Christy Lynn Jacobs

ROCK SPRINGS - Christy Lynn Jacobs, 43, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at the University of Utah Medical Center after a lengthy battle with leukemia. She was a lifelong resident of Rock Springs.

She was born Feb. 12, 1963, the daughter of Tom and Judy Harper. She attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1981.

She married Randy Jacobs on Jan. 22, 1983, in Rock Springs. They were married for 23 years.

She had been employed at the Rock Springs National Bank.

Her interests included fishing, camping, snowmobiling, golfing and spending time with her family. She was an avid gymnast and helped establish the Rock Springs gymnastics program. She also coached, choreographed and was a Level 9 USAG judge.

Survivors include her husband, Randy of Rock Springs; daughter, Leslie Jacobs of Rock Springs; son, Shawn Jacobs and fiancée Kristina Chick of Grand Junction, Colo.; parents, Tom and Judy Harper of Pinedale; sister, Debbie Hensley of Laramie; brother, Mike Harper and wife Corey of Pinedale; grandmother, Bertha Peters of Rock Springs; mother-in-law, Ruth Jacobs of Middlebury, Vt.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Thomas Harper; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Marie Edwards; sister, Sherrie Porter; father-in-law, Abraham Jacobs; and paternal step-grandfather, William Pete Peters.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, on Second and B streets, Rock Springs. The Rev. Ann Fontaine and Bernadine Craft will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.

Patrick Lee Brown

TILLAMOOK, Ore. - Patrick Lee Brown, 51, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, in Gladstone, Ore., after a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of Green River prior to moving to Tillamook, Ore.

He was born Jan. 10, 1955, in Portland, Ore., the son of Marvin E. and Mildred Jean Rankin Brown. Brown graduated from Milwaukee High School with the class of 1972.

He married Pearl DeVries on June 27, 1983, in Elko, Nev. They were later divorced.

He had been the owner of Rancho Bowl in Green River for 30 years.

He was a member of the Green River Eagles Lodge. His interests included camping, hunting, fishing, bowling and his children.

Survivors include his son, BenJamen Brown of Rock Springs; daughters, Anna Feeley and husband Jeff of Buffalo and Amie Hughes of Ogden, Utah; one brother, John Brown and wife Peggy of Estacada, Ore.; one sister, Luetta Rae and husband Butch of Tillamook; three grandchildren, James and Jeremiah Feeley and Hailee Johnson; one aunt; two nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mildred; grandparents; and one aunt.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at the Eagles Lodge Green River Area No. 2350, Green River. Cremation has taken place.

Wayne Lee Riggs

CASPER - Wayne Lee Riggs, 54, of Casper, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, in Breckenridge, Colo.

He was born Nov. 16, 1951, in Rock Springs, to Bill Trank and Harriett Wilde. He was raised in various areas of Wyoming. In sixth grade, he lived with Duward and Dorothy Jones on the Warm Springs Ranch. He graduated high school at Hot Springs County High School where he met lifelong friends including Craig, Rodney, Ernie, Nels, Gary, Lee and Bart.

He joined the National Guard and planned to join the Army when he met Mari Beth Skelton. They married in 1972 and began their family of four daughters.

His interests included spending time with his daughters, riding horses, trailing cows, singing, dancing, listening to Elvis music, watching Bronco games and going to movies.

The Riggs family lived in Thermopolis until 1986 when they moved to California for a short time before making Casper their home for the last 18 years. Riggs loved his big toys, so he began the Talon Excavation, RussLee and RFM businesses.

Survivors include his wife, Mari (Skelton) Riggs of Casper; four daughters, Darci Palmer of Crozet, Va., Tracy Moore of Eugene, Ore., Lacy Peterson of Casper and Marci Brunette of Casper; seven grandchildren; his father, Bill Trank of Casper; two brothers, Bill Riggs of Casper and John Riggs of Tucson, Ariz.; and three sisters, Laurie Harvey of Thermopolis, Margie Porter of Casper and Jan Allen of Casper.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriet Trank; and a sister, Debbie Trank.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at Newcomer Family Funeral Home in Casper. The Rev. Marvin Skogen from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will officiate. A viewing will be Friday from noon until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland cemetery in Casper.

Roxana Shaw Brown

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Roxana Shaw Brown, 83, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She had been a resident of Rock Springs for many years prior to moving to Utah.

She was born March 22, 1923, in Tetonia, Idaho, the daughter of James Albert and May Thatcher Shaw.

She married H. Grant Brown on June 9, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She served two temple missions in the Atlanta, Ga., and Denver, Colo. Temple.

Survivors include her children, Daniel Grant Brown and wife Linda, Patricia Bowdey, Helen McGuire and husband, Stan, Marilyn Brown and David S. Brown and wife Nanette; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lofthouse and Naomi Norwood; and brother, Dr. James T. Shaw and wife Pauline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Grant; and sister, Ardis Kofoed.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Midvale 10th Ward LDS Chapel, 8825 S. 150 W., Salt Lake City. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S) and from 9-9:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the church. Dominick Coletti

ROCK SPRINGS - Dominick Coletti, 95, of 421 Elias Ave., Rock Springs died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Berkley Manor in Denver, Colo. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of California, Coletti died following a brief illness.

He was born July 25, 1911, in Sublette, the son of Joseph Peter and Lucy Tappero Coletti. Coletti attended school in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1929.

He married Mathilda Kvasnak on July 10, 1942, in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death Nov. 27, 1995.

Coletti worked in the coal mines for many years and retired from Stauffer Chemical Company on July 15, 1976. He was a longtime member of the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.

Coletti was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 151, the Catholic Golden Age and an active member of the Italian American Society. He recently received recognition as being on the oldest and longest serving members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served as secretary of that organization for over 25 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Patti Schraeder and husband Rick of Denver; one brother, Clyde Coletti of San Jose; five grandchildren, Sean Schraeder and wife Sara of Phoenix, Ariz., Brett Schraeder and wife Linda of Altadena, Calif., Eric Schraeder and wife Nicole of Sacramento, Calif., Amie Landman and husband Cassidy of Grand Junction, Colo., and Ross Schraeder of Huelva, Spain.; five great-grandchildren, Griffin and Bria Schraeder of Phoenix, Aidan and Dominick Schraeder of Altadena, and Sabrian Landman of Grand Junction; and five nieces.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mathilda; son, Paul Joseph Coletti; and his parents, Joseph and Lucy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. The Rev. Carl Beavers will officiate. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Section of the Rock Springs City cemetery, Rock Springs. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday morning at the chapel until time of services.

Evelyn Mae Wertz Caldwell

GREEN RIVER - Evelyn Mae Wertz Caldwell, 84, of 1445 Uinta, Green River, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River. A longtime resident of Green River and former resident of Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Caldwell died following a lengthy illness.

She was born July 20, 1922, the daughter of Enos and Myrtle Lucas Wertz. She attended schools in Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School with the class of 1940.

She married Albert Shofner Caldwell in Roanoke. He preceded her in death in 1960.

Caldwell worked as a nurses aide and store owner of a gift shop for several years.

She was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Green River.

Her interests included family, crafting and sewing.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy C. Graham and husband William of Green River; two sisters, Bebe Wertz of Rocky Mount, Va., and Virginia Cooke of Roanoke; one sister-in-law, Beth Bauserman of Huntington, W.Va.; seven grandchildren , Hamilton Long of Kodiak, Alaska, Blair Graham of Green River, Roger Graham of Palm Springs, Calif., Wade Graham of Baltimore, Md., Betsy Graham of Salisbury, N.C., Erica Caldwell of Richmond, Va., and Justin Caldwell of Richmond, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tatiainna and Eric Long, all of Kodiak, Tyler Graham of Baltimore and Rilee Graham of Salisbury; one niece; and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; one son, Jeffery Stephan Caldwell; parents, Enos and Myrtle; one brother, Melvin Wertz; one sister, Alma Lynch; and one niece, Susan Wampler.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at the Union Congregation Church, 350 Mansface, Green River. The Rev. Lisa Hart will conduct the services. Friends may call one hour prior to time of services.

Margaret "Maggie" Ruth Martin Handrich

LARAMIE - Margaret "Maggie" Ruth Martin Handrich, 60, and Dr. Eldon Michael Handrich, 59, of Laramie died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, with Handrichs father, Willard Handrich, 89, of Grand Marais, Mich., when their fishing boat capsized on Lake Superior.

Maggie Handrich was born Aug. 17, 1946, the youngest of nine children of Arthur and Mary Martin of Barry, Ill. She attended Payson schools, graduating from Payson Seymour High School in 1964. She graduated from Blessing Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 and was employed as an emergency room nurse until her retirement.

She had moved with her first husband and son, Brent Prunty, to Cheyenne. In 1992, she married Eldon Handrich.

She purchased a ranch in Laramie, which they named the Prairie Monarch, and raised bison.

Her interests included working the ranch full time, along with raising chickens, cows and goats. She made butter, cheeses and preserved many vegetables and fruits. She also sold bison meat in area farm markets, enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, road trips and visiting with her many friends.

Eldon Handrich was born Feb. 6, 1947, in Alpena, Mich. He graduated form Burt Township School in Grand Marias in 1965. He received his bachelor and masters degrees from Northern Michigan University and graduated from the University of Colorado Medical School. He completed a family practice residency that specialized in emergency medicine. He practiced in Rock Springs, Cheyenne and Douglas. Together with Francis Dallarosa, he had two children, Tessa of San Diego, Calif., and Dylan of Golden, Colo.

After he married Maggie in 1992, they raised buffalo on their ranches near Laramie and Wheatland.

His interests included research, running marathons, flying airplanes, hunting and fishing.

Mrs. Handrich is survived by her son, Brent Prunty of Sybille Canyon, Wheatland; two stepchildren, Tessa and Dylan; mother, Mary; and eight brothers and sisters, Art Jr and wife Betty of Barry, Ill., Nellie Martin of Quincy, Ill., Earl Walter Martin of Barry, Mary Lou and husband Dick Venvertloh of Quincy, Dale Martin of Athens, Ill., Sally Gusewelle of Highland, Ill., Bob and wife Mary Jo of Peoria, Ill., and Thelma Martin of Barry.

Handrich is survived by his daughter and son, Tessa and Dylan; stepson, Brent Prunty; mother, Mary Handrich; sisters, Carla and husband Vernon Stoltzfus of Lakewood, Colo., Shirley and husband Mario Bustos of Valpraiso, Ind., and Joetta and husband Gerald Schlabach, of St. Paul, Minn.; and one brother, Roderick of Denver, Colo.

A memorial will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in auditorium A and B.

Drake Vernon Hettinger

GREEN RIVER - Drake Vernon Hettinger, infant, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

He was born Aug. 31, 2006, to Walter V. Hettinger and Elsie I. Zornes of Green River.

He is survived by his parents, Walter and Elsie; brother, Brandon; grandparents, Randal and Carrie Graves of Green River, Bill and Karen Spencer of Rock Springs and Ray and Lora Hettinger of Wellington, Colo.; great-grandparents, Billy and Lois Hettinger of Fort Collins, Colo., and Neal and Marge Dietrick of Scottsbluff, Neb.; great-great-grandmother, Irene Dietrick of Alliance, Neb.; uncles, Jason and wife Diana Zornes of Florida, Anthony and wife Amber Zornes of South Dakota, Randall Graves of Green River, Jonathon Hettinger of Wellington, Colo., and Dan Spencer of Rock Springs; aunts, Betty Zornes of Green River, Jamie Hettinger of Wellington and Heather Spencer of Rock Springs; cousins, Jacob Zornes of South Dakota and Jordan Graham and Jaden Spencer, both of Rock Springs; godparents, Larry and Donna Akley of Green River; and goddaughter, Cassie Green of Green River.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at the First Assembly of God Church, 1380 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. The Rev. Phillip Rose will officiate.

There will be a gathering after the services. Cremation has taken place.

Royce Earl Goldman

ROCK SPRINGS - Royce Earl Goldman, 80, of 708 Central St., Rock Springs, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Goldman after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 26, 1926, the son of Joseph and Jerdie James Goldman, in Shortleaf, Ala. When he was 1 month old, the family moved to Cuero, Texas, where he grew up and attended school.

In December 1943, Goldman joined the Merchant Marines and served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean war zones. In March 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed on Midway Island. Later, he transferred to China where he served for over a year. He returned to the states in 1947 where he was honorably discharged.

Goldman came to Wyoming in November 1947 with a geo physical crew. From 1947 to 1992, he worked mostly in the oil and gas industry. In 1972, he and his sons opened the first business in the Gateway Boulevard area, the Gateway Texaco station. He also worked for E.B. Hall, later known as Champlain, in a gas compressor plant. He spent a short period working at Church and Dwight Co. Inc., while also working in the family-owned Park View grocery store. During this time, having previously earned his GED in 1961, he also attended WWCC in Reliance, where he received an associates of arts degree in engineering in 1967.

He moved to Worland after retiring in 1992 and lived there for 11 years, returning to Rock Springs in 2002. He married Betty Jane Dye in Worland on April 29, 1951. Three sons were born to this union. Goldman was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 624. His interests included camping, and golfing.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Jane; three sons, Rodney and wife Janet, Barry and wife Gail and Clay and wife Tami, all of Rock Springs; one sister, Dorothy Geffert of Yorktown, Texas; one brother, Chappie and wife Vera of Beaumont, Texas; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Dye of Lander; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Charley Dye of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dick Anderson and wife Lorraine of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Stella Senstad and husband Jim of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patricia Lungren and husband Larry of Canon City, Colo.; eight grandchildren: Robert and wife Carmen of Herriman, Utah, Brian of Chicago, Ill., Hillary Kauchich and husband Paul of Rock Springs, Damon of Laramie and Alison, Jordan, Aaron and Jonah, all of Rock Springs; three great-grandchildren, Braden, Hunter and Halle Kauchich, all of Rock Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Jerdie; and five brothers, Arnold, Raynold, Reginald, John and Roy.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at the First Baptist Church, corner of C and Pine streets, Rock Springs. The Rev. Lori Lundblad will officiate. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.

Honorary pallbearers are: Robert Goldman, Brian Goldman, Damon Goldman, Aaron Goldman, Jonah Goldman and Paul Kauchich.

Nevada Pittam

ROCK SPRINGS - Nevada Pittam, 88, of 2085 Ponderosa Way, Rock Springs died on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County where she had been a patient for the past two days. A former resident of Superior and longtime resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Pittam had been inill health for the past several years.

She was born July 19, 1918, in Banner County, Neb., the daughter of Carl and Kittie Palmer Quigley. She attended schools in Kimball, Neb. She married Earl C. Pittam on March 4, 1935, in Fort Collins, Colo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1992.

Her survivors include two sons, Robert Eugene Pittam and wife Sharon of North Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jerry Lee Pittam and wife Patricia of Vernon Hills, Ill.; one daughter, Virginia Ann Romero of Rock Springs; two brothers, Oscar Quigley and Ocie Quigley; nine grandchildren, David Pittam and wife Becky, Richard Pittam, Treva Kosloski and husband Leonard, Christine Pittam, Donald Romero and wife Christine, Joseph Romero and wife Della, Kenneth Romero and wife Dee, Kirsa Dosemagen and husband John and Bradley Pittam and wife Jennifer; 19 great-grandchildren; seven-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Kittie; husband Earl; twin sons in infancy; four sisters, Edith Dumler, Daisy Holbrook, Dorothy Inman and Beulah Withers; three brother, Andrew Quigley, Ray Quigley and Victor Quigley; and one son-in-law, Adonis Romero.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services.

Gloria Jean Puckett

GREEN RIVER - Gloria Jean Puckett, 51, of 645 Iowa Ave., Green River, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She had been in ill health for nearly two years.

She was born Aug. 1, 1955, in Laramie, the daughter of John and Genovie Bustos. She attended school in Hanna and was a1973 graduate of Hanna High School.

She married Robert Lee Puckett on Oct. 28, 1972 in Hanna.

Mrs. Puckett was employed at various stores as a cashier.

Her interests included spending time with her family and selling glassware and home garden products.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Puckett; parents, John and Genovie; two sons, Joseph Alan Puckett and Robert Gerald Puckett; one daughter, Angela Dawn Maez and husband Jason of Green River; four brothers, Robert Bustos and wife Cathy of Hanna, John Bustos of Green River, Archie Bustos and wife Patsy of Craig, Colo., and Richard Bustos of Rock Springs; four sisters, Linda Bustos of Rawlins, Pauline Rodriguez and husband Nick, and Patsy Garcia, all of Hanna, and Rose Irene and husband Ellie of Elko, Nev.; five grandchildren, Breanna Puckett, Shyanna Puckett, Shaelyn Maez, Seyarra Puckett and Austyn Maez; mother-in-law, Emagene Puckett; brother-in-law, Jimmie Puckett; sister-in-law, Janet Puckett; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.25, 2006, at First Assembly of God, 1380 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. The Rev. Phillip Rose will conduct the services. Interment will be in the River View cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, from 4-6 p.m. at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 E. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, and Wednesday one hour prior to services.

Marlene Wall

BASIN - Marlene Wall, 58, of 890 Highway 20 S., Basin died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis. A resident of Basin for the past four years, and former longtime resident of Rock Springs, Ms. Wall had been in ill health for the past several years.

She was born May 2, 1948, in Rock Springs, the daughter of Herbert Conrad and Mary Sturman Wall. She was a Rock Springs High School graduate in 1966 and attended and graduated from St. Marks Nursing School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was employed at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County until ill health forced her retirement in 1970. Ms. Wall was one of the early kidney transplant recipients. Her mother was the donor in 1970.

Her interests included helping and advising the ill and watching television.

Survivors include two brothers, Fred Wall and wife Caroline of LaHabra, Calif., and Ray Wall and wife Anita of Rock Springs; two sisters, Judy Anderson and Nancy Moylen and husband Roger, all of Rock Springs; one aunt; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Swede and Mary; and one niece, Stephanie Wall.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel Friday morning until time of services.

Carl C.J. Jones Pearce

SYRACUSE, Utah - Carl C.J. Jones Pearce, 72, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, surrounded by his family in Evanston.

He was born and raised on a small farm in Paradise, Utah, on June 6, 1924, to Richard Wilber Pearce and Ethel Lucy Jones Pearce. He attended South Cache High School and Utah State University. He was the first in his family to attend college.

He was drafted in the U.S. Army on June 2, 1943. He served in the World War II Pacific theater as a 606 machine gunner in New Guinea. He received a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Star, Army Good Conduct Medal and Army Combat Infantry Medal. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 19, 1946. He joined the Air Force Reserves in 1952. He was awarded an Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal. After serving a term as president of the Utah Reserve Officers Association, he retired a major on Sept. 28, 1975.

Pearce met Kathryn Irene Moffat at Bon Ricos Dance Hall in Kemmerer. They married on Sept. 17, 1949, in Coalville, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on Dec. 27, 1993. They had three children: Lauree Dee, Linda Kay and Larry Scott.

In 1950, he was hired as an engineer on the Union Pacific Railroad in Evanston. He retired on Sept. 28, 1987, but maintained lasting friendships with his UPRR buddies.

He served several years as a Boy Scouts of America scout master and was active in the Lyons Club. He served as Democratic chairman of Uintah County and also as the Uintah County civil defense director.

Later in life, he was ordained a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and accepted several callings within his Syracuse Ward.

As an avid runner, he completed the St. George Marathon three times and qualified in every attempt for the Boston Marathon. In 1990, he successfully completed the Boston Marathon and broke an established record in his age bracket.

He is survived by two daughters, Lauree Dee and husband Terry Sigler of North Platte, Neb., and Linda Kay Fusselman and husband Dave Rowley of Evanston; one son, Larry Scott and wife Joleen Pearce of Pleasant View, Utah; one brother, Norman and wife Shirley Pearce of Paradise; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Pearce of Clarkston, Utah; 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ethel; four brothers, Ray Pearce, Cye E. Pearce, Arthur Richard Pearce and Charlie Pearce; one sister, Baby Girl Pearce; wife, Kathryn; and one granddaughter, Kari Fusselman.

His life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at a memorial service at Lindquists Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Following services, interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Paradise cemetery.
