Rino Harvey - 08/12/04

Funeral services for former Gillette woman Rino Harvey, 69, of Sheridan will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan with the Rev. Terral Bearden officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. Harvey died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County of natural causes.

She was born March 18, 1935, in Sapporo, Japan, to Hachiro and Hina Shimokawara. She grew up and attended schools in Japan.

She met and married Frank Daniel Harvey on March 19, 1952, in the Military Chapel in Sapporo. They moved to Washington state in 1954, where they lived for a short time before moving to Kirby, Mont. The couple moved to Lame Deer, Mont., in 1955. They moved to Gillette in 1967 and lived here until 1978, when they moved to Sheridan. The lived there for two years before moving back to the Kirby area.

They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March 2002. He died in December 2002. After his death, Mrs. Harvey moved back to Sheridan.

She was a past member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and the Salvation Army. She enjoyed cooking, rock collecting, knitting, crocheting, making quilts and clothing, fishing, gardening, her house plants, swimming, watching high school sports, carving walking sticks, clay sculpting, visiting with neighbors and friends, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Harvey is survived by four sons, Frank, Fred and John D. Harvey, all of Gillette, and Milton P. Harvey of Sheridan; one daughter, Marcell A. Miller, of Douglas; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and several siblings.

Cari Siegert - 08/17/04

Funeral services for Cari Lea Siegert, 24, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gillette, with burial following at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Pastor Chad Brucklacher will be officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.

Ms. Siegert died Firday at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of Ewing's Sarcoma.

She was born March 20, 1980, to Dale and Cheri (Datisman) Siegert in Platteville, Wisc. She moved to Gillette as a toddler and attended Conestoga Elementary, Sage Valley Junior High and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1998.

Ms. Siegert enjoyed working at L&H Welding as a repceptionist in high school. After graduating she earned her certified nursing assistant certification and began to work as a certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed caring for all of her clients including those from Renew, Sol Domus, Western Nursing and Pioneer Manor. While employed as a certified nursing assistant she attended the Gillette Campus and the Sheridan Campus to earn a degree in the health care field. She was nearing her degree in massage therapy when her cancer reoccurred.

She enjoyed playing the drums since age 6, and became a very accomplished drummer. She enjoyed a wide variety of music, and had said that her music was a great comfort to her during her illness. She liked football, and was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. She also enjoyed fishing with her father, and considered her mother her best friend.

Ms. Siegert is survived by her parents, Dale and Cheri Siegert of Gillette; maternal grandfather, Sydney Datisman of Durango, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Ruth Siegert of Dubuque, Iowa; her brother Mike, of Mesa Ariz.; brother Toby Siegert of Mesa, Ariz.; a niece and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceeded in death by her paternal grandmother, Dorothy Datisman.

Harry Fenton Jr. - 08/15/04

Harry Lloyd Fenton Jr., 87, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette.

He lived most of his life in Philadelphia and worked as a quality control inspector with Pennwalt Chemicals. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Chirch of Fox Chase.

A memorial service is planned for the fall.

He is survived by his daughter Judith Fenton Elliott of Mililani Town, Hawaii; his sons, Harry Lloyd Fenton III of Albuquerque, N. M., and Stephen Lawrence Fenton of Gillette; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Theodore Fenton and William Fenton; and his wife, Margaret Dowall Fenton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19103.

Ella M. Curtis Haskell - 08/16/04

Funeral services for Ella M. Curtis Haskell, 93, of Rapid City, S.D., and the mother of a Gillette woman, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Open Bible Christian Center in Rapid City with the Rev. Les Potts officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Haskell died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Beverly Healthcare Rapid City Care of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 31, 1910, at Clear Lake, S.D., to Wesley and Blanche T. (Ward) Allen. She was raised and educated in Clear Lake, and was baptized when she was 13 years-old.

She married Orman L. Curtis on April 18, 1927, in Clear Lake. They moved to Rapid City shortly after their marriage and she has lived there ever since. Her husband died in June 1973, and she later married Grover Haskell.

Mrs. Haskell is survived by nine children, including Vernice Waller of Gillette; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a daughter; one son; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother.

Elmer Hollenbeck - 08/16/04

Graveside funeral service for Elmer Hollenbeck, 78, of Gillette will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Pisgah Cemetery with the Rev. Andrew Carsrud of the Family Life Church officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Hollenbeck died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Pioneer Manor of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Ansley, Neb., to Elmer F. and Anna (Anderson) Hollenbeck. He was educated in Berwyn, Neb., and graduated from there in 1943. He then moved to San Diego, Calif., to work in his brother's-in-law grocery store.

On Oct. 5, 1946, he married Betty Adkins and had two children. They later divorced. They returned to Nebraska to help his family on the farm, and in 1959 they moved to Wheatland where he worked in law enforcement.

Mr. Hollenbeck later moved to Cheyenne and worked for the Department of Revenue.

On Aug. 24, 1968, he married Betty (Dickerson) Morrison in Nunn, Colo. They lived in Newcastle for one year, then in 1969 moved to Gillette. He began working for Amax Coal Co. in 1971. He was in supply, later working as a shovel operator and then a pit foreman until his retirement in 1985.

He was an avid garage saler, woodworker and fisherman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved to travel and lived in Quartzsite, Ariz., for six months of every year for the past 20 years.

Mr. Hollenbeck is survived by his wife; four daughters, Paula Wilson of Wheatland, Mary Jane Tatum of Cheyenne, Sandy Halbrook of Gillette, and Kathleen Terry of Santa Fe, Tenn.; one son, William Morrison Jr. of Cheyenne; one brother, Cody Hollenbeck of Sumner, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Topper Hollenbeck; four sisters, Mildred, Waunita, Evelyn and Annamae; and one granddaughter, Wendy Wilson.
