Tom W. Sanchez

1920-2005

Tom William "Willy" Sanchez, 85, of Cheyenne died Sept. 15 at United Medical Center-West.

He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Denver and had lived here most of his life.

Mr. Sanchez served in the U.S. Army.

He worked in civil service.

Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife, Carmen B. Sanchez of Cheyenne, whom he married Sept. 26, 1946, in Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers , Sam Davidson of Nebraska and Jerry Sanchez of Cheyenne; four sisters, Alice, Doris , Mary and Ann,; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silvano and Bessie Sanchez.

Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Harold Powell as the celebrant.

Interment will be in Beth El cemetery.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Pena, Robert Pena, Richard Pena, Tony Garcia, Robert Montemayor and Jerry Sanchez.

Chester L. Zwonitzer

1917-2005

Chester Lyle Zwonitzer, 88, of Cheyenne died Oct. 29 in Cheyenne.

He was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Nitawaka, Kan., and had lived here for 50 years.

Mr. Zwonitzer served in the United States Air Force during World War II.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mr. Zwonitzer is survived by his wife, Rosa Heloise Zwonitzer of Cheyenne whom he married May 2, 1947, of Topeka, Kan.; four sons, Dennis Zwonitzer of Coleville, Wash., Rev. Rodney Zwonitzer of Dearborn, Mich., David Zwonitzer of Cheyenne and Roger Zwonitzer of Cheyenne; a brother, Leonard Zwonitzer of Reno, Nev.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sophie Zwonitzer; six brothers; two sisters; a grandson and a great grandson.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Caspersen officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial wish may contribute to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice.

Donald E. Horst

1926-2005

Donald E. Horst, 79, of Cheyenne died peacefully at home Oct. 23 in Cheyenne after a long illness.

He was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Colome, S.D., and had lived here since 1985.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Cheyenne and had excellent pastoral care from the Rev. Richard Boche and Pastor Daniel Gadbow throughout his illness.

Mr. Horst served in the United States Navy SeeBees during the attempted invasion of Alaska by the Japanese and later he served in the United States Army in Germany.

He was a lifetime member of VFW 1881, was a proud member of Painters and Drywall No. 1 Local Union and No. 79 from Denver, Colo., and received his 40-year pin in 2004.

Mr. Horst is survived by his wife, Carolyn Horst, also known as Kay or Sandy by her friends, a retired Veterans Administration nurse; three step-children, Charles R. Muchmore of Daytona Beach, Fla., Mike L. Muchmore and Sandi K. Mansfield, both of Cheyenne; twin sister, Doris Hansaker, her husband, Verne, and their two daughters, Sandy Johnson and Patty Cuslak and their families, all of Dallas, Iowa; three nephews, Monte Horst of Cody, Leslie Horst of Burns, now in Iraq, and Geno Horst of Black River Falls, Wis., and he was Grandpa to Kay's five grandsons and two granddaughters.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with Rev. Richard Boche officiating.

Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Robert Baker, Greg Norman, Steve Townsend, Brent Beeman, Michael Beeman and Michael Harrison.

In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Hospice or Meals On Wheels.

Honor and thanks go to M.E. Miller, M.D., the Hospice nurses and CNAs who helped make his last days more comfortable and to Meals On Wheels personnel and drivers for their good service.

Helen I. Richards

1921-2005

Helen I. Richards, 84, of Cheyenne died Oct. 30 at United Medical Center - West after a long battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.

She was born May 15, 1921 in Perry, Okla., and had lived here since the early 1950's.

In 1939, she graduated from Perry, Oklahoma High School, where she met and married Donald M. Richards on Oct. 22, 1939. They were together for almost 65 years. They moved to Cheyenne in 1942, when her husband went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. Helen was a devoted wife and mother.

She was a life-long member of the Moose Lodge. She was known as the "Hostess with the Mostess" by her friends and family.

Mrs. Richards is survived by her daughter-in-law, Wanda Richards; friend and caregiver, Jim Conine; a grandson, Donald H. Richards; two sisters from Oklahoma, Edna Freuh and Opal Thompson and a niece, Cynthia Kauffman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Jessie Wakeman; her husband, Donald M. Richards; two sons, Larry Richards and Scott Richards; a grandson, Gary Richards and a sister, Faye Cox.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Robert Schmidt officiating.

Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Judy M. Newstead

1943-2005

Judy M. Newstead of Granite Canon died Oct. 28 at United Medial Center-West.

Mrs. Newstead was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Waterloo, N.Y., the daughter of Willis and Ellen (Johnson) Brown.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Project Linus (a religious quilting organization), and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, She enjoyed painting, quilting, reading mysteries and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Newstead is survived by two sons, Leigh Newstead of Cheyenne; and Rob Newstead of Rapid City, S.D.; a brother, Clifford Brown of Waterloo, N.Y.; three sisters, Phyllis Randall, Marge Sitterly, and Rosemary Gillotti, all of Waterloo, N.Y.; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leigh H. Newstead, whom she married April 28, 1962, in Waterloo, N.Y.; her parents; and a sister, Bonnie Relyea.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert E. Schmidt officiating. Cremation has a taken place at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.

Friends may contribute to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels or United Medical Center Hospice.

LaVeta Rohweder

1918-2005

LaVeta Marquiss, Birt, Rohweder was born Oct. 25, 1918, and died Oct. 31 at the age of 87. She was the oldest daughter of Ford A. and Faye (Rinehart) Marquiss of the Golden Prairie Community of Laramie County.

She graduated from Burns High School and attended the University of Wyoming. She taught in several rural schools. In March of 1944, she and Dale Birt were married . When they moved to Pine Bluffs, she became a clerk in the Pine Bluffs Post office and then became postmaster at Pine Bluffs for several years, retiring in 1985.

In 1980, she and Delbert Rohweder were married .

She was a member and faithful worker in the United Methodist Church in Pine Bluffs. She was a member of the Pastime Extension Club and a volunteer for numerous community functions, including Care and Share, which she enjoyed very much.

She is survived by a sister, Hazel (Floyd) Gensel of Pine Bluffs; brothers, Robert (Evelyn) Marquiss of Hotchkiss, Colo., Richard (Barbara) Marquiss of Pine Bluffs and sister-in-law, Ardice Marquiss of Lander. She is also survived by seven nieces and three nephews, and several great, and great-great nieces and nephews; several foster children and special foster daughter, Roni (Paul) Becker of Riverton. Also surviving are stepchildren, Ken (Loni) Rohweder of Burns, Nancy (Jerry) Schwindt of Florida, Linda (Mike) Hurt of Kansas and Glen (Nancy) Rohweder of California and several step-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delbert, and a brother, Ford A. Marquiss.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the United Methodist Church in Pine Bluffs with burial in the Pine Bluffs cemetery.

Michael J. Kailey Sr

1948-2005

Michael J. Kailey, Sr., 57, of Cheyenne died Oct. 31 in Cheyenne.

He was born June 27, 1948, in Cheyenne and lived here all of his life.

Mr. Kailey was a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines.

He was a member of the Shrine and Masons.

Mr. Kailey is survived by his wife, Beverly K. "Bev" Kailey of Cheyenne whom he married Oct. 14, 1967, in Pueblo, Colo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Jr. and Wendy Kailey of Sigurd, Utah; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shannon C. Kipf of Cheyenne and Amy L. and Bill Beck of Cheyenne; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Ronald and Donna Kailey of Cheyenne, Patrick Kailey of California, Casey and Lori Kailey of Cheyenne and Sandy Kailey of Arizona; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara Kissell of Cheyenne, Virginia and Kevin Dobbs of Cheyenne, and Sherry and Richard Walsh of Cheyenne;

and 11 grandchildren, Michael Kailey III of Sigurd, Tiffany Broad of Cheyenne, Ashley Kailey of Sigurd, Shawn Broad of Cheyenne, Ronald Kailey of Sigurd, Chelsea Kailey of Sigurd, Chase Beck of Cheyenne, Colton Beck of Cheyenne, Hanna Kailey of Sigurd, Gavin Beck of Cheyenne and Andrew Kipf of Cheyenne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Grace Kailey; a daughter, Carrie Ann Kailey; a brother, Gary Kailey, and two sisters, Charlene Krodel and Judy Kailey.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with Pastor Ed Fugate officiating.

Interment will be in Beth El cemetery.

Friends may contribute to the Shriners.

Robert C. Dandrow

1929-2005

Robert Currier "Bob" Dandrow, 76, of Cheyenne died Oct. 28 at United Medical Center - West after a 20-year battle with cancer from Agent Orange.

He was born June 26, 1929, in Montpelier, Vt., to Robert H. Dandrow and Ruth Currier Dandrow. He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and Spaulding High School in Rochester, N.H.

Mr. Dandrow joined the Army-Air Corp in 1948 and trained as a heavy equipment operator at Fort Warren. Later he became part of the new Air Force and entered the Security Police Field, where he retired in 1972 at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. He served in Vietnam, North Africa, Guam and numerous bases in the United States.

Mr. Dandrow was in charge of Law Enforcement at Warren Air Force Base in the late 1960s and early 1970s. After his retirement, he was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs as Chief of Security. He was employed 10 years at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, before being assigned to VA hospitals in Chicago, Illinois, Manhattan, N.Y., and Indianapolis.

He retired after 22 years and returned to Cheyenne in 1994. He was employed as a bailiff in district court.

Mr. Dandrow was a life member of the Air Force Security Police Association, DAV, NCOA and VFW 1881. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee, American Legion Post No. 6, Moose Lodge No. 257 and United States Bowling Congress. He bowled in senior leagues at Cowboy Lanes and Two Bar Lanes.

He is survived by his wife, the former Donna Adler-Panzrino, whom he married Aug. 1, 1982, at Warren AFB; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela Dawn and Shawn Wilson of Lander, and Michelle Marie and Keith Harris of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Wilson, Rebecca Dawn Wilson and Ryan Shawn Wilson, all of Lander; his goddaughter, Kathleen Spears of Enosburg Falls, Vt., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Dandrow; his first wife of 30 years, Evelyn "Eve" Dandrow; a brother, Herbie Dandrow; two sisters, Margaret Grant and Rose Thomas and a stepdaughter, Dolores J. Mull.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Oliver and Rev. Nadine Korhonen officiating.

Cremation will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens and private family interment of the urn will take place at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Nick Kalokathis, Fred Wilhelm, Randy Dancliff, Louis Brownstein, Shawn Wilson and Bob Curtis.

Military honors will be provided by F.E. Warren AFB.

The family asks that there be no flowers, but contributions may be made to United Medical Center Hospice or to the Dandrow family at 6900 Hawthrone Drive, Cheyenne 82009.

Visitation is 8 a.m. to noon todayat Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Robert J. Sausedo

1955-2005

Robert Jess Sausedo, 49, of Cheyenne died Oct. 29 in Cheyenne.

He was born Dec. 25, 1955, in Cheyenne.

Mr. Sausedo is survived by a daughter, Hope Sausedo of Cheyenne; sister, Vivian Martinez of Pueblo, Colo.; brothers, David Ortiz and Manuel Ortiz, both of Cheyenne; stepsister, Anita Sanchez of Cheyenne; stepbrother, George Ortiz of Cheyenne; six nephews; three nieces and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Lupe and Manuel Ortiz; his father, Charles Sausedo; and a sister, Hope Sausedo.

Funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Olivet cemetery.

Cremation has taken place.

Jack E. Gale

1940-2005

Jack Edward Gale, 65, of Cheyenne died Nov. 23 at United Medical Center - West.

He was born May 17, 1940, in Cheyenne and had lived here all of his life.

Mr. Gale served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and the U.S. Air National Guard.

He was a data processing supervisor for the Board of Public Utilities.

Mr. Gale liked fishing and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Gale of Cheyenne, whom he married December 30, 1958, in Greeley, Colo.; four children, Leora Archie of Burns, Douglas Gale, Cindy Pilch and Sandy Quinlan, all of Cheyenne; a brother, Alvin Gale of Fort Collins, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, Bryelle Matthews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Leora Gale; and a sister, Shirley Gale.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Chaplain David Hall officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Friends who wish may contribute to a charity of their choice.
