Kenneth Darco

Kenneth R. Darco, 49, of Sheridan died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in the VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Family Life Center with the Rev. Kent Bahruth officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Darco was born Aug. 16, 1952, in Portland, Ore., to Richard N. and Barbara Jean (Christian) Darco. The family moved around the United States to various military installations and spent a year in Panama. He attended Washington High School in Denver, then enlisted in the Army in 1969. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He lived in Sheridan after his service, and married Dorothy Parker here in January 1995. He enjoyed typing and composing poetry and was a member of Family Life Center. He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; a daughter, Melissa Marie of Oregon; his father of North Carolina; a brother, Richard N. Darco Jr. of Seattle; a sister, Debra J. Darco of Portland; and nine step-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank in Sheridan.

Frank Collier

Former Sheridan resident Frank Robert Collier, 43, of Sundance died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, in a logging accident outside Sundance. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel in Sundance with the Rev. Gary Maier officiating. Mr. Collier was born Jan. 31, 1958, in Laramie to Roy and Gaydell (Maier) Collier. He was a 1976 graduate of Laramie High School and attended Sheridan College, receiving an associate of science degree. He graduated from the University of Wyoming. Survivors include his parents of Sundance; two brothers, Sam of Albany, Ore., and Fred of Eugene, Ore.; and a sister, Jenny Gilbertson of Sundance. Memorials may be made to the Insured Loggers Fund, Humane Society of the Black Hills, Sundance Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Services, the Farrall Fire Zone or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Murray Jenrich

Murray Jenrich, 71, of Sheridan died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home with Pastors Douglas Goodwin and Tony Forman co-officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mary Jane Heiman

Former Sheridan resident Mary Jane Heiman, 80, of Casper died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, after a short illness. At her request, there will be no service. Bustard’s Funeral Home & Crematory of Casper is handling arrangements. Mrs. Heiman was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Sheridan to Lester Raymond Tyson and Valentine (Roberts) Tyson. She graduated from Sheridan High School. She married Robert Heiman in 1948. They spent most of their married life in Casper but lived briefly in Worland. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking bread and gardening. She worked seasonally for many years for the Natrona County treasurer, licensing automobiles. She was preceded in death by her husband in December and by a sister, Sue Amen. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Parsons of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Ray Tyson of Vine Grove, Ky.; a sister, Patricia Moncini in Issaquah, Wash.; and two grandchildren. A donation may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Lee Sams

Lee R. Sams, 72, of the Bay Horse, Mont., area died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Mr. Sams was brother of Ethel Hansen, Irene O’Daniels and Betty Ross, all of Sheridan. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Mr. Sams was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Crosby, N.D., to Ernest and May (Flory) Sams. The family came to Wyoming when he was a child, and he attended rural schools. He ranched with his father for a while. He married Virginia Bates in 1948. Mr. Sams ranched his whole life in the Bay Horse area. He married Sally Ferguson Feb. 10, 1994, in Miles City, Mont. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and his horses and cows. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd, and a sister, Dorothy DeWitt. Other survivors include his wife of Bay Horse; three sons, Harry “Skeet” of Riverside, Calif., James of Bay Horse and William Buckendahl of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; four stepsons, Robert Ferguson of Circle Pine, Minn., Tony Ferguson of Elko, Nev., Paul Ferguson of Miles City, and Donald Ferguson of Lakeside, Calif.; two brothers, Calvin of Gillette and Donald of Ephrata, Wash.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. Memorials may benefit the Leukemia Foundation in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Ruth Redle

Ruth Rita Postlewait Redle, 86, of Sheridan died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Rosary services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home. Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church with Monsignor Eugene Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Mrs. Redle was born Oct. 5, 1914, in Independence, Mo., to Gilbert Gear and Nellie Herson Postlewait. She was a 1932 graduate of Saint Mary’s Academy in Leavenworth, Kan., and attended Kansas City College two years. She continued her education studying voice at Cranston School of Music in Kansas City, Mo. She married William D. Redle Oct. 3, 1938, in Independence. They moved to Sheridan. Mrs. Redle volunteered at Holy Name School for many years and helped Mr. Redle schedule accommodations and entertain visiting athletic teams. She taught seventh- and eighth-grade gym classes at Holy Name for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary Board of Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County and for many years was in charge of Christmas decorating at the hospital. She also volunteered at the reception desk. Her performance in the lead role of the 1952 Civic Theater Guild production, “The Pleasure of his Company,” helped earn the Guild’s Best Actress Award that year. She also was a past grand prize winner in the Cowbelles’ Cook-off competition. She enjoyed needlework, reading, cooking, flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 5; and by an infant daughter, Kathleen, and two brothers, James and Robert Postlewait. Survivors include a daughter, Maurita Meehan of Sheridan; a sister, Sister Maurita Postlewait of Leavenworth; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Holy Name Catholic School Foundation or the Dog and Cat Shelter Building Fund in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Marty Lange

Marty Lange, 65, of Sheridan died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at her residence. A memorial service will be announced later. The family is handling arrangements. Mrs. Lange was born in June 1936 in Minnesota to Margaret and H. Leigh Scruton. She married Ron Sjolin in 1955; they later divorced. She married Ted Lange in Sheridan in 1984. They later divorced but remained friends until his death in 2000. She was preceded in death by two children, Jody and Jeff. Survivors include children Teree “Sunshine” Wells, Kim Zimmerman, Eric Sjolin and Janelle Dinnitz; four brothers, Bob, John, Gary and Jim Scruton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Florence Smith

Former Sheridan resident Florence Belus Smith, 67, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange, Calif. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 21, 1933, to Joseph and Helen (Kobielusz) Belus in Sheridan. After high school, she obtained a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix. She worked as a registered nurse. She enjoyed traveling and the arts, loved roses and collected paperweights. Survivors include two sons, Michael Smith of Silverado Canyon, Calif., and Omar Smith of Phoenix; two daughters, Theresa “Teri” Roberts of Santa Ana, Calif., and Denise Stenzel of Bozeman, Mont.; her mother of Sheridan; two brothers, James Belus of Sheridan and Robert Belus of Banner; and six grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Ruth Redle

Ruth R. Redle, 86, of Sheridan died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Rosary services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church with Monsignor Eugene Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Lee Sams

Lee R. Sams, 75, of Bay Horse, Mont., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Viewing will be 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Harry Stuckenhoff

BUFFALO — Harry Edward Stuckenhoff, 60, of Buffalo died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, in a vehicle accident. A celebration of life will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at his ranch, 149 Robinson Canyon Road south of Buffalo. A private family interment will be on the ranch. Arrangements are with Adams Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Terrorist Attack Victims’ Fund in care of Adams Funeral Home.

Cathy McCormack

Former Sheridan resident Cathy Dena McCormack, 36, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, in Marana, Ariz. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Evergreen cemetery in Tucson, Ariz. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday. Ms. McCormack was born Oct. 18,1964, to D’Aun and Kenneth McCormack. She was a 1983 graduate of Sheridan High School. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother of Tucson; two sons, Colten Scott McCormack and Branson Chance McCormack; and a sister, Becky Saucerman, of Tea, S.D.

Harry Williams

BANNER — Harry A. Williams, 70, of Banner died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at his home. Visitation will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Congregational Church with Pastor Bob Miller officiating.

Cecil R. Randolph Sr.

Cecil R. Randolph Sr., 64, of Sheridan died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Anselmo officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery, Eagles section. Mr. Randolph was born Jan. 8, 1937, in Carbondale, Calif., to Walter and Annie (Taylor) Randolph. He grew up in California and graduated from high school in Iona, Calif. He married his first wife, Sherlyn, in the early 1960s. They later divorced. Mr. Randolph moved to Sheridan in 1977 where he worked as a welder for Decker Coal Co. He married Jill Petry Aug. 13, 1990, in Hardin, Mont. He retired from Decker Coal in 2000. The past president and trustee of Eagles Lodge #186 enjoyed four-wheelers, hunting, fishing, camping with his family and being in the Big Horn Mountains. He also enjoyed his grandchildren. Mr. Randolph was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Cecil “Butch” Randolph Jr.; and a sister, Iris Bishop. Survivors are his wife, Jill Randolph, of Sheridan; daughters Cynthia Sharp of Montana, Caren Achenbach of Arkansas and Catherine Randolph of Texas; stepsons Nicholas and Richard Petry of Billings, and Steven Petry of Rapid City; brothers Stanley and Art Rudolph of Ione, Calif., and Leonard Rudolph of Plymouth, Calif.; sisters Pearl Maxwell of Ione, and Goldie Smith of Silver Springs, Nev.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may benefit Eagles Lodge #186 building fund, P.O. Box 2031, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Richard Kay Tanner

CASPER — Richard Kay Tanner, 57, died Dec. 22, 2001, at his home in Sheridan of natural causes. Services are 9 a.m. Saturday at Bustard’s Funeral Home by Capts. Keith and Linda Bottjen of the Salvation Army. Mr. Tanner was born July 23, 1944, in Price, Utah, to Reed B. and Kathleen (Curtis) Tanner. He graduated from Lander Vocational High School. He managed the Golden Steer restaurant in Sheridan at the time of his death. He had also managed restaurants in the Casper and Thermopolis areas. His hobbies included camping and fishing, and he especially enjoyed being the chuck wagon “chef” for cattle drives. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Donald Ball of Moab, Utah; two brothers, Gary Tanner of Havre, Mont., and Lynn of Murreta, Calif.; a sister, Shirley Brisbin of Denver; two daughters, Alannah Wellborn of Casper and Brandie Orchard of Jackson; two sons, Gregory and Jeffrey Tanner, both of Casper; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials are suggested to the Tanner Memorial Fund at Bustard’s Funeral Home and Crematory, 600 CY Ave., Casper.

Trey Garrett Redder

TORRINGTON — Trey Garrett Redder, 21, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at his home in Torrington. He was grandson of Helen Redder of Sheridan. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Torrington with the Rev. Dale McQueen officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View cemetery. Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington was in charge of cremation arrangements. He was born Sept. 30, 1980, in Casper to Don and Cheryl Redder. In addition to his paternal grandmother, survivors include a son, Jaeden Trey; his father and step-mother, Don and Barb Redder of Gillette; his mother, Cheryl Redder of Torrington; a sister, Desiree Garcia; maternal grandparents Herb and Thea Comin, Torrington; and cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Vernon M. Redder, and a cousin. Memorials are suggested to “Santa’s Helpers,” c/o Madden Brothers of Torrington.

Vivian Boucher

TUCSON, Ariz. — Vivian Boucher, 86, former longtime resident of Sheridan, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at her home. No services are planned. Arrangements are through Bring Funeral Chapel in Tucson. Her remains will be cremated. She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Lemberg, Saskatchewan, Canada, to the Rev. George W. and Elise Pust. She married Leonard Harold Boucher April 22, 1945, in Renton, Wash. He died Oct. 19, 1992. She was a federal librarian for many years, retiring from White Sands Missile Range, N.M. She also taught. She was awarded a lifetime membership in the Wyoming PTA for her work in establishing the library at Woodland Park School in Sheridan. She was a published author and award-winning composer of stories, poems and songs. She penned the school song for Woodland Park. She belonged to Twenty-Second Street Baptist Church in Tucson. Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Miles Gregory Boucher of Liberal, Kan., and Bryce Emory Boucher of Tucson; one grandson; two stepsons, Desmond Leonard Boucher of Spokane, Wash., and Ronald Rex Boucher of Kirkland, Wash.; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister.

Malcolm I. Bucher

Malcolm I. Bucher, 82, Sheridan, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Born May 27, 1919, in Alva to Ivan and Nina Bucher, he grew up and attended school in Hulett and Belle Fourche, S.D., graduating from Belle Fourche High School in 1938.Mr. Bucher owned and operated service stations in Hulett, Sundance, Newcastle and Greybull before moving to Dayton, where he owned and operated a service station and campground. He then moved to Sheridan, where he owned the Gulf station and delivered mail to Parkman and Pass Creek before retiring. He belonged to First Baptist Church in Hulett. He married Eileen Hauber on Jan. 5, 1941, in Broadus, Mont. She died in 1983. He married Helen Jervis in November 1983 in Casper. A brother and sister also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of Casper; two daughters, Lydia Ann Roloff of Richmond, Va., and Dianna Lynn Stevenson of Sheridan; a brother, Dean Bucher of Aladdin; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Hulett, the Rev. Jeff Dilks officiating, with burial in Hulett cemetery. Memorials may benefit Hulett First Baptist Church or donor’s choice in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank of Sheridan.

Virginia Wolfe

Former Sheridan resident Virginia Wolfe, 87, of Cheyenne died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, in Cheyenne. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Saturday in Sheridan Elks cemetery with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wolfe was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Lander to Frank and Effie (Wroe) Snavely. She married Jack Wolfe Jan. 28, 1936, in Eaton, Colo. She worked as legal secretary for most of her life. She enjoyed bridge and loved spending time with her daughter and family. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970 and her brother, L.L. Snavely. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Clark, of Cheyenne; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verna Rummell of Tucson, Ariz. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, Wyoming Chapter, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, Box 2007, Sheridan, WY.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Anselmo officiating. Interment is in Sheridan Municipal cemetery, Eagles Section.

William Loren Sheridan Sr.

William Loren Sheridan Sr., 93, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Ill. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Willow Grove cemetery, Buffalo, with the Rev. Dick Edgerton officiating military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Buffalo in care of Adams Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams Ave., Buffalo, WY 82834.

Clifford Edward Rasmussen

Clifford Edward Rasmussen, 94, of Sheridan died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Revs. Wilbur Holz and Ron Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Former Sheridan-area resident Virginia Wolfe, 87, of Cheyenne died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, in Cheyenne. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Saturday in the Elks section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clifford Edward Rasmussen

Clifford Edward Rasmussen, 94, of Sheridan died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Revs. Wilbur Holz and Ron Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Tom T. Hornbeck

LARAMIE — Tom T. Hornbeck, 68, of Elk Mountain died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a brother, Jack Hornbeck, of Sheridan. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Rawlins with the Rev. Robin Chance officiating. interment will follow at a later date in Reader cemetery in Savery. Survivors include two sons, John of Saratoga and Kirby of Hanna; a sister, Jo Schultz of Rawlins; and a second brother, Andy Hornbeck of Rawlins. Memorials are suggested to the Tom Hornbeck Memorial Fund, Box 241, Hanna, WY 82327. Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home of Laramie is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn L. ‘Peggy’ Hollander

Evelyn L. “Peggy” Hollander, 80, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Sheridan Manor. At her request, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place. Kane Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hollander was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Page, Neb., to Lloyd and Mary (Cullen) Bergstrom. She worked for 20 years as a nurse’s aide and lab technician at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. She was married to Bud Wolfe for 39 years. She loved to quilt and was an above-average bowler for many years. She enjoyed fly-fishing, camping, hunting, playing cards and cribbage, and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader, and when able made weekly trips to Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She served as secretary/treasurer of Royal Neighbors Insurance in the early 1950s. She was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan. Two brothers preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Patti Klinkosh of Ranchester, Peggy Buss of Sheridan and Kay Pittman of Sheridan; seven granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Loretta Wilson of Charlo, Mont. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Savings Bank, Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
