James E. Hitt
James E. Hitt, 72, of 467 U.S. Highway 19 North, Weston, passed away on May 6, 2011, in the Thomas Memorial Hospital, Charleston following a brief illness.
He was born on April 9, 1939; son of the late James E. “Red” Hitt and Zeula (Strader) Hitt.
On April 30, 1956, he married Evelyn Joann (Nicholson) Hitt who preceded him in death January of 2001.
On January 16, 2004 he married Sharon K. (Bright) Hitt who still survives.
In addition to his parents and first wife Mr. Hitt was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Ellis.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hitt is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Darlene Malson and (Tim) of Jane Lew; and two sons, James E “Jimmy Joe” Hitt and (Lori) and Timothy Neil Hitt and (Becky) both of Jane Lew; and one step-son, Rob Riddle. Mr. Hitt is also survived by six grandchildren, Joby Swiger, Brooke Hitt Short, Tyler Hitt, Cortney Hitt, Lauren Malson, Christian Hitt; and step grandchildren, Arwen Palmer, Molly Dublin, Luke Dublin, Samantha Riddle, Alexis Riddle; and one great-grandchild, Paelyn N. Short; and step great-grandchildren, Austin Springer and Keirstyn Palmer. Also surviving is one sister, Connie Wilfong; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hitt was a member Victory Assembly of God of Weston and owner and operator of J.E. Hitt Garage. Mr. Hitt enjoyed racing, camping, hunting, and fishing.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, 730 North Main Avenue Weston, on Tuesday, May 10, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 11, at 11:00 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will follow services in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew.

William Jewell III
William Ramsey Jewell III, 71, died on Monday, April 25, 2011, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1939, in Weston, the son of the late William Ramsey Jewell II and Virginia Summers Jewell of Crestview Manor, Jane Lew.
He is survived by two daughters, Delesa (Mike) Haught of Weston and Christina (Bob) Booker of Cross Lanes. He has six grandchildren. He married Waneta Carr and had three stepchildren, Brenda Browning, Charles Clifton, and Steve Clifton; and seven step grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Minnie Jewell, and his maternal grandparents, Creed and Dona Summers.
He grew up farming on Skin Creek in Lewis County and was active in cattle associations and various farming activities.
He later worked in the oil and gas industry and retired as a woodworker.
Davis-Weaver Funeral Home of Clarksburg was in charge of arrangements with Rev. Richard VanHorn officiating. Burial was in Broad Run cemetery at Jane Lew.

Juanita Lamb
Juanita Lamb, 74, of Jane Lew, died Monday, May 9, 2011, at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, following a brief illness.
She was born July 6, 1936, in Weston, a daughter of the late Jeffrey Carter and Mabel Carter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her foster parents, Doy and Ada Talbott; husband, Orval Lee Lamb on December 25, 2010; one son, Gary Lee Lamb; one daughter, Lois Marie Lamb; one son-in-law, Donald Cress; and one grandson, Kyle Lee Cress.
She is survived by three daughters, Pattie Cress of Horner, Kathy Smith and husband Harold of Jane Lew, and Kim Oxley and husband Allen of Thornville, Ohio; one sister, Jackie Davis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Christopher R. Franklin, Sean G. Cress, Michael B. Franklin, Gary L. Lamb, Robert M. Smith, Taylor Oxley and Alexis Oxley; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Gerald Lamb of Jane Lew, Jack Lamb and wife Geneva of Alum Bridge, and Bill Lamb and wife Carolyn of Alum Bridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Juanita had worked as a carrier at the Jane Lew Glass Factory.
She was Christian by faith.
She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family.
She liked playing bingo, quilting and listening to country music.
She always wore a smile to share with those around her.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Avenue Weston. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steven Bush officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Grove cemetery, Linn.

Frances Elizabeth Lane
Frances Elizabeth “Betty” Lane, age 84 of Ireland, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born December 27, 1926, in Ireland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Virginia Bennett Cunningham; her husband of 55 years, Virgil L. Lane, whom she married on June 15, 1946, and he passed away on May 10, 2001; two sisters, Becky Smith and Helen Cunningham; and one brother, Robert Cunningham.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth A. Wills and husband David of Parkersburg, Patricia Richmond and husband Alan of Craigsville; six grandchildren, Ginger Wills, Nikki Lambiotte, Brandi Dillard, Michael Fidler, Whitney Richmond and Caity Richmond; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lane graduated in 1945 from Walkersville High School and was a member of the Shamrock CEOS Club of Ireland and the Ireland United Methodist Church. From 1947 to 1987 she lived in Richwood, where she is a member of Order of Eastern Star and was a former employee at the Rubber Fabricators.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 11, at the Alkire Funeral Chapel in Ireland, where services will be held at noon on Thursday, May 12, with the Rev. Dave Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the McCutchan Chapel cemetery.

D. Elaine Post
D. Elaine Zillifro Post died at the age of 86, after complications from Alzheimer's on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Salem Care and Rehabilitation Center, Salem.
She was born March 12, 1925, at Valley Chapel, Lewis County; the daughter of Egbert L. Zillifro and Naomi Dell Hitt.
She was the wife of Orian Austin Post (d. 2001), and the mother of Burl L. Post and Susan L. Post Carr (d. 2006).
She was also preceded in death by her brother, William (Bill) Zillifro.
Also surviving are Patricia Post, wife of Burl Post; James E. Carr, husband of Susan Carr; and grandchildren, Isaac, Shawn, Alex, Ben, Angela, Gloria Post; James F. and Sarah E. Carr; one great-grandson, Orian A. Post. Nieces and nephews include Ron L. McFarlane, Keith, Lynn and Cynthia Zillifro.
Elaine attended the Harrison County Schools: Morgan, Central Junior High and graduated from Washington Irving High School. She graduated from Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Elkins, and nursed 42 years in different fields. She resided on the Post family farm, Sycamore Road, until 2002 when she moved back to the "city" of Clarksburg and enjoyed traveling with the senior citizens and attended the Clarksburg Baptist Church where many of her friends attended.
After moving to Harmony Village, Sun Valley Road, she attended church with her family at her home church, Sycamore United Methodist Church, until she was no longer able to travel.
The family would like to thank Serenity Hope Assisted Living Home and the Salem Care and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care Elaine received during her illness.
Friends were received at the Morris Funeral Home Tuesday, May 10, from 10 a.m. till 12 p.m., at which time the funeral began. Officiating the service was Rev. Audria Botkin and burial followed in the Broad Run cemetery.

Wanda V. Southern Law
Wanda V. Southern Law, age 99, of Rt. 2 Jane Lew, Good Hope Community, departed this life on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.
She was born in Good Hope on May 7, 1912, a daughter of the late Samuel R. and Lula Maude (Flowers) Southern.
Her husband, Berna S. Law, whom she married on July 25, 1930, preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1991.
Until his death they had maintained a farm raising registered Hereford beef, dairy cattle and registered sheep.
Mrs. Law was a life long member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church
in Good Hope for 86 years since 1924. She sang in the choir, served as assistant choir director for many years and held other offices in the church.
Other memberships are the Good Hope CEOS (Extension Homemakers Club) since 1931, Four Fold Fighters 4-H Club for 60 years and served as leader, lifetime member of the 4-H All Stars, the West Milford-Good Hope Satellite of Harrison County Senior Citizens Organization, the West Milford-Good Hope String Band where she enjoyed playing the fiddle, piano, banjo and other musical instruments. Mrs. Law never had music lessons and could not read music.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family being preceded in
death by six brothers, Burl, Rush, Cline, Woodrow, Arnett and John Southern; and four sisters, Phala Walker, Freda Steele, Infant Wilma Southern and Anna Nutter.
Surviving are a son, William Scott Law and his wife Kathi, Painesville, Ohio; two daughters, Lulu Belle McDougal and her husband Richard and Delma Lea Rathbun and her husband David both of Good Hope; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Laura) Southern and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at the New Bethel United Methodist Church, Good Hope with the Rev. Jerry Boyce and the Rev. Robert Cole presiding. Mrs. Law will lie in state from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Good Hope Masonic cemetery.

memorials may be made to the New Bethel United Methodist Church,
Rt. 1 Box 157, Lost Creek, WV. 26385 or the WVU Foundation, Harrison County 4-H, P.O.Box 1650, Morgantown, WV 26507.

Pauline Hinzman Linger
Pauline Hinzman Linger, age 86, of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at her home.
She was born October 30, 1924, in Weston, a daughter of the late James Carl and Anna Mulcahy Hinzman.
On November 17, 1950, she married Eli Gail Linger who preceded her in death on May 12, 1987.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Thomas "Tommy" Hinzman and James Hinzman; and one sister, Mary Margaret "Peggy" McDonnell.
She is survived by two daughters, Elissa Mills and husband LTC Terry of Buckhannon and Mary Anna Oldaker and husband James R. of Weston; one grandson, Jeffrey Oldaker of Volga; one granddaughter, Deanna Lindsay and husband Cam of State College, Pa.; one great-grandson, A.J. Lindsay of State College; beloved dogs, Chiquita, Lucy, Lola and Max and other furry companions and a very special friend, Dr. Ali Khan whom she loved dearly.
A term of affection that had been given to her was the title of Strawberry Queen of 1947. She was a C & P Telephone Operator. In 1977 she started working for Guardian Food Services and was known as the hostess of Hardee's. She served as a volunteer for different groups and organizations.
In keeping with her wishes, her body will be donated to the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine at Lewisburg and also as per her request there will be no viewing, services and her ashes will be scattered at a later date.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Riverbend Golf Course in Buckhannon.

Edward Mullooly
Edward Mullooly, 70, of Saul's Run Weston, passed away on June 1, 2011, in Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Thomas Edward (but never went by his first name) in Weston on April 3, 1941; son of the late Joseph F. and Margaret M. "Peg" (Dolan) Mullooly.
On March 25, 1998, he married Lisa D. Mullooly, who survives.
Ed is also survived by one son, Thomas Edward (Dee) Mullooly, II of Masontown; daughter: Lisa Joette and husband Ezra Chambers of Hurricane; three step daughters whom he loved as his own: Heidi D. and husband Kevin Bennington of Bridgeport, Heather J. and husband Michael Cogar of Clarksburg and Anisa N. Dye and husband Jason Hale of Huntington. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Daniel Brison, Megan and Matt Mullooly, Chad Dye, Joey and Noah Cogar, Owen Bennington, Bella and Aiden Hale; one sister: Sara M. Maupin; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by one brother: Joseph F. Mullooly Jr. on March 11, 2009, and his mother-in-law: Thurmetta L. Dye on October 5, 2010.
Mr. Mullooly was self employed and worked in the oil and gas industry most of his life, and was also in the real estate business. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Weston, the WV Oil & Gas Association, Buckhannon Elks Lodge #1736, Weston Moose Lodge#1376 and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Ed was an avid Mountaineer Fan and spent many football seasons tailgating at Mountaineer Field with his family and dear friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren especially on those warm Summer days by the pool. Ed was an expert of the "finer things" in life and always enjoyed a good Crown Royal on the rocks. He also enjoyed his winter home and friends in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He was a wonderful, loving, and generous man and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Saturday, June 4, from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday, June 5, from 2-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. from St Patrick Catholic Church of Weston with Reverend J. Stephen Vallelonga as celebrant. Interment followed mass in the St. Bernard Catholic Church cemetery on Loveberry.
Full military honors were conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard. The Rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel.
