Born August 17, 1915, in Cumberland, Wisconsin, the youngest daughter of Olaf & Mary Louella (Moorehead) Lawson
She was raised and educated in Sundance, WY. She was a rural school teacher in the Gillette, WY area for many years after completing her normal training. Elva married Richard Phillip Harris (Phil) on May 17, 1936, in Gillette, WY. They ranched for several years in Wyola, MT, working for the Antler Land and Cattle Company. Later they bought the Murdock place near Lodge Grass, MT, where they raised registered Herefords. In 1968, they moved to the CX Ranch in Decker, MT. Later she owned and operated the Big Horn Motel in Dayton, WY, in the early 1980's. Mr. Harris died on August 5, 1992. In 1993, she moved to Green River, WY, where she was a resident of Green Rock Village. At the time of her death, she was a resident at the Sublette Retirement Center in Pinedale, WY, since October, 1999. She was active in the B.P.O.E. Does, B & PW, and the Cowbelles for many years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles V. Lawson, sister Audley Van Leuvan and grandson Steven M. Young.

Reta W. Irwin, 97, of Big Horn, WY, died Monday April 14, 2003 in Sheridan Manor.
Mrs. Irwin was born February 12, 1906 in McCook, NB to Fred M. and Roselena ( Smith) Baker. She moved with her family at the age of 6 to the Sheridan area and grew up and attended schools in Sheridan. After school she owned and ran the Wilson Dairy east of Big Horn on Kruse Creek for approximately 10 years until 1945.
In 1946, she married Clifford Irwin and they lived on Kruse Creek until 1956. Mrs. Irwin was a housekeeper and nanny for the Wallop family in Big Horn and Sheridan until her retirement in 1982.
Mrs. Irwin enjoyed hunting, fishing spending time with her family and taking care of family members
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cliff, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Mrs. Irwin is survived by 1 son, Riley Wilson of Harrison, MT; 1 daughter, Madonna Beeson of Big Horn, WY; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Irwin will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, April 18, 2003 in MT. Hope Cemetery, Big Horn, WY with the Rev. Raymond Clark officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Robert E. King, 53, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Robert was born on April 4, 1950, in Sheridan, Wyoming, the third of four sons to Don and Dorothy King. He was raised on the ranch along Prairie Dog, where he attended grade school at Woodland Park and graduated from Sheridan High School. During grade school, he participated in 4-H with horses and leatherwork. In high school, he was active with the Rodeo Club, working three events: calf roping, bulldogging, and team roping. After school hours, he began what was to be his life-long career of work in the family business, King's Saddlery.
He attended Sheridan College, and continued his rodeo activity in the college circuit. Following school, he became an intricate part of King's Saddlery. Bob took over as the head of the "Rope Department", and continued that work for his lifetime. It was his job to cater to all the ropers around the country and around the world. This was a job he was infinitely good at. In 1975, Bob married Deborah Haynes from Miles City, Montana. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Erin and Kristen, both of whom are currently living at home. He especially enjoyed watching his daughters play basketball and rodeo. Bobby will be remembered for his good nature, devotion to his family, his love of the outdoors, his quality and quantity of friends, and the battle he took on without a whimper of self-pity. May he now rest in peace.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his brother John Barry King. He is survived by his wife and daughters of Sheridan; his parents of Sheridan; his two brothers Bill and his wife Jean of Big Horn and their children Brian & Renee of Laramie, Wyoming and Hanna and Troy of Buffalo, Wyoming; Bruce and his wife Mary of Sheridan and their children Donnie and Ryan of West Palm Beach, Florida and Barry of Sheridan; and his niece and nephew, Megan and Tyler King of Sheridan..
Cremation has taken place in Sheridan, and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Sheridan College Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome with The Reverend David Duprey officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
The family has requested that memorials be made in Bobby's name to the Sheridan County High School Rodeo Club in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
Lawrence Everett Miller, 87, of Parkman, WY, died Thursday, April 24, 2003 in Sheridan Manor.
Mr. Miller was born September 23, 1915 in Dietz, WY to Charlie W. and Olive Mabel (Surena) Miller. The family moved to West Pass Creek when he was 1 year old where his parents had bought a homestead. Mr. Miller grew up on the family ranch on West Pass Creek and attended the Slack Creek School. He spent his entire life on the family ranch on West Pass Creek, semi-retiring approximately 10 years ago.
Mr. Miller married Margie Louise Endicott in Sheridan, WY on December 19, 1953.
Mr. Miller was a member of Sheridan Elk's Lodge # 520, of Sheridan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Margie, of Parkman, WY, 1 son, Everett, and wife Robin, of Parkman, WY; 4 daughters, Marilyn King of Eagle Point, OR; Karen Spaulding and husband Jeff, of Sheridan, WY; Nancy Gehm and husband Jim, of Rapid City, S.D.; Jeannie Crabtree and husband Ron, of Billings, MT; Peggy Peringer and husband Kim, of Billings, MT; 1 sister, Frances Seder, of Billings, MT; and 16 grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mr. Miller will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the Family Life Center, 118 W. 5th St., Sheridan, with Pastor Kent Bahruth officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Steven C. Nelson, 52, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2003 at the VA Medical Center.
Steve was born on January 24, 1951, to Rex and Vidy (Felsted) Nelson in Boise, Idaho. Following his school years, he entered the Navy, and served his country during the Vietnam War. After his discharge in 1970, Steve married Jeanette Golinueaux in Walnut Creek, California, and their union was blessed with three sons. The couple later moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, where Steve worked for many years as a Master Carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping, and he was a great story-teller.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 32 years; his three sons, Craig and his wife Sondra of Lovell, Wyoming, and Matt and his wife Misty and Adam, all of Blackfoot, Idaho; his grandson Jacob Nelson of Blackfoot, Idaho; his sister Crystal Lewis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his brother Clint Lexland of Blackfoot, Idaho.
Cremation has taken place in Sheridan, and memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Hill-Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot, Idaho. Inurnment of cremains will follow in the Thomas Cemetery, Thomas, Idaho. Kane Funeral Home handled the local arrangements.
Ida Irene Nussbacher, 84, of Big Horn, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Mrs. Nussbacher was born on September 10, 1918, in Kooi, Wyoming to Frank and Mary (Wojtyla) Boyko. Ida was married to Paul Nussbacher and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Lynda and Jean.
Ida enjoyed dancing, gardening, taking care of the wild animals around her home, cooking, listening to music, socializing with her many friends at dances, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and playing cards. She was a member of the Big Horn Mountain Polka Club, the Big Horn Women's Club, the Big Horn Historical Society, the Old Time Musicians, and BPO Does (Elks Lodge).
Mrs. Nussbacher was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Lynda Engdahl; her three sisters, Anna, Mary, and Frances; and her two brothers, George and John. Ida is survived by her longtime companion and friend, John Gentry of Big Horn; her daughter L. Jean Byrtus; her two brothers, Frank Boyko of Sheridan and Joe Boyko of Worland; her sister, Lois Etchechoury of Sheridan; her granddaughter Paula Gardner of Sheridan; her grandson Paul Engdahl; her grandson Alan Engdahl; her granddaughter Amy Engdahl all of Gillette; her granddaughter Gina Waters of Texas; and her nine great grandchildren.
A Rosary service will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 10:00 AM, at Holy Name Catholic Church with The Reverend Thomas Ogg officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
The family has requested that memorials in Ida's name be made in lieu of flowers to Holy Name School or the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, PO Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
Mary M. Regelin, 75, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2003, at her home in Sheridan.
Mary was born on July 31, 1927, in New Mexico, to Manuel and Magdalena (Misque) Munoz. She married Ron Regelin, their union was blessed with four children/ Mary and Ron later divorced. She was an excellent housekeeper and cook and loved to plant and crochet.
Mrs. Regelin was proceeded in death by her parents; Survivors included her three sons, Joe Avina of California, Jese Flores of California, and Robert Flores of Gillette; her daughter Sista Conner of Sheridan; her three brothers, Arthur Munor, Feliz Munoz and Junior Munoz; her five sister, Bertha Morgan, Sista Ramirea, Josie Baraza, Vivian Eredia, and Maggie Chacon, and her nine grandchildren/
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21st at 10am at Kane Funeral Home with the Reverand Thomas Ogg officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Joseph Robert "Bob" Smith, Jr., 63, of Story, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the Sheridan V.A. Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was born on June 22, 1939, in Beaumont, Texas, to Joseph and Alice (Mitchell) Smith. Following his graduation from high school, Bob entered the U.S. Air Force in 1961, serving his country until 1965, at which time he was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he obtained his Bachelor's degree, and He married Bettie Newbury in 2000 in Red Lodge, Montana, and the couple moved to Story. Having been an only child, he loved having lots of extended family with children and grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, reading, and fishing.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Bettie of Story; his children, Stacey Cramer and her husband John and Elizabeth Essinger and her husband Mark, Russell Hicks, Debora Waters and her husband Gail, Kathy Hanson, Teresa Hougardy and her husband Mark, and Melody Kalkwarf and her husband Craig; and his eleven grandchildren, Chris Waters, Faith Waters, Dustin Riveland, Rachelle Riveland, Amanda Hougardy, Matt Hougardy, Cory Hicks, Russ Hicks, Jr., Nathan Kalkwarf, Michael Kalkwarf, and Rusty Hicks.
Cremation has taken place in Sheridan. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2003, at the Story Women's Club. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Bob's name to the V. A. Medical Center in care of George Schafer, First National Bank, P.O. Box 400, Buffalo, WY 82834.
Cody Allen Warnke age 19 of Sheridan, WY
Died Sunday, April 13, 2003, in Sheridan
Born June 24, 1983, in Sheridan, WY
Parents - Randy and Tammy (Harper) Warnke
He grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School where he was a wrestler and an avid sports fan. After high school, he worked at KWN Construction. He was in the apprentice carpenter program and enjoyed his work. Cody enjoyed motorcycles, camping and being in the Big Horn Mountains.
Preceded in death by his grandfather Earl Harper.
