Betty Lou Lloyd
May 5, 2007

Lloyd, Betty Lou, 72, of Laramie died Saturday May 5, 2007 at her home. She was born September 4, 1934 in Denver, Colorado the daughter of Gilbert and Twila (Owens) Beets, Sr. The family had moved to Hanna, Wyoming where she graduated from high school. She married Ellery Lloyd in Laramie, Wyoming April 1, 1960. She worked for the University of Wyoming in the custodial department for many years. She enjoyed her family and loved crocheting and outings. She also loved to play games with family.
She attended Harvest Christian Center and was a member of the Women of the Moose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ellery, a son Randy Lloyd, and a sister Barbara Beets.
She is survived by a daughter Barbara Becker and husband Tim; a sister Nancy Shaner and husband Don; a brother Junior Beets and wife Nora all of Laramie, WY; grandchildren, Andy Branson, Chris Branson, and Matt Branson all of Laramie, WY; and Drew Becker and Amanda Becker both of Kearney, NE. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home with the Reverends Dave Garrett and John Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Garrett, Chuck Branson, Steve Rauer, Michael Honea, Dean Gallegos and Casey Deren. Honorary pallbearers will be Monty Sullivan, Larry Beets, Terry Beets, Garrett Engen, Josh Blake and Drew Becker.
Visitation will be held Friday May 11 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Harvest Christian Center, 4700 E. Skyline Drive, Laramie, WY 82070.

Betty M. Schroeder
April 22, 2007

Betty M. (Brosious) Schroeder, 95, of Laramie, died, Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born June 28, 1911 in Kane, WY to Joseph T. and Mary M. (Herren) Brosious, pioneers of Big Horn County. She grew up in the Kane community and attended elementary grades there. She graduated from Thermopolis High School in 1929. On July 12, 1932 she married Henry L. Schroeder in Billings, MT. They had two daughters Evelyn Janet Phifer of Pasco, WA and Janice Lynn Harvey of Laramie. She taught for three years in Big Horn County. Later she attended the University of Wyoming and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1961. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Laramie school system for many years. After receiving her degree she taught third grade at Beitel Elementary School for thirteen years.
She was a fifty year member of Snowy Range Chapter 45 O.E.S., a member of the United Methodist Church for over fifty years, and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She and her husband spent many years after their retirement traveling and spent winters in Wickenburg, AZ for eleven years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, a sister and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters Evelyn Janet Phifer and husband Zack of Pasco, WA; Janice Lynn Harvey of Laramie; sister Maxine Bushonge of Hedgesville, WV; six grandchildren Jay Weber and wife Joanne of Pasco, WA; Beth Darby and husband Mark of Somonauk, IL; Dr. Kyle Weber and wife Sue of Kalispell, MT; Joni Darby of Sandwich, IL; Robin L. Hastings and husband Terrell of Greeley, CO; Mark Harvey of Fort Collins, CO; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Betty’s name to The National Wildlife Federation; 11100 Wildlife Center Dr. Reston, VA 20190-5362.

Clara A. Hayden
May 12, 2007

Hayden, Clara A., 93, of Laramie died Saturday May 12, 2007 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. She was born April 30, 1014 in Elwood, Nebraska the daughter of John and Katheran (Jorges) Seiz. She attended Elwood Public Schools and the Nebraska Business College in Hastings, Nebraska. She married Theodore Hayden September 8, 1940 in Saratoga, Wyoming, living in Rawlins until 1942 when they moved to Laramie. She had been employed at the University of Wyoming and the Albany County School District, retiring in 1974. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards and traveling.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Holliday Circle, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, AARP, Women of the Moose, the Heritage Club and several card clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters, one great granddaughter, a niece and nephew.
She is survived by her son James Hayden and wife Sue of Cheyenne, WY; a daughter Sharleen Kominsky and husband Ray of Jackson, WY; six grandchildren, Ted and Jim Hayden; Michelle, Nichole, Douglas and Heather Kominsky; and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Monday May 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 107 So. 7th Street, Laramie, WY; or to Meals on Wheels.

Curtis T. Shoefelt
April 28, 2007

Curtis Todd Shoefelt, 42, of Denver, formerly of Laramie, passed away on April 28, 2007 at his home in Denver. Curtis was born in Laramie on April 26, 1965 to Donald and Wilma (Cairns) Shoefelt. He graduated from Laramie High School and the University of Wyoming. After graduating from University of Wyoming, Curtis worked as a computer programmer in Denver.
He is survived by his parents, Don and Wilma Shoefelt; his brother Roger Shoefelt and wife Kathy; nephews, Cliff and Kevin; his brother Mike Shoefelt and wife Debbie; and nephews, Bradley and Ryan, all of Laramie.
Cremation has taken place with a private family service.

Helen Louise Ross
May 7, 2007

Helen Louise Ross, 93, of Laramie, died, Monday, May 7, 2007 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
Helen was born June 20, 1913, one month after the death of her father. Helen Louise Moore was raised by her mother, Mary C. Miller in Atoka, OK alongside her siblings; Mable and Raymond McJunkins, whom have all preceded her in death.
After moving to Laramie in 1940 Helen worked hard, married Harvey Ross who also preceded her in death in 1980, and was active in many civic clubs. She was a founding member as well as treasurer, vice president, and then president of the Modern Matrons Women’s Club. She was a member of the Cheyenne Elks Club, The Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Lodge here in Laramie. Helen was also instrumental in the founding of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. When she was not busy with her civic duties, she could be found cooking, gardening, playing cards, BINGO, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, siblings, and husband, Helen was preceded in death by two infant sons; an infant granddaughter; son-in-law Columbus Parham; and two grandsons, Barton Parham and Lance Parham.
Helen leaves behind three nieces, Mary Helen Goodwick; Florence Jeffries; and Ruthie Jeffries, all of Cleveland, OH; seven nieces and nephews; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law Melba J. Parham of Laramie; grandchildren, Scott Parham and wife Debbie; Roshone Parham and wife Darla; Vashti Jackson and husband Donald all of Lancaster, CA; Vianetta Jeffries and Michael Dunn of Winters, CA; Craig Parham and wife Renetta, Grant Parham and wife Vickie of Spring, TX; Adalia Parham of Silver Springs, MA; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her special friend and companion Robert Nicholson. Helen will be dearly missed by all who were privileged to have known her.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date this summer in conjunction with one for her grandson, Lance Parham, who passed away April of this year.

LeRoy S. Alarid
April 27, 2007

LeRoy S. Alarid, 71 of Cheyenne, formerly of Laramie, died, Friday, April 27, 2007 at United Medical Center in Cheyenne.
He was born August 28, 1935 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Antonio and Adela (Romero) Mora. He grew up in Mora, New Mexico. He was raised by his grandparents; Trivino and Virginia Alarid. He later married Helen Segura in Mora, New Mexico.
He was a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church. His hobbies included spending time with his family and friends. He loved going fishing with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his two great-grandchildren; Ashton and Caylee Alarid who he loved spending time with. He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and all of his grandchildren who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, and a daughter Frances Alarid.
He is survived by six daughters, Mary Lang of Fargo, ND; Stefanie Segura of Cheyenne, WY; Julie Alarid of Laramie; Josie Butler of Page, SC; JoAnne Alarid of Grand Forks, ND; Theresa Silvia of Wheatland, WY; son John Segura of Cheyenne, WY; three sisters Becky Romero of Albuquerque, NM; Rosalita Jaramillo and Angie Mora both of Laramie; seven brothers Alex Mora of Mora, NM; Willie Mora of Idaho Springs, CO; Trivy Mora of Rock Springs, WY; Gilbert Mora, Jimmy Mora, Bobby Mora, Albert Mora all of Laramie; 15 grandchildren, Brandi, Mandi, Melissa, Matthew, Jeremy, Katie, Kelly, Markie, Stephen, Kimberly, Jessica, Brandon, John, Brenden, and Brayden; 3 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Caylee, Hailey; and special friends Mike Alen, Aron, and Amber Urbin.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 4, 2007 at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church with the Reverend Fr. James Schumacher Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Green Hill cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the LeRoy Alarid Memorial Fund, 1716 W. Gopp Court, Cheyenne, WY 82007.

Marjorie Jayne Stacy
March 13, 2005

Stacy, Marjorie Jayne, 87, of Laramie, passed away on March 13 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on April 8, 1917, the daughter of George B. and Hazel (Botts) Shepard. During World War II, she worked at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, where she met her future husband, Ralph W. Stacy. Afterward, she attended Ohio State, Miami, and Southern Illinois Universities, where she studied art education. She also taught English as a Second Language at Durham (NC) Technical Institute. In addition to a lifelong interest in music, she bred and showed champion Scottish Terriers and Rough Collies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years, and two siblings.
She is survived by two sisters, Frances Gardner of Holland, Ohio, and Mildred Weir of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and a sister-in-law Nancy J. Greene of Middletown, Ohio. Other survivors include her son, William B. Stacy of Laramie; a daughter, Susan M. Stacy of Middletown, Ohio; two grandchildren, Andrea Wilkison of Laramie and Krista Metzger of Cheyenne, WY; a daughter-in-law, Julia Combs of Laramie; a grandson-in-law, Randall Wilkison of Laramie; and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Kelby, and Brady Wilkison, and Jessi Metzger.
Private family memorial services will be held in Laramie and Middletown, Ohio. She will be interred with her husband at the Veterans� cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ivinson Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit Hospice Facility, 255 N. 30th Street, Laramie, WY 82072.
Services are under the direction of Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home.

Mary Lillian Johnston
May 3, 2007

Johnston, Mary Lillian, 70, of Laramie died Thursday May 3 at her home. She was born July 9, 1936 in Wheatland, Wyoming the daughter of Fred and Mary (Trujillo) Santillanes. She married Norman W. Johnston in Stockton, Kansas on April 21, 1953 and later divorced. She spent her retirement enjoying her grandchildren and gardening.
She was a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church and the Husted-Pendleton American Legion Post Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Wendall Guy Ward Johnston, a great granddaughter, Brandy Miller and three brothers, Robert, Joe and Raymond Santillanes.
She is survived by five daughters, Linda O. Johnston-Adams of Aurora, CO; Vivian Madrid and husband David of Laramie, WY; Joyce Smith of Laramie, WY; Crystal Johnston of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; and Laurie Jo Weber and husband Jeff of Laramie, WY; one brother Fred Santillanes of Katy, TX; a sister Alberta Perez of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral liturgy will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church with Reverend James Schumacher, celebrant. Burial will follow in Green Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 8 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home.
Memorial may be made to the Mary Lillian Johnston Memorial Fund, 1409 Renshaw St., Laramie, WY.

Rhoda Owen Lewis
April 19, 2007

Rhoda Owen Lewis was born in Medicine Lodge, Kansas on February 13, 1943 to Neil and Bertie Owen. On April 19 at the age of 64, she passed away at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming. She is survived by her sons Robert Craig and William Lee.
Rhoda earned a B.S. degree in Education from Chadron State College and an M.A. degree in Anthropology from the University of Wyoming. She worked in the field of archaeology for more than 30 years, retiring in 2005 from her position as Regional Archaeologist for the Fish and Wildlife Service in Denver, Colorado.
Rhoda's family and friends will hold a memorial in celebration of her life at a later date. Richard W. Weeks
April 30, 2007

Weeks, Richard William, 85 of Laramie, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his home. He was born March 21, 1922 in Monterey Park, California the son of Frank and Charline (Brown) Weeks. After graduation from high school he served in the United States Navy during WWII in the European Theatre. He married Sharon Smith on January 9, 1964 in Elko, Nevada.
Richard attended the California Institute of Technology and received a bachelor’s degree in Physics, a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and his Doctorate degree from Montana State College. He taught Electrical Engineering at the University of Wyoming.
He was a past member of the Moose Lodge No. 390, the Izaak Walton League, AARP and was a Registered Electrical Engineer with the State of Wyoming. Richard served on the Laramie City Council from 1968-1974 and was mayor from 1971-1973. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, handball, racquetball, and especially photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Richard is survived by his wife Sharon Weeks of Laramie, WY; a daughter Teri D. Taylor and her partner Gene Johnson of Laramie, WY; a son Bradley B. Weeks and his wife Wendy of Tucson, AZ; two sisters Betty Wester and her husband Bernie of Novato, CA; and Pat Wilber of Corona, CA; four grand daughters Tesa J. Taylor, Savanna M. Nasworthy, Hannah G. Weeks and Amelia R. Weeks, and a grandson Anthony J. Taylor.
There will be a time of sharing and a celebration of his life that will be held beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5 at the family home in Laramie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eppson Center for Seniors, P.O. 1755, Laramie, WY 82073 or to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1402 East Gibbon St., Laramie, WY 82072. Cremation has taken place at Albany Crematory under the direction of Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home.
