Allen Leroy Collingwood, Jr.

Allen "Duff' Leroy Collingwood, Jr., 50, a lifetime resident of Greybull, died at his residence May 29, 2000.

He was born in Greybull on Jan. 30, 1950, the son of Allen and Faye Collingwood, Sr. He graduated from Greybull High School and following graduation he attended Northwest College and the University of Wyoming.

He spent his life working as an auto mechanic, and aircraft mechanic at Lockheed Manufacturing where he worked on the SR71 Blackbird. He moved back to Greybull where he was employed at Hawkins and Powers Aviation. He loved airplanes.

He is survived by his father Allen Sr. of Greybull, sisters Pam Miller of Worland, Sandra Baugh of Torrington and Ranee Collingwood of Cody and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was proceded in death by his mother and brother Robert.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held later.

A memorial fund has been set up at Big Horn Federal with proceeds to go to the Greybull Senior Center.

Margueritte Whitlock

Margueritte B. Ward Whitlock, 91, of Powell died May 31, 2000, at Powell Hospital.

Funeral services were June 5 at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell. Burial followed in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Shelli Ivie

Former Cody resident Shelli Ivie, 39, died Jan. 19, 2000, at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 26, 1960, in Afton, the daughter of Rex Dana Ivie and Phyllis Miller Ivie. She spent her early years in the Star Valley and Cody areas. She received her bachelor's degree from Montana State University.

She married " target="_blank">married Brian Neumann and they later divorced.

She lived in Bozeman for 10 years, Billings for four years and spent the last five years in Idaho Falls, where she worked for Barnes and Noble bookstore, Idaho Falls Country Club and most recently for the Shelley (Idaho) School District. She also made and sold intricate beadwork.

Shelli was an outdoor-oriented person and loved to camp, fish and do anything outside. She had many longtime friends and the loves of her life were her twins, Rexann Dakota and Sonja Cheyenne. She was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include her twin daughters Rexann and Sonja of Idaho Falls, mother and step-father Phyllis and Harold Buttars of Idaho Falls, sisters Barbara and Mac McAbee of Etna, Wyo., Cindy and Gary Mills of Idaho Falls, brothers Terry and Angie Ivie of Pocatello, Idaho, Scott and Julie Ivie of Cody, step-brothers Kenny and Mark Buttars of Idaho Falls, step-sisters Kathy Buttars, Lorna Grange and Carol Hunter, all of Idaho Falls, and Marci Target of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents and brothers Michael and David Ivie.

Memorial services were Jan. 24 in Idaho Falls.

Kathryn M. Alsup

Kathryn M. Alsup, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, in Cody.

She was born Sept. 1, 1912, in Columbus City, Iowa, the daughter of Mark and Iva Bell Tedford Myer.

Kate grew up in Casper and attended schools there. Following graduation, she attended the University of Wyoming.

She married " target="_blank">married William R. Alsup on May 26, 1934, and the couple came to Cody that year with Bill's employment with Texas Oil Co.

In 1944, Bill and Kate opened Cody Sporting Goods, which they owned and operated until their retirement in 1984. Kate was also the civil defense weather monitor during World War II. She had the longest service record of any home weather monitor.

Kate was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed playing golf and loved to play bridge. She was a past member of the Ladies Golf Association. Her family was of primary importance to her.

Survivors include her husband Bill of Cody, sons William and Ann Alsup of Las Vegas, and Patrick and Wanda Alsup of Apache Junction, Ariz., daughter Linda and Paul Campbell of Cody, brother Mark Myer of Casper, grandchildren William, Sharon, Daniel, Tobie, Mark and Steven Alsup, and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom Myer and sisters Emma Knadler and Dorothea "Dode" Elsee.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice in Kate's memory.

Rev. R.N. Buswell

The Rev. R.N. Buswell, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at West Park Hospital.

Robert Nelson Buswell was born April 15, 1912, in Meriden, Iowa, the fifth of eight children. He attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and graduated in 1935 and from McCormick Theological Seminary in 1938.

He married " target="_blank">married Lillian Isaac in the fall of 1938. Together, they started his ministry in Montana from 1938-44 in the communities of Belfry, Bridger, Bearcreek, Forsyth, Colstrip and Hysham.

From 1944-78 he was the minister at First Presbyterian Church in Cody. From 1978-88 he served as interim pastor for churches in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Alaska.

In his church work, he served in many local, state and national capacities including moderator for Synod of Rockies for the Presbyterian Church. He ministered to Japanese families at the Heart Mountain Relocation Center near Cody.

Civic participation included being a member of the Cody Planning and Zoning Commission, Governor's State Labor Relations Commission, Park County CROP organization, Council of Community Services, Rolling Meals, Yellowstone Park religious services, Park County Department of Public Assistance and Social Services, and Central Wyoming Council of Boy Scouts.

He was a charter member of the Cody Rotary Club and served as president of the PTA. He was chaplain to the Eagle Scouts attending the Jubilee Jamboree in England in 1957.

"Buzz," as he was known to most, established the first Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop and Explorer Post in Cody.

A few of the many honors and awards he received during his time in Cody include Citizen of the Year, Silver Beaver, which is the highest award in Scouting, and Pastor Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church.

Buzz officially retired in 1978, but continued until his death his ministry with weddings and funerals and all the things he had done his whole career in Cody.

At his retirement, he said, "In 34 years as Presbyterian pastor in Cody, I've married " target="_blank">married people, baptized their children and married " target="_blank">married their children. I've gotten to know them and they have gotten to know me.

"It's a rare gift to enter into every part of people's lives - birth to death; exciting to join in their joys - rewarding to be of comfort in family need and sorrow," he said.

Buzz was in the process of writing the story of his life and the family would like people to submit their favorite stories about him for inclusion in the book. Submissions may be sent to R.N. Buswell Book, 2201 Kerper Blvd., Cody.

After the death of his first wife in 1994, he re-married " target="_blank">married in 1996 and is survived by his wife Shirley, sister Norma Wilson of Peoria, Ariz., sons Lloyd of Lynnwood, Wash., and Mark of Colorado Springs, Colo., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday at First Presbyterian Church with interment following in Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the R.N. Buswell Memorial Fund at Community First Bank, 1130 Sheridan Ave.

Eva Mae Cottrell

Former Cody resident Eva Mae Cottrell, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.

She was born May 22, 1916, in Ravella, Mont., the daughter of George and Olga Fredrickson Robertson. Her family moved to Worland while she was a young child. Eva grew up in Worland and attended schools there.

She married " target="_blank">married Arthur D. Cottrell on March 7, 1936, in Thermopolis. Mr. Cottrell preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1997.

Art and Eva moved to Lander in 1942 when he was transferred by the telephone company. They were later transferred to Thermopolis for a short time, then to Buffalo for several years and finally to Cody in 1958.

Soon after their move to Cody, Eva began working for Husky Oil Company as a computer operator and bookkeeper in 1959. She was employed by Huskey for 18 years.

Eva loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed square dancing, walking and needlework crafts such as embroidering and crocheting. Following their retirement, Art and Eva spent winter months in Mesa, Ariz., until Art's death. Eva was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jack Matheny; a daughter-in-law, Liz Cottrell, and grandchildren Scott and Lori Matheny, all of Gillette, Wesann and Boyd Brown of Gillette, Terri and Leo Hinkel of Bangkok, Thailand, Sonja and Jerry Geer of Gillette, Greg and Linda Cottrell of Gillete, Debbie and Luke Russell of Idaho, and Christy and Tim Palu of Gillette; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Robertson of Arizona and Bill Robertson of Kalispell, Mont.; sisters, Mary Streett and Helen Smith, both of Hemet, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Thelma Robertson, of Yuma, Ariz., and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, a son, Lyle Gene Cottrell; her parents; and two brothers, Jim and Jack Robertson.

Funeral services were Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Cody Stake Center. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Delores A. Dunn

Delores Ann Dunn, 62, of Palmer, Alaska, died at her home Jan. 28, 2000.

Mrs. Dunn was born in Caney, Kan., on March 3, 1937, to Roy and Clara Long Cassidy and graduated in 1955 from Riverton High School.

She and her family moved to Alaska from Wyoming in 1965. She worked as a registrar at Anchorage Community College 1965-72.

In 1984, she and her husband left Alaska to become "snowbirds" and travel. She returned in December 1998 to be with family while being treated for cancer.

She enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and fishing.

Her family remembers her as a beautiful, strong woman with a joy for life that touched everyone she met. She greatly enjoyed spending her last year with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Dunn is survived by her daughters Lynn Aro and Stacey Sargent and grandchildren Blake, Carrie, Sara, Sean and Abby, all of Anchorage, her mother Clara Cassity of Basin, sister Joyce Jones of Meeteetse and brothers Jim and Gary Cassity of Riverton, nephews Jim Roberson and John Jones and niece Susan Roberson, all of Cody, nephew Dave Roberton of Meeteetse, and other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and husband Philip Dunn.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Mat-Su, 3051 E. Palmer-Wasilla Highway, Wasilla, Alaska, 99654.

Homer Paul Pape

Homer Paul Pape, 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Powell Hospital.

He was born March 18, 1923, in Oklahoma, the son of John F. and Edna A. Brunkau Pape. He grew up and attended schools in Eaton, Colo. He moved to Worland in 1949, where he met his wife.

On Jan. 3, 1950, he married " target="_blank">married Anita B. Albert in Thermopolis. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Cody and Homer began working for Willard Rhodes. The couple later moved back to Worland, where he worked in the oilfields.

In 1959 they moved to the Gas Hills near Riverton and Homer worked for the uranium mines, and then in 1974 the family moved to Meeteetse. At the time of his death Homer was working for Park County.

He was a rock hound who enjoyed hunting, fishing and lapidary work. He enjoyed gardening and was an outdoor person. He was a member of the AFL/CIO.

Survivors include his wife Anita, children Paulette Dill of Greeley, Colo., Paige and spouse Joe Paisley, and Paul Pape, all of Meeteetse, brothers Harold of Ridgecrest, Calif., Robert of Springfield, Calif., sisters Florence Milton of Carmel, Calif., and Violet Thompson of Eaton, Colo., grandchildren Danny, Tammy, Daren, Matt and Josh and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Fred Pape.

Funeral services were Saturday at Pioneer Baptist Church in Meeteetse with interment following in Meeteetse Cemetery.
