Stella Mae Stafford
Stella Mae Stafford, age 88, of Weston passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Crestview Nursing Home of Jane Lew, following an extended illness.
She was born in Pineville on May 27, 1925: daughter of the late Dewey Bailey and Dorothy Bailey.
She was married to Elmer Stafford, who preceded her in death in September of 1999.
Mrs. Stafford is survived by her children, Doris and Don Taylor of Montgomery Village, Md., Linda and James Hess of Summersville, Brenda Stafford of Weston, Judy and Bob Piercy of Weston and Bruce and Dawn Stafford of Weston; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one sister, Sue Hall of Brenton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and Elmer, Mrs. Stafford was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Summerelle; two sons, Harold and Charles Stafford; one brother, Donald Gene Bailey; and four sisters, Louise Lester, Edna Carver, Alice Morgan and June Wolfgang.
Mrs. Stafford was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Sunday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m., until 1:30 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 1:30 p.m., from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bob Hoover officiating. Interment followed services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew.

Leona Mae Allman
Leona Mae Allman, age 80, of 5856 US Hwy. 19 North, Jane Lew, was called home to be with the Lord, while surrounded by her loving family, at 6:20 p.m., on Thursday, January 30, 2014, in the Mon General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Dec. 31, 1933 in Weston: a daughter of the late Harry Scott and Azzlea Smith Beeson.
On Dec. 26, 1952 she married Robert Dale "Toby" Allman who survives. They celebrated 61-years of marriage together.
Her spirit will be carried on by her two sons, Bobby (Bonnie) Allman of Salem and Steve (Patty) Allman of Jane Lew; two daughters, Pamela (Dave) Honeycutt of Morgantown and Malissa (Jeff) White of Weston; one sister, Irene Wishem of Ohio; and nine grandchildren, Amber (Jeff) Wilson of Parkersburg, Sgt. Todd (Robin) Allman of White House, Tenn., Brian Allman of Jane Lew, Amy (Brad) Foster of Jane Lew, Kenny (Kacey) Honeycutt of Cross Junction, Va., Kevin (Holly) Honeycutt of Morgantown, Keith (Stephanie) Honeycutt of Rochester, Ny., Brandon and Justin White, both of Weston; eight great-grandchildren, Connor, Gunnar, Landon, Madison, Brayden, Brody, Bentley and Blake.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Willard Beeson and Forrest "Whitey" Beeson and two sisters, Wilma Cecil and Wilda Jean Eckle.
Leona was an active, faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Jane Lew, where she sang in the choir and served on several committees. She cherished all time spent with her family, whether camping, cooking out, shopping, attending the grandchildren's athletic events or just sitting around the kitchen table, together, enjoying the fellowship of family. Her family was her pride and joy.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew, Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 3 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bonnie Starkey and the Rev. Ronnie Beeson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Michael Charles Cain
Michael Charles Cain, age 67, of Rt. 1, Jane Lew passed away at 1:51 p.m. Thursday January 30, 2014 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 18, 1946 in Ohio: a son of the late Charles and Ruth Edna Baker Cain.
Surviving are one brother, Bernard "Butch" Cain; and one sister, Judith Cain Foster, both of Jane Lew; and his beloved dog, Susy II, who dearly misses him.
Mike was an honored veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp who served during Vietnam and received the Purple Heart Award. He retired from the plastic tubing industry with several years of service.
Mike enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and they fondly remember his roasts, stews and pasta. He was a model car enthusiast who also collected military memorabilia and listened to rock and roll and blues music. Friends and family speak fondly of Mike's kind and generous spirit and how proud he was to serve his country.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew, from 6-8 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 2.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m., at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Weston with Rev. Father Stephen Vallelonga as celebrant.
Interment followed in the WV National cemetery in Grafton. Full military honors were accorded by the U.S. Marine Corp and the Lewis County Honor Guard.

Michael Dale Garrett
Michael Dale Garrett, age 28, of Clarksburg passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 doing what he loved and lived for in the line of duty.
He was born Oct. 7, 1985 in Clarksburg: son of Dale Allen and Faith Marie Lake Garrett.
Michael is survived by his parents; one brother, Justin Michael (Ashley) Brady; three sisters, Julie Ann Freeman and companion John Carder, Anna Marie Roberts and companion Daniel Hebb, Katie Elizabeth Garrett and fiancé Chad Gorman; maternal grandparents, Joe and Nancy Casto Scardina; nieces and nephews, Jason Brady, Christian and Morgan Davis, Madison, Ethan, Skyler and Kaden Brady, Seth Garrett, Emma and Chase Roberts; two uncles, Sam (Pam) Scardina, and Tony Scardina and companion Tara Kester; numerous other great-aunts, uncles, cousins; extended family of Nutter Fort Fire Department; best friend, Aaron Cutright. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lelearnd Dale and Sara Catherine Swiger Garrett.
Michael attended South Harrison High School, Alderson-Broaddus College and was currently attending Fairmont State University where he was scheduled to graduate in May with an associate's degree in emergency services. He was currently employed at Grant Town EMS and Upshur County EMS as an EMT-I and as an instructor for RESA 7 at WVU. He began his EMS and firefighter career at the age-of-15 by attending the Junior EMS Camp at Harrison County EMS and at the age-of-16 as junior firefighter at Nutter Fort Fire Department. He was currently the treasurer and many things for the fire department. Michael became a first responder, an EMT-B and EMT-I. He was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church. His passion in life was helping others; he also had a great sense of humor and a smile for everyone. He has worked and helped many EMS and Fire Departments in the surrounding counties and even several states.
The family will receive friends at the Davis Funeral Home, Rt. 98, Clarksburg on Friday from 9 a.m.,- 9 p.m. Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be conducted at the Nathan Goff Armory, 5 Armory Rd, Clarksburg on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m., with Father Casey Mahone presiding. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Masonic cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Nutter Fort Volunteer Fire Dept. at 1415 Buckhannon Pike, Nutter Fort, WV 26301 in Memory of Michael. The donations will be used for future students who plan to pursue a career in Emergency Services.

Herbert Lynn Harris
Herbert Lynn "Herb" Harris, age 86, of Old Mill Road in Weston passed away at 7:10 p.m., on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, following an extended illness.
He was born in Weston on July 31, 1927: a son of the late Frank Harris and Stata Lucille Butcher Harris.
He is survived by one nephew, Richard Harris; two nieces, Bobbie Lytle and Donna Harris, all of Ohio; one uncle, Joe Butcher of Buckhannon; six cousins, Sallie Myers of Weston, Bill Butcher of Alexandria, Va., Marshall Butcher of Grove City, Ohio, Alice Byrd of Weston, Donna Cayton of Weston and David Butcher of Dunbar; and close friends, Marlene Cosner of Clarksburg, Mike and Carolyn Forinash of Chester, Va., Frank Cosner Jr., of Crystal Lake, Marlana Hausvater and Machelle Lopez both of Clarksburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Harris Jr., and Robert Harris; an infant sister; one niece, Becky Bator; and a close friend, Valjean Edinger.
Herb was a 1945 graduate of Weston High School and an honored veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He later graduated from West Virginia Business College with an accounting degree and retired from Consolidated Natural Gas with over 36-years of service as manager over general accounting. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Gee Lick United Methodist Church. He was a sports enthusiast who especially enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 4-8 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m., from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Furr and Rev. Kenny Kendall officiating.
Interment followed in the Broad Run cemetery.

Betty Jane (Atkins) Huntz,
Betty Jane (Atkins) Huntz, age 91, of 640 West Second Street of Weston passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Weston on Dec. 17, 1922: daughter of the late Charles E. Atkins and Mary Edith (Kent) Atkins.
On May 27, 1947 she married Joseph Peter Huntz, who preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1997.
Mrs. Huntz is survived by one daughter, Kathryn (Michael) Miller of Jane Lew; and three sons, Michael (Judy) Huntz, John (Sara) Huntz, all of Weston, and Steven (Sara Jane) Huntz of Lost Creek.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Samuel (Amy) Huntz, Adam Huntz, Brigetta Fisher, Zachary Huntz, Valerie (Joe) Jenkins, Seth Miller and Brett Michelle Miller; and four great-grandchildren, Mauren Fisher, Alexa Huntz, Eli and Jonah Huntz.
She is also survived by one sister, Virginia Butcher and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her almost human cat, Oscar.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joseph, Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Charles W. Atkins.
Mrs. Huntz graduated from Weston High School Class of 1940 and attended WV Wesleyan College until the bombing of Pearl Harbor. During the war, she worked in Akron, Ohio at the Goodyear Aircraft as a secretary to an Army contract engineer. After the war she came back to Weston to work as a claims taker for returning servicemen at the Unemployment Office for Braxton, Gilmer and Lewis Counties. In 2008 she compiled a book about Kennedy Station, a Hope Natural Gas Company community at Valley Chapel, where she had lived for 32-years.
Betty has enjoyed working with crafts and needlework and in later years working jig-saw puzzles and playing cards and board games with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Valley Chapel EUB Church and then at St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Growing up she was an active 4-H'er and leader and was a 50-year member of the Stonewall Extension Homemakers CEOS Club.
Family and friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, Feb. 3, from 4 - 8 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10:30 a.m., from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Joe Shreve officiating.
Interment followed services in the Weston Masonic cemetery.

Carolyn Lee Kemper
Carolyn Lee Kemper, age 78, of Camden passed away at 8:05 a.m., on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous journey with Alzheimer's Disease and chronic back problems.
She was born at home in Glenville on May 8, 1935: a daughter of the late Henderson Bill Wilson and Rachel Ivy Meadows Wilson.
On Oct. 30, 1953 she married James Hugh Kemper Jr., and they enjoyed 60-years of marriage.
She is also survived by three children, Danny (Shirley) Kemper of Washington, Pa., Deborah Garrett (Rex) Crislip of New Milton, and Elizabeth (Steve) Holden of Right Fork of Freeman's Creek; one brother, Harold "Kitty' (Jeannie) Wilson of Grantsville; one sister, Pauline Bennett " Polly" of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Erik (Tara) Kemper of Weston, Danielle Dire of Hickory, Pa., Ted (Jenny) Garrett of Rush Run, Michael (Diana) Garrett of Horse Run, Jill Garrett and fiancé, Adam Wolfe of Oakdale, Pa., Curtis (Angie) Holden of Pricetown, Abby Lee (Nathan) Brough of Salem, Ind., and Jason (Carrie) Crislip of Ravenswood; 17 great grandchildren, Josie, Cole, Seth, Jesse, Hunter, Marie, Joshua, Emma, J.W., Gabriella, Jensen, Carder, Camden, Hannah, Mollie, Wyatt and Ellie.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joshua Hugh Kemper and Mark Monroe Holden; five brothers, James Monroe, Ferrell, Kenneth Arland "Lit" and Arnett "Arnie" Wilson; and three sisters, Josephine Sims, Garnett Hartman and Flora Wilson.
Carolyn was a homemaker who enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, camping, riding 4-wheelers, deer hunting and canning. She especially loved to watch her families sporting events. She was a faithful member of the Camden United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School youth teacher, secretary and treasurer for many years. She was actively involved in various organizations including the Eastern Star Chapter 40, Rainbow Girls, Lewis County Farm Bureau and Extension Homemakers Club. She touched the lives of many Lewis County children through her involvement and leadership in the Camden Rockets 4-H Club.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 2-8 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 3. Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 4, with Rev. Paul Thompson and Rev. Martin Wine officiating.
Interment followed in the Freemansburg United Methodist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to People's Hospice of UHC at 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
