June Blevins Fox Gilkison
June 24, 1928 – May 22, 2010

June Blevins Fox Gilkison was born June 24, 1928 to Clefton and Clara Patton Blevins on the family homestead at Decker, Montana. She attended Squirrel Creek School and then boarded in Sheridan to attend Sheridan High School, graduating in 1946. She married Gene Fox June 4, 1946 in Hardin, Mt. They worked on various ranches from Birney, Mt to Kaycee, WY ending at the Padlock Ranch where Gene was Cattle Foreman and June cooked for the hired men. They had two daughters, Arlene and Debbie. Gene passed away September 29, 1959. June and the girls moved into Sheridan where June went to work in the kitchen at the VA Hospital. June married Milo Gilkison October 6, 1962 in Sheridan. They had one daughter Pattie. From the kitchen at the VA June transferred to the job of nurse’s aide. She was in the first group of female nurses aides to work at the VA. After many years as a nurse’s aide she transferred to the clothing room. She served as Union Steward and President of the Local 1219 Union while employed at the VA. June retired from the VA after 32 years of service. June and Milo had many happy times taking trips to go hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting and always looking for that "special" rock. They had an extensive artifact and rock collection from everywhere they had traveled. They were among the first members of the Blue Sky Saddle Club and they were both 4-H leaders for many years. Milo passed away May 18, 1993. June took one more trip, with her sister Josie. In 1994 they traveled for six weeks visiting relatives all the way from Sheridan to Atlanta, on to the original Blevins place in Crumpler, N. Carolina. From there on up the East Coast to NY and then across the northern states back to WY. She brought home rocks (labeled of course) from every place they stopped. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandma and great grandma. She was a member of the Methodist Church, VFW Ladies Aux. and spent many happy hours playing cards and bingo at the Senior Center. Sadly she suffered the affects of Alzheimer’s but she was still able to enjoy listening to her favorite music. She loved to putter around the house or in the yard and garden, always singing or humming one of her favorite songs. June was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sister Lucille Blevins Shreve, two half sisters - Jessie Blevins McCall and Irene Blevins Povey. She is survived by her daughters Arlene (Ric) Harrington of LaPorte, Colorado; Debbie Hale of Gillette, WY and Pattie (Gary) Legerski of Los Fresnos, TX. Grandchildren Royce (Jen) Hale, Denver, CO, Gene (Stacey) Hale, Sheridan, and Gwen Hale (Ty) Wright of Gillette. Great Grand children Chasely Morgan, Dawson and Keaton Wright, Nicholas and Marcus Hale. Sisters Josie Schreibeis of Sheridan; Virginia Brocius of Lovell and Pat Rudolf of Gillette. Brother Robert Blevins of Sheridan. She is also survived by 4 generations of nieces and nephews as well as her life long best friend Bonnie Cotton of Sheridan. Graveside services for June will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery, with Reverend Doug Goodwin officiating. A luncheon reception to follow at the Big Horn Mountains Eagles Lodge #4169, 1740 Commercial Lane Ave., Sheridan, WY. In lieu of flowers the family asks you donate to 4-H at Sheridan County 4-H Foundation, Sheridan County Extension Office, 224 S. Lillian Marie Browne
June 29, 1955 – May 20, 2010

Lillian Marie Browne, 54, passed away at her home in Sheridan on Thursday, May 20, 2010, surrounded by her family. Marie was born on June 29, 1955 in Spokane, Washington to parents Donna Z. (Edgmond) Nagle and Ralph H. Nagle. She married Bruce Edward Browne. Marie was a Certified LPN. She loved cooking and decorating, walking Uncle Charlie and Trixie in Kendrick Park, traveling, and collecting antiques. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Marie is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Bruce, children Dan (Mindy) Ross of Joplin, MT, Angela (Chris) Wyatt of Seattle, WA, Connie (Glen) Bennick of Sheridan, WY, and Jeff (Cheryl) Parsons of Escondido, CA. Her brother Rusty Nagle of Dixon, CA. Her mother in law Wilma S. Browne, brother and sister in law Jerry (Sharon) Browne, of Sheridan, WY and Richard (Sandra) Browne of Sheridan, WY. Also an ex-wife in law Carla J. Browne of Sheridan, WY along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 5 - 8 pm at the American Legion in Sheridan, Wyoming. Light dinner will be available. Kathleen “Kathy” Julia Ferrari
January 10, 1942 – May 22, 2010

Kathleen (Kathy) Julia Ferrari, 68, of Sheridan, passed away at the VA Medical Center on Saturday, May 22, 2010. Kathleen was born on January 10, 1942 in Latrobe, PA to John Mickinak and Mary M. Zitt Mickinak. After high school Kathleen went on to graduate the Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She then joined the United States Air Force in 1965 where she served as an RN during the Vietnam Era. Leaving her carrier there in 1967 as a 1st Lieutenant. Kathleen married Dr. David Ferrari on January 14, 1969 in Latrobe, PA. She and her husband moved to Sheridan in 1983. She later went on to better her education at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine in 1990. Kathleen spent 18 years at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan as Education Director. She was also a longtime CPR instructor. Kathleen enjoyed, crafts, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and travel. She was an active member of multiple nursing organizations. As a member of Holy Name Catholic Community, she was busy with church organizations including Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, and writing petitions for all services. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Surviving Kathleen are her brothers Richard (Betty) Mickinak of Ligonier, PA and John (Beth) Mickinak of Greensburg, PA, along with numerous neices and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation for Kathleen will be at Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 6:00pm with Christian Wake Services at 7:00 pm. Services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday May 27, 2010 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. A reception will follow at the Parish Hall. Christy (Jacobson) Parrott
December 8, 1970 – May 22, 2010

Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend lost her battle with cancer May 22, 2010. She is survived by her husband Douglas Parrott, Jr. and daughter Hannah Marie Parrott of Florence, MT; her parents Dale and Cynthia Jacobson of Sheridan, WY; sister Jennie (Jacobson) Holton of Bozeman, MT. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Chris & Margaret Jacobson and Wilfred and Mary Catterall of Sheridan, WY, aunts Peggy Doyle and Stella Novara of Sheridan, WY. Joyce Margaret “Mugs” Davis
October 13, 1938 – April 29, 2010

Joyce was born October 13, 1938, in Great Falls, Montana and was raised and educated in Carter, Black Eagle and Vaughn and Simms. She and Thomas R. Davis were married January 20, 1955 in Black Eagle, Montana. Joyce was a homemaker and a cashier for various local grocery stores. She enjoyed golf, pool, softball, fishing, camping, cooking, gardening, and her family meant everything to her. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Davis of Great Falls; daughters and sons-in-law Peggy and Daryl Blackman of Manassas, VA, Cindy and Robert Cummings and Terri and Kevin O’Connell, all of Great Falls; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kim Davis Jr. of Great Falls; sisters JoAnn Korst and husband Leroy and Kelly Reiss and husband Richard, all of Great Falls, Patricia O’Dell of Sheridan, WY and Gertrude “Trudy” Carlson and husband Darrell of Garden Valley, CA; brothers Jack Fatz and wife Evelyn, Robert Fatz and wife Bonnie and Fred Fatz, all of Great Falls; ten grandchildren and to great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father, Violet and John Fatz; a grandson, Austin Davis; a sister, Pauline Retchless and a niece, Wendy Reiss.

Sandra Rae Collins
August 31, 1949 – May 19, 2010

Sandra Collins, 60, of Sheridan died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Memorial service is 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Ogg officiating. Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Sandra was born in Billings, MT and was raised in Roundup, MT until 1965. She moved with family to Sheridan, WY where she graduated from Sheridan High School and attended one year at Sheridan College. Sandra then moved to Washington D.C. and worked for the F.B.I for five years. She left F.B.I. to pursue her education at George Mason University for two years. Sandra moved back to Billings, MT, where she graduated from Eastern Montana College with a bachelors in education. She met and married Dave Collins and taught school for several years before relocating to Denver, CO where they both sold real estate and adopted a baby boy, Benjamin. In 2002, Sandy moved back to Sheridan with her husband and son where over the years she worked as an educator for NSI, office manager for St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and as a private tutor for the School District. Sandy enjoyed gardening, handwork, golfing and bridge. She is survived by best friend and ex-husband, Dave Collins, her son, Benjamin, her parents, Ed and Rose Marie Nicholson, her sister, Diane Ballek and husband Ken, her brother Don Nicholson, niece Tennyson, and nephews Justin, Brian and Nic. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Thomas Ogg officiating. A reception will follow at the Parish Hall. Molly Claire Nichols
March 17, 1990 – May 15, 2010

Molly Claire Nichols, 20, of Sheridan, passed away at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan. A beautiful little angel left us, in the physical sense, in the early hours of Saturday, May 15, 2010. The l loving child of Christina Anne Mulkerrin and Charley Nichols lives on in our hearts. Molly Claire was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1990, in Burley, Idaho. Molly attended Highland Park Elementary School, Holy Name School and Graduated from Ft. McKenzie High School in 2009. She was attending Sheridan College when she became ill from Ovarian cancer. Molly will always be remembered for her love of life, great sense of humor, imagination and her big smile that lit up the room. Molly cherished her friends, and was always there for them. She was always reminding people to relax. Molly’s interests were writing, reading, singing, watching movies, Harry Potter and Stars Wars. She adored her dog Ellie and her cat Snowball. In school, Molly acted in plays, was the high school class prom queen in 2008, and enjoyed school trips to Washington D.C. and the Grand Tetons. One of the highlights was when her class went to Crow Agency, where she got to shake hands with our current President of the United States of America. She had a beautiful head of red hair and porcelain skin befitting of her Irish heritage. Molly Clair twice visited the home of her mother’s family in County Galway, Ireland. She also spent time visiting her father’s family in Oregon. Molly was independent and didn’t find it necessary to follow the tide of youthful trends. She is survived by her mother, Christina Anne Mulkerrin of Sheridan, her father Charley Nichols of Gillette, her paternal grandparents, Bonnie and Clyde Nichols of Jordan Valley, OR, her paternal aunts, Brenda Nichols Pearson of Homedale, ID, and Amy Nichols Thomas of Nampa, ID, her maternal aunts, Bernadette Mulkerrin Jeffries of County Galway, Ireland, Esther Mary Mulkerrin of County Cork, Ireland, her maternal uncle Patrick Mulkerrin of London, England and numerous cousins and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ellie and Willie Mulkerrin, and maternal uncle Ronan Mulkerrin of Ireland. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Holy Name Church, a Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 22, at Holy Name Church with Father Rob Spaulding officiating. Mary Francis Cooper
October 11, 1938 – May 15, 2010

Mary Francis Cooper, 71, of Sheridan passed away at Sheridan Manor on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Mary was born in Decatur, Illinois on October 11, 1938 to Rhoda Mary Rager Garvin and James Hollis Garvin. Mary married Donald Owen Cooper on February 12, 1966. Mary was a member of Latham Chapter #507 Order of the Eastern Star since 1956, past President of the Sheridan Country Club, an avid golfer, bridge, and gin player. She had many hobbies, including needlepoint, ceramics, art glass, knitting and, most of all, shopping. Mary worked as an administrative assistant while living in Illinois and later earned her real estate broker’s license in Wisconsin. But her most important job was taking care of the love of her life, her husband, Don. Her family and friends appreciated her dry wit and sense of humor. She was a loyal friend and loving wife. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, their children Patricia M. Lofgren and her husband Richard, Donald O. Cooper, Jr. And wife Lisa, and G. Michael Cooper M.D., and grandchildren Zachary C. Cooper and Kayla J. Cooper. Marianne Y. Reisch
April 27, 1925 - May 13, 2010

Marianne Y. Reisch died May 13, 2010 in St. George, Utah of natural causes. She was 85 years old. Marianne was born in Sheridan County to Paul G. and Mary Florence (Mahalek) Yalowizer. She was educated in Sheridan and married Jack E. Reisch in Hardin, Montana on September 24, 1942. They were married for 53 years. Marianne was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church, The Fiber Guild, and several other homemaker groups. She loved to sew and other crafts. Many of her relatives and friends have items of her handiwork which she always gave away. Marianne is survived by her two children, Cherry Jones and Edward Reisch, and four granddaughters who were all her pride and joy. She spent many hours with each and everyone of them. Visitation will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, May 21, 2010, at Kane Funeral Home, with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 pm, with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Stolcis officiating. interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. James Cleon Fowler

James Cleon Fowler, 94, of Rapid City, stepfather of Richard Roberts of Sheridan, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Funeral services were Monday at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City. Burial with military honors was in Black Hills National cemetery. John B. Songer
June 29, 1922 – May 12, 2010

John B. Songer, 87 of La Crescent, Minn. passed away at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Medical Center in La Crosse on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. He was born in Buffalo, Wyoming on June 29, 1922 to Floyd and Edith (Fordyce) Songer Sr. He had worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1937 until 1939. John had proudly served his country with the United States Army during World War II enlisting in 1940 and serving in Troop B of the 115th Cavalry division. He later served and was injured during his tour of duty with the Army as a field artilleryman in the Philippines. John also served another tour in Korea and later ended his Army duty with Battery A of the 465th Field Artillery Battalion at Camp McCoy Wisconsin and received an Honorable Discharge in 1951. On June 2, 1951 he married the love of his life, Maxine in Caledonia, Minn. Later in life John was an avid league bowler for many years, and loved trout fishing and golfing with family and friends. He was also a great fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Spending time with grand kids and great grand kids was very important to him, and he enjoyed a special, close relationship with his grandson Jason. For 25 years John worked for Cargill Heating as a service technician. Many families would continue to call and request his services even following his retirement. Thoughts of his kind, generous nature and love for all his family and friends will be with us always. He generally charmed everyone he met. In addition to Maxine, his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two sons, Jeff Songer and his wife Kathy of LaCrescent, Minn., Gary Songer of Chaska, Minn., three grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Josh, Jason and Alexis; two great grandchildren, Victoria and Austin; two sisters Lorraine Burgess of Eugene, OR., and Beverly Savage of Lake Havasu, AZ., two brothers, Floyd Songer Jr. and his wife Agnes and Gene Songer both of Sheridan, Wyoming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lavaughn. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent, Minn. Pastor Michael Woods will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Gittens Leidel American Legion Post 595 La Crescent. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent. Visitation will also be held on Friday at the church from 12:30 P.M. until the time of services.

Marilyn Ruth “Suzi” Dunlap Phillips
September 7, 1932 – May 14, 2010

Marilyn Ruth ”Suzi” Dunlap Phillips, 77 passed away in Casper, WY on May 11, 2010. Funeral services were Friday, May 14, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Casper. Suzi was born on September 7, 1932 in Crawford, Nebraska to Gertrude “Sally” (Bishop) and James Robert Dunlap. She was raised in Edgemont, South Dakota and Sheridan. She married Edward L. Phillips on September 21, 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia. Suzi is survived by her children, Sally Reinhart (Bob), Jima Le Simpson, and Sherri Sue Goddard; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, James Robert Dunlap, Jr. of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jimmy Jon Dunlap of Sheridan and their Families. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, of 49 years in 1999. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to the Casper Humane Society or Central Wyoming Hospice.

Roger W. Jung
April 13, 2010

Roger W. Jung, M.D. age 61 died April 13, 2010 at Hennepin County Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents Martha and William F. Jung. Roger is survived by his children Alexandra and Graham Jung of Minnetonka, MN; brother William R. Jung of Crookston, MN; Uncle Dr. Frank (Carol) Jung of Mentor, MN; Uncle Dr. James F. Hammarsten of Melrose/Grey Eagle, MN; two nephews and one niece; and many cousins. Dr. Jung received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Moorhead State University in 1970. He also completed 2 years of graduate study in cell physiology at North Dakota State University. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1976. Dr. Jung served as a psychiatrist at the Sheridan VA Medical Center and the Casper Outpatient Clinic from 2006-2008. A service of remembrance will be held at Minnetonka United Methodist Church, 17611 Lake Street. Ext., Minnetonka MN, Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.

Don Oedekoven
September 30, 1922 to May 13, 2010

Don passed away unexpectedly May 13, 2010. Don was born September 30, 1922 in Gillette, Wyoming, to Fred and Nora (Clampitt) Oedekoven. He was the middle of three boys born to Fred and Nora. Don graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming, in May 1941. He attended Sheridan College and the University of Wyoming. Don served in the Army Air Corp from January 1942 to January 1946. He attended airplane mechanics school in Los Angles. He served as a B-25 mechanic for the North Atlantic Theater. He retired with the rank of Sergeant. Don married the love of his life, Barbara Smith, on June 8, 1945, in Gillette, Wyoming. To this union was born five children: David (Diana) Oedekoven, Bruce (Dixie) Oedekoven, Kay (Larry) Orrell, Debbie (Keith) Heide, Chris (Brian) Zahradnicek. He has twelve grandchildren: Cynthia Oedekoven, Teri Oedekoven, Mark (Kim) Oedekoven, Kevin (Sara) Oedekoven, Leslie Leyba, Elizabeth Orrell, Dustin (Jenn) Oedekoven, Matthew (Molly) Oedekoven, Renea (Matt) Parker, Justin (Stacy) Heide, Brianna (Tony) Prolo, Melissa Zahradnicek. His great-grandchildren are Tyler and Jack Oedekoven, Levi and Cora Oedekoven, Morgan, Madison and Alex Oedekoven, Georgie and Elsie Oedekoven, Treylee and McKailyn Parker, Trent Heide, and Kira Prolo. He is survived by his wife, five children, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, four nephews and one niece. Don is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers (James Oedekoven and Elmer Oedekoven) and one grandson, Douglas Keith Oedekoven. After military service he worked in the oil field in Texas. Then the couple ranched in Northern Campbell County in Wyoming. In 1961 they purchased a small place near Big Horn, Wyoming, where they continued to live until his death. He worked at the VA in Sheridan and Sheridan College. He worked as a letter carrier for the USPS until his retirement in 1978. After retirement the couple traveled extensively (Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg, Mexico, Canada and 49 of the 50 states (excluding Hawaii). They spent the past 24 winters in South Texas. Don was a member of the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ, American Legion, Big Horn Historical Society, and National Association of Letter Carriers. Don left an impeccable, continuing legacy of faith in God, love of family and ultimate generosity. Send memorials to Pension Fund Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), P.O. Juanita R. Quarve

Juanita R. Quarve, 74, of Gillette, mother of Gary "Bo" Deveraux of Sheridan, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes, according to family.
