Kenneth R. Dunn - 02/13/02

Memorial services for Kenneth R. Dunn, 45, of Gillette will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Family Life Church with the Rev. Marty Crump officiating.

He died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born July 19, 1956, in Lusk to Donald and Margaret (Hourt) Dunn. He spent his childhood in Harrison, Neb., where he attended school.

After graduating from high school, he met Rita Teten and they were married on July 30, 1983, in Harrison, Neb.

After their marriage, they moved to Denver, where they lived for three years before coming to Gillette. In Gillette they started their family.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and attending his daughters' basketball games.

He worked for Intermountain Laboratories for the past 15 years.

Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife and daughters, Samantha Dunn and Jessica Dunn, all of Gillette; his parents of Harrison; a brother, Skip Dunn of Aurora, Colo.; and sisters, Peggy Dunn of Chadron, Neb., and Sandy Marsteller of Alliance, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; an uncle; nephew; and cousin.

A memorial has been established to benefit his daughters. Donations may be sent in care of Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 734, Gillette, WY 82717.

Peggy Crawford - 11/15/02

Memorial services for Margaret Ruth "Peggy" Crawford, 78, the mother of a Gillette woman, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 2000 W. Lakeway Road.

She has been cremated.

She died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Pioneer Manor.

Mrs. Crawford was born Jan. 21, 1924, to Carl L. and Jeanne (Anderson) Crawford in Sheridan.

After graduation from high school at the age of 16, she undertook various jobs from Lockheed in Burbank, Calif., Parker APP in New York City during World War II, and later at Standling O&G and True Drilling in Casper. She also worked for oral surgeons for many years; and then Rocky Mountain Forms in Denver; before returning to Story in 1979.

She lived many years in Story after returning to Sheridan County in 1979.

She was an avid duplicate bridge player and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren in Gillette.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by a son, David Carl Crawford of Laramie; two daughters, Cynthia Porter Stees of Gillette and Barbara Mertz of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three granddaughters.

Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donations may be made to Meals on Wheels in Sheridan. Cards and correspondence may be sent to Cyndie Stees, 2390 Wolff Road, Gillette, WY 82718.

Helen Harrod - 07/05/01

Funeral services for Helen Lucille (Sanburn)Harrod will be at 1 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Brodus, Mont.

Burial will follow in the family lot in the Valley View Cemetery in Brodus. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Presbyterian Church in Gillette. Visitation is at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harrod died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at the Campbell County Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Gillette on Sept. 22, 1932. to Ted and Elsie Wilson. Her mother later married Hugh Nathaniel "Buzz" Sanburn, who adopted Helen.

Her family lived on a homestead in Powder River County for a few years then they moved to Olmstead, where she attended Butte school.

Before the war, her family moved to Missouri and then to Washington, where she attended school at Mac Arthur Heights. After the war, they bought a ranch on Horse Creek near Wildcat.

On Dec. 31, 1952, she married Ronald Scott in Gillette, the couple had three children.

In May of 1976, she married Vic Harrod in Belle Fourche, S.D. The couple lived on the Harrod Ranch near Weston.

Mrs. Harrod was survived by her husband, Vic Harrod of Weston; two sons, Charlie Scott of Gillette and Bill Scott of Gillette; a daughter, Ronda Boller of Wright; her mother, Elsie Sanburn of Brodus, Mont.; two sisters, Billie Gatlin of Broadus and Cora Jane Robinson of East Wnatchee, Wash; a brother, Charles Sanburn of Forks, Wash., 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Sanburn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Powder River Manor or the Oncology Unit of the Campbell County Memorial Hospital, or the Northeast Wyoming Hospice. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Brodus, Mont., are in charge of arrangements.

sons, Glen McFarlin of Gillette and Tracy McFarlin of Chandler, Ariz.; his sister, Peggy Howell of Jasper, Ark.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian McFarlin.

Alice Ward - 02/13/02

Alice Irene Ward, 88, of Gillette died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.

She has donated her body to science to continue helping others.

A memorial will be at a later date.

She was born June 14, 1913, in Cedarvale, N.M., to Robert and Edith (Tonkinson) Hileman. She was the eldest of seven children.

She was always a caretaker of others, taking in her mother, elderly friends and relatives and caring for them in her home until they died.

At age 25, she married Forest V. Gibson and they had three children. They were later divorced. She then married Merle Marshall, who died after 1 1/2 years of marriage. In 1977, she married Edward Ward. They were married 9 1/2 years when he died of cancer.

She worked at Fort Bayard Veterans Hospital in Bayard, N.M., from 1968 to 1975, when she retired.

Her children moved her to Gillette from Colorado when her son was ready to retire, to be near her daughter and family so they could help care for her. She lived at Pioneer Manor for several years.

She is survived by one sister, Isabel Teague of Deming, N.M.; three children, Forest V. Gibson Jr. of Ingram, Texas, Edna I. Leger of Rozet, and Daniel Gibson of Washington; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Homer Hileman, Dan Hileman and Bobby Hileman; and two sisters, Ruth LaPrade and Della Lisk.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home Bus Fund or any charity of choice.
