Elaine Edith Bain

THERMOPOLIS — Elaine Edith Bain, 59, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Hot Spring County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1947 in Cody. She was the daughter of Dr. Nels and Mrs. Freda Vicklund. Raised and educated in Thermopolis, she graduated from the Technical College of the Rockies in secretarial work. She was employed at various businesses in Thermopolis until she was disabled.

In the 1980’s, she married Jesse Bain in Denver. The couple later divorced.

Elaine was a member of the Vesper Chapter of the Eastern Star. An active member of the Holy Trinity Church, she was a Eucharistic minister, worship leader, former Vestry member and an Education for Ministry graduate. She enjoyed crafts handiwork and loved her dog.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Deborah.

Survivors include her sister, Carol (Marton) Bivens, brother Nels (Kathy) Vicklund, both of Thermopolis; brother Jon, of Kirkland, Wash. and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Elaine will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with father Joe Galligan officiating.

Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Church, 642 Arapahoe St. Thermopolis.

Sally Anne Beauvais

WORLAND — Worland resident Sally Anne Beauvais, 59, passed away at the Washakie Medical Center on May 3, 2007.

Sally was born Feb. 14, 1948 in Wheatland to James A. and Sarah “Sally” (Glanz) McDonald. She was born to a family of five boys.

She grew up in Wheatland until the family moved to Worland in 1954. Sally attended the Worland schools until 1960, when the family moved to Riverton. After two years they returned to Worland where Sally graduated in 1966.

She married Amos Goldsberry in the spring of 1970. They were divorced in January of 1975. She then moved to Cheyenne where she met Mike Beauvais. They were married May 20, 1975, in Pueblo, Colo. They joined their families together. Born into this union were children Shawn, Troy, Cary, and Donnette.

Sally was involved in the Eagles Auxiliary #3096 and The Legion Auxiliary Post 44 and the Elks/Does. She liked to collect angels, working in her garden and doing puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Marshal McDonald (1979), James H. McDonald (2005) and Frankie McDonald (1959).

She is survived by her husband, Mike and children: Shawn, Troy, and Cary Beauvais and Donnette (Brandon) Boger; two brothers, Burt (Carolyn) McDonald and Tom (Laura) McDonald, and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Bentch officiating. Following the services, there will be a light luncheon at the Eagles. Cremation has taken place. A private interment of the ashes will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Sally Anne’s name and sent to Bryant Funeral Home, PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.

Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James E. Sanchez

CHEYENNE — James E. Sanchez, 48, died April 30 at Regional West Hospital in Cheyenne.

He was born in Worland on Sept. 23, 1958 to Rutilio and Ruth Sanchez. Jim lived in Worland most of his life and attended school there.

He had many friends in Cheyenne and Worland. He liked cars and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Alvardo.

He is survived by his wife Jodi of Cheyenne and his children, Cindy and James J. of Illinois, Leo (Deb) of Cheyenne, Ruben (Deb) of Worland, Adam of Cheyenne, Erica of California, Shantel, Kasha and Katrina, all of Nebraska, and Sha’Lee of Cheyenne. He’s also survived by his twin brother John (Deb) Sanchez and brothers Raul (Patty) Sanchez of Worland and Ruben of Iowa; nine grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

His funeral service was held May 4, 2007 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cheyenne.

Judith Ann “Judy” Estes

BASIN — Long-time Basin resident Judith Ann “Judy” Estes, 66, passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by family at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland early Wednesday morning, May 9, 2007.

Judy was born in Scottsbluff, Neb. on May 21, 1940. She was the daughter of William C. and Thelma Jean (Osborn) Boston. She grew up and received her schooling in Scottsbluff.

Judy met the love of her life – Vern Estes. They were married in Scottsbluff on March 8, 1958.

In 1959 they moved to Cody. In the spring of 1968 they moved to Basin where she helped Vern run the Big Horn Land & Title until Judy’s health forced her to retire.

Her family was always first. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons.

Judy will be remembered for her smile — even through the hard times as her failing health progressed.

She loved her flower garden and enjoyed shopping for family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bridge.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Basin and was a member of the P.E.O.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Vern Estes of Basin; son, Tadd Estes of Basin; daughter Troy (Mario) Ibarra of Laramie; three grandsons, Jordan, Ryne and Tanner Ibarra, all of Laramie; and her brother Bill (Marlene) Boston of Casper.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Basin. Reverend Jack Preston will be conducting the services.

A reception for family and friends will follow the services in the basement of the United Methodist Church of Basin.

In memory of Judy, buy a flower or a plant at a local greenhouse, plant it and remember Judy as it grows throughout the summer.

Ted Skovgard, Sr.

BASIN — Lifetime Basin resident, Ted Skovgard, Sr., 88, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 8, 2007 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Worland.

Ted was born in Basin on May 27, 1918, he was the son of Simon and Hope (Scott) Skovgard. He grew up in Basin and graduated from Basin High School.

He married Ruth Godfrey on March 30, 1941 in Red Lodge, Mont.

He enjoyed fishing in the summer and hunting in the winter — all game, small and large. He enjoyed working with and riding his horses. Ted was a “true” cowboy. Later in life, he enjoyed sitting on his bench in his front yard and watching life go by — deer, squirrels and neighbors. Ted loved being outdoors.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Merle Skovgard; four sisters, Constance McKinney, Wilma Say, Virginia Plasters and Trudy Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Skovgard of Basin; three sons, Ted (Sandra) Skovgard of Basin, Mitchell (D.J.) Skovgard of Casper, Scott (Dort) Skovgard of Nampa, Idaho; two daughters, Annita (Andrew) Ankeny of Worland and Betty Skovgard of Basin; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Atwood Family Chapel in Basin from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Graveside Funeral Services will follow the viewing on Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Mount View Cemetery in Basin at 2 p.m. Reverend Kent Dempsey will be conducting the services, burial will follow.

A memorial fund has been established at the Security State Bank, P.O. Box 531, Basin WY 82410. Proceeds will go to the Riverside High School sports department in Basin.

Atwood Family Funeral Directors Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Amanda LeAnne Allen Grice

FORDYCE, Ariz. -Amanda LeAnne Allen Grice, 33, of New Edinburg, Ariz. died Friday June 8, 2007.

Amanda was born in Pine Bluff, Ariz. on Jan. 20, 1974. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fordyce.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Keith Grice; her two sons, Austin and Grant Grice of New Edinburg; a daughter, Gracyn Grice of New Edinburg; her parent, James (Teresa) Allen of Saratoga, Dotti (Dan) McAfee of Worland and two sisters Corrie of Fordyce and Jasmine Allen of Thermopolis.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church in Fordyce. Burial will be in Tanyard Cemetery with the Reverend Hammett Evans and Brother Dusty Rhodes officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Fordyce.

Keith Scott Taylor

THERMOPOLIS — Keith Scott Taylor, 54, died Friday, June 29, 2007 as the result of an industrial accident.

He was born June 1, 1953 in St. John, Kan. the son of Herschel and Agnes (Thiel) Taylor. His family then moved to Thermopolis where Scott attended high school. From 1969 to 1973 he served in the U.S. Army. For most of his life, he worked in the oilfields of Wyoming and Oklahoma. On Aug. 1979 he married Angela Cass Taylor in Thermopolis.

A driller on rigs, Scott was employed by Range-Barnhart. His interests were motorcycling and his family.

Scott was preceded in death by his daughter Kelly, 2002 and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Angie, sons, James and Danny, all of Thermopolis; son, Christopher of Utah; daughter, Crystal Lee of California; two brothers, Rodney Max Taylor of Thermopolis and Joe Taylor of Oklahoma; granddaughter Joey whom Scott and Angie were raising and seven other grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be Thursday, July 5 at 2 p.m. at the Risen Son Southern Baptist Church with Pastor John Herrington officiating.

Mortimore Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Edward J. Vandersloot

GREYBULL — Edward J. Vandersloot, 81, died June 29, 2007 at Bonnie Blue Jacket Rest Home, Basin, Wyoming. He had been in ill health for the past two and one-half years.

Ed was born May 13, 1926 near Hardin, Mont. to Anthony F. and Barbara Feller Vandersloot and was the eldest of eight children. He attended school at Soap Creek and Hardin High school. He worked for Warrens in Hardin before entering the Army.

Ed was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Hawaii.

He married Eldean K. Moos in Hardin, April 24, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2004.

Ed managed the Hardin Farmers’ Union until 1967, when he moved to Joliet to manage the Roberts Co-op and then the Laurel Co-op, until retiring for a short period of time.

He moved to Powell in 1982 and managed the Powell branch of the Big Horn Co-op until his retirement. He continued working for area farmers during harvest and driving fertilizer truck until his health prevented him from driving truck.

Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking, horseshoe pitching and teasing his grandkids.

He moved to Greybull in 1999 and lived there until he entered the rest home.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Tommy, Tony and Charles.

He is survived by sister Catherine (Dave) Smith, Billings, Mont.; brothers; Lawrence (Bonnie) Vandersloot, Hardin, Montana; John (Elaine) Vandersloot, Columbus, Mont.; and Jim Vandersloot, Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews: Ed had four children: his daughter, Julie (Greg) Frensko, Ten Sleep; sons, Rick (Joyce) Vandersloot, Rock Springs; Dave (Elaine) Vandersloot, Livingston, Mont.; and Pat (Claudia) Vandersloot, Greybull. He has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children and three more on the way.

Cremation will take place, and a memorial service and spreading of his and Eldean’s ashes will be at a later date.

The Family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Bonnie Blue Jacket Nursing Home and Midway Clinic for all the care and loving support they gave Ed and his Family throughout his stay with them.

Danny Wayne Wheeler

THERMOPOLIS — Danny Wayne Wheeler, 59, died Thursday, June 28, 2007 at his home in Thermopolis after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 16, 1948 in Powell, the son of Forrest “Bud” and Marge (Keller) Wheeler.

Following graduation from Powell High School, he attended Northwest Community College in Powell.

On May 3, 1968 he married Sherry Dee Wollam in Powell. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971. Following his discharge, the family moved to Thermopolis where Danny was employed by Aldrich Lumber, then Skelly Oil and later known as Getty, then Texaco. He worked for the company for 13 years until he became disabled. Becoming self employed he owned Thermopolis feed store, then animal shack, then Wheeler Dealers, an antique store.

Over a period of years he was known for winning several Golden Glove Championships. This led to coaching the boxing club in Thermopolis. He also coached Little League baseball and his girl’s softball teams. For a time he served with the volunteer fire department.

Danny’s hobbies included raising, breaking and trading horses; camping and fishing. He loved auctions and yard sales where he found treasures for his store but his favorite treasure was his family.

Danny is preceded in death by his brother, Elmer and mother, Marge.

He is survived by his father Bud, of Powell; wife, Sherry of Thermopolis; three daughters, Shawna (Louis) Bradshaw of Thermopolis, Dana (Travis) McDermott of Gillette and Kimberly (Bart) Becher of Douglas; two sisters, Peggy (Phil) Schneider of Thermopolis and Brenda (Wayne) Wassink of Powell; brother, Steve Wheeler of Oregon and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 4, 11 a.m. at the Risen Son Southern Baptist Church. Officiating will be pastors’ John Herrington and Sam Torrez.

A fund to help with medical expenses is being established at Pinnacle Bank, P.O. Box 1369, 82443.
