Alfred “Ab” H. Talcott, 91, of Sheridan, WY, died Friday, July 11, 2003 in Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan.

Mr. Talcott was born on May 22, 1912, in Central Valley (Orange County), New York to August Belmont Talcott, Jr., and Marguerite Lena (Schick) Talcott. As a youth he painted houses, drove beer wagons, and worked at Eaton’s Ranch as a cook. He served in the U.S. Calvary in 1925, and during W.W. II helped construct CCC Camps.

Mr. Talcott married Grace J. O’Dell on September 26, 1936 in Hardin, MT. He was a house painter with his brothers in Sheridan for most of his life. He enjoyed his family, visiting friends and family, shopping for bargains, fished when he could and eating out. He had a reputation as being an avid hunter and fisherman and made sure he had pictures to prove that he had caught “the big one”. Mr. Talcott was a life time member of the Painters and
Drywall Finisher’s Union.

His parents, his wife, Grace, one son, a sister, and two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Talcott is survived by two daughters, Janet Rodgers, and Abbie Richardson and husband, Kerry; one brother, August (Aug) Talcott, all of Sheridan; one sister, Lorraine Brogna of Hemet, CA; 9 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.

Viewing for Mr. Talcott will be from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00A.M. Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Messianic Pastor Hale Harris of the Beth Ephraim Messianic Israel Congregation officiating. Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Talcott may be made to the “Ab” Talcott Memorial Fund, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P. O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801

Irene Walli, 72, of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Sheridan Manor.

Irene was born on January 7, 1931, in Automba, Minnesota, to Edward and Mary (Pikkarainen) Korpi. On July 13, 1993, she married Toivo Walli in Cromwell, Minnesota. Irene loved listening to music, dancing as well as being a musician herself. She also enjoyed visiting with people and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Walli was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Toivo of Cromwell, Minnesota; her two daughters, Linda I. Johnson and her husband Albert of Sheridan and Heidi L. Hassel and her husband Jeff of Wright, Minnesota; her two sisters Lempi Thompson and Marge Herbst; her brother Gene Korpi; and her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place in Sheridan and a private family memorial service will be held at North Branch Cemetery in Cromwell, Minnesota. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Jack Martin Woodard, 84, of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Jack was born on September 5, 1918, in Effingham, Kansas, to Jack Martin and Grace Edna (Bonnel) Woodard. On January 10, 1948, he married Anne Rita (Juroshek) at the Episcopal church in Sheridan. Their union was blessed with one daughter. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baking for friends. He had a love of horses and his two dogs. He was a life long member of the Elks.

Mr. Woodard was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; his brother Earl; and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Karen Woodard of Sheridan; several sister-in-law’s, brother-in-law’s, nieces, and nephews; and his two companions, Willy and Tuffy.

Visitation will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Monday, July 21, 2003 from 7:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 10:00a.m at Kane Funeral Home with The Reverend Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will follow in the Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family has requested that memorials be made in Jack’s name to the Elks Cemetery Fund in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Mary E. Adami age 84 of Sheridan, WY

Died Friday, August 22, 2003, in the Wyo. Medical Center, Casper, WY

Born November 18, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa

Parents – Fred & Mary (Ramsey) Welter

The family came to Sheridan when she was a young child. She grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan. She worked as a bookkeeper in California and Denver before moving to Chicago where she worked in a military factory. She married Malden McGill, Sr., about 1950. They lived in many places with the military. She returned to Sheridan in 1966. She worked for the Forest Service until owning and managing Big C Service and Supply in Casper, WY. While in Casper, she was received the Wyoming Business Woman of the Year award. She married Melvin Adami on October 5, 1979, in Story, WY. She retired in 1982. They moved to Rapid City, SD in 1986 and then returned to Sheridan in 1999. She attended First Christian Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling and dancing.

Preceded in death by two sisters Alice Lanting & Ruth Baker; half brother Gerald Lyons.

Memorial service will be 10:00am on Thursday (Aug. 28th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Cynthia “Cindi” Bomar age 51 of Sheridan, WY

Died Saturday, August 2, 2003, in the Big Horn Mountains

Born December 17, 1951, in Tacoma, Washington

Parents – Richard & Avis (Shaw) Clingenpeel

She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. She had pride in caring for the critically injured and sick patients. She worked from being a staff nurse to being a Director of Nursing in a long-term care facility to being an emergency service flight nurse. Cindi enjoyed the outdoors by participating in activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and gardening. She was an excellent seamstress, which produced many beautiful quilts among other sewing projects. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Robin A. Britton, 50 of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2003.

Robin was born on November 2, 1952, in Laramie, WY to Myron and Bette (Mole) Goddard. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Robin loved gardening, landscaping, flowers, art and animals of all kinds.

Mrs. Britton waws preceded in death by her father, Myron; her brother Steve Goddard; her grandparents, Robert and Irene Mold, Anna Goddard Lamb, and Granced Goddard; and three uncles. Survivors include her three daughters, Crystal E. Britton Reinking and her husband Todd of Grand junction, CO, Anussa D. Britton of Pheonix, AZ and Atussa D. Britton Dillard and her husband Bryan of Sheridan,; her five grandchildren, Justine Beeson, Ashley Beeson, Sidney Susan Reinking, Bridgette Dillard, and John Dillard; her two sisters, Barbara Goddard Ross of Sheridan and Bambi Goddard Propp of Red Lodge, MT; her tow brothers Bud Goddard of Sheridan and Blaine Goddard of Cheyenne, WY; and former son-in-law Roy Beason.

Srevices will be held Thrusday, August 28, 2003 at 3:00m with Pastor Ron Nelson oat Kand Funeral Home. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Dorothy Brown, 91, of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2003, at Sheridan Manor.

Dorothy was born on August 11, 1911, in Aurora, Illinois, to Albert and Minnie (Beckman) Albrecht. She arrived in Sheridan with her family on the train in 1915. She lived and worked at the Wagner School with schoolteacher Amelia Wagner, who taught her homemaking skills, and as a girl worked for various families in Sheridan. Dorothy also worked as a maid, babysitter, and cabin girl at the Bones Brothers Dude Ranch in Birney, Montana then later worked at the Western Coffee Shop in Sheridan. On May 11, 1940, she married Orville Lloyd Brown in Sheridan, WY. They raised their family on the Meade Creek and Bar 13 ranches. Their union was blessed with five children. Mrs. Brown cooked, gardened, and canned for her family and the ranch hands. The Browns also lived and worked at the Gallatin Dairy Ranch, Beckton and Soldier Creek and worked for the PK and Rice Wrench ranches. Dorothy was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday school and bible school. She helped clean the church as well as brought in fresh flowers from her garden. Mrs. Brown cleaned houses and babysat for numerous families in the community. She housesat and babysat for Homer Scott Jr and his wife Janet for many years. Dorothy enjoyed spending time and singing to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that lived close to her.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband Orville; her parents; her two sons, Kenneth Brown and Lawrence “Larry” Brown; her two granddaughters Darlyn Arbogast Roberts and Kathleen Brown Slaybaugh; her three sisters, Ruth Leis, Alma Falvo, and Gertrude Fraser; and her brother Harold Albrecht. Survivors include her son Ron Albreicht and his wife Joanne of Wynnewood, OK; her two daughters Barbara Arbogast and Sharon Foster both of Sheridan; her eleven grandchildren, twenty nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; her two sisters, Emma Fry of Sheridan and Esther Benton of Buffalo, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2003, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor William Heine officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family has requested that memorials be made in Dorothy’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, or Martin Luther Grammar School, or the Senior Center in care of Karen Green, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

John Burgess, 75, of, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2003, at the Sheridan VA Medical Center.

John was born on March 28, 1928, in Hardin. Montana, to George and Irene (Tulp) Burgess. He has been in the Sheridan area all his life, except for two years of military service. Upon returning to civilian life, John went to work for Mid Continient Oil Company. He later purchased the business and operated it for approximately thirty five years. On June 14, 1984 he married Gwendolyn Timm. John has served on the School Board, the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, the Sheridan Wyo Rodeo Board, and served as president of the Sheridan Rotary Club. John is also a life member of the Elks Lodge #520 and the Eagles Lodge #1186. He was also a member of the Master Mason Lodge #8, The Scottisch Rite Lodge, the Kalif Temple, the Moose Lodge #674, and the American Legion. He enjoyed the mountains, animals, snow machining, hunting, fishing, and tinkering aroudn with old cars.

Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his father, George, Survivors include his wife Gwen of Big Horn; his tow sons, Jerry Burgess and Dan Burgess both of Sheridan; his two daughters, Joyce Garris of Mt. View and Diane Cornthwaite of Kaycee; his stepson William Russell; his eight grandchildren; his mother Irene Burgess of Casper; two sisters Betty Shaffer and Georgia Lee Bitters, both of Sheridan and several aunts.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2003 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm , at Kane Funeral Home at 2:00pm with Deacon Joe Kristufek officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family has requested that memorials be made in John's name to the Sheridan Senior Center and the Cat and Dog Shelter in care of Karen Green, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007., Sheridan, WY 82801.
