Garnet A. Bots
Garnet A. Bots, age 92, of Vens Run Road in Jane Lew, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness.
She was born in Lincoln County, on Nov. 11, 1922: a daughter of the late Eppie Lorenza Scites and Minnie Jane Dailey Scites.
On Jan. 23, 1954, she married Roy H. Yeager and they celebrated 10-years of marriage before his passing on Dec. 23, 1964. Then, on Oct. 2, 1978, she married Joseph M. Bots and they enjoyed 26-years of marriage before his passing on March 25, 2005.
Her generous and loving spirit will be carried on by her daughter, Linda (Leland) Freeman of Jane Lew; four grandchildren, Dwayne (Lisa) Freeman of Creston, Ohio, Pamela Holcomb of Lodi Ohio, Debra Nixon of Jane Lew and Melissa (Walter) England of Sullivan Ohio; 13 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan and Tiffany Freeman, Matthew (Riley), Todd and Kristen Warner, Justin, Freeman (Katherine), Benjamin Nixon, Jerod, Garrett, Carly and Lyndsy England; four great-great grandchildren, Emma Eckenfels, Daxton and Zane Freeman and Cade Warner; two step-great great-grandchildren, Alexa Riffel and Gabriella Klinect; one step-son, Douglas Bots of Washington, Oreg.; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends from Ohio and W.Va.
She quietly entered her journey to join family who had already gone to Heaven. In addition to her parents, she will be reunited with three brothers, Arnold, Earl and Freeman Scites; five sisters, Ermal, Arnie and Shirley Scites Johnson, Marie Scites Click and Zelma Scites McCoy.
She worked as a restaurant cook and as a skilled seamstress in factories during her young life. In later years, she was a loving and devoted homemaker who worked diligently to care for her family. She had an unwavering faith in God and was an Angel of Service who was always willing and volunteering to help those in need. She devoted countless hours tending to her garden and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. Mamaw's eyes would sparkle with unconditional love and adoration for the little ones in the family, who were the light of her life and her greatest treasure.
Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew, from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 7.
Funeral Services will follow at 12 noon from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Home Chapel with Pastor Ashby Titus officiating.
Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew.

Bettie Bayrean Brumley
Bettie Bayrean Brumley, age 89, of 134 South Main Avenue in Weston, passed gently into the arms of the Lord at 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, following a brief illness.
She was born in Lewis County on Sept. 10, 1925: a daughter of the late Sherman John Bean and Flora Jane Butcher Bean.
On Dec. 6, 1941, she married Ernest William Brumley Sr. and they celebrated 67-years of marriage before his passing on May 24, 2009.
Her loving, compassionate spirit will be carried on by her children, Randall R. Brumley of Bridgeport and Beverly Jean (Bob) Salisbury of Weston.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Eric (Tiffany) Brumley of Chesapeake Beach, Md., Shawn (Michelle) Brumley of Lothian, Md., Michelle (Jeff) Hagan of Chesapeake Beach, Md., and Chris (Amber) Heater of Jane Lew; four brothers, Bob Bean of Goldsboro, N.C., Herb Bean of Horner, Dick (Jean) Bean of Weston, and Jerry (Carol) Bean of Weston; one sister, Margaret Bodkin of Good Hope; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She quietly entered her last journey to join family who had already gone to heaven. In addition to her parents, she will be reunited with her daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Brumley; one son, Ernest William Brumley, Jr; three brothers, Bernard, Larry and Raymond Bean; and four sisters, Madalyn Harper, Ellen Cool, Maxine Harris and Patty Hicks.
She retired from the Weston State Hospital with over 15-years of service and was a member of the Horner United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Allan Shade Butler, 61, of Linn, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, 2015. He was born on Dec. 18, 1953, in N.C.: son of the late Shade and Frances (Kinlew) Butler. Allan is also preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Butler. Those left to honor his memory are sons, Erik Butler of Sandfork, and Zack Butler of Oviedo, Fla.; daughter, Beverly (Doug) McHenry of Sandfork; grandchildren, Cameron McHenry, Ava McHenry, Micah Butler, Noah Butler and Brittney, Jeffrey, and Ethyn Miller. Also surviving are brothers, Alex Butler of Chadbourn, Anthony Butler of Chadbourn, both of N.C. and Dennis Butler of Fla. Allan was a carpenter by trade. He was a free spirit and loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed classic rock music; his favorite band was Steppenwolf. He loved to grill out with family, loved to dance and always loved to have a good time. At Allan’s request, his body will be cremated. No visitation will be held at this time. Allan Shade Butler
Allan Shade Butler, 61, of Linn, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, 2015.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1953, in N.C.: son of the late Shade and Frances (Kinlew) Butler.
Allan is also preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Butler.
Those left to honor his memory are sons, Erik Butler of Sandfork, and Zack Butler of Oviedo, Fla.; daughter, Beverly (Doug) McHenry of Sandfork; grandchildren, Cameron McHenry, Ava McHenry, Micah Butler, Noah Butler and Brittney, Jeffrey, and Ethyn Miller.

Richard Karl Carder
Richard Karl "Dick" Carder of Mineral Wells left this place peacefully while at the Cleveland Clinic on Feb. 15, 2015 at the age of 68, due to septic shock.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1946 in Lewis County: son of the late Doy and Hazel (Cox) Carder.
He attended Weston High and was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1967-1969, including a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam, where he received several medals, including two Purple Hearts and walked point for seven-months with Company C 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry 9th Division. He continued service stateside as a drill instructor at Fort Jackson, S.C. and was discharged as a Sgt E-5.
He married Helen Cayton of Lewis County on June 25, 1966. He was a member of Ironworkers Local 787 of Parkersburg for 26-years, retiring prematurely due to serious health reasons.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Cayton) of 48-years; children, Shannon White (David) of Section, Ala., Dan (Hillarey) of Masontown and Becky Melrose (Dan) of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren, Cody, Shylah, Macy, Ben, Cayton, Shelby and Ashton; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Kadyn; and siblings, Ron (Sue), Don, Denny (Rose), Jim and Lois Holden, all of Lewis County and various nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Joe.
He was a member of the Southside Southern Baptist Church and loved fellowshipping with his church family. He enjoyed hunting, riding in his Rhino, woodwork, building anything, mechanic, farrier, barrel racing and worked very hard at whatever he did.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Pastor Paul Drake officiating.
Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service. Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 19, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg.

Margaret Jane Cooper
Margaret Jane Brown Cooper, age 96, of Court Avenue in Weston, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, following a stroke.
She was born in Weston on April 27, 1918: a daughter of the late David Edward Brown and Lulu Roe Brown.
On Sept. 3, 1960, she married Richard Jackson Cooper and they celebrated 44-years of marriage before his passing on March 3, 2004.
She is survived by one daughter, Jerry Fitzpatrick of Vadis Road; two grandchildren, Jane (Robert) Horn of McCanns Run, and Mark Fitzpatrick of Waldeck; great-grandson, Bobby Joe Horn; nephew, Glenn (Audrey) Brown of Weston, niece, Vicki Keefer of Ripley; great-nephews, Brent Keefer of Ripley and David Brown of Fla.; great-niece, Kerri Keefer of Lexington, Ky.; and Thomas Cooper, her beloved cat.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn Brown and Glenn Brown Sr.
Margaret graduated from Weston High School with the Class of 1937. She attended West Virginia Business College and Perry Business College and went on to work with her husband, R.J. Cooper, in their CPA Office in Weston, serving the community for over 40-years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, VFW 573 Ladies Auxiliary and past state president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW from 1975-1976.
Friends and family gathered to celebrate her long productive life at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew, from 12 - 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22.
Funeral Services followed at 2 p.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Father John Valentine officiating.
Interment followed in the Broad Run cemetery in Jane Lew.

Martha Ann Hiney
Martha Ann Hiney, age 96, of Hiney Hill Road in Linn, departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at the Genesis Health Care Center, Glenville, following an extended illness.
Born July 4, 1918, in Braxton County, Martha was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Elma Opal Spore Exline.
She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was always known as a sweet caring women and an amazing cook. Martha loved gardening, flowers, cooking, Bible study, spending time with family and friends and the hard work and pleasure of farm life.
On Aug. 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to Russell Hiney, who preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2002. They had 61 wonderful years together.
Surviving is one daughter, Lauretta Joan (Lawrence) Massey of Canton, Mich., and one grandson, Richard Lee Wagner and companion, Gary Moy, of Reseda, Calif.
She is also survived by one sister, Anna Mae Robinson of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Cora (Exline) Irby of Nutter Fort, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by one sister, Cora (Exline) Linger; three brothers, James, William and Eugene Exline; and two half-brothers, Grant and Edward Exline.
Funeral services were conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive in Glenville, on Tuesday, Feb. 24, with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating.
Burial followed in the Hiney cemetery on Hiney Hill Road in Linn; Friends and family called Monday night at the Mortuary.
Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is assisting the family of Martha Ann Hiney with arrangements.

Robert W. McCuthan
Robert W. McCuthan, age 87, of Louisville, Ky. passed away Feb. 11, 2015 at the Robley Rex Veterans Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born Feb. 12, 1927 in Lewis County: a son of the late Philip A and Opal Powers McCutchan. He was united in marriage on June 4, 1954 to Ada Fisher who preceded him in death.
He was a 50-year Mason of William G Bennett Lodge 46, Walkersville, and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Louisville, Ky. A Sergeant First Class Army veteran having served four-years and eight-months in Foreign Service.
Preceding him in death are his wife; parents; sister, Helen McWhorter of W.Va.; brother, Ben O. McCutchan of Canton, Ohio; and great-grandson, Jessie Fisher of Louisville, Ky.
Surviving are brother, William McCutchan of Canton, Ohio; daughter, Darlene Hadrabra; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren of Omaha, Neb.
Surviving in Kentucky are, Tressie Black; her three sons; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; two great-great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Internment of cremains will be held in the McCutchan cemetery at McCord Run Road at a later date.
