JoAnn Lambert
JoAnn Lambert, 53, of Rt. 2 Jane Lew, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away Oct. 7, 2011, at her residence.
She was born March 26, 1958, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank Korandovich and Margaret Kish Korandovich.
On August 15, 1979, she married David Lane Lambert in Camfield, Ohio, and was married for 32 years.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dana Lambert of Tennessee and Erica Lambert of Clarksburg; one grandson, Nathan Hardy of Clarksburg; one niece, Raelene Korandovich of Austintown, Ohio; and one brother, John Korandovich of Austintown, Ohio.
Mrs. Lambert has worked for Oil and Gas Petroleum Development of Bridgeport for 25 years, was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and loved her horses.
Friends were received at the Morris Funeral Home in Jane Lew, Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Bertha Rose Rose
Bertha Rose Rose, 78, of Buckhannon, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Buckhannon, following an extended illness.
She was born April 21, 1933, in Orlando, a daughter of the late James Albert Townsend and Violet Ann Blake Townsend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Townsend, Herbert Townsend and Danvel Townsend; and one sister, Martha Ann Townsend.
She is survived by one son, Larry Alexander Rose of Weston; three grandsons, Dustin Rose, Dillon Rose and Donovan Rose; one brother, Hubert James Townsend of Orlando; one sister, Ruby Mae Butcher of Brandywine; three nieces, Tammy True Eagle, Patty Ables and Tammy Kay Moore; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bertha was a homemaker and Baptist by faith.
Friends were received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Boyle Funeral Home, Weston. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randall Hughes officiating. Interment followed in Clover Fork cemetery, Orlando.

Lillie Corrine Scarff
Lillie Corrine Scarff, 59, of Orchard Street, Jane Lew, died at 12 noon Oct. 3, 2011, at the United Hospital Center.
She was born in Braxton County Feb. 28, 1952, a daughter of the late Dennis Clark Robison and Bertha Ann Cogar Robinson.
She was married Aug. 7, 1969, to Jackie Dale Scarff who survives on Orchard Street, Jane Lew.
She is survived by one son, Scottie Dale Scarff of Jane Lew; one daughter, Stephanie Scarff of Jane Lew; one sister, Peggy Ann Jones of Fairmont; and two grandchildren, Samantha Scarff of Jane Lew and Kristen Scarff of Fairmont.
One half-brother and one half-sister are deceased.
Mrs. Scarff was a loving wife, loving mother, grandmother and sister and a friend to all who knew her. A graduate of Lewis County High School and was a distribution clerk at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital for many years. She attended the Message of Light Tabernacle at Weston.
A memorial service will be held at the Morris Funeral Home of Jane Lew on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. with pastor Bob Hoover officiating. At her request, she will be cremated.

Rodney Mac Brown
Rodney Mac Brown, 63, of Ireland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, in Louis A. Johnson VA Center in Clarksburg after a long illness.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1948, a son of the late Hugh V. and Ercelyn S. Brown.
He was a Burnsville native and resident of Ireland for 15 years. He graduated from Burnsville High School and was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a very successful businessman in Burnsville from 1977 to 2001. He was a member of American Legion Post #200, VFW of Burnsville and the Sutton Moose.
He was a loving husband of 33 years to Donna J. Lake Brown; and caring father to his sons, Mac Travis of Ireland, Randall Scott Brown and his wife Christina of Dunbar. Also surviving are grandchildren, Gavin Leyton Brown and Ryan M. Smith; a very special niece, Melissa Blake; brothers, Steven D. Brown and wife Norma, Larry Joe Brown and wife Karen, Ronald Lee Brown and wife Tammy all of Burnsville.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Falls Mill cemetery at Falls Mill, with Rev. Chris Stout officiating. Military graveside rites provided by Lewis County Honor Guard. Friends were received on Monday evening at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral home in Flatwoods.

Donald Lee Conrad
Donald Lee Conrad, 55, of 716 cemetery Street Weston, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Lewis County on November 19, 1955; son of Virgil Harold Conrad and the late Ellen Ruth (Pumphrey) Conrad.
Mr. Conrad is survived by his companion, Daisy L. Conrad.
Mr. Conrad is also survived by five brothers, Wayne (Jackie) Conrad, Charles Conrad, Alvy Conrad and Jacky Conrad all of Roanoke and Earl Conrad of Jane Lew; two sisters, Edna (Melvin) Cutright of Weston and Milissa Conrad of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Conrad was a glass worker and also worked at T.A. Chapman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also loved being with family and friends.
Family and friends were received on Monday, Nov. 14, from noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mike Riffle officiating. Interment followed services in the Pumphrey cemetery, Lewis County.

Nancy L. Linger
Nancy L. Linger, age 91, of Buckhannon, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
She was born July 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Eldon and Helen Cline Nye.
On June 4, 1950, she married Aubrey Linger who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Gail Linger of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Janice Huffman of Buckhannon; one grandson, Jason Huffman also of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ethel Nye, who lovingly raised her after her mother's death; three brothers, Bud, Paul and Tom Nye; and two sisters, Dorothy Nye and Hetty Finster.
She was a homemaker.
Friends will be received Thursday, Nov. 17, from 5-8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral Home with Pastor Bobbie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at the Lorentz cemetery in Lorentz.

James Tom Lovett
James Tom Lovett, 61, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at home.
He was born on Oct, 4, 1950, in Elkins, and was raised in Weston.
On Oct. 5, 1981, he married Betty J. (Ellis) Lovett his devoted wife of 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa Cliff of South Carolina and husband Jeff, Belinda Smith and husband Walt of North Carolina. Also surviving are grandchildren, Josh Cliff, Jason Cliff both of South Carolina, Grant Shook, and Brandy Shook both of Paquason, Va.; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Shook, Lieyha Shook, and Liyla Shook. In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren Mr. Lovett is survived by two sisters, Elaine Cox and husband David of Ohio, and Carol Winningham and husband John of Tennessee.
Mr. Lovett was Methodist by faith and attended the United Methodist Temple Church in Clarksburg. He enjoyed working, NASCAR and Dale Earnhart, Sr. was his favorite driver.
Family received friends at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 11, at 11:30 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Frank Carson officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew.

Floyd Samuel Woodyard Jr.
Floyd Samuel Woodyard Jr., 74, of 814 McWhorter Rd. Jane Lew, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Lewis County on Smith's Run on April 27, 1937; son of the late Floyd Samuel Woodyard and Lottie Bell (Fisher) Woodyard.
Mr. Woodyard was married to Sharyl (Woofter) Woodyard, who survives.
He is also survived by his significant other, Vicki (Morgan) Huntington.
Mr. Woodyard is survived by three sons, Gary and Paul Woodyard of Dell, Texas, and "Alfie" Woodyard of Jane Lew; and two grandchildren, Jason and Karen L. Woodyard. He is also survived by extended family members, Angel and Jason Jarrett of Grafton and Ethan Snyder and Ginger Williams both of Weston.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by one sister, Lela Stewart.
Mr. Woodyard was a long haul truck driver. He also worked for Jane Lew Hot Shot. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator with the call letters:N5QGB and enjoyed attending Ham Fest where ever it was. He also loved fixing cars in the backyard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Clifford West officiating. Fellowship time will be Saturday from 5-7 p.m. A private interment will be in held in the Smith Run cemetery Weston, WV.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to People's Hospice P.O.Box 1680 Clarksburg, WV 26301.

Kermit L. Auvil
The Rev. Dr. Kermit L. Auvil, age 93, of Rt. # 2, Box 253 (Quiet Dell), Mt. Clare, went to serve with his Lord and Savior at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, from his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Philippi, Sept. 29, 1918, a son of the late William Quinter Auvil and Virginia C. Parker Auvil.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Freda Jewell Britton Auvil, whom he married Feb. 11, 1949; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary R. and Ellen Marie Auvil, Circle Dr., (Quiet Dell) Mt. Clare, Lyndon B. and Lonna S. Auvil, Clarksburg, and Randall L. and Phyllis Marie Auvil, Alderson;
a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Jean Auvil-Douglas and husband Stephen L. Douglas, Morgantown; a half-brother, Albert Auvil, Buckhannon; ten grandchildren, Kery Auvil, Joshua Auvil, Aaron Auvil, Christopher Auvil, Ashley Douglas, Clark Douglas, Logan Auvil, Lennon Auvil, Heather Fisher and husband, Jonah and Amber Ward and husband, Brian; and three great-grandchildren, KayLee Faith Auvil , Riley and Reese Fisher; and several nieces and nephews.
Kermit was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by five sisters, Lela Opal Auvil, Helen Stewart, Ada Violet Auvil, Dorlena A. Benson and Juanita Markley; and a brother, Kenneth James Auvil.
Kermit Auvil was a native of Barbour County, and a 1938 graduate of Philippi High School. He received his academic education from West Virginia Business College, Alderson-Broaddus College, West Virginia University, and LaSalle
Extension University Law School and he also attended Fairmont State College.
In addition to the aforementioned learning institutions, Mr. Auvil was a graduate of the Auto Diesel College, Nashville, Tenn., General Motors Technical School, Elkins, and the Automotive Technical School, Fort Riley, Kan., covering 1st. and 2nd. Echelon Maintenance.
Dr. Auvil was a graduate of the University of Hard Knocks, with an Honorary Doctor Degree in Business Administration bestowed upon him in June 1985, by the former Sen. Jennings Randolph and Jim Comstock, editor of the Hillbilly Magazine. This event took place on the campus of Alderson-Broaddus College.
Mr. Auvil was proud of having served his county in the U. S Army for 42 months during World War II, with 22 of those overseas. He received three Bronze Stars for his service while in the European Theater, being honorably discharged as a
Staff Sergeant. After returning from his military service, he spent 33 years in the insurance claims department with 16 years as claims manager for Ohio Farmers Insurance Companies. He also established the first field and claims office in central West Virginia for the Westfield Insurance Company, from two employees
to several before moving to the Saltwell location in Bridgeport.
Mr. Auvil was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge # 573, Clarksburg, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge # 10, Morgantown, the WV
Deputy Sheriffs Association, Clarksburg, the Gideons International, Nashville,
Tenn. In this organization he had served as secretary of the Clarksburg Camp # 4704.
He was also Area B Coordinator, which encompassed 18 counties and 12 camps.
After his retirement from Westfield Insurance Company in 1981, he served five churches in the Tallmansville charge for five years. He had also served as a volunteer Chaplain at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
Reverend Dr. Kermit L. Auvil was a member of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church, where he had served as Lay Leader, Certified Lay Speaker and as an Associate Pastor. Dr. Auvil was instrumental in the organization of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church's chartered United Methodist Men, serving as it's first president. On the West Virginia Conference level, Dr. Auvil represented the Parish Division on the Board of Global Ministries. His life was a witness to his Christian Faith.
Friends were received at the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening, where a funeral service was held on Monday, Dec. 12, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor George Bramble and Pastor Robert
King presiding. Interment followed in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with full Military Rites accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard.

Lillian Vale Cox Baker
Lillian Vale Cox Baker, age 95 of Letter Gap (Grass Run Community), departed this life at 11:13 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born August 14, 1916, in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Rev. F.H. and Clara Grace Cox.
Lillian was a member of the Glenville Rebekah Lodge, Weston V.F.W., she loved quilting and was a Baptist by faith.
On December 11, 1938, she was married to Lester Baker, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2007.
Surviving are: six children, Patricia Spencer of Weirton, Orval "Butch" Baker of Wintersville, Ohio, Beverly Lou Sprouse and husband Larry of Normantown, James Baker and wife Lenora of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Howard "Spike" Baker of Steubenville Ohio, Debra Hutchison and husband Gene of Centreville, Va. There are 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren surviving. One sister also survives, Marge Carpenter of Elyria, Ohio.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc, Glenville, with Pastor Mike Sprouse officiating. Burial was in the Cox cemetery. Friends were received Sunday at the mortuary.
