James O. Abernethy
1923 - 2006
James O. Abernethy, 83, of Cheyenne died Sept. 26 in Cheyenne.
He was born March 10, 1923, in Rosston, Pa.
Mr. Abernethy has been a resident of Cheyenne for 45 years with prior residence in Akron, Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Navy as seaman first class during World War II.
Mr. Abernethy worked for Salt Creek Freightways for 20 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Lee Bieber of Cheyenne; and a brother, Charles Abernethy of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Abernethy was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Abernethy, whom he married Sept. 19, 1952, in Akron; his father, William Abernethy; his mother, Nellie Farnsworth; and a brother, John Abernethy.
The memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Tom Dimick officiating.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

James A. Rybolt
1926 - 2006
James Amos Rybolt, 80, of Wheatland died Oct. 2, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne.
He was born March 8, 1926, in Kenney, Ill., the son of Wilmah Ferne (Downey) and Henry C. Rybolt.
He was reared and educated in Illinois, graduating from Kenney High School.
He joined the United States Navy on Dec. 17, 1948, then served in the United States Marine Corps and then the United States Army, being discharged on Dec. 5, 1954, with the rank of first lieutenant.
He married Norma E. Hassell in Piedmont, Mo., on May 5, 1952. He was in the Reserves and worked as a motel manager in Memphis, Tenn., for seven years and other odd jobs until becoming employed with the United States Post Office. During his tenure with the postal system, he worked in Sioux Falls and then Rapid City, S.D., for 17 years. After his retirement on June 30, 1991, with a combination of 37 years in the military and civil service, he and his wife moved to Wheatland in 1992.
He was active with the Lion's Club in Casper, serving as a director with the Alan Stewart Lion's Camp for the blind; a member of the Assembly of God Church while in Rapid City; and attended First Christian Church in Wheatland. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, his grandchildren, reading, war movies, watching the news, and talking about his military career.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years of Wheatland; three children, James Gordon Rybolt of Denver, Linda Karen Sowers of Wheatland, and Carol Hassell Rybolt of Gaithersburg, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; three brothers; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Wheatland with Pastor Andy Gudahl officiating.
Interment with military graveside rites will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Sowers, Robert Sowers, Donnie Sowers, Steve Bowser, Matthew Fry, and Bill Fry.
Friends may contribute to a charity of the donor's choice.
Family and friends may visit the funeral chapel on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Douglas W. Jones
1932 - 2006
Douglas W. Jones, 73, of Cheyenne died Oct. 1 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Jones was born Dec. 17, 1932, in Staten Island, N.Y., and had lived here for 36 years.
He worked in personal affairs at F.E. Warren Air Force Base.
Mr. Jones was a member of Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, American Legion Carter Brown and Western Star Lodge No. 6.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jones of Cheyenne; a son, Douglas M. Jones of Greeley, Colo.; two daughters, Karin Jones of Fontana, Calif., and Kimberlyn Draper of Cheyenne; five grandchildren, Kenneth and Kevin Jones, both of Fontana, Adam and Andrew Draper, both of Cheyenne, and Keith Jones of Greeley.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Jones; and a sister, Margaret Oliver.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel with the Rev. Carieta Cain Grizzell officiating. Interment will be in Beth El cemetery.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 6.
Lois M. Dumitrescu
1932 - 2006
Lois Margaret Dumitrescu, 73, of Cheyenne died Oct. 2.
She was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Menasha, Wis.
Mrs. Dumitrescu graduated from St. Mary's in Wisconsin.
She married Emile Dumitrescu and settled in California.
Mrs. Dumitrescu enjoyed shopping, doing puzzles and watching movies.
She is survived by her four daughters, DeeDee Nelson of Peoria, Ariz., Denise Lienemann of McCook, Neb., Diane Prahl of Cheyenne, and Debbie Matsen of Corona, Calif.; three brothers, Bobbi, Ronald and Roger, all of Wisconsin; three sisters, Emagene, Carol and Janie, all of Wisconsin; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Dumitrescu was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Genieve Schierl.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Rudeen C. Malm
1923 - 2006
Rudeen Carl "Bud" Malm, 83, of Cheyenne died Sept. 29 at Cheyenne Health Care Center.
He was born March 10, 1923, in Pine Bluffs.
Mr. Malm was a lifetime resident of Laramie County.
He graduated from Albin High School and attended the University of Wyoming and John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Mr. Malm was a rancher and farmer. He was a charter member of the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church and served as deacon, trustee and adult Sunday - school teacher and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Baptist Conference. He also served as a trustee for Laramie County School District 2, served three years in the U.S. Navy, was an officer of the Gillette Scholarship Committee and was an avid pool player.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, whom he married July 24, 1947, in Siloam Springs; a son, Stephen R. Malm of San Jose, Calif.; a son and daughter - in - law, Randall and Susan Malm of Cheyenne; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Lauren Malm of Laramie; and three sisters, Margaret Berry of Cheyenne, and Louise Etchings and Geraldine Wenzel of San Diego.
Mr. Malm was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Carl Malm; an infant son, Norman Carl; two brothers, Gene Malm of Fort Collins, Colo., and Glenn Malm of Albin; and one sister, Gertrude McCoy of Garden Grove, Calif.
Internment of the urn will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Pine Bluffs Cemetery and a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church.
Friends may contribute to the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church.
Frances C. Lanum
1922 - 2006
Frances C. Lanum, 84, of Laramie died Sept. 26 in Laramie.
She was born March 8, 1922 in Leoti, Kan., to George J. and Irene I. Burr.
She grew up in Denver and graduated from South High School in 1940. She married Joseph A. Lanum Jr., on Nov. 10, 1940 in Denver.
She moved to Laramie in 1950.
Mrs. Lanum was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral since 1952 and was active in many church organizations. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of Laramie's T.O.P.S. Club, Civic League, and served as a volunteer at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. In the 1970s she worked for the Laramie County School District 1 school lunch program for several years before she retired.
She is survived by four children, Joanna Lanum of Cheyenne, John Lanum of Casper, Nadyne Ellenberger and Philip Lanum; six grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren; a half sister, Ginger Sorenson of Grand Junction, Colo.; four nephews; three nieces; and numerous grand and great - grand nephews and nieces.
Services are under the direction of Montgomery - Stryker Funeral Home.
