Donna Jean Flynn

FORT LUPTON, Colo. - Donna Jean Flynn, 54, of Fort Lupton, Colo., died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, in the Hospice Unit at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo. She was a former Rock Springs resident.

She was born May 10, 1954, in Meeker, Colo., the daughter of Joseph and Doris (Tagert) Prockup. As a small girl, her family lived in Rangely, Colo. She later attended school in Meeker, graduating with the Meeker High School class of 1972. She attended Mesa College and the Pikes Peak Institute of Medical Technology in Colorado Springs, Colo.

She married Roger Flynn on July 21, 1982, in Rifle, Colo. The couple lived in Rifle, where Mrs. Flynn worked at a bank. In 1993 the family moved to Rock Springs, where she was a homemaker. Her family moved to Fort Lupton in 2008.

Her interests included spending time with her horses, dogs and cats; hiking in the mountains and snow skiing.

Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Roger; one son, Cody of Laramie; mother, Doris Prockup of Meeker; and one sister, Janet Dole of Grand Junction, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Meeker. Interment followed in the Highland cemetery of Meeker.

Joel Paul Caudle

ROCK SPRINGS - Joel Paul Caudle, 23, of 204 Midway, Rock Springs, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in Evanston. He had been a resident of Rock Springs since June 2003 and a former resident of Odessa, Texas.

He was born June 26, 1985, in Big Lake, Texas, the son of Joe and Anna Johnson Caudle. He attended school in Odessa, Texas.

His interest included music and playing many instruments.

His survivors include his parents, Joe and Anna Caudle of Rock Springs; one brother, Phillip Caudle of Rock Springs; three sisters, Jessica Nix and husband Joe of Rock Springs and Jennifer Rodgers and husband John and Angela Caudle, all of Midland, Texas; maternal grandparents, Erma Wagner and husband Floyd of Kerrville, Texas; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Frederick Johnson; and paternal grandparents, James and Alice Stella Lackey Caudle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2191 Century Blvd., Rock Springs. Pastor Jesse Ybarra will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to services Friday at the church

Josephine "Jo" Virginia Sikich

ROCK SPRINGS - Josephine 'Jo' Virginia Sikich, 87, of Rock Springs died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Dilner, Pa., the daughter of Warren B. Brewer and Josephine V. Holbert. She moved to Rock Springs when she was 23.

She married Louis 'Sonny' Sikich on Aug. 3, 1956, in Evanston.'

After her children were all in school, Mrs. Sikich worked in the Rock Springs School District Food Service Department for 23 years before retiring.

She was known by many as 'Granny' or 'Jo.'

Her interests included camping, hunting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Louis 'Sonny' Sikich of Rock Springs; one son, Warren Sikich and wife Jolene of Rock Springs; two daughters, Joy Errmouspe and husband John Pierre of Farson and Tammy Roysdon and husband Arthur of Phoenix; six grandchildren, Justin Soltis and wife Brittany of Rock Springs, Wesley Sikich and wife Eryn of San Diego, Stephanie Sweets and husband Marcelle of Rock Springs, Jessica Sikich and Darren Koons of Pinedale, Chelsea Cornell and husband Tom of Evans Mills, N.Y., and Sondra Young and husband Rico of Cheyenne; five great-grandchildren, Payten Soltis of Rock Springs, Ryland Sikich of San Diego, Kodee and Cielee Sweets of Rock Springs and Hailee of Cheyenne; and her cat, Hobie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Josephine Brewer.

Cremation has taken place. Private family memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

Karen Raehtz

GREEN RIVER - Karen Raehtz, 58, of 1445 Uinta Drive, Green River, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River. She had been a resident of the Villa for the past five years, but she moved to the Convalescent Center following a fall.

She was born April 5, 1950, in Detroit, the daughter of Russell and Joann Raehtz. She attended school in Jackson, Mich., and was a 1968 graduate of St. John's High School. Ms. Raehtz attended and graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in medical technology.

She was employed as a lab administrator at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for many years.She was named the Business and Professional Woman of the Year in 1996.

Her interests included gardening as she planted flowers in front of the Villa last spring, animals, being active in the YWCA and sharing travels with friends and family.

Survivors include three brothers, David Raehtz and wife Jan and Craig Raehtz and wife Vickie, all of Jackson, Mich., and Todd Raehtz and companion Tracey of Grasslake, Mich.; one sister, Kris Luciw and husband Richard of Jackson, Mich.; her adopted sister and best friend, Susan McKinney of Rock Springs; and nieces and nephews, Kevin, Casey, Adam, Sterling, Abbi, Zach, Lindsey, Rylie, Stacy, Eric and Andrew.

Following cremation, memorial services will be conducted in Jackson, Mich., where her family lives.

Anna Lee Gray Woffinden

AFTON - Anna Lee Gray Woffinden, 78, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, from complications of an interstitial pulmonary, or lung, disease at the Star Valley Medical Center in Afton.

She was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Bakersfield, Calif. to Donald Morell and Muriel Lucile Hopkins Gray. She grew up in Big Piney, although she attended first grade in Southern California. She helped her father and family build the Gray family home in 1947. She graduated from Big Piney High School in 1947 as the salutatorian.

She married Rulon E. 'Shrimp' Woffinden on Nov. 24, 1950, in Kemmerer. Their marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in August 1967. Four children were born to this union, Keyth Ann, Robin G., Kyla Kay and R. Morell.

Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1995, after 45 years of marriage.

They lived in Kemmerer and Rock Springs for short periods. The family moved to Big Piney on Dec. 24, 1959.

Mrs. Woffinden briefly worked for the telephone company. In 1958, she started working as a part-time postal clerk in the Big Piney Post Office and continued until she retired in October 1988. She also worked the linotype for the Big Piney Examiner, which was owned by her grandfather, George Hopkins, and helped her mother in Gray Gifts and Flowers.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including Junior Sunday School president, Young Women's and Relief Society secretary, family history consultant and visiting teacher. She was the Big Piney Ward membership clerk for 24 years.

Her interests included genealogy and the history of the people and towns in Sublette County. She also compiled local marriages, births and deaths in 'Tidbits,' which covered 1912 through 2007. She was working on 2008 at the time of her death.

She was also a supporter of the Upper Green River Valley Museum in Big Piney and the Big Piney Library.

She is survived by her children, Keyth Palmer, Robin and wife Denise Woffinden, Kyla Woffinden and Morell and wife Melanie Woffinden, all of Big Piney; grandchildren, Jared and wife Heidi Phillips of Big Piney, Clint Phillips of Rock Springs, John Wintermote of Shoshoni, Seth Wintermote of Big Piney/Shoshoni, Jordon Cooper of Big Piney, Niko and husband Stevie Hernandez of LaBarge and Darby Woffinden and Devoni Woffinden, both of Big Piney; and great-grandchildren, Gary Phillips, Warren Phillips and LaTisha Phillips of Big Piney, Danae Gomez, Darian Phillips and Michael Phillips of Rock Springs and Michael Hernandez of LaBarge; one sister, Donna Mullens of Evanston; three sister-in-laws, Elaine Woffinden Webb of Paris, Idaho, and Wilma Woffinden Mauchley and Rose Marie Woffinden, both of Logan, Utah; one aunt, Irene Yeck Hopkins of Lander; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Donald David Woffinden; and one great-granddaughter, Siera Marquie Phillips.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday Aug. 31, 2008, at the Big Piney LDS Church. A viewing will be conducted one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Plainview cemetery.

Lawrence Bolen Sr.

ROCK SPRINGS - Lawrence Bolen Sr., 71, of 505 Fourth Ave. W., Rock Springs, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Rock Springs.

He was born April 21, 1937, in Rock Springs, the son of Mike and Mae Armstrong Bolen. He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a Rock Springs High School graduate. He also attended two years of college and obtained an associate's degree. He married the former Delores Ann Theifault on Oct. 20, 1970, in Rock Springs.

Mr. Bolen was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for 25 years and retired in 2002 as an engineer.

Mr. Bolen was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community.

His interests included fishing, hunting, playing dice, gambling and camping.

Survivors include one son, Lawrence Bolen Jr. and wife Josie of Sandy, Utah; one daughter, Monica DeCoteau of Belcourt, N.D.; three sisters, Carol Scherer of Simla, Colo., Louise Jean Grimes of Wheatland and Sally Robinson of Roosevelt, Utah; seven grandchildren, Leeann, T.J., Natonie, Tashawna, Alexandrea, Daniel and Bryson; six great-grandchildren, Dayton, Ty, T.J. Jr., Mahkya, Allie and Tobias; one aunt; one uncle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; aunts; and uncles.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St, Rock Springs. A memorial rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Vase Chapel. Military graveside services and inurnment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the Vase Chapel.

Mary L. Olenski

VESTAL, N.Y. - Mary L. Olenski, 87, of Vestal, N.Y., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home in Johnson City, N.Y.

She was a 1938 graduate of Rock Springs High School.

She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Vestal.

She and her husband were previous owners of Mary's Restaurant, Hinman's Corners, for 50 years. During World War II, she served as a secretary at Fort Francis E. Warren in Cheyenne.

She is survived by her five sons and their spouses, Mitchell Olenski Jr. of Vestal, Michael and wife Ruth Olenski of Canton, Ohio, Matthew and wife Sherrie Olenski of Strafford, N.H., Mark and wife Sharon Olenski of Jacksonville, Fla., and Marten and wife Dawn Olenski of Binghamton, N.Y.; one sister, Frana Begovich of Rock Springs; seven grandchildren, Rob Finch of Dayton, Ohio, Christopher Olenski of Binghamton, Amie Olenski of Dayton, Lisa Olenski of Georgia, Lara Olenski of Dayton, Elizabeth Olenski of Lincoln, Neb., and Jeremy Olenski of Binghamton; and several great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mike Sr. and Natalia Begovich; husband, Mitchell Olenski; two brothers, Michael and wife Philomena and Tony Begovich and wife Leah; and one sister, Katie Begovich.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at the Laskowski Funeral Home and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Entombment followed in the Calvary cemetery.

Sharon L. (Richins) Bunning

PINEDALE - Sharon L. (Richins) Bunning, 60, of Pinedale, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in Pinedale after a battle with cancer.

She was a long-term resident of both Rock Springs and Pinedale.

She was born Sept. 19, 1947, in Coalville, Utah. She attended schools in Evanston and graduated from Evanston High School in 1966.

She also attended the University of Wyoming for one year before marrying and starting a family in Rock Springs.

Her interests included meeting out-of-town visitors while working at various local restaurants and motels in Pinedale.

She is survived by four daughters, Kim Bunning of Boise, Idaho, Barbara Casper and husband Duke of Green River, Jeanne Davis and husband Mike of Pinedale and Kristen Bunning of Sheridan; one brother, Fred Richins and wife Diane of Evanston; one sister, Judy Richins of Evanston; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Alice Richins.

A celebration of life will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at the LDS Church in Pinedale, 221 E. North St. The family will receive visitors from 1-4 p.m.

Steven Eugene Perry

ROCK SPRINGS - Steven Eugene Perry, 25, of Rock Springs, died Monday Aug. 25, 2008, in Evanston from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He had been a resident of Rock Springs for the past two years and a former resident of Salt Lake City.

He was born Dec. 24, 1982, in Salt Lake City, the son of Zid Jason Perry and Julie Marie Lopez. He attended schools in West Valley City, Utah, and was employed by Red Horse Oil at the time of his death.

His interests included fishing, camping, music, video games and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Zid Perry of Rock Springs and Julie Lopez of Salt Lake City; one brother, T.J. Calbert of Sandy, Utah; paternal grandparents, Stanley and Dot Perry of Murray, Utah; maternal grandparents, Leo and Carol Lopez of Magna, Utah; three aunts; 12 uncles; and 10 cousins.

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of his life for family and friends will take place at a later date.

John P. Cochran

GREEN RIVER - John P. Cochran, 88, of Green River, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River.

A longtime resident of Green River, he died following a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 24, 1920, in Denver, the son of Harry and Veta West Cochran. He attended schools in Kansas and Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1939 from high school in Merrysville, Kan.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Mr. Cochran was employed as a storekeeper and eventually became a supervisor for the Union Pacific Railroad, working for 33 years until his retirement in 1979.

He was a member of the Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Green River and the Elks.

His interests included hunting, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include one niece, Barbara Jean Hopgood of Blackfoot, Idaho; and one nephew, Jimmy Cochran of Spokane, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harry, Lyle, Harvey and George Cochran; and one sister, Helen.

Cremation has taken place. At Mr. Cochran's request, there will be no services.

Walter Wally Walbridge Sr.

EVANSTON - Walter Wally Walbridge Sr., 65, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at his home in Evanston.

He was born Oct. 3, 1942, in Denver, the son of Dale Lance and Nancy Minnie (Curtis) Walbridge.

His interests included guns, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Ken D. and wife Gail Walbridge of Evanston and Mikel L. Walbridge of New Mexico; grandchildren, Kellie Walbridge, Josh Walbridge, Todd Walbridge, Tiffany Walbridge and Jeff Walbridge; one great-granddaughter, Hope Hunt; mother, Nancy Ettles; canine companion, Bogie; and sisters, Donna Southwick of Glenrock, Patty Welch of Watson, Ill., and Judy Leach of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his son, Walter W. Walbridge Jr.; and father, Dale Walbridge.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Crandall Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.

William "Bill" Clarence Moses

PORTLAND, Ore. - William 'Bill' Clarence Moses, 73, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, in Portland, Ore., surrounded by his family at his bedside.

He was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Jellico, Tenn. He spent his high school years in Rock Springs, where he graduated from high school in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1956.

After his retirement, his interests included tending his garden, working on home improvement projects, doing research on the Internet and playing with his yellow lab, Biscuit.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Roger of Westminster, S.C.; daughter, Dawn of Danville, Calif.; four stepchildren, Patrick Morton and Daniel Morton of Portland, Sara Schiller of Medford, Ore., and Anne Fureby of Salt Lake City; sister, Carolyn Whaley of Johnson City, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Emily, Joshua, Anne, Robbie, Lauren, Cassie, Emily Mae and Audrey Renee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Marzellia Moses.

Services were conducted Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at the Lincoln Memorial Park Mortuary. Internment followed in the Willamette National cemetery in Portland.

Martha Lucille Nickell

JOHNSON, Kan. - Martha Lucille Nickell, 81, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She was a longtime resident of Johnson, Kan., moving to Wyoming in June 2007 to be with her family.

She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Loneoak, Ark., the daughter of Claude Mon and Anna Mae Elizabeth (Davis) Howard.

She spent her working career in law enforcement.

She married Lewis Alden Nickell on April 11, 1947, in Alice, Texas. He preceded her in death in October 1997.

Her interests included painting, crafting, reading, gambling and spending time with her grandchildren and family members. Mrs. Nickell and her husband would winter in south Texas.

She is survived by six sons, Steve of Carson City, Nev., Darrell of Wheaton, Mo., Stan and wife Karen of Boise, Idaho, Don and wife Kathy of Burrton, Kan., Lewis and wife Janelle of Rock Springs and Jay and wife Patty of Douglas; daughter, Sharon Holtwick and husband Kelly of Douglas; two sisters, Margaret Morgan of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Judy Crawford of Alice; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson. The Rev. Don Hasty will officiate. Interment will follow at the Stanton County cemetery in Johnson.
