Clarice Deyon Tyler

EVANSTON - Clarice Deyon Tyler, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at her home in Evanston.

She was born June 28, 1930, in Kemmerer to Roy and Idonna (Herford) Adams.

She married Martin Edward Tyler on Sept. 14, 1946, in Montana. They lived in Olympia, Wash., for 17 years before moving to Granger where they owned and operated the Church Bar for 35 years. They retired and moved to Thermopolis in 1992. Her husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Edward Val Tyler of Thermopolis; daughters, June and husband Kirk Schumacher of Rock Springs, and Carol and husband Doug Rimer and Susan Muller, all of Evanston; son-in-law, Gary Muller Sr.; daughter-in-law, Shelly Tyler; sisters, Beverly Tanner of Rock Springs and Nadine Boland of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Straight and Narrow Drive, Evanston. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Adams cemetery in Granger.

Joseph Frank Jereb

ROCK SPRINGS - Joseph Frank Jereb, 78, of 806 Big Horn, Rock Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at his home. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Jereb died following a brief illness.

He was born March 4, 1928, in Rock Springs, the son of John and Anna Ruper Jereb.

He attended school in Rock Springs.

He married Shirley Mable Armstrong on Oct. 7, 1949, in Rock Springs.

She preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 2004.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Jereb was employed as an engineer for the Wyoming State Highway Department for 40 years until his retirement in 1990.

Jereb was a member of the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert John Jereb and wife Peggy of Rock Springs and Donald Wayne Jereb of Rock Springs; two daughters, Shelia Mae Simkin and husband Kenneth of Thayne and Shelley Lynn Hemmert of Rock Springs; four brothers, Stanley Jereb and wife Mary Ruth of Rock Springs, Jack Jereb and wife Joan of Rock Springs, Alfred Jereb and wife Dana of Lyman and Albert Jereb of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Francis Smith and husband Robert of Rock Springs and Cecelia Young of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, Ty Jereb, Jon Jereb, Brooke Hemmert, Justin Hemmert, Chad Simkin, Eric Simkin, Aaron Jereb and Kiri Jereb; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Simkin, Whitney Jereb, and Kody Chapman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna; wife, Shirley; two sons; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs.

The Reverend Killian Muli will officiate. Military graveside services and interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.

Friends may call at the Vase Chapel, Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 from the afternoon until 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 morning at the chapel until time of funeral services.

Florence Jean McMillan

MESA, Ariz. - Florence Jean McMillan, 61, died Nov. 14,2006, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born July 19, 1945, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Dorothy E. McMillan of Rock Springs.

She was raised in Rock Springs, where she graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1963.

She graduated from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D., with a bachelors degree in history and political science in 1988.

She also graduated Summa Cum Laud from Chapman University in Orange, Calif., in 1997 with a masters degree in counseling.

She was working for Superstition Mountain Mental Health in Apache Junction, Ariz., as the chemical dependency coordinator.

She is survived by her daughter and grandson, Tammy and Stephen Mivshek of Mesa; a son, Allan Mivshek of Aberdeen, S.D.; her brother, Donald J. and wife Janet McMillan of Rock Springs; an uncle, Ronald J. McMillan of Rock Springs and several nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her brothers, Ronald J. and Thomas Tim J. McMillan and her parents, Thomas J. and Dorothy E. McMillan.

She has been cremated and service will be conducted at a later date in Rock Springs.

Jack L. Freeze

ROCK SPRINGS - Jack L. Freeze, 72, died Thursday, Dec. 7 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.

He was born Jan. 9, 1934, in Picher, Okla., the son of Ramon and Mamie Waymire Freeze.

Jack attended schools in Reliance and graduated from Reliance High School with the class of 1952. He married Lucille E. Smith on Oct. 17, 1953, in Evanston.

He was employed at FMC for 38 years until his retirement in1994. His interest included spending time at his cabin in Green River Ranches, the outdoors, football and basketball.

Freeze is survived by his wife, Lucille; one son, Mike Freeze and wife Terrie; one daughter, Jackie Freeze and husband John Schrade, all of Rock Springs; one brother, Don Freeze and wife Linda of Miami, Okla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roy and Ralph Freeze.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec.12, 2006, at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rock Springs.

Louis Carter

ROCK SPRINGS - Louis Carter, 69, of 1112 Rosewood Drive, Rock Springs, died on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at the Sage View Care Center.

A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mr. Carter had been in ill health for the past five months.

He was born Aug. 31, 1937, in Sparta, Ill., the son of the late Thomas Wesley Hack Carter and Lola Schoffner.

Mr. Carter attended school in Rock Springs and was a 1956 Rock Springs High School graduate. He also attended Weber College in Ogden, Utah, for two years.

He married the former Yvonne Allen in Rock Springs on Aug. 28, 1958.

Mr. Carter was employed as a First Line Supervisor at General Chemical. He worked there for 38 years.

His interests included golf, watching football, barbecuing, spending time with his family and he especially enjoyed the family Fourth of July Reunion.

Survivors include his wife Yvonne Carter of Rock Springs; one son, Lou Carter of San Diego; one daughter, Kimberlee Carter of Rock Springs; five brothers Joseph Butchy Carter and wife Cheryl, Donald Tricky Carter and wife Tanya, David Gutty Carter and wife Carol, all of Rock Springs, Lorenzo Carter and wife Linda of Ogden, Utah, and Thomas Carter Jr. of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Janice Swenson and husband Michael of Rock Springs; one granddaughter, Robin Holmes and husband Ryan of Rock Springs; one great-granddaughter, Riley Holmes of Rock Springs; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mildred Hortence Allen, Blanche Webb and Leora Glasker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Sweetwater County Events Complex, 3320 Yellowstone Road, Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Tuesday afternoon and evening until 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the Events Complex, one hour prior to services.

Margaret Valdez

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Margaret Valdez, 74, died Dec. 4,2006, in West Valley City, Utah.

She was born Aug. 26, 1932, in Raton, N.M., to Henry Barela, Sr., and Josephine Bustmante. She graduated from Raton High School. She married Arthur Valdez on Sept. 24,1950, in Trinidad, Colo.

Valdez loved to work in her beautiful yard, to crochet and being with her family. She enjoyed her church affiliation. She also enjoyed being a member of the Lions Club, where she would spend hours with her friends.

She met the love of her life Arthur Valdez and married him on Sept. 24, 1950. Together they had five children, Arthur Valdez Jr., Bernard and wife Becki Valdez, Lynda and her husband George Copyak, Brenda Campbell and Donny and wife Teresa Valdez.

She is survived by four of her children, Arthur, Bernard, Lynda and Brenda; and 14 grandchildren and 16great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her spouse of 45years; her son, Donny; her parents; her brother, Rocky Barela; and her sister, Esther Buzis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 9,2006, at 10 a.m. at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church,3580 W. 3650 S. The family will receive friends at a visitation Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S., with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.

Interment will be in the Valley View Memorial Park.

Mary L. "MeMe" Schultz Maestas

GREEN RIVER - Mary L. 'MeMe'Schultz Maestas, 43, of 815 Wilderness Trail, Green River, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007. Mrs. Maestas was a lifelong resident of Green River and died following a lengthy illness.

She was born Dec. 22, 1963, in Green River, the daughter of Carl A. and Helen Anita Murphy Schultz. She attended schools in Green River and graduated from Green River High School.

She married Rudy Edward Maestas on Aug. 4, 2000, in Green River. Mrs. Maestas was the assistant manager of Taco Time in Green River for 25 years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her interests included being outdoors, camping, fishing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Rudy; one son, Zachary James Schultz of Green River; four brothers, Carl A. Schultz of Green River, Max Roy Schultz of Green River, Gary M. Schultz of Mountain View and Howard A. Schultz of Green River; three sisters, Patty Garcia of Green River, Marcia Jessop of Green River and Janice Maestas of Green River; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helen; one brother, Floyd; and one sister, Judy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at the LDS Chapel First Ward, 1000 W. Fourth N., Green River. Bishop Wayde Meacham will conduct the services. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at the Riverview cemetery in Green River. Friends may call at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 E. Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and again at the church on Monday one hour prior to services.

Robert Wesley Hysell

MOUNTAIN VIEW - Robert Wesley Hysell, 81, of Mountain View, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at his home in Mountain View.

He was born May 7, 1925, in Robertson, a son to Denver and Annie (Rasmussen) Hysell Jr. He married Verla Fern Simpson on Dec. 17, 1956, in Evanston.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW. His interests included camping, motorcycles and family.

Survivors include his wife, Verla Hysell of Mountain View; son, Bob Hysell of Rock Springs; three daughters, Brenda Meckstroth of Little America, Terry Henrie of Mountain View and Pam Staley of Mountain View; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Les Hysell of Mountain View; sister, Martha Tripp of Mountain View; sisters-in-law, Larue Simpson of Roy, Utah, Verna and husband Bill Oliva of Lyman and Kay and husband Bill Bennett of Moreland, Idaho; and a brother-in-law, Clark Slagowski of Evanston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Annie; and grandparents.

Private family services will be conducted at a later date.

Robert Wiggen

ROCK SPRINGS - Robert Wiggen, 43, of 506 Evans St., Rock Springs, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Wiggen had been in ill health for the past several years. He was born June 14, 1963, in Rock Springs, the son of John and Mary Robertson Wiggen. He attended school in Rock Springs and was a 1982 graduate of Rock Springs High School.

Survivors include his parents, John and Mary Wiggen of Rock Springs; two brothers, Donald Wiggen and wife Pam of Rock Springs and Tom Wiggen of Casper; one sister, Sharon Lee Diggins of Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Cremation will take place. Services will be conducted in the spring.

John Tinker

MANILA, Utah - John Tinker 90, of Manila, Utah died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 2, 1916, in Manila, the son of Fay Waters Tinker and Mary Elizabeth McCool Tinker, the second of five children.

He married Genevieve Lillian Jarman on Jan. 22, 1944, in Green River.

He spent his life as a rancher in Manila, being selected as Sweetwater County Cattleman of the Year in 1988. He dedicated 56 years developing and delivering irrigation water to the stockholders of Sheep Creek Irrigation. He was instrumental in the construction of the Longs Park Dam and Reservoir.

Tinker served many years as a supervisor of the Daggett Soil Conservation Board and 20 years on the Daggett Board of Education. He served six years as a board member of the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center. In 1962, he was elected to the Utah House of Representatives where he served two terms.

His interests included telling stories of past experiences.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Tinker and wife Betty and Bryan Tinker and wife Jodi; two daughters, Luann Robinson and husband Tim and Lesa Asay and husband Randy, all of Manila; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Isabel Martin of Littleton, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Mary; wife, Genevieve; brothers, James Tinker and Albert Tinker; a sister, Mary Ella Saeler; son, John Gale Tinker; and daughter-in-law, Linda Sue Jamison Tinker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Manila Ward Chapel. A viewing will be conducted one hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial will take place at the Manila cemetery.

William "Bill" Fahndrich

ROCK SPRINGS - William Bill Fahndrich, 36, of Rock Springs, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in Rock Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Rock Springs; two stepsons, Brian Van Fossen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dustin Van Fossen of Vinton, Iowa; father, Jim Fahndrich and wife Pat of Sherwood, Mich.; mother, Darlene Derby and husband Doug of Homer, Calif.; mother-in-law, Bernice Pressley and husband Gene of Denison, Iowa; one brother, James Fahndrich and wife Selene of Long Beach, Calif; one sister, Tennille Walling and husband Paul of Sherwood, Mich.; two stepbrothers, Doug Fierke and wife Sally and Steve Fierke and wife Nancy; and two stepsisters, Kathy Fierke and Joline Huerta and husband Mike, all of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran cemetery in Denison. Friends may call at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007.

Mary Theresa Gerardi Barbero

ROCK SPRINGS - Mary Theresa Gerardi Barbero, 94, of Rock Springs, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Trinidad, Colo., Mrs. Barbero died following a lengthy illness.

She was born Sept. 6, 1912, in Tabasco, Colo., the daughter of Ennocente Gerardi and Jenoefa Rosina Rosie Zanolini. She attended schools in Rock Springs.

She married Robert Joseph Barbero on April 16, 1933, in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1993.

She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic community.

She was the past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 151 Womens Auxiliary, St. Monica Sodality, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Council of Catholic Women.

Her interests included bowling, bingo and spending time with family, friends and her dog, Lady.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Barbero and wife Maryanne of New York, Roland Barbero and wife Sandra of Terra, Utah, Donald Barbero and wife Sara of Rock Springs and Dennis Barbero of Rock Springs; one brother, James P. Gerardi of Cheyenne; 10 grandchildren, Robert and Frank Barbero and Barbara Langdon of New York, Julie Barbero of Utah, Daniel Barbero of Colorado, Jim Barbero of Cheyenne, David Barbero of Oregon, Lori Barbero Moore of Rock Springs and Veronica and Jennifer of Tennessee; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one cousin Jerry Zanolini of Colorado; and one niece, Johanna Karstoft and husband Phil of Rock Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Jerry Gerardi; one sister, Minnie Gerardi; and one son, Jerry Alex Barbero. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. Father Carl Beavers will officiate. A parish rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Mountain View Section of the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel Monday afternoon until 8 p.m. and again Tuesday morning until time of services. The family will be receiving guests at the home of Don Barbero, 704 First Ave. W., Rock Springs. Pallbearers will include Jim Barbero, David Barbero, Jerry Zanolini, Mike Yedinak, Buddy Kaumo and Brian Kaumo. Honorary pallbearers include her other grandchildren.

Ronnie Fred Powell

DOUGLAS - Ronnie Fred Powell, 66, a resident of Douglas, died Wednesday, March 6, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas.

He was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Pawnee City, Neb., the son of Fred Carl and Elsie Pearl (Keck) Powell. He was reared and educated in Liberty, Neb., and graduated from Liberty High School.

He was a crop duster pilot and moved to Wyoming in 1976 to begin a career in the mining industry. He retired from Powder River Coal in September 2005.

He married Jean A. (Mick) Behrends on Oct. 12, 1979, in Saratoga.

He was a member of Jehovahs Witnesses.

He is survived by his wife, Joan of Douglas; children, Todd Powell of Englewood, Colo., Tami Hansen of Minden, Neb., Brenda Kern of Geneseo, Kan., Korenna Jaso and Sabrina Kones, both of Douglas, and Rick Behrends of Clearfield, Utah; sisters, Elsie Kay Sejfora and Judy Powell, both of Liberty; brother, Verne Powell of Kingman, Ariz.; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tylene Maguire; and brothers, Don and Darold Powell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Douglas. Scott Zagrabelny will officiate.

Steve V. Radosevich

ROCK SPRINGS - Local services have been set for Steve V. Radosevich. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. Father Tom Sheridan and Father Carl Beavers will officiate. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the St. Josephs Section of the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel Tuesday afternoon until 8 p.m. and again Wednesday morning until time of services.

Radosevich, 100, died Thursday March 8, 2007, at The Inn at Deer Run Assisted Living in Star Valley, where he had been residing for about two weeks.

Dorothy Almira Vasa

ROCK SPRINGS - Dorothy Almira Vasa, 72, of 109 Pollux Drive, Rock Springs, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at her home. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Nora Springs, Iowa, Mrs. Vasa had been in ill health for the past few months.

She was born Sept. 15, 1934, in North Platte, Neb., the daughter of Glen and Hilda Halligan Moore. She attended school in Ogallala, Neb.

She married Robert Vasa in Ogallala on Jan. 27, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1983.

Mrs. Vasa was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Her interests included spending time with her family, playing cards, embroidering and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Vasa Jr. and wife Kathy of Loveland, Colo., and Richard Vasa and wife Helen of Rock Springs; one daughter, Christine Titchen and husband Tom of Andover, Minn.; one brother, Harvey Moore of Lake Villa, Ill.; two sisters, Geraldine McKain of North Platte, Neb., and Verna Fae Jarchow of Fort Laramie; 10 grandchildren, Kylie, Kolby, Korey, Connor and Shelby Vasa, Ashley and Amy Titchen and Candy, Steven and Zachery Vasa; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Randy Vasa; one daughter, Cindy Vasa; and three brothers, Tom, Jay Laverne, Bill and Ray.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2007, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway, Rock Springs. Father Carl Beavers will officiate. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 5, 2007, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday morning at the Vase Chapel until time of funeral services.In Ogallala, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at St Luke's Catholic Church, 417 E. Third St., Ogallala. A parish rosary will be recited at9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in the Ogallala City cemetery. Friends may call at the Draucker Funeral Home, 700 N. Spruce St., Ogallala, on Monday, April 9, 2007, from9 a.m. to5 p.m.
