Arnie L. Stidham

Arnie L. Stidham, 60, died at home in Billings with his family by his side Aug. 25, 2001, after a long battle with emphysema.

He was born March 28, 1941, in Clark, the son of Ethel and Bert Stidham. He was the fourth from the youngest of 16 children and spent his younger years in Clark, Burns, Ore., and Belfry, Mont.

Arnie quit school when he was a junior in high school to take care of his dad, who also had emphysema, and his three younger brothers while his mother went to look for work.

On Dec. 23, 1960, he married " target="_blank">married Sandra Blair in White Sulphur Springs, Mont., and from that marriage he had two sons, Rod and Randy.

On Jan. 14, 1967, he married " target="_blank">married Sharon Dahlman and from that marriage he had two sons, Payne and Justin.

Arnie worked at UKV Lumber, Northwest Engineering and Yellowtail Dam in 1964 before working for Firestone Tire Co. 1965-67. He then went to work for L.P. Anderson Tire Co. and worked there 29 years until ill health forced him to retire.

His favorite hobbies were camping, fishing and boating. He loved to fish Bennett Creek in Clark and catch little brown trout. During the last few months of his life he enjoyed spending time with special friends Jerry and Bev Mollett.

Arnie was a special person and had many friends and was a good dad, husband and brother.

One of his biggest regrets before he passed away was he was never able to take a special little boy, Caeden, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Sharon, sons Rod (Kim) Stidham and grandsons Brandon and Justin of Enterprise, Ore., Randy (Cindy) Stidham and granddaughters Amanda, Andrea, Cassie, Darcy, Tasha, Brandy and Ashley of Havre, Mont., Payne (Nichole) Stidham and grandsons Caeden and Colten, and youngest son Justin, all of Billings, his mother Ethel Stidham of White Sulphur Springs, sisters Opal (Don) McGuffey, Ruby (Wes) Vaught of Cody, Marge Ahern of Park City, Mont., Florence Krueger and Argetta (Pete) Williams of Burns, brothers Leonard (Linda) Stidham and Wes (Barb) Stidham of White Sulphur Springs, a special sister-in-law, Marlene Stidham of Great Falls, Mont., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arnie was preceded in death by his father, sister Viola and brothers Lester, Ray, Bert and Roy.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be Thursday, Aug. 30, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist in Billings. Private interment will be in Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice or the American Lung Association.

David Paul

David Paul, 49, died at his home in Cody on Nov. 27, 2001, of natural causes.

He was born in Bismark, N.D., on Aug. 25, 1952, to Nick and Rosemary (Schmidt) Paul.

He served in the Army for three years, spending one year in Germany. David loved the outdoors and spent his time fishing, hunting and taking drives in his pickup to watch wildlife.

He paid special attention and always visited his nieces and nephews on their birthdays. He also loved to return to North Dakota and visit his uncles and aunts, cousins and friends.

David is survived by his parents of Cody, brother Thaddeus (Kris) Paul of Powell, sisters Nicky (Wayne) Scott of Cody, Debbie (Stuart) Eckhardt of Powell and Cindy (Jay) Hanson of Colorado Springs, Colo., nephews Jason Scott, Jake Eckhardt, Dustin Paul and Jeremy Paul and nieces Jessica Eckhardt and Stephanie Paul.

Mass of the Christian Burial was Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery with the VFW Honor Guard presenting graveside military honors.

Mary Elaine Housel

Mary Elaine Bever Housel, 85, who proudly called herself a Garland homesteader's daughter, died at the West Park Long Term Care Center on Nov. 1, 2001.

She was born in Garland on May 23, 1916, the only daughter of Ora Eston Bever and Ruby May Bever. She attended schools in Garland and Powell and graduated from Powell High School in 1934.

Mrs. Housel graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1938 with a degree in commerce and education. She was president of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was inducted into Spurs and Mortar Board. Following college she worked in Omaha, Neb., and Cheyenne and later worked for Sen. Joseph O'Mahoney in Washington, D.C.

She married " target="_blank">married Jerry Winters Housel in Cody on July 8, 1941.

She served on many community boards and civic organizations, including the Cody School Board, Play Readers, Rolling Meals, Cody Recreation Board, P.E.O. and Eastern Star.

Mrs. Housel is survived by her children James Robert Housel, Jerry Laine Hogg, John Ora Housel and Peter Elliott Housel and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers James Phil Bever and Robert Eugene Bever.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 10 a.m., Nov. 9, at Christ Episcopal Church in Cody.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Northwest College Foundation, 231 W. 6th, Powell, 82435.

Lawrence G. Kidd

Lawrence G. Kidd, 74, longtime resident of Cody, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at West Park Hospital after a short illness.

He was born Sept. 20, 1927, to Georgia and Romey Berry Kidd in Cane Hill, Ark.

He married " target="_blank">married Joan Parker on Aug. 20, 1949, in Edmond, Okla. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, singing and playing western swing music. He played with stars such as Bob Wills, Buck Owens and Red Stegall.

Survivors include his wife Joan, sons Larry, Mike and Steve, daughters Melanie Brock and Melody Cunningham, all of Cody, sister Mary Melton of Lincoln, Ark., and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Ballard Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at the Riverside Cemetery in Cody.

Beulah Butler Johnson Wagner

Beulah Butler Johnson Wagner, 87, died Nov. 8, 2001, in Cody.

She was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Lake Providence, La., the daughter of Rev. Roberts P. Johnson of Charleston, S.C., and Beulah Lyon Butler of New Orleans, La. She was the youngest of three children.

Beulah grew up in Monticello, Fla., and St. Francisville, La., and earned her bachelor's from Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans, La.

After college she worked as a social worker and in the business office of a telephone company. During World War II she worked in a piston ring factory near Washington, D.C.

Beulah's primary profession was teaching. She taught in schools in Cody, New Orleans, Alexandria, Va., Sault Saint Marie, Mich., and Port Aransas, Texas.

She married " target="_blank">married Stewart K. Wagner in Casper on July 12, 1946.

In 1953 the Wagners moved to Cody. Stew went to work for Husky Oil Co. where he was employed until his retirement. Beulah taught remedial reading at Westside, Eastside and Sunset schools.

In 1973, Beulah and Stew became "snowbirds," living in Cody during the summer and joining a wonderful new community of friends in Port Aransas during the winter.

Beulah was a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church. In addition to her contributions to the church, Beulah was active in AAUW, Playreaders and the Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by daughter Laura Wagner (Gary) Balch of Nevada City, Calif., son Miles Stewart (Amy Cohen) Wagner and grandchildren Amanda Rose Cohen Wagner and Stewart Cohen Wagner, all of Brookline, Mass.

She was preceded in death by Stewart in March 1994 and her brothers Roberts Poinsett Johnson Jr. and Frank Butler Johnson.

The family acknowledges her Cody friends and home health care workers for their years of support. Beulah will be remembered for her compassion, wisdom, laughter and joy in life.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Christ Episcopal Church.

Park Fredrick Gail

Master builder and businessman Park Fredrick Gail, 60, died at his home of heart complications Nov. 7, 2001. He was a life-long resident of Cody.

He was born here March 13, 1941, to Walt and Lura (Borner) Gail. He attended Cody schools, graduating from Cody High School in 1959. He played center for the state championship football team in 1959, earning all conference honors.

In fall 1959 he joined the Wyoming National Guard Artillery Division and completed basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Mo.

He married " target="_blank">married Bettye Wogoman on Jan. 4, 1962, and they were married " target="_blank">married 20 years. Together they raised two children, Doug and Kim. Kim is married " target="_blank">married to Josh Howell and is a homemaker in Denver. They have two children, Hailey and Austin. Doug is co-owner of an environmental consulting company and recently married " target="_blank">married Tina Caldwell in southeast Idaho.

Park was a fourth generation building contractor in Cody. His great-grandfather Wilbur Gail was a builder in the early 1900s, followed by his grandfather Fred S. Gail and father Walt Gail.

Walt and Park built several "show homes" together in the Cody area. He purchased Gail Construction from Walt in the mid-1970s.

He was recognized as a master builder and particularly took pride in the restoration of historic buildings. An example of his craftsmanship is the replica of the Frederic Remington Studio at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.

He was an active member of Cody Lions Club, serving as president in 1985, was involved in Ducks Unlimited and was a 38-year member of the Elks Lodge.

Bird hunting with his beloved springer spaniels, fishing, travel and roaming the Wyoming hills were among his favorite activities.

He is survived by his mother Lura Gail of Cody, son Doug (Tina) Gail of Idaho Falls, Idaho, daughter Kim (Josh) Howell of Denver, grandchildren Hailey and Austin, sister Beryl Churchill of Powell, aunts Bethel Hoge of Michigan, Thelma Spiegelberg of Cody and Susan Kant of Lance Creek, Wyo., and three nephews.

His grandparents and father preceded him in death.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Ballard Funeral Home. Donations can be sent to Ducks Unlimited, c/o Tom Snyder, 1908 15th, Cody, or Cody Lions Club, P.O. Box 786, Cody, or a charity of choice.

John Carl Minter

John Carl Minter, 40, died suddenly in Englewood, Colo., on Oct. 31, 2001.

John was born May 22, 1961, in Lansdale, Montgomery County, Pa., a suburb of Philadelphia. He moved with his family to Cody in 1963.

John attended Cody schools, Valley Forge Military Academy, Yellowstone Boys Ranch and graduated from Billings West High School. He loved distance running and received a varsity letter in cross-country at Valley Forge.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, reading about the Civil War, target shooting with his black powder rifle, sketching wildlife and horseback riding.

John was employed at Denver Marriott City Center for the past 15 years, receiving many employee awards. He was respected by his fellow workers and will be sorely missed by the Community Care staff of Dr. Lou and Debbie Bruno, Bill Guenther and Mike McCoy, his family in Denver for nearly 20 years.

He is survived by his parents Jim and Marilyn Minter of Cody, sisters Marybeth Minter, DVM, of Kelly and Susan Minter of Riverton, aunts and uncles David and Sarah Byrne of Ambler, Pa., Emily Anders of Abington, Pa., Clark and Barbara Minter of Telford, Pa., and nine cousins.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Valley Cemetery on the South Fork with the Rev. Lawrence Vinson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

Memorials in John's name may be made to Park County Mental Health Center, 1701 Stampede Ave., Suite 201, Cody.

Dorothy M. Caturia

Dorothy M. Caturia, 80, of Torrington died Nov. 3, 2001, at Mountain Towers Healthcare Center in Cheyenne.

She was born April 26, 1921, in St. Paul, Minn.

Mrs. Caturia was a dental technician and member of the Altar and Rosary Society in Cody.

She is survived by son Dennis (Betty) Edwards of Riverton, daughter Claudia (Steven) Jensen of Torrington, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Caturia, parents Fred and Josphine Englehart, brothers Fred and Joseph Englehart and sister Louis Koontz.

Rosary will be at St. Rose Catholic Church in Torrington at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, with mass at 10 a.m. The Rev. Kevin Koch will be celebrant.

Cremation has taken place and her urn will later be buried" target="_blank">buried at Mountview Cemetery in Billings.
