Willoughby Buzard

1913-2006

Josephine E. Willoughby Buzard, 93, of Cheyenne, died Aug. 9 at United Medical Center in Cheyenne.

She was born on July 7, 1913, in Burns, the daughter of William and Mary Walston. She was raised on the Walston Homestead west of Burns. She was the youngest of eight children and attended Burns school. On May 6, 1930 she married Gail Willoughby.

After her husband's death in 1969, Josephine married Lee Buzard in October 1970, who preceded her in death in June 1984.

She and her husband Gail farmed for many years. After moving to Cheyenne from Burns, she worked for Safeway as a meat cutter for 20 years before her retirement.

Josephine is survived by her children, Robert Willoughby of Buffalo, Bea Cloonan Hankins of Tehachapi, Calif. and Sidney Willoughby of Cheyenne. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, a niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands; her parents William and Mary Walston; her seven siblings; her son, Alva and three grandchildren.

A graveside service is 3 p.m. Friday at Burns cemetery with the Rev. T. Gwyn Downing officiating.

Rex A. Richards

1965-2006

Rex Allen Richards, 40, of Cheyenne, formerly of Kimball, Neb., died Aug. 8 in Cheyenne.

Mr. Richards was born Nov. 18, 1965, in Lander, the son of James and Mildred (Cottam) Richards.

He moved with his family at an early age to Kimball and attended the Kimball schools.

Mr. Richards enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 17, 1986, and served during Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged Feb. 26, 1992.

After serving his country he moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and worked in a motorcycle shop. He then returned to Kimball and worked in the oil field and as a truck driver.

He married Joy Kimzey on May 28, 2005, in Kimball.

Mr. Richards loved to rebuild old pick-up trucks and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and taking family and friends for rides. His family was very important to him.

He is survived by his wife, Joy of Cheyenne; his mother, Mildred Richards of Cheyenne; three sons, Jeremy of Sidney, Neb., Jonathon of Cheyenne and Jakob of North Platte, Neb.; two daughters, Patricia and Kora, both of Cheyenne; three brothers, Randy Cottam and Bill Richards, both of Kimball, and J.J. Richards of Casper; and a sister, Sondra Tykward of Kimball.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1991.

Burial was in the Kimball cemetery. Military graveside honors were preformed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2243 of Kimball.

Memorials may be made to the family. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ronald D. Corder

1952-2006

Ronald Dean Corder, 53, of Cheyenne died Aug. 12 at United Medical Center-West.

Mr. Corder was born in Kearney, Neb., on Sept. 16, 1952, and has resided in Cheyenne since October 2005 with prior residence in Columbus, Neb.

Mr. Corder served in the United States Navy.

He is survived by two daughters, Dustin Christine Hoadley and Joey Lynn Corder, both of Cheyenne; six grandchildren; one brother, Steve Corder of Kannapolis, N.C. and one sister, Vivian Corder of Kearney, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Helen Corder.

Cremation will take place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date in Nebraska.

Thelma A. Malm

1917-2006

Thelma Alice Malm, 88, of Cheyenne died Aug. 10 at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne.

Thelma was born Oct. 17, 1917, to Frank and Ida (Lent) Wenzel at their family home near Hartville, Neb.

They moved to Banner County, Neb., when she was a young child. She married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Glenn Malm, on Nov. 30, 1940. Glenn preceded her in death on April 21, 1983.

She was a resident of Banner County until 1985 when she moved to Albin. In August 2000, she moved to Cheyenne and was a resident of Aspen Winds. She was a member of the Albin Baptist Church and served as a deaconness. Thelma was also an active member of many Bible studies in her community, sharing her love for the Lord.

Thelma's life was centered on her faith, her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Kent Malm and his wife Linda of Phoenix, Larry Malm and his wife Kathy, and Lee Malm and his wife Charlene, both of Banner County; grandchildren, Jody Malm, Michele Malm, Jennifer Weber, Todd Malm, Stacy Green, Stephanie Westfahl, Brett Malm, Shane Malm and Brennan Malm; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Bernard Wenzel of Vista, Calif.; a foster daughter, Marietta Brett of California; her special cousin and friend, Alice Mae Berryman of Cheyenne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn and; an infant granddaughter.

Per her request, private family graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Pine Bluffs cemetery. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Albin Baptist Church or the Albin Ambulance Fund.

Claire Hawn

1913-2006

Claire Hawn, 93, of Cheyenne died Aug. 24 at the Cheyenne Healthcare Center.

She was born May 15, 1913, in Carmen Creek, Idaho and had lived here for the past 24 years.

She is survived by two sons, Don J. Hickman of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Robert W. Hickman of Clarinda, Iowa; a daughter, Cheryl Hawn Thomas of Burlington, Wash.; two brothers, James Waddington of Sacramento, Calif., and Charles Waddington of Meridian, Idaho; four sisters, Jean Tomita of Salmon, Idaho, Annice Schofield of Cusick, Wash., Rose Dockter of Edmonds, Wash., and Carolyn Barsalou of Oceanside, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hawn, October 1982; a daughter, Charis Hawn Gilliam in October of 1997; parents, Watts and Elsie Claire Waddington; and four brothers, Watts, Dewayne, Phillip, and John.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Friends may send contributions to the American Cancer Society, Cheyenne Animal Shelter, or a charity of their choice.

Dr. Joseph R. Hammons

1936-2006

Dr. Joseph R. Hammons, 70, of Cheyenne, died Aug. 25 at his home in Cheyenne.

He was born March 12, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was a chiropractor.

Dr. Hammons married Darlene Raquet on May 14, 1988, in Fort Wayne, Ind. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the Kentucky Association of Chiropractors.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Hammons of Cheyenne; sons, Joseph D. Hammons of Warsaw, Ind., and Jeffrey Hammons of Van Wert, Ohio; daughter, Amy Marquardt of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; brother, Thomas Hammons of Argyle, Texas; sister, Jeanie Scherschel of Allen, Texas; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Virgil and Mary (Ault) Hammons; one infant brother and one infant sister.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Harold Hampton officiating.

Cremation is taking place at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.

Edward Sitzman

1911-2006

Edward Sitzman, 95, of Tempe, Ariz., and died Aug. 26, in Tempe. He resided in Tempe with his daughter, Karen Horak.

He was born on May 12, 1911, in Ft. Collins, Colo.

He married Pauline Robbins in Kimball, Neb., on July 3, 1932.

Edward worked as a Safeway Meat Department Manager for more than 50 years in Ft. Collins, Loveland, Colo., and in Cheyenne. After retiring from Safeway in 1981 he enjoyed driving cars for Halladay Motors in Cheyenne.

Edward survived by a son, Duane Sitzman of Ft. Collins; two daughters, Shirley Flanagan and her husband, Russ of Whitewater, Colo., and Karen Horak and her husband, Don of Tempe; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years; his parents, Jacob and Charolette Sitzman; four brothers, Adolph, John, Jake and Rhiney; three sisters, Baby Esther, Lydia, and Esther Charolette and two great-grandchildren, Tami Sitzman and Sean Flanagan.

A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive, Ft. Collins, followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Grandview cemetery in Ft. Collins. The Rev. Paul McGraw will officiate at the graveside.

Harold W. Patton

1925-2006

Harold William Patton, 81, a long time resident of Cheyenne passed away Aug. 29, at the VA Medical Center.

He was born May 8, 1925, in Jackson, Mich.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the famous 5th Infantry Regiment with General Patton's third army.

He was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal, the Bronze Star Medal with four stars, the Infantry Badge, the Honorable Service Lapel Button and the American Defense Medal. His work experience varied from working as a tank truck operator for the Forest Service in California, a logger in Oregon, a taxicab driver in Cheyenne, a roustabout in the oil fields in California and as a grounds keeper at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne.

He is survived by his three daughter's, Kathryn Louise Patton of Cheyenne, Patricia Ann Daugherty of Laurel, Md., and Susan Marie Sannar of Montesano, Wash.; his sons, George David Patton of Cheyenne and William Calville Patton of Bakersfield, Calif.; his sister, Babette Patton of Sutton's Bay, Mich.; his brother, Thomas Patton of Rolitte, N.D.; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Inez Mae Patton; his infant daughter, Florence Irene Patton; his son, Patrick Allan Patton; his nephew, Joshua William Patton; his father, George C. Patton; his mother, Mary Edith Williamson; his sister, Esther Marie Ferguson; and his brother, George Russell Patton.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel Of The Chimes with Rev. Delbert Hansen officiating.

Interment to follow at Beth El cemetery. Casket bearers are William C. Patton, George D. Patton, and Michael A. Daugherty.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Our father will be greatly missed; our love and memories for him will carry us through all the years to come. Rest in peace dad, we love you.

William C. Ryan

1939-2006

William Carroll "Bill" Ryan, 66, of Cheyenne died Aug. 26 at his home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Cheyenne and had lived here most of his life.

Bill served in the Wyoming Air National Guard where he achieved the rank of senior master sergeant and was called to active duty during the Gulf War.

Bill attended the American College of Forensic Examiners, Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy Coroners Basic Training, Homeland Security Weapons of Mass Destruction courses, FBI Terrorism courses and achieved a Level 3 Homeland Security Certification. He served as the Laramie County Coroner for the last 16 years and was a Wyoming licensed embalmer and a funeral director for Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel Of The Chimes for over 40 years.

Bill was the past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 801, Past Faithful Navigator of Knights of Columbus Assembly 1223, past president of Cheyenne Kiwanis Club, and past Lt. Governor of Kiwanis Division 13. He was also a member of the Wyoming State Coroners Board, American Legion Post 6, and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Christine L. (Garcia) Ryan of Cheyenne, whom he married March 18, 1978, in Cheyenne; his father, Frederick L. "Fred" Ryan of Cheyenne; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas K. and Kim Ryan of Northglenn, Colo.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shannon M. Ryan of Cheyenne and Kerry C. "K.C." and Todd Jochim of Lakeside, Mont.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry and Gene Nelson of Cheyenne and Joyce and Howard Holmstrom of Arvada, Colo.; six grandchildren, Ryan, Noah, Haley, and Logan Jochim, all of Lakeside, and Taylor and Kennedy Ryan, both of Northglenn.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Maurine G. Ryan and a son, Timothy P. Ryan.

Vigil for the deceased will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Bishop David L. Ricken officiating.

Funeral liturgy will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Bishop Joseph Hart as the celebrant.

Casket bearers are Russ Zasadil, Tim George, Ron Kisicki, Lucky Burback, Marc Thayer, and Ron Sargent.

Honorary casket bearers are all of his friends.

Military honors will be provided by the Wyoming Air National Guard.

Cremation will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Services are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel Of The Chimes.

Friends may send contributions in his memory to the Hospice Davis Foundation or the Kiwanis Foundation.

Charles B. Terrell

1928-2006

Charles "Charlie," Bryce Terrell, 78, of Cheyenne, died Sept. 15, peacefully in his home.

He was born May 25, 1928 in El Paso, Texas, to Charles Alexander Terrell and Addie Ella (Hust) Terrell.

Charles Sr. was a railroader and Charlie and his siblings spent time living in Texas and New Mexico. Charlie spent part of his early years in New Mexico on a ranch with his grandmother, Alice Rose (Skinner) Hust. He was educated in Houston School and Austin High School, El Paso, graduating in 1946. While in high school, Charlie was affiliated with FFA. Charlie was an employee of Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company (later known as Mountain Bell) in El Paso and New Mexico. He held various positions in the plant and marketing department and was named Outstanding Salesman in El Paso Marketing in 1964. In 1967, Charlie transferred to Laramie, and was in charge of communications for the University of Wyoming. In 1970, he transferred to Laramie to Cheyenne and retired as a staff manager for safety in seven states.

Charlie had numerous nicknames, including Chuck, Chas Bo and Son

Charlie is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jacqueline Louise (Conner) Terrell; daughter, Daphne Diane (Terrell) Ramey, her husband, Mark and their children, Stetson Buck, Remington Steele and Allegra Doe, all of Cheyenne; sons, Charles Terrell, his wife, Carla Denise (Keel) and daughters, Whitney Nichole and Kaitlyn Carley of Arkansas, and Toby Leigh Terrell, his wife, Lisa Marie (Boyce), and son, Robert Casey and daughter, Kelli Kayleen, of Pinedale; stepson, Christopher Todd Hout, his wife, Donna Marie (Havens) and sons, Garrett Lee, Austin Dean and Casey Todd, all of Cheyenne; sisters, Elgeva (Terrell) Cantrill and Hope Collette (Terrell) Sanderson; brother, Don Leigh Terrell, all of El Paso, Texas, and sister, Sharon Faith (Terrell) Soper of Georgia.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Rex Terrell.

Charlie was blessed to have loving care and support provided by Billy Slagle, Diane Slagle, Katherine (Katie) Barbour and many caring members of Jackie's family and several devoted friends.

As a special gift, Charlie donated his body to science. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes. Memorial contributions can be made to United Medical Center Hospice.

Honorary pallbearers are Pete Poteet, Don Sallee, Al Gillen and Maurice Oestereich.
