Anna Scott

LANDER – Anna Scott, 90, passed away on Dec. 12 at Northwest Hospital of Oro Valley, Ariz. in Tucson, Ariz.

Anna was the mother to Paul (Emma and Thom) Scott of Worland.

Services are being held in Lander on Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home in Lander.

Caroleen Ann Nicholson

CODY – Caroleen Ann Nicholson, 73, died Dec. 18.

Caroleen was born to Erwin and Nellie Crook on Feb. 9, 1934, in Great Bend, Kan., where she attended grade school. Her family later moved to Cody where she graduated from the Cody High School. She met and married Robert Nicholson, and together they raised their six children on a farm in Burlington.

In 1991, they returned to Cody to retire and enjoy their family and friends.

Caroleen loved to travel and spend time with friends, but she loved her family and her Lord Jesus more than anything else.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Vanita, her first son, Larry, son-in-law, Brian Edwards and by her husband, Robert.

Caroleen is survived by children, Peggy (Jonathan) Peters, George (Kelly) Nicholson, Nancy Johnson, Jerry (Monica) Nicholson, Jim (Sarah) Nicholson and Mary (Cleve) Kingen; 22 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial of her life will be held at Victory Fellowship Church on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon following.

Gerald C. VanNorman

THERMOPOLIS — Gerald C. VanNorman, 90, died Saturday, Dec. 15 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis.

Mr. VanNorman was born April 30, 1917 in Basset, Neb., the son of Raymond and Edith (Frye) VanNorman. In the oil drilling business all his life until retirement, he came to the Salt Creek Field at the age of 16. He lived many places while following oil field work. During WW II, he was deferred to the Weston Rig Company building derricks for the duration of the war.

He then started his own successful drilling company, Van Norman Drilling, in Thermopolis where he met Zola Ruth Skidmore. They married in Thermopolis, May 10, 1968.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Wanda Riley, infant son; sister, Lois Brown, brother, Eldon VanNorman; three great grandsons and two grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years; son, Jerry of Midwest; daughter, Pat Reich of Brush, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

At his request, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place.

Mortimore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vicki Herrera

WORLAND — Vicki Herrera, 37, died in Billings at Billings Clinic on Dec. 19 following a short illness.

Vicki was born on Jan. 25, 1970 in Worland, daughter of Frank and Francis (Lopez) Alcaraz. She graduated from Worland High School in 1988. On Nov. 21, 1988 she was married to Raymundo T. Herrera and they have made their home in Worland for the past 19 years. To this union were born five children.

Vicki worked for a time in house keeping at East Side Elementary School and then for Absaroka Head start as a teacher’s aid. She was very involved with her children’s education. She volunteered many hours in their classrooms and was a kindergarten volunteer working as a teacher in the Spanish program for many years. She also worked at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. She loved helping others any way she could.

Vicki loved being in the outdoors with her family, fishing, sledding, 4-wheeling, working in her garden and tending her flowers. She could be found helping and watching the sporting events her children were involved with. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother Francis Alcaraz, two sisters, Rosemary and Ester Alcaraz.

Vicki is survived by her husband, Raymundo of Worland; father, Frank Alcaraz of Worland; children; Jorge, Reene, Jose, David and Yesenia, all of Worland; second parents Duane & Diana Riedel of Worland; brothers and sisters, Benny G. White, San Diego, Calif., Alice (Doug) Nickels , Las Vegas, Nev., Phillip Alcaraz, Worland, David Alcaraz, Worland, Gloria Alcaraz Cheyenne, Daniel Alcaraz Sr., Las Vegas, Nev., Helen Motl, Las Vegas, Nev, Ben (Loretta) Alcaraz Worland, Rachel (Jesus) Zubia Burlington, Michael Alcaraz, Worland, Angela Villacis Worland and Daniel & Matthew Riedel of Worland. Also many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 from St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Father Jim Heiser officiating. Rosary service will be held, Friday evening 7 p.m. at St Mary Magdalen. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery in Worland.

Memorial donation may be made in the children’s name in care of Bryant Funeral Home PO Box 524 Worland, WY 82401.

Robert James Dietz

WORLAND — Robert James Dietz, 73, died at his home on Dec. 21, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Edgar, Mont. on Nov. 9, 1934 to Jacob and Pauline (Schleining) Dietz. He attended school in Bridger, Mont. and was active in many sports. He graduated high school from Bridger High. Following high school, Bob farmed with his folks and then went to work for Bice Trucking Line as a mechanic.

On May 17, 1957 he married Dolores Frank in Red Lodge, Mont. That same year, Bob and Dolores moved to Worland where they later formed a partnership with Mel and Lois Dietz, “OK Rubberwelders” which later became “Mels OK Tire Inc.” Dolores passed away on Feb. 26, 1996. Bob later married Angie Batt on Feb. 6, 2001 in Bullhead City, Ariz. They continued to make their home in Worland.

Bob was an avid sports fan, enjoying sports at the local high school, state and professional levels. Camping was a favorite pastime and he was an active supporter of the Ag Community. He also loved to garden and was the main supplier of sweet corn to our community. The sweet corn was planted and tended by him and then picked and sold by his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores, his sisters, Ella Boucher, Edith Dietz, Viola Foust and brothers, Arthur, Chris, Harold and Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Angie; children, Lori (Brent) Brown of Dickinson, N.D., Frank (Tori) Dietz, Shellie (Jim) Miller, all of Worland; stepsons, Terry (Donna) and Darren Batt; brother Mel Dietz of Worland; sisters, Evelyn Coe of Billings, Violet Davis of Calif., Barb Long of Laurel, Mont., Betty Martinson of Forsyth, Mont.; grandchildren, Marissa (Jason) Satkunam, Angela and Joey Miller, Derrick, Bryan and Kylee Brown; step-grandchildren, Tobi Brown, James, Chance, Hunter Batt, and Kadi Peterson.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Worland with Reverend Ralph Partelow officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Kenneth Lee Fernandez

PINEDALE — Kenneth Lee Fernandez, 50, passed away Saturday evening, April 26 in an automobile accident in Marbleton, Wyo.

Kenneth was born Jan. 2, 1958 in Worland to Rudy and Ruth (Layva) Fernadez. He attended school in Worland and graduated from Washakie County High School.

As a young man he was a talented athlete who enjoyed baseball, track, football and basketball and he won several awards and ribbons. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

He moved to the Denver, Colo. area and worked as a carpenter for many years until he made his way back to Wyoming to live and work in Sublette County.

He is preceded in death by his two brothers, Jimmy John Fernandez and Calvin Richard Fernandez.

He is survived by his mother Ruth Haselhuhn of Marbleton, Wyo; father, Rudy Fernandez of Worland; brother, Wayne Neal Fernandez of Cheyenne; two nephews and four great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Worland, Wyoming.

He will be laid to rest in Worland in a family plot with his brothers. Arrangements are under the direction of Covill Funeral Home.

Harry Kindel

SALOME, ARIZ. — Harry Kindel, 81, passed away on March 20, 2008.

He was born in Centralia, IL on March 11, 1927 to Author and Sadie Kindel. Harry graduated from Sandoval High School in 1944. Harry and Ramona moved to Wyoming in 1946 to raise their three children in Worland and Basin.

Harry and Ramona ran Kindel’s Antiques and Paint store for 18 years in Basin.

Harry is preceded in death by his wife Ramona Kindel of 61 years; his parents; and his three brothers and three sisters.

Harry is survived by one daughter, Sherry Kindel of Salome, Ariz.; two sons, Randy Kindel of Phoenix, Ariz. and Rodney Kindel of Cody, Wyo. He had seven grandchildren, Kim Siem, Heather Kliber, Tisha Farrell, Barbara McMains, Mona Nolan, Shane Kindel, Randy Kindel and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held in Salome where he and Ramona had made their home for the last 16 years, but came back to Wyoming to be Camp Host in the Cody area during the summer.

Graveside services will be in Cody some time later in August.

Marcella Marie “Marcy” Lauters

THERMOPOLIS — Marcella Marie “Marcy” Lauters, 75, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 26 at her residence, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in June1932, in Dickenson, N.D., the daughter of Jack and Katherine (Roeder) Wanner. She moved to Thermopolis in 1962. In June of 1964 she married R.J. Lauters in Thermopolis.

Marcy worked as a waitress and finished her career as a bartender at the Eagles Club where she made many friends.

A member of the Eagles Auxiliary, she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading, the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Leander and Theodore; and husband, R.J.

Survivors include three daughters, Jill (Ron) Wright of Casper, Shelley (Mesut) Lauters of North Palm Beach, Fla. and Becky Weides of Thermopolis; sisters, Shirley, Rita, Germaine and Angela; brothers, Kenneth and Victor; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at Mortimore Funeral Home in Thermopolis. Cal Voigt will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Monument Hill cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizen Center, 206 Senior Ave.,Thermopolis, 82443.

Cecile Katherine Ludicke

WORLAND — Cecile Katherine Ludicke, 96, passed away May 6, 2008 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Cecile was born on Aug. 14, 1911 in Harvard, Clay County, Neb. to John and Margaret (Deines) Hohnstein.

She graduated from Worland High School in 1930. She worked for Reed’s Drug Store in Worland and then became a telephone operator for Mountain Bell Telephone Company where she was the chief operator for a short time. On Jan. 4, 1947 she married Rex Ludicke in Red Lodge, Mont. Rex passed away in 1990. Cecile moved to the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in October of 2001.

Cecile loved to read and watch television. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elizabeth Troseth; brothers, George, Lawrence and Harry Hohnstein; and step-sisters, Genevieve, Clara and Tina.

She is survived by one nephew, Jack Troseth of Worland; a great-nephew, John Troseth, Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; and a great-niece, Kathryn Snook of Missoula, Mont.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 12 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel in Worland. The cremains will be placed in the Columbarium at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church following the services. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine Patricia “Pat” Wallingford

THERMOPOLIS — Geraldine Patricia “Pat” Wallingford, 85, died Wednesday, May 7 in Thermopolis surrounded by family after a courageous battle with old age.

She was born March 18, 1923 in Red Lodge, Mont., the daughter of Michel J. and Maggie (McKeone) McCabe. As her mother died when she was young, her father, brothers and sisters, especially Margaret, assisted in her upbringing. She attended and graduated from Red Lodge high school in May 1941. She then attended St. Scholastica School of Nursing in Duluth, Minn. on a five years degree scholarship program.

Due to the shortage of nurses during WW II, the government started The Nurse Corps. Planning to be an Army nurse, she transferred to Billings St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, graduating in August 1945. The war ended three days before she graduated. She worked at the Billings Hospital and Red Lodge Clinic before coming to Thermopolis in 1945 where she was a nurse at the hospital on the hill. She later was employed at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital, then became Director of Nursing at the Wyoming Pioneer Home until retirement.

On Oct. 23, 1948 she married John Norman Wallingford in Thermopolis. They resided in Thermopolis and were married for 55 years. Pat worked along side Norman on the family ranch with brandings and ranch duties. They also enjoyed fishing together.

She was an active member of the Catholic Church Altar Society and bible study. She was an original member of the Holy Cats, singing and performing for 15 years. A caring person, she was a caregiver to many. Her hobbies included Brazilian embroidery, reading, swimming, pinochle, dancing and visiting with friends. Her sense of humor will be remembered by many.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Tom and James McCabe; two sisters, Margaret Hoehn and Helen Huntington; and her husband, 2003.

Survivors include her son, Doug (Cindy) Wallingford of Thermopolis; daughters, Kathy Wallingford of Thermopolis and Connie (Mike) Lohse of Kaycee, Wyo.; three grandsons, Shiloh Wallingford of Cody, Clint Lohse of Washington, D.C. and Reo Lohse of Kaycee; two granddaughters, Amber Wallingford of Thermopolis and Sadie Eckley of Rock Springs; and great grandchild, Tymber Eckley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Monument Hill cemetery. A Parish Vigil will be Sunday evening, 7 p.m. at the church. Father Hugo Blotsky will officiate.

Eugene “Gene” Edward Rogina

LUSK — Eugene “Gene” Edward Rogina, 48, passed away Monday, June 9 at his home in Lusk from a heart attack.

Gene was born to Edward and Selma Rogina in Lusk on June 5, 1960. He received his education from the Lusk schools graduating from Niobrara County High School. He attended college in Torrington and Phoenix, Ariz.

He spent his life-long career in the medical field helping others, as well as being a strong advocate of Help Mate since the organization’s beginnings in Lusk.

He was preceded in death by both parents; a sister, Delores Felzien; and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by sister, Nina Achenbach of Sultan, Wash.; brother, Sonny DeSersal; and sisters, Arlene Smith and Evie and her husband Monte Gerber of Worland; Kathy Brown of Big Springs, Neb., Liz Ogle of Brush, Colo., Doris Johnson and her husband PeeWee of Meadowdale, Wyo.; and Carrie Kraft and husband Don of Lusk; cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, June 13 at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds in Lusk with Pastor Tom Strock officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Help Mate or the Niobrara Health and Life Center.

Jeanne Marie Jorgensen

LANDER — Jeanne Marie Jorgensen, 60, died June 11 at Lander Regional Hospital after a short illness.

She was oldest of four children born to Leonard and Marian Jorgensen. Jeanne was born Nov. 30 1947 in Murdo, S.D. She lived at the Wyoming State Training School for 38 years. Jeanne enjoyed horseback riding, swimming and outings into the community. Jeanne was one of Gods special Angels.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her father, Leonard; and sister Judith Ann.

She is survived by her mother of Powell; brother, Joseph and wife Gina of Evanston; sister, Patricia (Marvin) Nelson of Cody; and four nieces and one nephew.

Services will be Tuesday, June 17 at 2 p.m. at the WSTS Chapel, with interment to follow at WSTS. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any contributions be sent to the Special Services Fund at WSTS, 8204 WY Hwy 789, Lander, WY 82520.

Herbert "Rooster" Warren Brinkerhoff

WORALND — Herbert "Rooster" Warren Brinkerhoff, of Worland, passed away suddenly July 15, 2008 on his 62nd birthday.

He was born in Greybull on July 1, 1946 to Merlin Silas and Geraldine Susie (Walker) Brinkerhoff. He was raised on a farm on little dry creek in Greybull. Herb received his education in Greybull and graduated from Greybull High School in 1966.

On May 25, 1972 Herb married Linda Kay Ingersoll and to that union were born six children They later divorced and he then married Pamela Joann Alonzo on Apr. 19, 1994.

Herb dedicated 28 years of service to Admiral Beverage before retiring in 2006. Herb was a member of the NRA, he enjoyed hunting and loved to garden and to those passerby's Herb was always out on his swing ready to give a friendly wave. Herb enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also known to give everyone he came into contact with something to laugh about.

Herb is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pamela, his brother Robert, and a nephew Merlin.

Herb is survived by his 6 children Warren (Kari), Hope (Ron), Guy, Daniel (Lori), Autumn, Phillip (Stormy); 3 step children, Christina, Joe, and Richard; 11 grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren. Herb is also survived by his girlfriend Ethel "Tink" Keller, sisters Becky (Bill) Welden, Julie (Larry) McDonald, Loretta (Derald) Portenier, and brothers Lonnie, Merlin (Gloria), and step-father Ed Davis.

A celebration of life will be held Friday July 18 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel in Worland. Please come and share your stories of Herb with family and friends. Herb's final resting place will be in the Hilltop cemetery in Greybull resting next to his wife Pamela. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William (Bill) H. Cook

WORLAND — William (Bill) H. Cook, 82, Worland resident, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on July 13, 2008.

Bill was born on Aug. 1, 1925 in Riverton to Joseph and Anna (Joergens) Cook. Ann passed away when Bill was six years old. He was raised by his father and step-mother Alma, which he considered his mother.

During Bill’s youth he had been very sick, at age 18 he finished the 10th grade. He then enlisted in the Merchant Marines serving his country during WWII from August 1943 to April 1946. He served as a cook on a freighter. Years later he also received his honorable discharge from the Coast Guard.

He moved to the Missouri Valley where he worked on a family farm. It was here that he met Bonnie Lund and they were married on June 30, 1948.

Bill’s career took him back to Riverton where he began working at the airport as a station agent, he moved to Worland nine years later where he became the Airport Manager for the next 23 years retiring in 1982. He then managed the bowling alley until 1988.

Bill’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling and listening to country music. He had the honor of receiving his GED from high school just a couple of years ago.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie in April of 2004, and step-sister Ruth Smith.

He is survived by his daughter DiAnn Butler of Thermopolis, niece Tess Piercy, extended family, Dick and Lily Lund, Janis and Earl Haggerty, Mary and Marty Hoffmann, Curt and Alice Lund and Keith Fellon.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Worland with Pastor Grover Briggs officiating. Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date at the Riverton cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion to help build a park Gazebo in care of Bryant Funeral Home PO Box 524 Worland, WY 82401.

Bessie K. Pearl Jackson

CASPER — Bessie K. Pearl Jackson, 55, former Worland resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at Life Care Center in Casper of cancer.

She was born Aug. 23, 1953 in Worland to Gilbert and Margaret (Nelson) Pearl. Mrs. Jackson was a certified nursing assistant for CES.

She married Melvin Jackson in October 1998 in Worland.

Mrs. Jackson enjoyed knitting, fishing, camping and spending time with her grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband; son Jason of Casper; sisters Martha of Cowley and Karen of Casper; brothers Frank of Riverton and Robert of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one grandson.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Casper.

Memorials may be made to her grandson, Joshua Pearl c/o Reliant Federal Credit Union, 7777 Landmark Drive, Casper, WY 82609.

Richard L. “Rick” Anderson

GREYBULL – Richard L. “Rick” Anderson, 38, of Greybull died at his mother’s home in Greybull on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008.

Rick was born in Great Falls, Mont. on Feb. 6, 1970.

He attended junior high school in Gunnison, Colo. where he often would say, “These were the best years of my life,” and truly they were. While in high school, he was well known for his sports expertise and talents in both basketball and football. He was first chair clarinetist and could look and sing so much like Elvis one couldn’t tell the difference unless up close.

Rick later became known for his very large, tender heart and would do without to do for others if they needed something worse. If a child was involved, the sky was the limit. He never asked for anything in return for his many acts of kindness. His goal was to become a master chef and own his own restaurant after he was well. All who knew him well knew of his “mean” hamburger and enjoyed every bite of it.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard, formerly of Great Falls, Mont.; his maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Mildred Anderson of Cowley; and paternal grandmother.

He is survived by and will be sorely missed by his mother, Barbara Anderson and his nephew, Matt Franken; his sisters, Susan (Ralph) Weber of Aurora, Colo., Christine (Ron) DeMille, D.D. (Kent) DeMille of Sandy, Utah and Jackie (Reo) Olson of Bluffdale, Utah; his brother, Brian Johnson of West Jordan, Utah; and several other nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Monday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. in Greybull with Pastor Becky Anderson presiding.

Cremation has taken place.
