Michael Ray Kothe

ELY, Nev. - Michael Ray Kothe, 44, of Ruth, Nev., died Sunday, July 15, 2007, in Ely, Nev.

He was born May 13, 1963, in Seward, Alaska, to James and Betty Theresa Mason Kothe.

He worked as a welder for Quadra at the Robinson Project.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.

Kothe graduated from Western Wyoming Community College with an associate of applied science degree.

Kothe married Betty Jo Latimer on May 22, 1999.

He was a member of the Mule Deer Foundation and the National Rifle Association. His interests included bowling, golfing, geo-caching, black powder hunting and four-wheel driving.

He is survived by his wife; parents; daughter, Cassie Jo Latimer of Rock Springs; two sons, Devon James Kothe of Anchorage, Alaska, and Stephen D. Latimer of Seward; seven sisters, Sophie Minich, Donica Jerue, Elva Fay Scott, Audrey Scott, Elissa Scott, Jolene Moonwind and Marilyn Blackdale; and five brothers, John G. Phelps, Arthur Robinson, Forrest Tressler, Wade Tressler and Tom Tressler.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at WWCC Atrium.

Glen E. Hunter

ZTEC, N.M. - Glen E. Hunter, 70, of Aztec, N.M., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, in Silverton, Colo.

He was born Dec. 16, 1936, in Rock Springs, the son of Woodrow and Helen (Branson) Hunter. He grew up in Green River, graduating from Green River High School with the class of 1954.

He worked in the Trona Mines until his retirement in 1997.

He married Pat Vines in 1956. They divorced in 1982. He married Joyce Putman in 1985.

His interests included working in his garage.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Aztec; sons, Glen C. Hunter and Dean Hunter, both of Green River, Jim Hunter of Phoenix and Dale Putman of Spring Creek, Nev.; daughters, Kathy Hunter of Grand Junction, Colo., and Lisa Putman of Richfield, Utah; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one uncle, Harve Branson of Atlantic City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at the Aztec Baptist Church, 1219 S. Main St., Aztec, with Pastor Don Stackpole officiating.

Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, with Pastor Mark Butcher officiating at the Riverview cemetery in Green River.

Kenna Allen Glenn

ROCK SPRINGS - Kenna Allen Glenn, infant of Jacob Glenn and Kristen Maynard, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs.

Survivors include parents, Jacob Glenn and Kristen Maynard of Rock Springs; one brother, Shane Cheatwood of Rock Springs, grandparents, Donna and Kenneth Maynard and Troy and Robyn Dunbar, all of Rock Springs; two aunts and uncles; and four cousins.

Glenn was preceded in death by a great-aunt, Kimberly Maher; great-grandparents, Nancy and Kenneth Maynard Sr., Frank and Myrtle Ellwanger and David Dunbar.

Cremation will take place. A family gathering will be conducted at a later date.

Mable Sanchez Lairamore

HENDERSON, Nev. - Services for Mable Sanchez Lairamore have been set. A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery.

Lairamore, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in her home in Henderson, Nev.

Thomas Blair Confer Sr.

ROCK SPRINGS - Thomas Blair Confer Sr., 81, of 1805 Carson St., Rock Springs, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. A resident of Rock Springs for the past 57 years and former resident of Pennsylvania, Confer died following a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Scranton, Pa., the son of Ezekiel Blair Confer and Isabelle Barnhart. He attended schools in Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Clearfield High School with the class of 1943. He later attended the Lock Haven Teachers College and the University of Wyoming, where he received his master degree.

Confer was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the World War II, receiving the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He married Christine Mary Randecker on June 8, 1951, in Lock Haven, Pa.

Confer was employed as a teacher for the School District No. 1 for the past 39 years and retired in 1989. He was the swim coach for 23 years, at which he won three consecutive state championships from 1960-62 and several conference championships. Confer received numerous awards including the Wyoming State Coach of the Year of the NHSACA District and was inducted into the Wyoming Coaches Hall of Fame.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Korean Shriners, Retired School District No. 1 Personnel and the Rock Springs Lodge No. 12 AF & AM Scottish Rite Masons since Feb. 25, 1952 . He served as the past worshipful master, worthy patron, OES and consistory. Confer was presented many civic awards for his service in Sweetwater County.

His interests included hunting, fishing, watching wildlife, spending time with his children and grandchildren and being a swimming coach.

He is survived by his wife, Christina M. Confer of Rock Springs; four sons, Thomas B. Confer Jr. and wife Diana, Robert W. Confer and wife Melissa, Richard E. Confer and wife Michelle and Kenneth J. Confer and wife Heather, all of Rock Springs; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Confer of Rock Springs; three brothers, John Confer and wife Marion, Ray Confer and wife Jeanne and Howard Confer and wife Joy, all of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Lennie Confer of Port Hueneme, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Marcy, Sarah, Holly, Roby, Braxton, Kendi, Jerry, Michael and Jimmy; nine great-grandchildren; and special family, Michele O'Melia, Brad O'Melia, Maori O'Melia, Chase O'Melia and Shay O'Melia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Earl Confer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at the First Congregational Church UCC, 1275 Adams Ave., Rock Springs. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs, and on Sunday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Beatrice Knudsen

RAWLINS - Beatrice Knudsen, 80, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at the Laramie Care Center in Laramie. She was a longtime resident of Rawlins.

She was born July 22, 1927, in Casper, the daughter of Lewis P. Hap and Eva (Mills) Vondrasek. The family moved to Muddy Gap when she was 10. She attended school in Casper and Muddy Gap.

She worked at Lamont from 1954-56.

She married Martin A. Knudsen on Aug. 13, 1956, in Rawlins at the Presbyterian Church. They moved to Rock Springs in 1960.

She was a member of the AARP.

She is survived by her children, Steven Coburn and wife Judy of Laramie, Brian Knudsen and wife Debbie of Green River and Shirley Lawson and husband LeRoy E. of Missouri; stepsister, Lorraine Pettigrew of Rawlins; brother, James Buck of Denver; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 1983; son, Terry A. Knudsen in 1981; father, Hap Vondrasek in 1985, mother, Eva Worford in 1988; sister, Lola Kalniowski in 1961; and stepmother, Alice Vondrasek in 1996.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at the Rawlins cemetery. Friends may call at the Rostad Mortuary Chapel Tuesday morning from 8-10 a.m.

Tyson Clarence Vorwaller

SODA SPRINGS, Idaho - Tyson Clarence Vorwaller, 24, of Soda Springs, Idaho, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at home.

He was born Nov. 12, 1982, in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Gary D. Vorwaller and Lisa Lynn Bowman.

He was raised in Soda Springs. He also lived in Denver for four years and in Rock Springs for two years.

He graduated from New Horizon High School in Pocatello.

He married Cassandra Crockett on Feb. 3, 2006, in Soda Springs.

He drove a truck for Gorge Concrete and Halliburton Company.

His interests included all sports, especially fishing; pool and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Cassandra of Soda Springs; a son, Carl Johnson Jr. of Soda Springs; two daughters, Lyric Johnson of Soda Springs and Summer Ann Vorwaller of Broomfield, Colo.; parents, Gary and Tausha Vorwaller of Soda Springs; mother, Lisa Bowman Taylor of Westminster, Colo.; grandparents, Gary and Carol Vorwaller of Soda Springs and Ellis and Elsie Bowman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three brothers, Payton Vorwaller of Soda Springs and Colby Elliott and Erik Taylor of Colorado; and three sisters, Cassie Vorwaller of Soda Springs and Brandi Elliott and Glenna Elliott of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Elliott; and his great-grandparents.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at the Soda Springs LDS Fifth Ward Chapel with Bishop Corey Kunz officiating. Friends may call on Monday at the Fifth Ward Chapel, Third East and Fourth South, from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Soda Springs.

Wanda Mary Nieslanik

CARBONDALE, Colo. - Wanda Mary Nieslanik, 65,died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, surrounded by her family at her home after battling cancer for many years.

She was born July 5, 1942, in Carbondale, Colo., to Dormand and Margaret Daugherty. She was a lifetime resident of Carbondale, but lived briefly in California, where she graduated high school from Live Oak Union in 1960.

Her interests included the outdoors; traveling; sewing; cooking, especially her caramel rolls at Potato Days; and spending time with family and friends.

In 1966 she met Robert Nieslanik at a local barn dance.

They were later married on Nov. 15, 1969. They had four children.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Nieslanik; children, Terrie and husband John Short of Carbondale, Scott and wife Diane Nieslanik of Cokeville, Ellie and husband Roger Fazzi of Silt, Colo., and Carrie and husband Steve Tenold of Bonanza, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; Krystal and husband Preston, Sara, Brandi, Maegan, Jessica, Luke, Hannah, Shane, Tori, Oak and Bella; twin brother, Walter and wife Sondra Daugherty of Carbondale; sister, Margaret and husband Lyle Weishaar of Carbondale; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sherrill Kinderknecht; and baby boy, Randy. A rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Farnum Holt Chapel in Glenwood Springs, Colo. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Carbondale.

William "Bill" Robert Davis

LARAMIE - William Bill Robert Davis, 71, of Laramie, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital after a battle with heart disease.

He was born March 18, 1936, in Superior, the son of William and Frances (Zorko) Davis. He was raised and educated in Superior and graduated from Superior High School.

He married Evelyn McGarvey on Jan. 15, 1955, in Rock Springs.

He was employed at the University of Wyoming as an electrician until his retirement.

His interests included being an avid reader, hunting, fishing with his grandchildren, skiing, horse back riding, trail rides and the outdoors of Wyoming.

He was a member of St. Laurence O'Toole Catholic Church, Laramie Moose Lodge No. 390 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Jaycees and Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Davis of Laramie; two daughters, Carol Stoley and husband Mike of Manteca, Calif., and Joan Davis and husband Marc Sirota of New York City; sister, Frances Lesko of Rock Springs; brother, Norman Davis of Rock Springs; and three grandchildren, Spencer Stoley, Alexander Stoley and Christian Stoley, all of Manteca.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rosary and vigil services will be conducted at 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at St. Laurence O'Toole Catholic Church. The funeral liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at St. Laurence O'Toole Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James Schumacher as the celebrant.

Nellie M. Bassani

ROCK SPRINGS - Nellie M. Bassani, 84, of 1410 Palisades Way, Rock Springs, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Bassani died following a sudden illness.

She was born July 11, 1923, in Cambria, the daughter of Giuseppe and Amabile Rizzi Angeli. She attended schools in Superior and was a 1941 graduate of Superior High School. She also attended Henegar Business College in Salt Lake City.

She married Floyd Bassani on Aug. 23, 1952, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2005.

She was employed in the office at Union Mercantile Company for 20 years and retired in 1979. She also was employed at the Catholic School for many years.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Trentini Club of Wyoming and Young-at-Heart Senior Citizen Center.

Survivors include three sons, Anthony Bassani and Richard Bassani, both of Rock Springs, and Raymond Bassani and wife Robin of Salt Lake City; one daughter, Patricia Skrdlant and husband Todd of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Pierina Pearson of Rock Springs; grandchildren, Derek Skrdlant and Brian Skrdlant, both of Colorado Springs, and Connor Bassani, Nicholas Bassani and Isabella Bassani of Salt Lake City; three step-grandchildren, Lisa Dunlap, Brandi Dunlap and Brad Dunlap of Salt Lake City; and three nieces, Mary Lou Gladson, Judy Bassani and Elaine Bassani.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park Section of the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Monday afternoon and evening until 8 p.m. and again Tuesday morning at the chapel until time of funeral services.

Nick Jelaco

POCATELLO, Idaho - Nick Jelaco, 94, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, in his hometown of 52 years, Pocatello, Idaho.

He was born Dec. 6, 1912, in Dawson, N.M., to parents John and Anna (Sakulich) Jelaco.

He moved with his family from New Mexico to Rock Springs in 1928.

He was a veteran, having joining the U.S. Army on March 2, 1942.

Jelaco met Rowena (Wilson) Jelaco, his wife of 63 years, in Rock Springs.

He was also employed by the Union Pacific Coal Company as an electrician in Rock Springs. He and his wife moved to Pocatello in 1953, where he began working for the Westvaco, and later FMC, company. He worked in the maintenance department as an electrician at FMC until his retirement in 1975

His interests included fly fishing and bowling. His family said in the summer months he could be found on the local golf courses from sunrise to sunset. A near-scratch golfer for nearly his entire golfing life, he finished second in the city open in 1962.

He is survived by three sisters, Mary Yelonek of East Carbon, Utah, Ann Bozner of Riverside, Calif., and Katherine (Red) Marocki of Green River; wife, Rowena of Pocatello; two children, Nicki and husband Art Jones of Hansen, Idaho, and Ron and wife Courtney Jelaco of Seattle; Nickis family, daughter Jaime Stam of Ketchum, Idaho, and her two daughters Hailey and Elizabeth, and daughter Amanda and husband Howard Byrd of Tigard, Ore., and their daughter Jentry; Rons family, daughter Louisa; and a dog, Winkie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, John, Mike, Joe, Tony and George.

There will be a gathering of Jelacos friends and family on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. A social hour will begin at 3 p.m. and be followed by a short memorial service at 4 p.m. Cremation will take place and his ashes will be interred with his parents, brothers and many friends in the Mountain View cemetery in Rock Springs.

John Isaac Dolinar Sr.

GREEN RIVER - John Isaac Dolinar Sr., 60, of Green River, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County following an eight-month battle with lung and liver cancer.

He was born June 29, 1947, in Rock Springs, the son of John Valentine Dolinar and Ann Virginia Laurunen-Dolinar. He graduated from Grand County High School in Moab, Utah, in 1965. He attended the College of Southeastern Utah in Price, Utah, after which he went on a one-year geological exploration in Alaska. He returned to Green River to work with his stepfather, William H. Smith, in the private sector as a land surveyor.

He married Diane Katherine Arrieri. They were married for 37 years. They raised three children and had eight grandchildren.

Dolinars career with William H. Smith and Associates started in 1968, working as a professional land surveyor licensed in Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah. He eventually became the principal owner of the family company.

He was a member and past president of the Professional Land Surveyors of Wyoming and the Wyoming Engineering Society. He was a member of W.A.C.E.S. and the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping. He served on the Wyoming State Board and the Board of Western Federation of Professional Land Surveyors. He was also a member and past president of the Green River Rotary Club.

His interests included hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; children, John Isaac Ike Dolinar Jr. of Henderson, Nev., Meraiah Dawn and Andru Andy Leeper of Natchez, Miss., and William Henry and Anastasia Stacey Dolinar of Green River; grandchildren, Madison Eileen Dolinar, Mitchell Julius Dolinar, Marcus Isaac Dolinar, Kendra Ann Leeper, Ashlynn Morgan Leeper, expected baby Leeper, Alexis Michelle Dolinar and Abigail Katherin Dolinar; sisters, Diane and Robert Norman and Wendy Rowley of Moab; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Smith; father, John Dolinar; and stepfather, William H. Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at the Green River Bible Baptist Church, 800 Homestead Drive in Green River. Pastor Ted York will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Riverview cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, from 4-7 p.m.and at the church one hour prior to serv

Ronald "Polock" Allen Macioszek

GREEN RIVER - Ronald Polock Allen Macioszek, 62, of Green River died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Minn., the son of Walter Andrew and Irene Ann Bloch Macioszek.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1962-1968.

He married Sandra Jean Edwards on Aug. 12, 1967, in Hibbing, Minn.

They moved to Green River in 1973.

He was employed with General Chemical for 30 years, retiring in January 2004.

He was a member of the Steelworkers Union Local No. 15320, VFW post No. 2321, AFLDGR Local No. 1369 and a Lakeway Liquor charter member.

His interests included motorcycles, attending Sturgis rallies, music, hunting, camping with family and coffee with friends.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Green River; one son, Ronald A. Macioszek Jr. and wife Laurie of Green River; three daughters, Ronda Nieman and husband Robbie, Melissa Klepper and husband Robert and Krista Taylor and husband Clayton, all of Green River; and 12 grandchildren, Ashley, Bobby, Amanda, Randy, Trent, Jerred, Amber, Jayson, Christopher, Cody, Corey and Hailey, all of Green River.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; stepfather, Frank Turk; sisters, Arliss Harwood and Carol Erikson; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.

Pastor Russ Daines will officiate.

Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Cremation will take place following the services.
