John D'Amico

1923-2004

John R. D'Amico, 81, died Sept. 7 at Swedish Hospital in Englewood, Colo.

He was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Wheatland. He was raised in Sunrise. He attended the University of Wyoming, where he earned a civil engineering degree in 1947. He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department for 28 years. He was the director of engineering when he retired from the department.

After leaving Wyoming, he worked for the Western Highway Institute in San Francisco, then moved to Denver to work for Fig and Meuller Engineering and CH2MHILL. He was a member of Acacia Lodge No. 11 in Cheyenne, Wyoming Consistory and Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth D'Amico of Denver; a son, Chris D'Amico and wife Sandra of Littleton, Colo.; three granddaughters, Lisa Webb of Minneapolis, Trisha Dell Donne of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Christine D'Amico of Littleton; a grandson, Andrew D'Amico of Murrieta, Calif.; and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Wilcox.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary in Littleton.

Kendra E. Davison

1979-2004

Kendra Elaine Davison, 25, died Aug. 29 at her sister's home in Denver.

She was born March 7, 1979, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Maggie and Brian Davison.

Kendra most recently made her home in New York City, where she studied music at the Mannes College of Music. Her love for music began early. She started playing the cello at age 5 and hoped to someday play with a major symphony orchestra. She had studied cello with Jack Hansen in Cheyenne, Judith Glyde at the University of Colorado, Andrew Smith at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and Barbara Mallow at Mannes College. Kendra also studied piano with Evelyn Korber for many years in Cheyenne.

She recently completed one year of her master's degree at Mannes College. Kendra received her bachelor's degree in music performance from UNLV. She attended Cheyenne's East High from 1995 to 1997 and played in the high school orchestra, sang in the school choir and competed with the speech team. While living in Cheyenne, Kendra participated in the Kiwanis' Stars of Tomorrow show, several Cheyenne Little Theatre productions and many local music performances.

Her more recent musical accomplishments included her membership in the Las Vegas Philharmonic and UNLV Orchestra, participation in the Penns Woods music festival in Pennsylvania, and performances as a member of the Mannes Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York City and Verizon Hall in Philadelphia.

During her musical career, Kendra had been privileged to play in orchestras accompanying such performances as Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Neil Sedaka and Hillary Hahn. In addition to playing and listening to music, Kendra also enjoyed reading, writing, camping, hiking and spending time with friends and family.

Kendra was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne.

She is survived by her companion, Kevin Thomas of New York City; a sister, Andrea Elmore (Jon) of Denver; her mom, Maggie Davison of Cheyenne; her dad, Brian Davison of Glendo; a grandmother, Ruby Preston of Cheyenne; grandparents, Roy and Peggy Davison of Anchorage; and a nephew, Ethan Greg Preston Elmore of Denver.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne, 3005 Thomes Ave.

Lois M. Wright

1923-2004

Lois Maxine Wright, 81, of Cheyenne died Sept. 9 at Mountain Towers Healthcare in Cheyenne.

She was born March 22, 1923, in Deaver, Wyo., the daughter of Paul and Mabel (Dickerson) Williams.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Wheatland with Pastor Skip Perry officiating.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Gorman Funeral Homes - Platte Chapel of Wheatland.

Memorials may be sent to Alzheimer's Research Association, P.O. Box 851, Casper, WY 82602.

Loren Sanders

1940-2004

Loren Sanders, 64, of Cheyenne died Sept. 5 in Cheyenne.

He was born Aug. 26, 1940, in Ziegler, Ill., and had lived here for 12 years.

Mr. Sanders served in the Army and the Navy.

He was a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mr. Sanders was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1881 and American Legion Post 6.

He is survived by four sons, Mathew Sanders of Thomsonville, Ill., Steve Sanders of Marion, Ill., Timothy Sanders of Benton, Ill., and Jeffery Sanders of Christopher, Ill.; two brothers, Robert Sanders of DuQuinn, Ill., and Lester Sanders of Johnson City, Ill.; and numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Ada Sanders; and a brother, Sylvester Sanders.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Lorraine J. Jennings

1922-2004

Lorraine J. Jennings, 81, of Cheyenne died Sept. 6 at United Medical Center-West.

She was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Lincoln, Neb.

Mrs. Jennings was a secretary for the Lincoln Public Schools and retired after 30 years of service.

She was a member of Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Mrs. Jennings is survived by two sons, William Jennings of Cheyenne and Michael Jennings of Ankeny, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine Schaffer; and a sister, Verna Metz.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Interment of her urn will be today at the Wyuka cemetery in Lincoln.

Lorraine K. Adams

1967-2004

Lorraine K. "Lorrie" Adams, 37, of Cheyenne died Sept. 9 at United Medical Center-West.

She was born Aug. 10, 1967, in Cheyenne and had lived here all of her life.

She was a certified nursing assistant for private patients.

Lorrie is survived by a son, Anthony Adams of Cheyenne; two daughters, Angel Adams and Amber Adams, both of Cheyenne; her mother and stepfather, Donna and Dave Hill of Cheyenne; her father and stepmother, Bob and Jane Adams of Laramie; two uncles, James Conine of Burns and Tom Conine of Salt Lake City; an aunt, Ida Mae Apostolou of Cheyenne; and several cousins.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Delbert Hansen officiating.

Cremation will take place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Louis T. Walraven

1938-2004

Louis Turner Walraven, 66, of Cheyenne went home to be with his Lord Sept. 8 at United Medical Center-West.

He was born Feb. 12, 1938, in San Angelo, Texas, and had lived here since 1978.

Mr. Walraven served in the Air Force for 22 years. He served in Germany, Italy and Greece.

Mr. Walraven had worked for the state of Wyoming Archives and Wyoming Workers Safety as an OSHA compliance officer for 15 years.

He was a member of Frontier United Methodist Church, where he was chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Cheyenne Lodge No. 1 A.F. & A.M.

He enjoyed boating at Hawk Springs Reservoir, woodworking and classic car restoration. He put his faith in God and love for his family above all else.

Mr. Walraven is survived by his wife, Sandra S. Walraven of Cheyenne, whom he married Sept. 4, 1965 in Greeley, Colo.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Michelle and Richard Dixon and Danielle and Rick Arterberry, all of Cheyenne; and five grandchildren, Rylee Dixon and Dakota Dixon, both of Cheyenne, and Ricky Arterberry Jr., Joshua Arterberry and Brooke Arterberry, all of Lawton, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Faye Walraven; and a sister, Barbara Snodgrass.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Frontier United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Nelson officiating.

Friends may contribute to the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society or Frontier United Methodist Church.

Mary L. Abernathy

1963-2004

Mary Lee Abernathy, 41, of Cheyenne died Sept. 6 at United Medical Center-West.

She was born Jan. 8, 1963, in Mobile, Ala.

She was employed by Holiday Inn.

She is survived by her companion, Robert M. Logan Jr. of Cheyenne; two sons, Jeremiah Lauborough of Sacramento, Calif., and Robert M. Logan III of Cheyenne; two daughters, Samantha Lee Logan and Sabrina Ariana Logan, both of Cheyenne; her parents, Claude and Virginia Abernathy of Sacramento; and a sister, Nancy Abernathy of Sacramento.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Burns; and two brothers, Tony and Sammy Abernathy.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. today at Schrader Chapel with the Rev. Brian High officiating.

Cremation will take place at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.

Mary P. O'Toole

1925-2004

Mary Patricia "Pat" O'Toole, 78, of Cheyenne died Sept. 7 at United Medical Center-West.

She was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Milwaukee to Forrest and Elizabeth Kurtz, and she was raised in La Crosse, Wis.

She graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse in 1944 and began working as a secretary for the FBI in Washington, D.C., and then was secretary to the base commander at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, retiring after 30 years of service.

She moved to Cheyenne and married Hartlett Edward Powell in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was married again in 1965 to William H. O'Toole in Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She was an avid bridge player and a member of the American Contract Bridge League.

Mrs. O'Toole is survived by a son, Michael O'Toole of Cheyenne and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands and parents.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with Msgr. William Delaney officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Friends may contribute to the Parkinson's Foundation.

Beatrice C. O'Brien

1926-2004

Beatrice C. O'Brien, 78, of Cheyenne died Sept. 13 at United Medical Center-West.

She was born Aug. 13, 1926, in North Adams, Mass., and had lived here for 13 years.

Mrs. O'Brien is survived by three daughters, Penny Lehman of Cheyenne, Janet Foster of Hulett and Elizabeth Flick of Mitchell, Neb.; a sister, Irene Norman of Cheyenne; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John O'Brien, and her parents, Albert and Irene Lariviere.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Clinton Lewis officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Friends may contribute to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Betty Jo Winslow

1944-2004

Betty Jo Winslow, 60, of Hillsdale died Sept. 13 in Hillsdale.

She was born April 8, 1944, in Cheyenne.

She was a disease control specialist for the Wyoming Livestock Board from April 1974 to Oct. 1, 2001.

She helped achieve a goal of Wyoming being brucellosis free in 1985.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Winslow of Hillsdale; a son, John Winslow of Rochester, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard Burkett of Cheyenne and Jack Jackson of North Carolina; and a grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jace Jackson.

Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Hillsdale cemetery with the Rev. Walter F. Hagemeier officiating.

Burial will be in Hillsdale cemetery.

Friends may contribute to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
