JAMES ‘JIM’ KNUPP
Memorial services for James “Jim” Knupp, 66, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at Bustard’s Funeral Home in Casper. Pastor Bruce Cell of Liberty Baptist Church will preside. Mr. Knupp died Oct. 23 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. He was born on Dec. 3, 1938, in Boles, Okla., to Sig and Ruby Knupp. He was raised and went to school in California. He moved to Glenrock in 1976, and he enjoyed following the nice weather with the team roping circuit and working on his land in Glenrock. Survivors include his daughters Bonnie Rivera, Robin Downs, Jami Knupp and Tammy Coberly; grandchildren Samantha, Nate and Elisha Low, Travis Coberly and Taylor Coberly: sister Wanda Crabill; and brothers Calvin, Joe, Danny and Jerry Knupp. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Memorial donations to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper 82601, would be appreciated by the family.

PATRICIA ‘TISH’ GILBREATH
A private memorial service will be held for Patricia (Tish) Gilbreath on Nov. 5 in Helena, Mont., following cremation. A celebration of life gathering in her honor will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the Grubstake Restaurant that same day. Mrs. Gilbreath died Oct. 18, 2005, in Palm Springs, Calif. She was loved by all and will be missed beyond measure.She was born Aug. 24, 1939, in Scottsbluff, Neb., and raised in Gering, Neb. where she attended kindergarten through the 12th grade. She was active in drama, band and choir. During her junior and senior years, she led the band as the drum majorette. She attended Scottsbluff Junior College. She was a restaurant entrepreneur with McDonald’s, DosBanditos and most recently Gilly’s Restaurant and Casino in Helena. After retiring, she enjoyed waitressing at the Grubstake Restaurant. She moved to Douglas in July 2004 to be closer to her great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader. Mrs. Gilbreath always had an amusing story to share. She listened with concern to her friends’ and family’s sorrows and with enthusiasm to their joys and shared, sage advice. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed cross stitching, gardening, music, dancing, card playing, her dogs, and attending all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was courageous and brave during her short illness with pancreatic cancer. Survivors include Don Gilbreath of Douglas; children Monty and Harla Gilbreath of Douglas, Todd and Barbara Gilbreath of Helena, Dawn and Wes Davis of Helena and Twila Gilbreath and Bev Poppe of Palm Springs; and brother and sister-in-law Gary and Sandy Cook of Scottsbluff, Neb. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Gilbreath’s name are suggested to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455 Helena, Mt. 59604, or to the American Cancer Society.

MAE OLIVE HOYT
Funeral services for Mae Olive Hoyt, 83, were Oct. 26 at First Baptist Church in Douglas. Pastor Frank Wiederrecht officiated, and graveside services were held at the Lusk Cemetery. Mrs. Hoyt died on Oct. 19, 2005, at Morning Star Manor in Ft. Washakie. She was born Feb. 4, 1922, to Samuel H. and Nellie (Evans) Blaney in Jireh. She grew up in the Jireh/Manville area and graduated from Manville High School. Shortly after graduating, she married James”Orval” Hoyt on March 8, 1941, in Harrison, Neb. Orval worked in the Lance Creek Oil Field, and Mae was a devoted housewife and mother. After Orval’s retirement in 1967, the couple moved to Douglas. Mrs. Hoyt worked as a school cook in the Douglas School District. After the death of her husband in 1978, she continued to work as a cook until her retirement in the mid-1980s. She enjoyed traveling, especially visiting her daughter and family in Tanzania, East Africa. She loved people, valued her many friends and adored her grandchildren. Her hobbies included fishing, crafting and needlework. She is survived by her daughter Dixie and husband Winston Slider of Chugwater; grandchildren Ambika and Paul Schoening of Cheyenne, Tekla Slider of Kent, Ohio, Heather and Rick Stitzel of Burlington, Colo.; brother William “Bill” Blaney of Torrington; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter and two brothers. Memorial donations may be made to Morning Star Manor or the charity donor’s choice, care of Hudson’s Funeral Home, 680 Mount Hope Drive, Lander 82520.

JUDITH ELLEN ALLISON
Graveside services for Judith Ellen Allison, 59, will be held 1 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Glenrock Cemetery, with Father Ralph Talkin of the Saint Louis Catholic Church officiating. Mrs. Allison died of cancer on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at her home in Rolling Hills. She was born Feb. 19, 1946, in Stockton, Calif., to George Thomas and Charlotte Francis (Altheide) Kruger. She was reared and educated in Stockton. She married Kenneth Allison on July 30, 1965, in Stockton. The couple moved to Glenrock in 1983 from Turlock, Calif., and owned and operated Country Ceramics in Rolling Hills. She enjoyed doing crafts and ceramics. She loved to read, gamble, and cook, especially baking. She adored her family. She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Rolling Hills; brother Ronald A. Kruger of Glenrock; nieces Jennifer Renee Kruger and her son Dylan Thomas Kruger and Breanna Kruger, all of Glenrock, Terry Flynn of Glenrock and her children Sarah and Robert Mota of Oregon; and great-nephews Jacob Zagrabelany, Drew Zagrabelany and Travis Zagrabelany. She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte, on Feb. 15, 1994; father George on July 4, 1995; and sister Janice Riess in 2005. WILLIAM J. BRENNAN
William J. Brennan, 82, died Nov. 9, 2005, at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, Neb. Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 14 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Don Buhrman as celebrant. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Scottsbluff with military rites by the Nebraska National Guard. Memorials are suggested to St. Agnes School at Scottsbluff. Online condolences may be sent to www.jolliffefuneralhome.com, which will be forwarded to the family. He was born Oct. 27, 1923, to Frank and Madeliene Brennan at Alliance, Neb. He attended St. Agnes Academy and Regis College in Denver in 1941, Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., in 1946, and an army school in Oxford, England, in 1945. He joined the Army on July 23, 1943, and served in the European Theater. He served in the infantry and fought in military engagements at Rome Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley, and served as a military correspondent through the end of the war. He earned a bronze star for valor, a European African Middle Eastern Service medal and a World War II Victory medal. He received an honorable discharge on Dec. 30, 1945. He married Jo Anne Carpenter on Feb. 26, 1949 and lived in the Gering and Scottsbluff, communities where he worked as a news director for KOLT radio and later as a news director and station manager for KSTF television. In 1985, he and his family moved to Douglas, where he managed KATH Broadcasting Co. In 1992, he and his wife moved to Fort Pierce, Fla., where they lived in retirement. During his journalism career in Scottsbluff, he was honored with Bill Brennan Day for 40 years of outstanding broadcasting and community service. He was a president of the Highway 26 Association, president of the Emergency Medical Service Association, a member of the St. Mary Hospital Advisory Board, Elks Club, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Nebraska Broadcasting Association and Omaha Press Club. He was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church and a member of the Legion of Mary. Survivors include sister Kay and Bob Gerd of Morrison, Colo.; wife Jo Anne; daughters Peg and Scott Jones of Denton, Neb., and Jennifer and John Scardino of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; sons Bill and Deborah of Grand Island, Neb., Sean and Coleen of Lincoln, Neb., Tom and Diana of Aurora, Colo., Ed of Sacramento, Tim of Fort Pierce, and Bob of Lincoln; grandchildren Shannon and Sean M. Brennan, Joe Brennan, Carri Windhorst, Laura Kaiser, Katelin Brennan, Dan Brennan, Terry Brennan, Sean T. Brennan, Bill J. Brennan, Ryan Brennan, Sheila Jones and Luke Jones; and great-grandchildren Starla Brennan, Emma Jo Brennan, Jacob Windhorst, Tyler Jean Brennan, Breanna Brennan and Bailey Brennan.

MATHEW CAROTHERS
No funeral services will be held at this time for Mathew Douglas Carothers, 81, who died Dec. 14, 2005, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. A private family service will be held in the spring of 2006.
He was born April 19, 1924, on the Carothers family ranch 19 miles south of Douglas, the youngest child of Mathew Dale Carothers and Blanche (George) Carothers.
He was preceded in death by his older three siblings, George, Arthur “Bud” and Margaret; and his loving wife, Henrietta.
He is survived by his son Ronald Mathew Carothers, 57, of Justin, Texas; grandson Brian Mathew Carothers, 32, of Fort Worth, Texas; and great-grandchildren Zachary Mathew Carothers, 8, Katlyn Carothers, 5, and Garrett Carothers, 16 months.
His family would like to recognize his many friends and staff members from Payne Plaza Retirement Community, where he resided for many years. Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.

THEODORE ‘EARL’ BOWMAN
Funeral services for Ft. Laramie resident Theodore “Earl” Bowman, 79, were Dec. 26 at First Christian Church in Wheatland, with Pastor Bob Frye of Guernsey United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in the Wheatland Cemetery. Mr. Bowman died Dec. 22 at Memorial Hospital of Converse County. He was born Jan. 9, 1926, at the Bowman family homestead at Dwyer to Elizabeth (Kissel) and Joseph N. Bowman. He was reared and received his elementary education at Dwyer and graduated from Guernsey-Sunrise High School in 1945. Mr. Bowman married Jacqueline Mae Latta on Nov. 23, 1947, in Fort Laramie. He loved farming and ranching in the Dwyer area north of Wheatland with his brother, George. He worked on the building of the Glendo Dam and I-25, for the railroad, as a school bus driver and for CF&I- Sunrise Mine. In his retirement years, he worked 10 years at the Guernsey Golf Course. He and his wife moved to Guernsey in 1990 and to Ft. Laramie in 2002. Mr. Bowman enjoyed tinkering and reading. He was a member of Guernsey United Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon. He was an avid fan of the Wyoming Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals. Survivors include his wife of 58 years of Ft. Laramie; children Jim and wife Marilyn Bowman of Lewisville, Texas, Vicki and husband Jim Bowsher of Ft. Laramie, Jon Bowman of North Platte, Neb., Randy and wife Becky Bowman of Cheyenne, and Biff and husband Ross Gorman of Douglas; sister Betty Winkler of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Louise Tittle and Jessie Ennis; brothers Joe Bowman Jr. and George Bowman; and two great-grandsons. Serving as pallbearers were Ron Gilson, Jack Joecks, Bob Fletcher, Gale Rutherford, Chuck Frederick and Joe Hohnholt. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Call, Roland Brown, Harold Rexius, Frank Jones, Arnie Cancino and Jarvis Windom. Memorials to Guernsey United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 298, Guernsey 82214 or Ft. Laramie Rescue Unit, Box 493, Ft. Laramie 82212 would be appreciated by the family. Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland was in charge of the arrangements.

SAMUEL CURRIE
No funeral services will be held at this time for Samuel D. Currie, 81, who died Dec. 26 at his home in Douglas.
A private memorial service will be held by relatives and friends later.
He was born July 30, 1924, in Shawnee, Okla., to Chesterfield and Helen (Sailsbury) Turner.
Mr. Currie served his country as a naval officer and aircraft pilot during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He then became a career intelligence officer with the Central Intelligence Agency for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife Laura P. Matschke of Douglas; daughters Carol C. and husband Joe Norfolk of Douglas and Kathryn C. Edler of Big Fork, Mont.; sister Juanita Welsh of Robstown, Texas; four grandchildren; and the mother of his daughters, Ruth Currie of Williamsburg, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. A memorial to North Platte Home Health and Hospice, 130 North Ash Street, Casper 82601, would be appreciated by the family.

LARRY EUGENE GOODELL
A funeral service for Larry Eugene Goodell, 60, will be held in the spring of 2006. He will be interned at the Gray Ranch near Hulett. Mr. Goodell died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of Converse County.
He was born Feb. 8, 1945, in Ely, Nev., to Kenneth Eugene and Millicent (Gray) Goodell. He was reared and educated in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah and graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper in 1964. He entered the United States Navy following graduation and served two years in Vietnam.
He married Anita Jeanette Morris on Dec. 9, 1969, in Casper. They resided in Casper, then moved to Hulett to run a grocery store for seven years, then moved to Gillette where he taught mine safety for four years.
He then began working for Kennecott – Antelope Coal Mine as a safety administrator and retired in 2000. He and his wife have resided in Douglas since 1990. He started the ambulance service in Hulett and worked as an EMT for 25 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting and restoring old cars. He loved life and sang at a number of funerals and weddings. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hulett.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Goodell, of Douglas; sons Glen Eugene Goodell of Douglas and Craig Allen Goodell of Hulett; sister Gayle Pruet of Las Vegas, Nev.; and granddaughters Amber and Brianna Goodell of Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helen Goodell. A memorial to the North Platte Home Health and Hospice, 130 North Ash Street, Suite 201, Casper 82601 would be appreciated by the family. Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
