Wayne R. ten Bensel
1913 - 2006
Wayne R. ten Bensel, 93, of Cheyenne died Oct. 24 at Life Care Center of Cheyenne.
He was born June 15, 1913, in Cambridge, Neb.
Mr. ten Bensel married Elizabeth Irene Hasty on May 23, 1935, in Arapahoe, Neb.
He farmed near Arapahoe until 1940 when he moved his family to Cheyenne where he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1975 after 35 years as a carman. He was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and a member of First United Methodist Church of Cheyenne.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Elizabeth I. ten Bensel of Cheyenne; two sons and a daughter - in - law, William ten Bensel and Ronald and Maureen ten Bensel, all of Cheyenne; two daughters and a son - in - law, Donna Moss of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Kay and Mark Lisak of Olathe, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great - grandchildren.
Mr. ten Bensel was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Emma Elizabeth ten Bensel; his eldest son, Charles Kenneth ten Bensel in 1991; four brothers, Clarence, Theodore, Frank and Harold; and two sisters, Iva and Mathilde.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nadine Korhonen officiating.
Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth W. Moss, James E. Moss, Mark J. Moss, Brand E. LeMaitre and Philip J. LeMaitre.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Friends who wish may send contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 108 E. 18th St., Cheyenne, WY 82001 or a charity of their choice in Wayne's name.

Edward C. Griffin
1920 - 2006
Edward C. Griffin, 86, of Denver died Oct. 27 in Denver.
Mr. Griffin was born May 15, 1920.
Husband of Florence; father of Donna (Earl DeGroot) Griffin of Cheyenne, Edward (Helen O'Connor) Griffin Jr. of Denver; grandfather of Sara DeGroot of Laramie.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. today at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, CO 80227.
Interment Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Barbara J. Spence
1940 - 2006
Barbara Jean Spence, 66, of Arvada, Colo., died Oct. 29 at her home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1940 in Monarch. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1958 and then attended Sheridan College.
Mrs. Spence began her career with Mountain Bell in Cheyenne in 1978 and at the time of her death was employed as an executive administrative legal assistant at Qwest. She lived in Cheyenne for 20 years before moving to Arvada and was a housewife as well as a career woman.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for years. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served as a board member for DePaul Hospital Guild.
Mrs. Spence was an accomplished pianist and organist and enjoyed playing for weddings and other events.
She was a great humanitarian and took great pleasure in helping others.
She is survived by one daughter, Jayme Rinn of Arvada; one son, Kevin Spence of Green River; two grandchildren; and brother, Franklin Yorio of Sheridan.
Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Spence on Nov. 7, 1981, whom she married in June of 1960 and by her parents, John A. and Ethel M. Yorio.
Funeral liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Ruzicka as celebrant.
Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers are Bob Connelly, Michael Martin, Gerald Rinn, Henry Pickens, Norman Curtwright and Eric Lee.
Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Roselli, Timothy Boucheer, Keith Nieb, Harisha Bastiampilli, William Ojile, Dennis Lapatch, Theodore Smith, Henery Pickens, Larry Huss, Glen Oslund, Robert Summers, Edward Menghini, Terry Gale, Jason Abiva, Robert Waddell, Theodore Archdale and Kenneth Adams.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

F. Maxine Kubelck
1919 - 2006
F. Maxine Kubelck, 87, of Cheyenne died Oct. 29 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 15, 1919 in Harlan County, Neb., and had lived here since 1946. Maxine was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kubelck is survived by her daughter and son - in - law, Patricia K. and James A. Calkins, Jr. of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Ruth D. McBride and Velma G. Shepherd, both of Cheyenne, and Edna E. Richman of Kearney, Neb.; and two grandsons, James V. Calkins and Aaron M. Calkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Kubelck, whom she married July 28, 1946 in Cheyenne; a brother, DeWitt N. Brown; a sister, Bernice A. Harbaugh; four brothers - in - law, Kenneth Harbaugh, John A. McBride, Cecil L. Shepherd, and John B. Richman; and one sister - in - law, Lillis Brown.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Rugged Cross Chapel in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Nadine Korhonen officiating.
Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes. Honorary casket bearers are James V. Calkins, Aaron M. Calkins, J. Steven McBride, Neil Shepherd, Thomas L. McBride and James N. McBride.
Friends may contribute to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

George W. Miles
1927 - 2006
George Walter Miles, 79, of Cheyenne, died Oct. 29 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Laramie and has lived here since 1954 with prior residence in Laramie.
Mr. Miles served in the Navy for six years and then worked as an aircraft mechanic and aviation supervisor for the Wyoming Army National Guard for 36 years. He retired as a master sergeant. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Miles is survived by his wife, Shirley, whom he married Dec. 8, 1954 in Clarence, N.Y.; one son and daughter - in - law, George "Bill" William and LeAnna Jonette Miles of Evanston; three daughters and sons - in - law, Mary Marie and Christopher Joseph Caffey of Tulsa, Okla., Karyl Kay and Michael Edward Hoth of Thornton, Colo., and Deena Denise and James Leland Nicholson of Henderson, Colo.; and seven grandchildren, Petty Officer Joseph Walter Nicholson, U.S. Navy of Norfolk, Va., Myles Leland Nicholson of Henderson, Edward Walter Hoth and Denise Rose Marie Hoth, both of Thornton, Robert William Caffey II of Tulsa, Kaycee Hunter Miles of Evanston, and George Anthony Caffey of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Lorenzo Dow Miles and Henrietta Marie Miles.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with Pastor Paul Everett officiating and Richard Larsen as eulogist. Interment will be in Beth El Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George "Bill" William Miles, Michael Edward Hoth, James Leland Nicholson, Edward Walter Hoth, Christopher Joseph Caffey, and Myles Leland Nicholson.
Military Honors will be provided by the Wyoming Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Cremation will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Friends may contribute to the American Lung Association.
The family will receive friends at Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m.

Cecilia M. Gassman
1920 - 2006
Cecilia Mary Gassman, 86, of Cheyenne, died Oct. 29 at Cheyenne Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Gassman was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Walker, Kan.
She has lived in Cheyenne since 1956 with prior residence in Green River.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Council of Catholic Women, Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxilliary Post No. 1881, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Union Pacific Old Timers Association.
Mrs. Gassman is survived by two sons, John Paul Gassman of Linden, Wash., and William J. Gassman of Joshua Tree, Calif.; two daughters, Myra Sevchuk and Teresa Gassman, both of Cheyenne; 11 grandchildren and 18 great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gassman; her parents, John W. and Mary Robben; two brothers and three sisters.
Vigil for the deceased will be 7 p.m. today at Wiederspahn - Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Funeral liturgy will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Abbott Bryan Wangler, OSB as celebrant and Msgr. William Delaney as con - celebrant.
Interment will be in Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may contribute to St. Joseph's Children Home in Torrington.
