaffer officiated.

John R. Williams
John R. Williams, 72, of Alum Bridge, died Monday, October 6, 2008, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following a brief illness.
He was born May 15, 1936, in Linn, a son of the late Scott Williams and Blanche Oweta Shackleford Williams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ray A. Williams; two half-brothers, Hayward Williams and Dale Hefner; and two half-sisters, Zelma Spohn and Virginia Kerns.
He is survived by three sisters, Mary Jo Williams and Betty Jean Williams, both of Alum Bridge, and Marie Swiger of Weston; three brothers, James B. Williams and Otha C. Williams, both of Alum Bridge, and Junior Williams of Linn; and several nieces and nephews.
John loved the outdoors, and was a farmer his entire life.
Friends were received Thursday, October 9, at Floyd Funeral Home, Weston. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, at the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmie Joe Johnson officiating.
Interment followed in the Hiney Hill cemetery, Gilmer County.

Daniel M. Adolt
Daniel M. Adolt, 79, of Harrisburg passed away Wednesday December 3, 2008, at the Manor at Susquehanna Village.
Born December 15, 1928 in Weston, he was the son of the late Max and May Hyre Adolt.
He was a 1946 graduate of Weston High School and went on to serve as both manager and later vice-president of Harrisburg News Company. A Korean Conflict Air Force Veteran, Daniel was a member of Colonial Country Club for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Lee Adolt; his daughter, Lee Adolt; and sister Betty James.
Surviving are his daughter Tamalyn and husband James Malpezzi of Halifax; 2 granddaughters, Danielle and husband Daniel Keys, and Sarah Malpezzi; 2 brothers, Sam Adolt of Huntington Beach, Calif., Bob Adolt of Hudson, N.H.; a sister, Sue Davis of Princeton, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. December 13th at Halifax United Methodist Church with a visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15th in Mechanicsburg cemetery. Pauline M. Daugherty
Pauline M. Daugherty, 93, of Hacker's Creek Road, Jane Lew, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, in United Hospital Center of Clarksburg, following an extended illness.
She was born in Alexander, WV, on May 11, 1915; daughter of the late Richard Thomas Brooks and Landonna Belle (Curry) Brooks.
She was married to Dallas John Daugherty, who preceded her in death on November 17, 1958.
Mrs. Daugherty is survived by six children, Richard Lee Daugherty of Cool Water, Roland Brooks Daugherty and William Neal Daugherty, both of the Berlin community, David Nicholas Daugherty of Lost Creek, Thomas Gary Daugherty of Clarksburg and Mary Margaret Davis of Berlin community. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Daugherty and Kathleen Kolb; four brothers, Ilow (Ike) Brooks, Robert Brooks, John Brooks and Thomas Gale Brooks; and three sisters, Mary Doris Gaston, Hazel Houchin and Iris Warren.
Mrs. Daugherty was a homemaker and an active farmer. She was a Methodist.
Friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Saturday, Dec. 6. Funeral services were held on Sunday at 12 noon from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Ron Hill officiating. Interment followed services in the Friendship IOOF cemetery of the Berlin community.

Evalene Flo Keesecker
Evalene Flo (Lowther) Keesecker, 88, of 1172 Vadis Road, Alum Bridge, passed away at 8:34 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Gilmer County on April 19, 1920; daughter of the late Robert Flarnt Lowther and Martha Ann (Keller) Lowther.
On May 8, 1941, she married Lee Jake Keesecker, who preceded her in death on June 22, 1995.
Mrs. Keesecker is survived by four children, Karen Shackleford and husband Wilbert and Wanda Radcliff and husband Hoy, both of Linn, Burl Keesecker and wife Karen of Glenville and Merle Shackleford and husband Jesse of Alum Bridge. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Wanda Tomblin and Wendell, West Shackleford and Michelle, Rob Radcliff and Kelly, Susan Keith and Jeff, Jesse A. Shackleford and Amber, and Judy Cook and Travis; and one step grandson, Kenny McWhirter and Kristi. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Amber, West, Ashley, Elainia and Alan Shackleford, Roberta and William Radcliff, Kathern Keith, Chasity Hicks, Cassie Cook and Ryan and Dylan Tomblin; and one step great-grandchild, Keely McWhirter. Mrs. Keesecker is also survived by one special niece and caretaker, Juanita and Russell King and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Keesecker was a cook at the Vadis School. She was a member of the Vadis Fire Department Auxiliary of Vadis.
Friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Friday, December 5. Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Alan Neal officiating. Interment followed services in the Hiney cemetery of Gilmer County.

Thelma Marie Kerns
Thelma Marie Glover Kerns, 84, formerly of Charleston, died on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, in Centreville, Va.
She was born on June 14, 1924, in Marion County, and was a daughter of the late William Spencer and Grace Bradley Glover.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred Grover Kerns, on May 26, 2008; one son, Fred Michael Kerns; brothers, William Spencer Glover Jr., Jerry Allen Glover and Dale Gover; and sister, JoAnne Glover.
She is survived by three sons, Terry Kerns of Centreville, Alan Kerns of New York, N.Y., and Stephen Kerns of Elkins; four grandchildren; two brothers, David Jack Glover of Clarksburg and James Scott Glover of Weston; two sisters, Ruth Glover Garrett of Bridgeport and Barbara Glover Forinash of Weston.
She was active in 4-H and the Methodist church for many years and was a lifelong avid gardener.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home, at 11 a.m., in Grafton. Interment in Weston Masonic cemetery, Weston.
