Karen Ann Lammers - Foslien
January 18, 1949 - July 27, 2010

Karen Foslien left this world Tuesday evening, July 27, 2010 after a 7-month battle with cancer. Karen was born in Moorhead, Minnesota on a snowy 18th day of January 1949 to Dallas and Anne (Nosal) Lammers. She was the second of six children. Most of her early years were spent in a typical rural family farm lifestyle. She attended Assumption Catholic School in Barnesville, Minnesota to grade eight then to Barnesville High School where she graduated in 1967. During her junior year, she met her future husband, Bob Foslien and that relationship resulted in their marriage on August 24, 1968. Karen and Bob lived in Moorhead, Minnesota at the time of their marriage, then in late 1969, they moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota. Three daughters were born to them during this time. In 1974, the family moved to Billings, Montana and fell in love with the town, its people, and St. Thomas Parish. This love for Billings and St. Thomas parish has led her family to have her funeral at St. Thomas and burial at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. Karen only worked briefly outside the home, choosing to dedicate her time to her family and her church. After 30 years in Billings, Bob retired and they moved to Sheridan, Wyoming spending their winters in Rockport, Texas at an RV park. Over the years, her favorite pastimes included prayer and reflection, travel, camping, skiing, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. Most important in Karen's life was her relationship with Jesus Christ, which led her to participate in several ministries and training sessions including Youth Ministry, Hospice Volunteer, Hospital Pastoral Care, Nursing Home Ministry at St. John's and Aspen Meadows, Sacred Heart Renewal Center, Bible studies and retreats, Sick and Shut-in ministries, Spiritual Direction, as well as Lecturing and Eucharistic Ministry. Karen sought to live her life as an example of God's love. Every person was special to her and she managed to leave behind her a "trail of love" that left an impact on the lives of everyone she met. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Dallas and Anne Lammers. She is survived by her husband, Bob, and three daughters Michelle (Bryan) Blackford, Angela (Scott) Averill, Jacqueline (Jeff) Courts; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Jan (Tom) Stuverud, and Susie (Jim) Heng, and brothers Larry (Sherry) Lammers, Jerry (Karen) Lammers, and Ron (Kari) Lammers and many nieces and nephews.
