Susan McKellar

1953-2005

Susan McKellar of Cheyenne was a spirited woman full of humor and love who fought courageously to defeat the odds of cancer for eight years, but died Dec. 21 at the age of 52.

She was born Nov. 5, 1953, in Dallas.

Her life can be summed up by all that she has left behind: a job with the state of Wyoming in which she dedicated herself to keeping children safe, friends in almost every person she met, and a home with a loving family. Although Susan was a southern girl, she made her home in Wyoming.

Full of kindness, vivacity, beauty, and compassion: She loved her life and lived it to the fullest. With three young daughters, Susan constantly fought to give them the best life that she could. Deemed as an enigma in her life, she always surprised those around her with her actions. Susan loved all things peaceful: yoga, her animals, the beach, and the sunlight. Susan made an impact on all those around her with the caring radiance that surrounded her.

She was an active member of Saint Christopher's Episcopal Church, a youth group leader, and she gave to many charities.

She was an uncommonly strong person and was an example to everyone.

Family members include her mother, Alice McKellar; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Michelle McKellar; sisters, Kathleen Vincent and Pam Johns; and daughters, Nell, Grace and Mary Brown.

Services were held Dec. 24 at Saint Christopher's Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan McKellar scholarship fund at Meridian Trust Bank, 2223 Warren Ave., Cheyenne, WY 82002.
